Sonny Carisi x Fem!Reader
a/n: I’m like really sad and in my feelings so y’all know I gotta write my feelings out.
Warnings: just slight angst, relationship problems and some light arguing.
Sonny let out a deep huff as he watched you pack your suitcase. “Please, don’t do this, (y/n). I’m sorry! How many times do I have to apologize?” He pleaded.
“When you actually start to mean it, Sonny.” You sniffled and continued to hustle around your shared bedroom. Finding things to pack up in your medium sized suitcase.
You were honestly just packing up for a few days and staying with your sister in Staten Island but still you knew it was gonna be tough for both of you. You really didn’t want to be doing this but you needed a break. Both of you did.
“Please, (y/n) … I’m sure our reservations are still good. I’m sorry...” Sonny continued to beg.
“They’re not. It took me months to even get those.” You said coldly, trying to hold back emotions.
You wanted to forgive him but how could you? This was your anniversary dinner that you and him had been planning for the past seven months. But, like the workaholic Sonny is, he completely forgot and picked up an extra shift. You knew if you had said no to him picking up the shift and reminding him, he would’ve gone. Key word: reminding him. You were constantly reminding him. Reminding him about dates and even small things like picking something up. You tried to forget those but your anniversary dinner? That was almost unforgivable. You shouldn’t have had to remind him about your anniversary. It was his marriage too.
Sonny began to plead again, “I’m sorr- “
“Shut up!” You snapped.
Sonny paused. His mouth slightly agape. He never heard you snap at him like that. He was in absolute shock.
“If you were sorry, you would’ve remembered Sonny. If you cared enough, you would’ve put a reminder on your phone. You put reminders for everything else in your life, work, friends, I mean for God’s sake you had a reminder for Amanda’s birthday!” You cried. “It’s almost like you’re married to her sometimes...”
“You know that’s not true...” Sonny replied.
“What else am I supposed to think? It’s the little things, Sonny! This is starting to feel like the loneliest marriage.” You said as you zipped up your suitcase.
“Where are you going?” Sonny asked, tears forming at the corners of his eyes as he followed you to the door of your apartment.
“I’m going to my sister’s back in Staten Island. I really need a few days. I’ll be back Sunday.” You looked at him as you opened the door.
“Please, just text me when you get there so I know you made it there safely. Please…” He said as he stared at you with those beautiful baby blue eyes of his.
“Okay.” You sighed. “One thing though…” you paused as you grabbed Sonny’s hand and opened up his palm. He looked at you confused. You put it in his palm and closed it back up.
Sonny opened it and saw your wedding ring. Worry immediately colored his face.
“You keep that while you really think about how much this marriage really means to you.” You said before you kissed his cheek and said goodbye.
Sonny’s heart dropped to his stomach when the door closed. Truthfully, he wanted to open the door and chase you, beg you, anything to get you to come back but he knew it was far too late for that. He knew you needed this, he felt horrible thinking about how upset he made you. He closed his eyes and rested his forehead on the closed door momentarily. How could you guys come back from this?
Sonny walked over to the couch and laid down face first. He hoped maybe if he closed his eyes he could wake up back to this morning and really change things. He slowly lifted his head when he felt his phone vibrate.
“Want to join us at Forlini’s??? :)”  Amanda said in a text message along with a selfie of her and the squad.
Sonny contemplated, wondering if he should stay home and wallow in self pity or go try to take his mind off of this shitty evening. He could use a few shots. Also maybe he could get some womanly advice from Amanda and Olivia. Sonny stood up grabbed his coat, house keys and took off.
“There he is.” Amanda said as Sonny walked over to the bar and sat down.
“Hey, guys.” Sonny muttered greeting Fin, Amanda and Olivia.
 “God, you look rough!” Amanda noticed how disheveled Sonny’s hair was and how bloodshot his eyes were.
Sonny could feel the tears welling up again. “(y/n) left me...” as he put his hand over his face wiping his tears.
Sonny could quickly see how fast everyone’s expressions changed.
“What??” Amanda asked in complete shock., “Oh my god, what happened?”
“Bartender, get this man some whiskey!” Fin shouted to the bartender.
“What happened, Carisi? Last time I heard, you and (y/n) were doing good?” Olivia asked.
“Yeah, I thought so too…” Sonny said before he downed the shot of whiskey. “Well, we’ve all been busy with this huge case, and I completely forgot about our anniversary. She had gotten us reservations at this really nice French restaurant she’s been dying to try...”
“Your anniversary? Sonny, how the hell did you forget that?” Amanda griped.
“Can’t say I blame her.” Olivia agreed as she took a sip of her wine.
“Okay, I know.” Sonny said frustrated, taking another shot. “I fucked up really bad this time.” He groaned.
“Where is she?” Amanda asked.
“She left the apartment and said she was going to her sister’s house over in Staten Island.” Sonny sighed, trying desperately to swallow back the tears. “I’m scared she won’t come back.”
“How many shoes did she take with her?” Fin asked.
Sonny raised his brow in confusion. “The only shoes I saw were the ones on her feet.”
“She’ll come back.” Fin chuckled. “You should be worried when she comes back and takes all the shoes.”
Well, that did give Sonny some peace of mind. You were a shoe fiend. You usually pack at least 4 pairs just on small trips.
Sonny knew he fucked up. He couldn’t even picture losing you. You were his everything. You were there since he went from detective to graduating law school and to where he is now, an assistant district attorney. You were there for him every step of the way. He had to fix this. He needed to make it right.
Amanda and Olivia looked at each other and smiled. Somehow telepathically communicating that they had the same idea.
“Look, we’re all gonna help you win her back cause frankly, none of us want to find you crawled up in a ball inside one of the filing rooms on Monday.” Amanda chuckled to Sonny.
“And you know I don’t like comforting people.” Fin said, rolling his eyes as he took a sip of his drink.
“Oh, we both know that’s not true!” Olivia retorted.
“Hey, we don’t need to go spilling all of my secrets!” Fin grinned.
“Okay, so here’s the plan...” Amanda began. Explaining the perfect idea, she had to the squad.
Sonny couldn’t help but smile. He felt that warm fuzzy feeling in his chest. He really loved his squad.
….
It was finally Sunday morning. You walked up to your shared apartment with your husband and unlocked it with your keys. It was about 8 am and you expected Sonny to be asleep still or just waking up.
“Sonny?” You called out. “I’m home.” Your eyebrow raised in confusion when you didn’t get a reply back. “Okay, then.” You mumbled quietly as you placed your bags on the couch.
‘At least he kept the place clean.’ You thought to yourself as you walked across the apartment to the bedroom. You opened the door and much to your surprise your husband wasn’t there, and the bed was made perfectly… Except for the tiny card paired with a white rose sitting on the bed.
Dear, (y/n)
I did a lot of thinking this weekend in your absence. It has been the loneliest. I want you to play a scavenger hunt. There are three more roses I want you to collect with hints. At the end we will be reunited. You ready?
First clue is: The place we laid eyes on each other.
 ‘Well at least the first clue was easy.’ You smiled as you turned around to get ready for what lies ahead of you for today.
You thanked the driver as you exited the taxi. You were outside of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. The place you and Sonny had first met. You were working as Barba’s assistant at the time. You remember that day very clearly. As cheesy as it sounds it really was like love at first sight.
“(Y/n)!” You heard a familiar voice shout. You turned around and saw Fin.
“Fin?” You chuckled as you walked over to him.
“It took you long enough. This is the next clue.” Fin smiled as he handed you an identical paper card and another white rose.
