How Lookism Guys Fall in Love with YOU + personal hc

Requested. If you can't tell how repetitive I am from my masterlist, here it is all side by side to show you exactly the sort of tropes I like a LOT. Sorta hc, sorta the storylines-ish I like to write.

Strangers to Lovers

Johan Seong

Meeting Johan and bonding through his pups. You don't even need to show him kindness. Show Eden and Miro kindness and you will enter his thoughts regardless.

A cliched way to a man's heart is his stomach. Feed Johan up too to up the relationship.

Lots of emotional maturing needed for Johan to understand what the hell is going on. Pulls away to get some distance yet always ends up by your side. He can't help it. Eventually just gives in.

Goo Kim

While I personally dislike the love at first sight trope, this guy would absolutely double take if there was something that caught his eye and then he would be his normal extroverted and clingy self to get to know you.

This fucking charmer. Yes he's annoying, but even then he gets under your skin and you can't help falling for him too.

Also a fan of the hot-and-cold-casual-fuck-buddies dynamic. He'll see you every day for a week, wake up in your bed then ghost you for a month. Rinse and repeat. After a little while - oh. Goo realises he misses you.

Samuel Seo

Ah the oh-shit-I-caught-feelings-when-we-were-just-casually-fucking-and-no-strings-attached pining.

Meeting at somewhere like a corporate event or even in a club.

Lots of inner turmoil as he gets to grips with his emotions and how to deal with you. A little bit of push and pull before he eventually admits how he feels.

Ryuhei Kuroda/Xiaolong

Just meeting someone, anyone who is the opposite of Mitsuki and Vivi. Showing them what a normal healthy person, with normal healthy interests looks like. Show them kindness, show them your sweet smile, show them you don't want anything apart from just them and they will fall for you.

Ryuhei - Not really much guilt with moving on from Mitsuki because face it. They weren't exactly anything.

Xiaolong - oof. The most angsty hurt/comfort you can think of.

Friends (classmates) to Lovers

Zack Lee

Long-ish time friend, but nothing progressed due to his feelings for Mira. Gradually circumstances bring you both closer together. Tending to his wounds, school projects, maybe even shopping for a gift for Mira.

Start to see you in a new light. Deals with a lot of denial at first and then later, guilt. Unsurprisingly, it's Mira that notices the change in Zack and encourages him to pursue you.

Vasco Tabasco/Jace Park

Classmate of theirs through J-high or knew them from middle school. Help to tutor Vasco or just generally up to some shit with Jace. Maybe playing detective.

Not involved with Burn Knuckles, but you might as well be. With Vasco or Jace, the rest of the crew treats you with the same level of respect as their No.1/2 and will protect you at all costs.

Relatively straightforward friends to lovers, with all the worries of gang shit.

Vin Jin

Love the idea of Vin Jin, Mary and You being best buds together. Either from Cheonliang or you getting closer to Vin through Mary once they attend J-High.

An absolute asshole though he is a little softer towards you. Takes him a while to fall for you and see you in a new light. Is so used to you as a friend that it will take someone else interfering or an event.

See masterlist for someone asking you on a date or Vin seeing you in his Cheonliang jacket heh (the latter really breaks his brain).

Jake Kim

Childhood friend to lovers. You knew him before he joined Big Deal and/or while he was a tall lanky middle school kid.

Always had a soft spot for you. Walking you home from school, spending evenings in the library messing around, hanging in the park. Once he joined Big Deal and you started high school, it added some distance between you but Jake still could never get you off his mind.

Eventually reconciling and slow burn into lovers. Dealing with all the usual angst of Jake putting you in danger and risking your safety by being with him. Hint: he gets over it eventually. Or else it turns into angsty regret (my personal fave!).

DG/James Lee

You know him from his James Lee days and go way back. Either classmates together or another very typical show-him-a-little-kindness and then wormed your way into his heart.

Sees you more and more, and no matter what, you're never judgemental of him and you're able to talk to him like a normal human being - which is a rarity. Growing closer together until he starts to confide in you. One day, James just realises you're the closest person to him and he likes you. You have grown and grown on him until it's obvious and completely hits him over the head with it.

Progress into lovers is very straightforward. You stick with him through thick and thin. Even with his transition into DG, you're the one constant in his life that he keeps close by and protects.

