i’m just a twenty-something on tumblr, so take it with a grain of salt, but here’s a thought/question i keep having about the watcher situation:

a few of the people related to them who have made statements have used words like “survivable living” and “survive” when discussing the move. this, along with the phrasing they used in the video, implies that they believe this is necessary.

i’ve seen a LOT of people highlighting this as a point of contention and mentioning shane and ryan’s expensive weddings, steven’s “eating gold-covered food” show and tesla, etc. and yeah, i have to agree at face value. they all take fancy vacations, go to events and interesting places often, and own weird designer/luxury items (the amount of times i’ve liked something shane is wearing only to find out it’s $400)

anyway, my question is — is it LA brainrot and they’re vastly overexaggerating how much they’re struggling, or are they living well beyond their means? i don’t want to assume, but the way they’re speaking about it makes me wonder if they genuinely do need the money.

So Mikoto's father chose work over family? And once the divorce happened, his mother was probably forced to do the same to make enough money to support him and his sister on her own. Meaning for the large majority of Mikoto's childhood, he's probably been emotionally neglected, having his parents at work 24/7 and too tired to give the appropriate attention when they're home. He would've also most likely had to be a sort of caregiver to his younger sister while his parents were at work.

Being emotionally neglected by his father, being seemingly abandoned by him after the divorce, being emotionally neglected by his mother and having to raise his sister are all traumatic experiences he's had to endure in childhood and are more than enough to cause DID. But that's not what this post is about ^_^ since birth, Mikoto has been shown that work is a number one priority, and his emotional needs aren't important in the slightest. Which completely explains why Mikoto acts the way he does now.

He constantly ignores his own emotions and wellbeing for the sake of work and the people around him, to the point of trying to be polite and accepting to people who have done nothing but hurt him. We see how terrified he is of John in Double, but when he realises he can't run from him anymore, he immediately tries (and fails) to repress that fear and be friendly towards him. He works in an environment to demands he neglects his own needs, but even if it didn't, I'd imagine he'd still overwork himself anyway, as a way to distract himself from ever dealing with the needs he's never been taught to deal with.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this... but I really want to give him a hug.

“Red team was so selfish looking past the cursed team like that” listen man they were thinking about it often, and had evidence they were cursed too. They were convinced they were cursed too. Bad (with Pierre’s help I’ll be honest) singlehandedly destroyed any sort of civil relations and good faith between the two teams and this shot Blue in the foot when they tried to make the case about them being cursed last minute, about trying to rig it in the cursed teams favor.

There was never a cursed team in the first place, it was all a tactic to build paranoia and that feeling of betrayal and to get them to tear eachother a part. And it worked super well! At the end, neither would listen to the other about their evidence, not with an honest open ear, not with the willingness to think the other team could be cursed. It’s not a case of ‘Red just refused to listen because they wanted to win more than they cared’ they thought they were cursed too - if they were selfish, then so were Blue in the same way.

Every time Red had tried to talk first early on, it was met with extreme violence - and with Bad consistently proving he’ll play dirty to win, they didn’t trust Blue enough to listen to them in the later game. Maybe they should have listened then. Maybe Blue have listened earlier. The game worked as intended to set them against eachother.