“Are you all involved in this?” You questioned fin.
“Read the damn card. I’m not spoiling anything!” Fin answered.
Woohoo! You got the first clue!
Okay, where did we have our first date?
“He’s lucky I got cab money!” You laughed as you said goodbye to Fin headed onto your next destination. Central Park. You were in deep thought the entire taxi drive to Central Park. You guys almost walked around and hung out at the park that whole date. Where exactly was he thinking?
When you arrived at your destination you strolled around trying to repeat the steps you took that date. You were probably walking around Central Park for about thirty minutes now. Where did he mean?
It was when you walked by a younger couple exchanging a chaste kiss when the lightbulb lit up. The place you two had your first kiss! That was one of the many things that was special about Sonny. He was the first guy you ever kissed on a first date. You had a rule about kissing on the first date and he was the exception. There was just something special that first date that you hadn’t felt before.
You snapped out of your thoughts when you made it to the location. The Bow Bridge. There was just something so romantic about this bridge whether it be the beautiful trees, the lake or just the whole vibe of the spot in general.
“Olivia? Noah?” You called out when you saw Liv and her son Noah looking out over the bridge together.
“Finally, you made it! We’ve been waiting forever.” Noah said as he jumped in excitement.
“Is that so?” You smiled at the excited little boy. “Liv, does he really have all of you involved in this?” You questioned.
“All I can tell you is that you found the other clue.” Olivia smiled as she handed you another card and white rose.
You shook your head with a tiny grin as you opened up the card.
My Love,
You are so close to finding me!
Next clue is where did we confess our love?
“Oh, no way!” You sighed to Olivia already knowing exactly where this was.
“You’re almost done.” She smiled to you.
“Go find him!!! Gooooo!!” Noah shouted as you turned to leave.
“I will!” You said walking away.
This was an easy one. How could you forget? You decided to walk this time to the next spot.  New York City was so beautiful. You couldn’t have imagined having the life you have now seven years ago. Your job, your friends, and importantly, Sonny. Maybe you were too hard on him. Sonny is an amazing guy. He was your first healthy relationship. He’s the first person who ever showed true unconditional pure love.
It was when you saw the familiar blonde ahead of you when you made it to your next clue. The front of your old apartment complex. The place you lived up until you and Sonny were engaged.
“Amanda?” You called out.
“(y/n)!” Amanda said as she brought you into a deep hug. “It’s been a while.” She said, smiling at you.
You felt bad for being jealous of Amanda at times. She was always good to you.
“Manda, it’s good to see you.” You hugged her back. “Are you the last clue before I see my darling husband?” You chuckled.
“Almost.” Amanda said as she pulled out the paper card and white rose.
“You know I’m getting tired of running around this city with all these roses!” You said as you opened the card to read.
You did it!!!
Now, one last spot.
You mentioned this on one of our first dates.
One activity in New York, You dreamed of doing when you were a little girl.
‘He’s so sweet...’ You thought as you stared at the card, you could feel your eyes water up.
“He really loves you, (y/n).” Amanda smiled at you as she looked at the emotion in your face.
“I know...” You said softly as you held the roses closer to your chest.
“Then go to him.” Amanda said as he gave you one last hug. “Go!” She motioned.
“Thank you, Amanda.” You said turning around. Jogging down the busy sidewalk. You knew this wasn’t far.
When you were a little girl, you dreamed of going on a carriage ride around Manhattan. Cheesy, yes. But you were a little girl living in a tiny town. They didn’t have anything like that in your hometown. It was something fantasized about riding around with your Prince Charming. You could feel the tears running down your cheeks.
You started to slow your pace as you saw him. It was a busy street, but you couldn’t miss him. He was so beautiful. Standing there, almost glowing from the bright lights in his favorite suit with an enormous bouquet of white roses and next to him was a horse carriage.
“Sonny!” You shouted! Not caring who was annoyed by your shouting.
“(y/n)!” He shouted back, smiling from ear to ear.
You ran into his arms; you hugged him as tight as you could.
“You found me! I knew you would.” Sonny hugged you back gently, you could tell he was trying to harm the bouquet in his arms.
“I’m sorry Sonny.” You said crying into his chest.
“What? My love, don’t apologize. Never apologize. You woke me up.”
“Huh?” You looked up at your husband confused.
Sonny held his hand to your face, wiping your tears with his thumb. “You made me realize how lucky I was to have you. You supported me when I was a detective, I couldn’t have gotten through law school without you. You have given me a reason to wake up every single morning. You are my beautiful wife, and I couldn’t have been blessed with anyone better.”
“Sonny...” you sniffled.
“I got you white roses because I know they’re your favorites, and I got you three for every amazing year we’ve spent together and these...” Sonny said, handing you the large bouquet. “For many more years we will spend together.” Sonny planted a deep but sweet kiss onto your lips, holding your face in his hands.
“I love you so much.” You smiled at him.
“I love you twice as much.” He smiled back. “Now, I won’t take all of the credit. The squad did help.” Sonny chuckled.
“You still made it all happen, my love.” You said.
“Oh, we can’t forget this!” Sonny said as he pulled your ring out of his pocket and placed it on your finger.
“Did you clean it? It looks so shiny.” You asked admiring your gorgeous ring.
“I did. I remember you were talking about getting it cleaned.” Sonny smiled and kissed your hand. “Still not as beautiful as you.”
You laid a soft kiss on his cheek. “Now, let’s get on this carriage!!” You jumped in excitement.
Sonny couldn’t help but stare at how beautiful you were when you were happy. He watched as you began to climb into the carriage. He was so damn lucky.

It's happening, b*tches! BAU and SVU crossover!
Just because my mind can’t stop thinking about it, here is a sneak peek.
-----------
Summary: The BAU is called to assist the NYPD in a case. You, now a BAU profiler, meet with your former teammates at Manhattan SVU, and some tense moments take place with Captain Olivia Benson, your older sister. Spencer helps you to understand why you feel so weird in a place that used to be your home.
-----------
“How much time McGrath have been there?” Fin asks Rollins and Carisi, pointing to Olivia’s office. They could see their captain and chief arguing through the windows.
“Not much, but it seems pretty heated if you ask me,” Carisi comments, his frown deepening.
“The bosses really must be eating him alive for this case,” Rollins muses from her spot on her desk.
The three of them knew things could turn like this. They were stuck with a serial rapist that has been terrorizing the city, and who added the ‘murderer’ label to his record with the past two victims.
“Do you think the captain would contain the damage?” Carisi questions, looking at Fin. The man shrugs.
“I don’t know. But by now this is more politics than justice. So anything could happen.”
As a cue, McGrath storms from Olivia’s office, barely paying attention to the three pairs of eyes focused on him. After he disappears from the squad room, Olivia comes out of her office and joins the peanut gallery.
“How bad?” Rollins asks. Olivia sighs and purses her lips.
“Considering? I think that went well,” she declares, grabbing a cup and a pot from a shelf in the corner and pouring herself some coffee.
“But?” Fin adds, anticipating the potential bad news.
“It already looks bad for 1PP, so they need to be more ‘proactive’,” Olivia air-quotes, before sipping her newly served coffee. “They called the FBI to assist us.”
The three of them pull a face. They know that having the feds around, the job will be harder to do. Olivia recognizes those faces.
“I know what you are thinking, but is beyond me. At this point, they want to bring the whole Marines here so, for me, the feds don’t look the worst option now.”
“Captain, one question though. Who in the FBI would be interested in this kind of mess?” Carisi asks and Olivia hums before answering.