Eli Jang

Know Eli from his J-high days and always been good buddies with you. Sure you could tell he's good looking but you didn't put him on a pedestal.

Eventually growing closer to him and also meeting Yenna. Which is a huge step, by the way. Eli is so goddamn protective of her and when you are both introduced he thinks 'huh? this is? nice??'. Loves the idea of a happy family.

Bit of angst dealing with the death of Heather and moving on with you.

Colleague/Crew Member to Lovers

Gun Park/Goo Kim

The third partner and completing the Gun/Goo/You trifecta. Teaming up with Goo to piss off Gun or with Gun to become the sassiest, most fearsome duo and a headache for the blonde.

Eugene/Samuel Seo

Working alongside and rising through the ranks, impressing them with your competency that they have no choice but to take notice of you. They struggle treading the line between professionalism and falling for you.

Jake Kim/Sinu Han

Big Deal crew member, joining and working your way into the Boss's heart. Another one for lots of pining and slow burn as they try not to fall for you because they feel it's pretty inappropriate.

Another favourite little scenario: you working on Big Deal street. Either taking up an empty premise or working in a store or restaurant and catching their eye. Flirtation abound especially when they visit you when you should be working and prove to be an awful distraction.

— Jonggun: Oh, word? You had a fight? He didn't even notice. He was so calm through all of it, you probably got annoyed with him and left. He lets it sit for a few days so your anger has time to simmer down before he approaches you again.

If he was in the wrong, which he rarely believes he is, he will try to goad you into physical intimacy again to make it up for you. If not and he finds your distance too annoying, he'll try to buy your good grace back with materialistic means. Smh. Do it again Jonggun.

— Joongoo: Genuinely refuses to be wrong even when he knows he's wrong. Somewhere in the middle of the fight, Joongoo realizes you actually make sense but he's committed to it so he will argue to the end even if it means pissing you off for good.

Will try to give you the cold shoulder back but it lasts for like three days until he comes over to pester you again. When you continue to ignore him, he tries to throw that treatment right back but fails and then doubles down on pestering you until you give.

— Vasco: Let's be real, it's not an actual fight. You just got exasperated because he's too dense to be helped and no matter how you try to explain, he won't get it.

Jace has to intervene at some point to explain that Vasco is just slow, not ill-meaning. Once it clicks for him what's actually bothering you, Vasco is pretty quick to apologize even if it isn't his fault. He doesn't like to see you upset, after all.

— Daniel: It's eating him alive. He got a flight-or-flight instinct to your disappointed tone. You don't even have to raise your voice at him, he's already fawning over you. Unless he thinks it's crucial that he's in the right, Daniel is pretty fast to diffuse the tension.

Never want to reach the point of fighting with you ever. But in the days after the fight, his people-pleasing mode is dialled up to the thousands with you. Will do anything just to see you give him one of your smiles.

— Jake: Most of your arguments don't escalate to fights. Honestly, he's pretty good at containing the situation. He'd rather you calm and articulate your point better than trying to argue with you. Hell, even if you said the most illogical thing ever, he'll probably agree with you.

Typical "happy wife, happy life" guy in a relationship. He'll try to make it up for you whether he was in the wrong or not. However, you can see when he's really in the wrong, he's extremely sincere. Probably be softer with you for the rest of the month.

�� Samuel: It's annoying to fight with him because you know he won't ever be the one to lose his temper... visibly first. Has the habit of getting demeaning and nasty once he's truly irritated. Will probably say something insulting that he totally means.

Go on ahead, hit him with a bri—okay, maybe don't choose violence. Genuinely speaking, the best method to deal with him during an argument is to stay as calm as he is. Don't even expect an apology if he was in the wrong, that's just asking for too much.

— Eli: Another prime example of letting you with about 98% of the argument. He will sometimes bicker back with you if he knows it's not a serious thing. Jokingly teases you if you get worked up about small matters, but ultimately tries to pacify you.

Think it's pretty cute when you lose your composure? Won't tell you that though, he knows he'll sleep on the couch if he did. Super quick on trying to apologize and calm you down if he thinks it's not worth it. However, he's super serious if the argument is about heavy matters.

— Johan: This one is going to argue right back if you get annoying enough for him. It's so not worth getting into an argument with him because he'll be a sore loser if he lost. He'll be pouty and irritable for days afterwards, even if he knew he was in the right.