“Have you heard about the BAU?”
Fin jumps at the mention.
“Wait a minute. Did you say BAU? The (Y/N)’s BAU?”
Olivia nods.
“Yes. That BAU, indeed,” she replies and then sips her coffee again.
-----------
Okay, for now, the SVU team has Fin, Rollins, Carisi and Olivia. Barba as ADA, as season 16, but here Benson is Captain already. The BAU team is the one in season 13, but I’m actively avoiding Rossi and JJ in the scene (fight me if you want).

Buy You Dinner?
Fandom: SVU
Series: One Shot (maybe...)
Pairing/s: Carisi x Reader
Warning/s: reference to a rape and murder case
Word Count: 1,083
Summary: Carisi finally gets the nerve to ask you to dinner after a difficult case ends in tragedy.
Tumblr media
It had been a long day. You'd been on your feet since before 9 and all you wanted to do was get out of the office and get some food.
You were on your way out when you noticed Carisi catch up to you. "Y/N," he called, causing you to turn.
"Hey Carisi," you smiled. Although you were tired, you always had time for him. You'd been fast friends since he joined SVU, what, six years ago? Had it really been that long?
Late nights working cases and talking about anything and everything had brought you close, but not as close as you'd have liked. Still, he never hinted he wanted to be anything more than friends, so you'd never said anything, what good would that have done?
"You heading home?" He asked, hands in pockets. He almost looked, nervous.
"Yeah I was," you told him. Was he about to ask you to stay and give him a hand with a case? You hoped not, but you would if you were needed.
"You doing anything?" He continued. God you so didn't want to remain in these walls for another minute longer, but you couldn't lie.
"Not really, just going to get some food," you answered honestly.
"Me too," he said. Okay, so not about staying for work, then what... "do you, I don't know, maybe want to grab dinner with me? You don't have to I just-"
"I'd like that," you answered, quicker than you'd meant to, it just kind of came out as soon as you realised what Carisi was asking.
"You would?" He blinked, looking a little shocked but pleased by your speedy reply.
You nodded and smiled, not wanting your mouth to betray your eagerness anymore, hoping to come off as more casual than you just had.
"Great, er, let me just grab my jacket," he pointed back to the bull pen and his desk and you agreed, watching him walk back.
Had Carisi just asked you on a date? It sounded like it, but after six years you didn't want to jump to conclusions, he might just want to grab dinner as friends. Still, why would he have been nervous about that?
He returned quickly, slipping his jacket on as he headed back over to you. "There's this new mediterranean place down the street, that's your favourite right?"
"Yeah it is, I've been meaning to check that out," you told him with a smile, pleased he remembered.
"Shall we?" He checked.
"Sounds perfect," you replied, leaning more towards the fact that this was a date. That place was nice, and definitely not somewhere you two had ever been together in the past, not when it was just the two of you.
The walk was peaceful, and you casually chatted about each other's days to relieve some of the tension and awkwardness. You'd been friends for so long you realised he was also worried about this date going well.
You got to the restaurant and we mercifully seated immediately. Sonny pulled out your chair to sit and then seated himself, ever the gentleman.
"Drink?" He passed you the drinks menu, noticing the impressive selection of wines.
"I wouldn't even know where to start," you admitted and he laughed, "why don't you make a recommendation?"
He grinned, ordering a bottle of red that you'd never even heard of as the waiter came to take your drinks order.
"Trust me," he told you with a wink when you looked like you were about to ask about his choice. You stopped yourself, you did trust him.
He shared out the food menus and you sat for a minute in silence looking at the options. Well, he might have been, you couldn't really focus on the words, instead glancing up at Sonny when he wasn't looking, not realising he was doing the same with you.
"Can ask you something?" You said at last, chewing over the thought in your head as you watched him.
"Huh? Yeah, of course," he put the menu down, giving you his undivided attention and your stomach couldn't help but flutter.
"What took you so long?" You asked, smiling and placing your own menu down.
"To ask you out?" He checked.
"Yes C- Sonny, to ask me out," you laughed, nearly slipping into your usual habit of calling him Carisi. You couldn't quite pinpoint the emotion that flashed across his face when you called him Sonny, but you could tell he didn't mind.
"Honestly? I didn't know you were interested," he admitted with a sheepish shrug.
"You didn't?" You couldn't hide your surprise.
"Well, I guess Fin and Liv said you were, but I didn't want to assume..." It sounded silly to him now, saying it out loud.
"So what made you change your mind?" You asked, your curiosity getting the better of you. You were glad he had, of course, you'd been wanting this moment for a long time, but something must have happened to give him the nudge he needed.
"This case, a couple, I won't go into details over dinner, but she... didn't make it," he began to explain, voice getting low towards the end.
"Yeah I heard about that, I'm sorry," your face softened in sympathy. Carisi had been in court today trying her rapist and murderer, according the Fin it had been pretty brutal; you shivered.
"Me too," he said distantly before clearing his throat and continuing, "anyway, her husband said to me after, that it hadn't been enough time. I said it never is, and he said no, they'd known each other for years, but he'd waited and waited to ask her out, thinking they had all the time in the world. He hadn't really considered that their time would run out. I guess I realised that sitting on my ass wasn't doing anyone any good, if I asked and you said no, at least I'd know, but..."
"I said yes," you finished for him, feeling more emotional than you'd expected. Had he really felt this way this whole time?
"That you did," he replied longingly, raising his glass in toast.
"I'm glad you asked" you told him honestly, bringing your glass to his.
"I'm glad I asked," he brought his glass down but his eyes lingered on yours, a soft smile on his face that you knew was mirrored on yours.
Okay, maybe you weren't entirely thinking about dinner anymore, but by the glint in his eyes, you weren't sure he was either...

Summary: Sonny agrees to go undercover with (Y/n) in a sex trafficking ring, but he can’t stop her getting hurt.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
"(Y/n)? Would you infiltrate, he knows Amanda but he hasn't seen you yet."
"I'll go with her, he hasn't seen me either and it'll be safer."
Why did she agree to this? The mere thought of going undercover in a sex trafficking ring at a pimping party set her skin on edge and made her stomach churn horribly. She could get hurt, someone could try get handsy with her and she would break her cover fighting them off. What if she got cornered and hurt or assaulted?
Her nerves were barely controlled on the job, how would she be going under cover like this?
But Sonny was going with her. He wasn't about to let her go into a room full of pimps without at least one person in there with her that she knew and could trust. And who better to go in there with her than her own boyfriend. He could have her on his arm, wrap himself around her like a vine as he always does and get snarky with anyone trying to touch her and they wouldn't wonder why because she would be his girl.
A tingle ran down (Y/n)'s spine when her eyes cast down to look at what she was wearing for what felt like the hundredth time in a minute.
She had on a tight-fitting bright crimson dress with ruffles along the waist and spaghetti straps on the arms. The dress appraised her curves and figure lovely but the problem was that the hem barely covered her bum and sat on the very tops of her thighs. If she moved in the wrong way it would become a long shirt rather than a dress and her matching red lace underwear would be on show for everyone to leer at.
Her hands moved to pull down the dress again, wanting it at least another two inches down her thighs just to feel safe and protected but it slowly ruffled its way back up her legs again.
Her lips were smeared a darker shade of red and her hair was pinned up in a sultry style that always had Sonny on edge.
When her eyes landed on Sonny, her stomach tensed but for a different reason this time. His hair was slicked back into a curly wave as usual, but he was wearing black, high waisted trousers that clung to and showed off his hips. Tucked into the waistband of the trousers was the white dress shirt he wore which he had rolled up at the sleeves and the first two buttons undone. He was a sight for lustering eyes but when his own eyes found (Y/n), they seemed to widen like dark pools filling with desire.
"Wow... you look stunning, doll."
Sonny advanced over to (Y/n) and wrapped an arm around her lower waist before he pressed his lips to her temple, not wanting to smudge the rouge on her lips just yet.
"Careful Mr Carisi, you're on camera." A smirk pulled at (Y/n)'s lips when her eyes cast down to her cleavage and her finger tapped at the ruby hanging on a chain around her neck. It looked simple enough, the people they were investigating would know anyone in their group couldn't afford a real gem. But it would be impossible for any of them to realise that it was really a secret hidden camera to record the nights events.
"I'll have to bear that in mind, you ready?"
(Y/n) took a deep breath and tried one last failed attempt to pull down her dress before she nodded and walked ahead towards the lift.
"Sonny!" His name came out in a gasp when (Y/n) felt his hand come down and land a loud smack to her ass.
"What, I'm just getting into character." He shrugged his shoulders with a smirk that could kill, knowing that his girl was blushing because they were still in the precinct and eyes were now burning holes into them.
It was going to be an eventful night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Casting his eyes to the right, Sonny watched (Y/n) accept a glass of wine with a sultry smile, noticing her lipstick smearing around the rim of the glass with wine as red as her dress. He watched her hips sway and bounce from side to side as she slowly passed between the people dotted around the room. Her head dipping down as a silent hello, batting her lashes at a few people to try and make herself fit in.
He didn't like the way people were looking at her.
Granted, Sonny knew they were looking at her in a hungry, devouring way because they expected every girl here to be limitless and available to them and their looks meant that (Y/n) was blending in just fine. But he still didn't like it. Their eyes were looking far too long at his girl, the one he was here to protect and keep a watchful eye on.
If he lost sight of her for even a minute, someone could try and whisk her away to a secluded room and that was not going to happen.
Moving around, Sonny sat himself down on the end seat of the sofa to his left and took a swig of the beer in his hand. He had to at least look like he was meant to be here and enjoying himself somewhat.
"Hmm, fancy coming with me to the back for some... fun?"
A shudder ran down the base of (Y/n)'s spine at the crude tone of voice coming from a rather sleezy looking man. His grin showed crooked, discoloured teeth and his breath reeked of alcohol, more prominently, of gin. (Y/n) could practically feel the grease dripping off him and when he slid up close to her side she had to stop herself from gagging and try to look a little swayed. She was meant to be a sex worker, a girl who was hurt into submission, told that no was not something she could say.
She was supposed to pretend to be easy-going, up for anything and anyone because that was how every other girl and woman was at this party and she couldn't stick out like a sore thumb.
"Ha, you'd have to ask the boss about that." (Y/n) darted her tongue over her lips before pressing them together and tilting her head down, smiling devilishly at the revolting man. She curled a strand of hair around her finger before consciously biting her finger to try and put on a seductive show.
Her head turned in Sonny's direction but it seemed that he had heard the conversation so a desperate look wasn't needed to get him to help her out.
His arm swooped out in one swift motion and curled around her waist like a hook that reeled her in. His fingers sank softly into her hip but with a firmness that showed the protectiveness inside him was growing. Sonny effortlessly pulled (Y/n) down to sit on his lap, his heart jumping at the sound of her surprised giggle before she made herself comfy against him.
"My girl here is off limits 'til tonight, right sweetheart?" Sonny locked eyes with the drunk pimp whilst he pressed his lips to (Y/n)'s neck, biting the sweet spot beneath her jaw  just to feel her tremble against him like jelly.
(Y/n) could only find it in herself to nod along with his words, unable to speak while his lips were at work against her neck.
Her head tipped back against Sonny's shoulder and she placed light kisses against his neck, feeling a groan grumbling against his Adam's apple at the touch causing his arm to tighten around her waist. At least this way they could stay close and be comfortable with each other without worrying that they were going to draw the wrong kind of attention to themselves tonight.
It felt like hours had passed as more people buzzed into the house, grabbing drinks, spilling drinks, exchanging intimate kisses and touches and drunk girls giggling. (Y/n) had seen a few girls clock out of the room and disappear upstairs before coming back down trying to rearrange their hair and clothes, a few of them with saddened eyes and shaking limbs.
Downing the wine remaining in her glass, (Y/n) tipped her head further back against Sonny's shoulder and the back of the sofa, wishing they were at home instead of this pimp house that reeked of alcohol and drugs.
(Y/n) had shimmied from side to side, turning to make sure the camera in her necklace got a good view of everyone here and all the girls so they could find out who they were and make sure when they raided this place, everyone was accounted for.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sonny couldn't keep a close eye on (Y/n) when the raid started.
He had tried to push her behind him the moment the others burst through the door and announced the house was under arrest. He knew that (Y/n) didn't have her gun with her, she managed to tuck her badge into her tights just near her underwear since it was the only concealed place she had on her. But she didn't have anywhere to stash her gun, the dress would outline the bulky weapon too easily and it couldn't exactly stay down her cleavage with the dress being low cut and people constantly leering at her.
But somewhere along the line she had moved from behind him to tackle a pimp trying to run through the kitchen to make a break for his escape and Sonny was too preoccupied on pinning and cuffing the man he had tackled to the floor.
"What are you doing, come on we need to get out!" a girl in a skimpy leaf green dress grabbed (Y/n)'s hand and tried to pull her up the stairs, hoping no officers were there so she could climb out a window and make a break for the streets. All the girls had their own safe places to go and meeting points to get back to their pimps or other working girls.
"The officers will keep you safe, they're not here to hurt you." (Y/n) held the girl's hand, smiling gently to try encourage her down to Olivia.
"I don't know who your fancy man is, but mine won't bail me out if I get caught. W-what are you doing?"
A spark of fear tremored in the girl's stomach when (Y/n) shook her head and reached under her dress to grab her badge.
"If he loved you, he wouldn't sell you for two crumpled notes. Why live like this when you can take a hand and get proper help?" (Y/n) didn't exactly wait for an answer, she used the girl's stunned silence to shock her and drag her down the stairs towards Olivia. The girl was going to protest, it was clear as day in her eyes but (Y/n) didn't have time to debate with her whether she thought she deserved any better than this life.
Bypassing Olivia very swiftly, the girl dodged past Amanda and Sonny and ran through the kitchen, only turning her head when she heard (Y/n)'s voice behind her and saw one of the men beckoning her to hurry and follow him to escape.
Sonny's head snapped to the left when a gunshot rang through the air making them all stop, wondering who started firing again.
A gut-wrenching sound left his lips when he watched (Y/n)'s head snap back towards her back and her body tumbled backwards as if someone had given her a shove off the edge of a cliff. The way she crumbled to the tiled floor made bile jump up Sonny's throat as tears fell from his eyes.
She was shot.
Silent prayers rattled round his head as he skidded and stumbled on the polished floor, discarding his gun before he headed towards his girl. He could see the blood trickling down the side of her head and starting to drip onto the floor like a leaky tap.
"Baby? Oh Doll can you hear me? Baby... baby!"
Sonny's voice trembled but got louder and louder with each syllable until he was almost screaming the words at her begging for her to open her eyes and look at him or wake up or move a finger, just do something. His hands shook as he cupped her face in his palms, trying to see where she had been shot.