You probably have to be the one who went to soothe him because of that. It's so easy for you to win back his good grace, just make his favourite food and wait for him to come out... doesn't that just sound like—

Reaction to Ep 462

SPOILERS ALERT

THREE major revelations take place in this episode and there will soon be a backstory that some readers are looking forward to reading.

So Jake (Gimyung) met Daniel (Hyungseok) outside of the Grimm clinic when he did his own reconnaisance. Then they both agreed on capturing CEO Charles Choi (Choi Dongsoo) and Park Jinyoung. Jake was bent on getting back at Charles for what happened to Big Deal and Daniel of course wanted to get his second body back (and uncover that mystery). They separated and agreed to meet on D-Day (the asylum attack).

I really love this interaction. Danny calls Jake "hyung" (older bro) and I wish that someday they could remain good friends. They were also joking a little bit about how useful Jake might be (or not...hahaha their short banter was everything).

Anyway they arrived at Jihan's holding cell and set him free (it was so easy, the plot must be moving at the speed of lightning again). Zack (Jinsung) came rescuing Jibeom and Hudson (Hyunsung) who, fyi, fainted after the monster's attack before Eli (Hyun) dragged it (him?) down with him two episodes ago. It was so funny, he was pissed that he was left alone helping them (I hope Vasco's fine somewhere... COME ON SOMEBODY FIND HIM).

And lo and behold, the ominiscient "Forever Man" is none other than Jihan's insane cell mate. The man is not called "Forever" for nothing. He was the first victim of Workers (lhae)'s forced confinement.

This is the first revelation.

The man's also Baek Hangyeol's father.

So somehow Hangyeol cheated the system as a minor to cosign with his mom in order to imprison his dad for reasons of insanity (I wonder if there'll be more to this backstory, like Jasmine [Youngmi]'s dad way back then who was actually a sexual molester to her).

Back to the present time, The Forever Man led Allied to a set of emergency stairs that they couldn't find before (because it's walled from the outside). And per Hangyeol's instruction, Taejin was already waiting for them at the first basement, all prepared. (CHEONLIANG BACKSTORY SOON!)

The mere sight of Taejin smirking drove Vin (Hobin) to anger and tears and soon they began to fight as Vin was determined that no witnesses should be left alive, implying that Taejin was an eyewitness to the murder that Vin had to commit in the past, or to whatever happened to Mary (Miru).

That is the second revelation in the episode, btw.

Hangyeol also told Park Jinyoung to prepare. And by preparing he meant to use his three reprogrammed victims (Big Danny, Johan and Samuel [Seongeun]) to launch an attack against Allied.

Yep his experiments were apparently to turn them into some sort of soldier/bioweapons thingy and see which one of them was the strongest (predictable, I wish it was related to the double bodies). Thanking the mad scientist for not shaving Johan and Samuel bald.

This is the third and final revelation in this episode.

You know what Lookism moment lives rent free in my mind?

That time when Daniel took his belt off and spanked Hudson Ahn during their fight. It was so random that I had to laugh and I do a double take every single time. Moments like that make reading Lookism worth it for me.

I loved the One Night arc, looking back at chapter 1 to now the main characters have not only changed but have physically come far. We have depressed Zack who finally won a fight. A furious Vasco who decided to do the one thing he said he'd never do. Then finally we have a manic Daniel who has arguably lost his marbles and is having too much fun.

Also, we got to see DG! It's good to see him twice every 100 chapters.

Chapter 1080 — The legendary hero

Really enjoying the double meaning of the chapter title, but coming back to that later.

First off, Hachinosu looks like a horribly violent place, ruled by fear of Teach.

There is also some sort of code of honour, if the fact that Koby’s escape means he’s free range is something to go by. But once the border’s been crossed…

Interesting to learn a bit more about the marine bounty hunting!

And of course: what did Koby do to get such a high bounty from the Cross Guild?

And we get a better overview of the Blackbeard pirates’ whereabouts (and powers)!

Once again we have an upgraded version of an earlier Devil’s Fruit (mere stone vs whole island). But how does that work with the sea? Which is touching the island at all times? By the definition of ‘island’? Also, is he now tied to Hachinosu or can he just merge with whatever land he’s standing on, as long as it’s surrounded by water? How big is an island in the fruit’s definition of it? Is a continent an island — could he merge with the Red Line?

And what happened at Rocky Port?