Moving his fingers, Sonny dabbed his fingertip against the left side of (Y/n)'s temple, parting her hair so he could see the damage. She was breathing, he could hear the soft scraping noise of air leaving her nostrils but when she fell, he could have sworn the bullet had gone to her head and no one could survive that, surely.
Her hair was soaking with blood, each strand was turning dark rouge, sticking to his fingers like smudged ink or jam and making it harder for him to part her hair to see her scalp and assess the damage. Sonny growled before letting go of (Y/n)'s face and using both hands to part her hair, seeing there was a long gash on the side of her head an inch above her ear. She hadn't been shot like he thought, the bullet had scraped deeply against her head but it wasn't lodged into her skull or skin.
The breath of utter relief that Sonny let out came as a choked cry before he went back to cradling (Y/n)'s face in his hands, smoothing his bloodied thumbs over her skin.
"I need a bus!" He snapped his jaw like a crocodile before his tone changed and he looked back to (Y/n). "Baby... wake up doll, come back round to me."
Scanning his eyes around him, Sonny sat back on his heels and ripped the bottom of his shirt, scrunching it up before he pressed it to the side of (Y/n)'s temple. He had to keep the blood flow at a minimum until she got to the hospital and got the care she needed. He brushed the hair from her face, holding back from shaking her shoulder in a desperate attempt to wake her.
A breathless noise left Sonny's lips when (Y/n)'s eyes slowly started to flutter like the wings of a butterfly. He could see she couldn't get her vision in focus but her lips parted and a dry, croaky gurgle vibrated against her throat and a dribble of blood trickled down her lips.
"Baby, I've got you it's all gonna be okay... baby?"
Sonny couldn't quite work out the look on (Y/n)'s face, her eyes were half lidded, her lips were spitting blood and groaning but it was the way her muscles pinched at the cheeks and her lips moved into a wobbling shape like she was made of wax and starting to melt. He could see (Y/n)'s hand trying to move but she couldn't find the ability or energy to move it properly, only shake it an inch from the ground, her fingers curled at odd angles, shuffling and seeming to indicate to her head.
"You're hurt Doll but I'm gonna take care of you, shh doll don't- what?" Sonny gently took hold of her hand and lowered it back to her side, he didn't know what she was trying to point at or do but she didn't need to burn energy trying to move. She had to stay still in case she had any nerve damage to her head or neck.
Such a noise like a mewling kitten trying to scream left her lips and her face contorted into one of agony making Sonny's heart break deep in his chest.
She couldn't hear him.
(Y/n) was trying to scream, to talk, to make any noise she could but she couldn't hear herself or anything around her. His words weren't comforting because they weren't reaching her ears.
"Okay Doll, let's get you help."
He had to get her outside and see if any medics were about to help, he had to find someone to help her, she'd been shot for God's sake.
Taking extreme car when moving his hands behind (Y/n)'s head and neck, he slowly shifted her head so it was leaning against his shoulder, the rag of shirt pressing to her wound now trapped between her head and his shoulder to keep stemming the blood flow. He could feel her chest vibrating, trying to make some noise and show she was awake and in immense pain but her voice was too quiet for him to make out what she was trying to say.
Sonny slowly slipped an arm under her knees, his other arm protectively and strongly around her upper back before he cradled her to his chest like he was protecting an endangered child.
"I need a medic here! Don't worry Doll, you'll be okay."
Since Rollins is leaving the show, I've been hearing that Carisi (not sure how to spell his name) and Rollins get married and he leaves too?! As much as I would hate for him to leave, does anyone else think we could get Barba back??????!!!!!!! I really hope he comes back. There's so much unresolved tension between him and Olivia and I think Olivia is conflicted on her feelings for him and Stabler and loves them both. I want her with Barba though!
Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Weeks had passed since that night. Olivia sat across from Elliot every day, taking glances at him every once and a while but he never looked her way. Things were different between them; it would never be the way that it was before. She couldn’t stand them being like this and she wanted to do something but Elliot was ‘taking some time off’ as Cragen said which meant that she couldn’t do much now, all she could do was wait for him to come back, she wasn’t going to be that girl who would call him over and over again waiting to hear where he was.
Sitting at her desk, Olivia sighed as she looked at all of the paperwork that had to be done. Another negative with Elliot being away was that all of the paperwork was left for her to do, meaning that she was at the precinct until late, not that she didn’t do that before but now it was all the time. She was exhausted, not that she would admit that.
Olivia groans as she puts her head in her hands, a wave of nausea goes through her and she takes a deep breathe. “You okay Olivia” Alex asks her as she stands over her desk with a cup of coffee in her hands. Olivia looks up and nods.
“Yeah, I'm fine just tired” Olivia comments before turning back to the paperwork. Alex nods at her before walking over and knocking on Cragen's door. Olivia sighs again before picking up her pen and writing.
Minutes later, Fin and Munch walk in with food in their hands. “Hey Liv” Fin says walking over to her with his sandwich in his hand.
“We talked to that witness for the case and lets the vibes that they were giving me and the way they were acting makes me think that there is something going on wi...” Fin tells her. Olivia gets a whiff of his sandwich and her hand goes to her mouth and she shoots up of her chair and runs towards the toilets.
Alex and Cragen come out of his office with confused looks on their faces. “What's going on?,” Cragen asks Fin who all he can do is shrug. “No idea cap, but I will say that she did look a little pale,” he comments. Alex nods, “she didn’t look great when I came in either, I'm going to go check on her,” she says before walking off towards the toilet. “Alex makes sure you tell her that if she is sick then take a day, I don’t need a sick detective” he calls to her. Alex nods, “got it.”
Alex walks into the toilet and hears Liv throwing up in the stall. “Liv” she says as she knocks on the stall. Olivia groans, “I'm fine” she calls. Alex shakes her head and sighs. “Liv come on we both know you not fine”. Olivia opens the stall door and looks at Alex before walking to the sink. “Seriously Alex I am fine,” she repeats while washing her hands. “Maybe you should take a sick day, I mean you have been working you ass off since Stabler decided to take some time off” she comments and Olivia shakes her head with a slight smirk on her face. “Trust me, him taking time off was the best thing for him and me” Olivia comments before walking to the door. “What does that mean” Alex asks curiously. Olivia freezes for a second before speaking, “nothing, we just...” she sighs. “We just needed space was all” she says before opening the door and walking out.
Alex follows her out into the hall. “Liv...” she speaks but Olivia cuts her off. “Alex please I don’t need this right now "she starts as she turns and faces Alex. “No, I'm not going to pry I just need to tell you that Cragen says to take a day. He says he doesn’t need a sick detective”. Olivia looks at her and nods. “Okay, thanks” as she turns and walks back to her desk. Maybe taking a day would do her some good.
Close call
This is a Sonny Carisi imagine that was requested by the lovely @musicistheway and I’ve had it in my inbox for quite a while now but didn’t have the inspiration until now to write it. Sorry it took so long but I hope you like it, and I am hopefully doing a follow up part.
Summary: After Sonny arrests a gang member, he gets a call from his wife, the gang have broken into their house and their newborn baby is there.
Enjoy.
Tumblr media
"Okay, we've got another rape and assault on our hands."
Those words flooded round the squad room and told everyone that their shifts just got interesting and were going to end on a hectic note. Their shifts had started four hours ago and now they were getting right into business since the morning had been pretty slow all things considered.
For the past week, there had been a gang going round the streets, picking on young women who were alone. They had gone from merely assaulting them to actually raping them and they had attacked four women so far, now this made it five.
"The same gang again?" Sonny rubbed his hand over his eyes to liven himself up a bit.
The long shifts they were on were starting to take a toll on him, especially since he had a three-month-old baby girl at home so when he finished his shift, night-time was the only time of day he had to spend with her. That consisted of Sonny going straight to her for a cuddle and a chat when he got home, spending some time with (Y/n), then waking through the night to tend to Lilah.
(Y/n) had tried to talk him out of it, she was on maternity leave and tried to get up during the night to feed and settle Lilah so he could sleep but Sonny wouldn't let her. She told him that he needed sleep because he was at work but he knew if he slept then he wasn't getting the precious time he wanted with his daughter.
"I suspect so, it's the same MO. Two guys this time, grabbed her on a quiet side street where there were no security cameras and attacked her. She managed to scratch one of the men so when the rape kit comes back his DNA should be under her fingernails and we match it to one of the suspects."
Sitting down at his desk, Sonny took a large gulp of his coffee before he tipped his head back and closed his eyes for a few moments. He had been desperate to get back home to his wo girls all day since the moment he turned up to work.
Sonny didn't realise how hard he would find it to leave Lilah at home and come to work. Whenever he had to settle her down from his arms he felt like he wanted to cry, it wasn't fair. He wanted more time off from the team so he could be with her and (Y/n).
When he opened his eyes he found his focus zooming in on the picture frame resting on the corner of his desk.
The first time he held Lilah.
(Y/n) loved that photo due to how cheesy his smile was and that she could see the tears on his cheeks. He had the sleeves of his shirt rolled up to his elbows and the buttons undone so Lilah could rest against his chest and get skin contact with him.
"Carisi, Rollins go grab Leon our main suspect and get him here to be interviewed."
Sonny heaved himself from his chair and sluggishly followed Amanda, clipping his badge onto his belt and holding his jacket in the crook of his arm as he walked.
"Lilah keep you up last night?" Amanda glanced her eyes over to Sonny when they were sat in her car. A smile formed on her lips when she watched his eyes soften yet light up at the same time and a lopsided grin formed on his lips. The pair of them could always have a conversation about anything and everything even when they were at work and what they had to do for a living.
"Yeah, she's got a bad chest so (Y/n)'s taking her to the doctors today. But you know, I spent half the night in the rocking chair with her on my chest and I just wanna go do it again."
For the past few days Lilah had been having a bad cough and crackling breaths so (Y/n) had gotten a doctors appointment for her to be checked over. It hurt Sonny during the night when he heard her crying in a gritty, deep way and then turning into coughs that were so meek since she was a baby but they somehow cut right through Sonny's heart.
But when he sat and rested his little girl on his chest and slowly rocked the chair with his heels, he felt peace flooding through him in waves.
It didn't take them long to reach the usual hangout spot for the gang they were pursuing in this investigation and to their amusement, all five members of the gang were there. Stood and sat around a bench in the broken down park that was mainly used as a meeting ground for the gangs and people desperate to buy drugs.
This was the part of the city Sonny didn't like, where they would find places for kids that were used for illegal reasons and for the low lives to try their luck against the system. It didn't sit right with him because of Lilah, if he and (Y/n) lived in this area where would they take her? Where around here was safe for young kids?
"Hey Leon, how you doing?" Sonny smiled as he and Amanda slowly approached the gang. He kept his hands deep in his pockets and nudged the side of his blazer to show off his badge, just in case any of them got any funny ideas.
"What can I do for you, officer? Brought me a pretty girl to play with?" The boy who couldn't be older than twenty two at the latest, gave a sickening grin and pulled up the joggers he was wearing. When his eyes flashed over to Amanda she rose a brow at him and jutted her hip so he could see the badge. Not that he would care, she could see that he wasn't going to think or see her as a detective.
"How about an alibi for this morning, can you manage that?"
Amanda placed her hand on her hip as a sigh passed through her lips, this was going to be easy to get him down to the station but not easy to get him to talk unless it was bullshit that passed through his lips.
"I was out and about with my boys."
"Ahh... where did you get the scratches?" Sonny pointed to Leon's lower arm and the one on his neck that had dried blood around it which they could take for a sample to be sent down to the lab. Their victim had scratched the man who had attacked her and this seemed much too big of a coincidence.
"My girl gets feisty, you want her name?"
"Yeah I do, and I want the three of you to come with us for a chat." Sonny pointed to the two other boys sitting on the bench with him. He knew for certain that the other two boys weren't the ones they were looking for.
Leon was the main perpetrator, the one doing all the assaults and was now escalating to rape. The two next to him were starting to join in but the two younger ones at the back weren't involved, they were new to the group, they wouldn't be trusted quite yet to join in their crime spree. They only needed the main ones to come in and be questioned because if they didn't have good alibi's and the DNA from Leon and possibly one of the other boys matched, then their case was solid.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Am I free to go?"
The smug look on Leon's face was lighting a fire inside Sonny making him want to be jury and judge rolled into one just so he could convict him. It was clear he had done it, his attitude, the look on his face, the weak and useless alibi that wasn't going to hold up in court. But what was more infuriating was that Leon seemed happy about what had happened to the victims even when he was saying he didn't know them or what had happened, he was slightly smiling when he looked at their photos.
Before Sonny had the chance to respond through gritted teeth and say he might be able to go soon, his head turned when the door opened. Finn poked his head into the interview room and with one little nod of his head at Sonny, the tables drastically turned.
"Until next time, detective... Carisi." Scraping his chair along the floor, Leon stood to his feet with such a sickening, toothy grin that made Sonny clench his fists.
But the smile faltered when Sonny also stood up, his hands shoving into his pockets as he slowly walked backwards until he was stood in front of the door with his back leaning against it. His hips arched out and his back bent to rest on the door, showing off his slender, tall figure. It was clear that Leon thought Finn's nod was to let him go, when in reality it was the total opposite.
"Well... you see Leon, I can't let you go just yet. Those scratches on your arms and neck means whoever did that had your DNA under their nails, and your DNA has come back a match for the blood and skin under the victim's nails. That's enough for us to charge you so I guess you're staying here."
The smug look on Leon's face turned to one of anger and hatred, his pale skin started to turn a darker shade of red as his chest puffed out like he was gearing up for a fight that was never going to happen.
"You want that lawyer now?"
"This is a set up! You're lying."
The moment Leon lashed his hand out, Sonny grabbed his wrist and clipped his cuff around his wrist, hearing the gritting sound of it locking around Leon's wrist. In a split second, Sonny grabbed Leon's shoulder and spun him until his front hit the one way glass to prevent him from even trying to fight when he tried to lunge. Both hands were then cuffed behind his back before Sonny walked him out of the room.
"Why don't you wait in holding until we get you a lawyer."
The tiredness Sonny felt earlier had washed away a few hours ago and was replaced by a burst of adrenaline and the swell of pride in his chest. That meant that their case was strong, they needed the victim to ID Leon and one of the other boys and then the ball was officially rolling and they could call Barba in for the next steps.
"Carisi..."
Olivia's lips curved into a small, tight-lipped smile since there were still suspects in the squad room but when she looked at Sonny, she dipped her head in the direction of the drink station in the corner of the room to show him who had walked in.
It was unmissable by the rest of the team the way Sonny seemed to melt and grow brighter at the same time when his eyes set on his wife standing in the corner of the room leaning against the coffee counter. But it was the little bundle she held in her arms that had captured all of the squad's attention.
"Hey sweetheart."