So, at the moment we have the following constellation…

Also: Koby, darling. How do you still keep the marines and government in such high regard? The let in a country called, literally, ‘The EVIL Black Drum Kingdom’. They accepted Doflamingo as ruler of Dressrosa after a coup. Do you really think they’ll give two farts in the wind about Blackbeard if he pays their tribute?

(And has Blackbeard’s dream changed?)

I have.. no idea what’s going on with the marines or SWORD. They are given normal assignments (like protecting the royals during their trip to the Reverie) but are still somehow unaffiliated with the marines?

(Also, Blackbeard is such a great foil to Luffy! Luffy also doesn’t know what’s happening and doesn’t really care, while Kuzan fills in the Robin-role here for exposition.)

I’m guessing he prefers the ones who scurries away.

And going back to the beginning: Hachinosu isn’t a terribly nice place, showcased here by Blackbeard’s focus on violence as the end goal.

Koby: your journey started with a pirate, it’ll end with one.

I just really like her. And Tsuru has children?

And Garp is a force to be reconned with.

And, back to the start: did the title talk about him or Koby? Or both? Is this the end (of an era) for one and the start for the other’s story?

Of course, with Pizarro literally being the island, Shiryu having invisibility, Wolf just being big enough to swat them like flies and Vasco… doing his thing, they’ll be whipped.

But will it force Luffy to get there or is it something to hear about when they’re done in Egghead and possibly Elbaf?

One Piece Chapter 1087 - Initial Thoughts

And We Are Back!

5 long looooong weeks for Oda to acquire his eye surgery laser vision but now we can resume the Egghead arc well...everything but the Egghead arc it seems

Still we finally get a manga dose of One Piece so let's see what we have

An Ace cover page this time, shame we didn't do anything with the laser eyes but Ace and Capybaras make up for it

In the G1 shipyard there are two navy ships whose hulls are dented, apparently known as 'battleship bags' which Garp trains with

Jango and Fullbody are surprised that this is Garp's daily routine, but also that the second ship was Aokiji's!

Also these dents are caused by brute strength, no fruit or haki

Reminder too that Navy ship hulls nowadays are layered with Sea Prism, so I think this is the first instance we've seen of Sea Prism being weathered

Pizarro being annoyed with Blackbeard being on the news is interesting, wonder if there's like a slight bit of dissent among the crew

Hibari, much like Coby, is annoyed that she couldn't help, but gets some reassurance from Kujaku

Garp is hopeful justice will prevail though, as we're left on a cliffhanger

It's good to be back

This chapter could've been a lot more action packed I feel, but I'm happy with what we got. Glad Aokiji showed more fight too, because making him look strong works for both Blackbeard and Akainu as well. Also kinda glad that the other Blackbeard members got involved, seemed weird that they would just spectate.

This is a point where Oda could easily move on to another plot section though, which I hope doesn't happen. But I'd also like Tashigi to do something impressive and if she can do something similar to Zoro's feat against Pica to save the ship that'd do pretty nicely. Realistically thinking there may be some navy backup, but we also can't rule out Perona and Moria getting involved, since Coby only escaped because Perona gave him the keys.

It's been 5 weeks but Oda has us leaned back in

Honestly because Heather is still being portrayed by ptj as a good person I don’t hate her. I see both sides to the theories however it’s a important to note that a lot happed to Eli during that time and we only saw a few flashbacks. And also important to focus on how how female characters are portrayed committing predatory acts in WEBTOONs in general, I feel like most authors don’t see it as bad because there’s not enough awareness about double standards in South Korea. Again both sides make sense to me but because of how Heather is being portrayed as Eli’s first love by the author himself, I don’t think she took advantage of Eli. Yall forget ptj is the author not you guys, at the end of the day these are fan theories, so I HOPE ptj clears this up because I NEED to know what actually happened. I don’t think anyone is in the wrong for thinking either of those theories are true because Eli and Heather’s interactions can interpreted differently by each individual, however what I do think is wrong, stupid, and hypocritical is people who see Heather as a predator getting upset when others don’t share that same belief. I have seen people going as far as to put words in others mouth and saying shit like “Heather is being forgiven because she’s a girl” or “y’all support r*pe”, all while defending all the shitty things Samuel, gun, goo, and olly have done. A traumatic childhood doesn’t excuse shitty actions.