A warm smile flooded (Y/n)'s face and her eyes intently followed her husband as he rounded the corner and advanced over to her. His arms were around her in an instant, warm, comforting and tight yet gentle at the same time to protect the life she was holding in her arms. His warm lips pressed to the top of her head and she could feel his hand rubbing up and down her lower back before he slowly pulled back to look at her.
He didn't have to say anything for (Y/n) to know what he wanted.
Looking down at her chest, (Y/n) gently moved Lilah a bit higher up in her arms before she extended her girl over to Sonny.
"Ooh, hey there gorgeous. How's my baby?"
Sonny couldn't help how wide his lips curved when he reached for Lilah, it was just the effect she had on him. He gently held her sides and took her weight from (Y/n), moving Lilah so she was resting against his chest instead with her head just under his neck. His hands moved to cradle the back of her head and under her bum to support her weight before he slowly turned his upper body side to side.
He loved how she instantly seemed to snuggle closer to him, her ocean blue eyes tiredly peeking around to see where she was, curiosity and wonder filling her orbs.
"She's got an infection so we've got meds to give her but she'll be fine." (Y/n) smoothed her palm over the back of Lilah's head before she moved to Sonny's side so she could rest her head on his upper arm and cuddle into him.
Sonny pressed his lips to the top of Lilah's head and moved his hand to brush her cheek. He felt his chest tingling when her ruby lips parted in what seemed like wonder, showing her bare gums before her small tongue moved to rest against her lower lip like she was waiting for a lollipop.
The small action made Sonny chuckle and when he stroked his index finger against her lips, it tickled as she started to move her lips and kiss his finger. He let her dab her gums around his finger and drool onto his hand because she presumably thought his hand was a pacifier.
"Rollins, look who's here to visit."
Amanda could see the proud look on Sonny's face and the beaming smile on his face showed he wanted to show off Lilah to them all. Sonny had kept the pregnancy a secret from the rest of the team right up until (Y/n) rang and said she was going into labour, that was the first time any of the team- apart from Olivia, knew anything about his personal relationship. He had then brought Lilah in when she was a week old to meet the team but other than that it was simply a few photos they had glanced at.
"Oh Carisi she's a stunner." Amanda gently brushed her hand over Lilah's head where there were a few wisps of blonde hair beginning to grow. It was sweet so see this side of Sonny, he was very chatty and talked about his sisters, his growing up with his parents and he would chat about (Y/n). But now he had Lilah to beam about and this was amazing to see him so different than he was on the job.
"Course she is." Sonny continued to gently rock her up and down against his chest, watching as she reached her hand out to bat at Amanda for attention.
"Finn..." Olivia motioned with her hand for him to come over to her as she took a few steps towards her office to be out of earshot of both the rest of the team and from the suspects in the lock up unit. "We've got Leon in custody, set the other two back out on the streets, I don't want them trying to plan anything in here. Get surveillance on them."
The three of them looked pretty cosy in the lock up unit in the back corner of the squad room and Olivia didn't like it. They needed to be kept separate or at least out the way of Leon while he waited for a lawyer and got his remand or bail set out when Barba arrived. Nor did she like the way Leon was sending daggers over to Sonny and Amanda.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay, run me through the second attack, the motive, the injuries, evidence..." Barba waved his hand out in front of him to indicate that he needed to know the same details as they had just explained about the first of the four attacks the gang had committed. He perched himself on the edge of the desk behind him and took a large sip of his coffee, waiting for them to walk him through it.
Sonny did a quick scan through of the victim's examination photos that logged her injuries before he leaned and passed them to Barba so he could see what she had gone through. She may not have been raped but they had sexually assaulted her and she had been beaten up.
Sonny's eyes darted down to his side and he ruffled his hand in his pocket to grab his phone, a flash of worry sparking through his eyes when he saw that it was (Y/n) ringing him.
He had told Olivia this morning when he arrived twenty minutes late that he might need to take a call from (Y/n). He'd been up most of the night with Lilah since her cough had gotten worse and she had a temperature. It had taken everything in him to let (Y/n) persuade him to come into work and she said she would ring if there was any change.
"Sergeant, I..."
"Go ahead." Olivia nodded when she saw Sonny pointing to his phone, she knew what it was like to have a sick child and need to be on hand in case there was any news.
"Hey sweetheart, how is she, is everything okay?"
Taking a few steps away from the team, Sonny leaned his hip against his desk and rested his hand on his free hip. He couldn't help the worry that was rattling through him, either she was going to tell him that Lilah was better and he didn't have to worry or she would say that they might need to go to hospital because she had gotten worse.
(Y/n) hardly ever rang Sonny at work unless it was an emergency, she always texted him.
"Sonny... s-someone's in the house."
"What?"
He couldn't breathe. Who was in his house, what was she talking about? Why was she whispering so quietly that he had to put his finger in his ear so he could listen to her better? Why was her voice trembling like there was someone there shaking her by the shoulders?
"Sweetheart talk to me, who's in the house with you?"
"I don't know, I- I think they were in the holding cell yesterday... they-" (Y/n)'s words halted and a small squeak left her lips when she heard the sound of glass smashing downstairs. Her body was trembling making it harder for her to keep the phone pressed to her ear and keep Lilah quiet in her arm.
Sonny heard the distant sound of something breaking and it sent a shiver down his spine. Someone (Y/n) may have seen when she was here yesterday had decided to go and break into his house! They were trying to hurt or terrorise his family.
"They keep calling your name, d-did you arrest someone? They said you made a mistake... Sonny they know about Lilah, t-they're shouting, a-asking where's the baby."
Leon.
His boys had been let out yesterday because they had no evidence to arrest them or keep them in custody. Finn said they had surveillance on them in case they tried to assault someone on their own without Leon. But they were in his house! They were in Sonny's house frightening his wife and trying to harm his little baby girl.
No! Not my daughter!
"Where are you sweetheart?"
"The bathroom."
(Y/n) had been downstairs in the lounge when she heard the glass window in the kitchen door being broken and voices shouting at her. The moment she heard the windows being broken and the door banging open she had gone into the hallway and shut the dining room door so the kitchen and dining room were closed off. She then clicked the lock on the old door before hurrying upstairs to get Lilah.
She knew it wouldn't be long before they got out and tried to find her but she had to try and hide. But there was nowhere for her to hide unless she wanted to be in the wardrobe in her and Sonny's room but it wasn't that large and they would easily find her in there.
The bathroom was the only room upstairs with a lock on the inside and that's what she needed right now.
"No sweetheart they'll know when they see the door shut they'll break the lock easy. Just give me one second okay, I'll stay on the phone I promise."
Sonny didn't realise he's started to shake with rage until he ran back over to where the rest of the team were still focusing on the victims like they were the only ones. Now it was Sonny's wife and daughter who were the newest victims and he couldn't have anything happening to them.
"They're at my house!"
Sonny's sudden outburst confused everyone in the room, their eyes narrowed and the conversation quickly came to a stop. What was he talking about? Who was at his house? The paramedics, a doctor, was something wrong with Lilah?
"Carisi, do you need to go home to your family?" Olivia turned to face him, concern etched into her voice. She knew he had been worried this morning but now his state was erratic. He was shaking, his face was turning red and the savage look in his eyes was unnerving even for her.
"No- those two little shits Darren and James have broken into my house! Leon must have told them it was me who arrested him, (Y/n)'s hiding in the bathroom she's on the phone they're shouting- they know about Lilah!"