So, I’ve been reading lookism lately… and I really have to talk about those ships. Once and never again. So lemme walk you through, yeah? I’ll try to keep my personal opinion out of it, this post will mainly just analyze and try to figure out the endgames :) so, let’s hit it:

The most straightforward seem Zack and Mira. I mean- he worships the ground she walks on and has even changed for her. All we need for this ship to sail is Mira accepting her own feelings. And yea, Johan exists, but- he’s been too long away that it makes any sense for him to be with Mira in the endgame.

so my theory is: Mira and Zack are endgame. Proof: they babysitted together. If that isn’t foreshadowing.

Moving on to nr. Next: Vasco

I don’t have a whole lot of hints for him. He seems to want a relationship, but there’s no obvious partner(s). Popular among fans is Vasco x Jake, but in all honesty: I don’t see it happening. We have seen from neither of them any signs of any more but platonic feelings. Which is fine, they can live in your head (if you want them to) and we canonically just have an amazing friendship! Otherwise there’s this boy who turned out to be a girl (I think her name is leonn?) which kind of came random and idk if kicking someones split leg is the right way to start a relationship, but you go girl, as long as you make our boi Vasco happy :)

theory: actually, I might go with her for my endgame guess. But, for Vasco, there’s still a lot of room, in my opinion, we might haven’t even met his endgame yet. Or it just wasn’t hinted till now. Ig only time will tell ;)

but, in truth, his endgame are blond dogs. We all know it. Just admit.

And, I suppose now I have to talk about Daniel. Oh Danny. I was rarely ever that confused with someone’s love affairs. So I have to sort this out a little. I think we have 3 competitors in total.

Now , if you’re like: What, Jay, now that came out of nowhere- yea it did- if you were blind! There have been more than a couple of occasions where he acted differently than all of Daniels other friends. If you still don’t believe me: reread. You’ll find hints. Now, to Daniels ships, I have to say: ANYTHING but Crystal. This is not supposed to be offensive and has nothing to do with bad chemistry, it’s just- too easy. The double body boy x double body girl? Too obvious. It’s like saying there’s a girl who’s supposed to kill Voldemort and she and Harry fall in love. I- I don’t think the creator is going to push that ship. But that’s only my guess.

Honestly, I still hope for Crystal and Eli, but again, just me. Can’t judge if they have an endgame shot, but if it isn’t Daniel and Crystal, they might.

Since the creator has given so much screen and development to Zoe, she has a real shot now. And, really, she went from a total prick to an amazing character. So yeah, that’s most people’s endgame guess. And I see why. It makes sense for Daniel to be with her, esp for his smaller form (though I’m still bothered that she calls him piggy) . For tall Daniel, I don’t see that much sense in it, but if we assume that they stay one person, it’ll automatically make sense as well. So yeah, it’s a cute ship and a good bet. Honestly, I’m still a bit sus about it bc I didn’t know what to think of Zoe for long, but after the thing with Logan, I’m pretty sure she’s good and, up to now, probably the most likely endgame for daniel.

also, who else would she end up with? There’s like no obvious alternative for her so that might hint on a serious ship.

And now last but not least, let’s talk about jay. Secret ninja, always there though never noticed and ready to help daniel out of any problem that might appear. It’s by far the most popular ship amongst fans and by a long shot the most mysterious. Like seriously, I can’t tell why the author included it. I mean, at this point I’d call it canon that jay has a thing for daniel, but you can’t tell the same from danny. Though honestly, he’s shown so less romantic interest in anyone that we must see the possibility of him ending alone. But that doesn’t have to mean anything. Maybe the author just wants to make us uncertain. (Which they managed fabulously, at least with me.) BC for janiel there’s a lot to unpack, I might make another post just for them, there’s no way I can say all that now. So here I’ll just sum it up a bit. Most people don’t believe it’ll happen. They say it’s gay bait, tried representation, and that Daniel isn’t gay. And tbh- I don’t understand all these points. I mean yeah, he did get red when he accidentally looked in Zoe’s décolleté, but that doesn’t necessarily say that he’s not interested in boys at all( though I agree, he’s very likely not (only) gay) . If you know why everybody says they’re not likely to happen, pls tell me.

so, the theory: they might have a shot, but it’s the one where we really can’t be certain of, which is really sad, bc drama and action genre could use a little more representation. But, as always: time will tell. And also, another reason why they might be an actual ship: jay has (like zoe) no obvious alternative.