"I'm sorry who are we talking about, who's Lilah, a witness-"
"My daughter!" Sonny snapped his jaw at Barba like a crocodile before his panicked, wide eyes turned to desperately look at Olivia for advice or some kind of order. She had to know what to do or Sonny was going to go home with his gun in hand and shoot both of them for even trying to hurt his wife and little baby.
"She's only three-months old, we gotta go." Amanda jumped down from the desk she was sitting on and grabbed her car keys. They had to go now, they couldn't stand around and plan a strategy.
"Finn, get hold of IAB this could be a hostage situation so we need backup, Carisi go with Rollins but you play by the book, let Rollins take care of the boys when they're apprehended your focus is (Y/n) and Lilah. Nick you come with me, Barba you might need to come along for this.”
"Go! Baby, baby I'm still here, we're all on the way we won't be long. Talk to me." Sonny pressed the phone back to his ear as they all proceeded to rush out of the squad room, him and Amanda running ahead to get to the car.
"Sonny they're breaking the door downstairs." (Y/n) managed to keep her voice to a whisper but it was croaky due to the tears flooding down her face causing her throat to feel tight, especially with how shallow she was breathing.
"I need you to leave the bathroom and shut the door, try and block it with something, a towel behind the door and pull it so it jams then they'll think you're in there. Go into Lilah's room, leave the door half open and get in the airing cupboard."
In Lilah's room there were built-in cupboards into the wall, three to be precise and the bottom one was the largest.
While (Y/n) was pregnant Sonny had re-done them so that the the bottom cupboard had a rail in to hang clothes up in, the middle one had small boxes in containing nappies, towels and bed linen and the top one was a storage one for toys and the added bits they had ready for when Lilah got older.
If (Y/n) jammed the bathroom door then they would assume that's where she was and would try and break it and focus on it. Then if she left Lilah's door open they wouldn't presume she was hiding in there and if she got into the bottom cupboard it would save time so they could get there and she could hide until it was safe.
"O-okay- Sonny they're coming up."
A brutal cry left (Y/n)'s lips, she couldn't help it. She may be older than those boys but they had some sort of weapon each which they used to break in. They were going to try and hurt Lilah, they were shouting and raving, saying that Carisi needed to be taught a lesson so they were going to hurt her and Lilah.
(Y/n) knew she couldn't fight them off with Lilah in her arms and she couldn't hide Lilah to fight them in case they hurt her and then tried to find Lilah.
"Go, just go and hide now baby go!"
It felt like (Y/n) was in some sort of video game being chased and she was about to get caught.
When she opened the bathroom door she could hear them grabbing the railing to propell them to hurry up the stairs. As quick as she could, (Y/n) shut the bathroom door, trapping the very end of her slipper between the door and the wooden frame to jam it. She didn't have time to get a towel and try to keep it more secure like Sonny suggested.
Her feet skidded against the carpet and she could feel Lilah starting to whimper against her chest from how tightly she was held in (Y/n)'s arms and pressed against her. The moment she reached the cupboard, (Y/n) bend down and shuffled inside, pulling the door shut but leaving it ever so slightly ajar for air and a crack of light.
"Rollins fucking go they're reaching her!" Sonny slammed his hand down on the dashboard and his foot that was rapidly tapping against the floor booted the fabric beneath him and broke the seam revealing the car wires.
"I am!"
"Shh, baby shh please." (Y/n) quietly whimpered the words beside Lilah's ear, cradling her daughter just a little too tightly against her chest and shoulder. She would end up smothering her if Lilah tried to cry, she had to keep her safe. "Sonny-"
The phone dropped from (Y/n)'s hand and her arms cocooned Lilah against her tighter when she heard Lilah's bedroom door being slammed open.
Slowly leaning forward, (Y/n) laid Lilah down with trembling arms, placing her in the corner of the cupboard behind the hinges of the door. She grabbed a blanket that was hung up and tucked it around her before moving a small pile of onesies up against her to block her in the corner before putting another blanket very lightly over her. She didn't want to suffocate her or make her too warm and make her temperature and chest worse but she had to hide her.
When (Y/n) heard footsteps pounding towards the cupboard, she took her chance and thrust her weight onto the door so it swung out and collided with whoever was stood in front of it.
She heard a successful clout, a cry and growl of pain and a round of curse words which she took as her queue to scramble out of the cupboard and try to run. Her legs had turned to jelly and all the tears she had cried caused her eyes to sting and her vision to keep blurring in spots.
A scream left the back of her already raw throat when she felt hands clawing at her back and arms like savages trying to get her. (Y/n) did her best to thrust her elbows into the person's stomach and kick her heels out but it wasn't working. Her body aimed for the door but it was as if she was running on a treadmill, seeing her goal in sight but forever staying in the same position.
A cry flew from her lips when her legs were kicked from beneath her and she fell onto her front. Her nails dug into the carpet to pull herself away and her knees burned against the floor as she tried to hurry.
In the back of her mind she prayed that they wouldn't look back in the cupboard and realise that Lilah was hidden in there. (Y/n) needed to be the distraction from that, something they would focus on and try to get her so that Lilah would stay hidden until Sonny got here.
"We've got you now, that detective isn't going to come and save you."
Those words sent shivers running down the base of (Y/n)'s spine before her eyes snapped closed and her body coiled in on itself when one of the boys grabbed her by the shoulders and threw her forward. Her head collided with the banister ahead of her and the boy's weight landed on her lower back and hips like a ton of bricks had landed on her and severed her body in two.
(Y/n) could feel and hear a static buzzing in her ears and the blood rushing to her head making her feel like it was going to burst.
"Get off- leave me alone!"
A croaked cry left (Y/n)'s lips when she felt one of them trying to pull on her jeans but the more she writhed and with how snug fitting they were, it was proving a struggle. She tipped her body so she could manage to get onto her back so she could try and fight him off her before the other one moved beside her and grabbed at her neck. It was clear they didn't know what they were going to do, they were doing whatever came to mind, whatever they decided they wanted to do.
It was getting harder for (Y/n) to breathe with the hands clenching her windpipe and her panicking, tight lungs but she continued to struggle.
When the boy leaning over her got a little too close, (Y/n) tilted her head forward as much as she could manage and thrust her forehead into his nose. It caused her vision to blackout and her head loll back against the floor with a thud but it made him let go of her neck to cradle his face.
"Where's the baby? Be a shame not to visit her too." The boy trying to yank down (Y/n)'s jeans stopped for a moment, suddenly remembering that Lilah must be here too somewhere.
"Not here." (Y/n) spat just as she heard Sonny's voice booming through the house and it was like an Angel's voice serenading her and letting her know that everything was going to be okay.
Her hands reached out to scratch at the boy's face, trying to claw at his eyes to get him out the way before she moved towards the stairs. If she led them down then Sonny and the others could apprehend them and then she could get back to Lilah and make sure she was okay.
"We're coming in, nobody move stay where you are!"
Sonny held his gun out in front of him and made a beeline for the stairs, he knew (Y/n) was still up there and the dining room door was busted at the hinges and the lock was broken and hanging off. They had barely touched the living room before heading up to find (Y/n) and Lilah. Sonny had to get to them now and get them out.
"Sonny-"
The scream that followed made Sonny shiver and come to a halt just as he reached the third step on the stairs. He aimed the gun up but when he looked up, he scrambled to speed up the stairs two at a time to get to (Y/n). She was crawling at the top of the stairs until one of the boys gave her a kick, sending her toppling down the stairs sideways.
Collapsing down harshly onto his knees, Sonny's arms reached out and he laid his front on top of (Y/n) to stop her from falling any further and taking him down like a bowling ball.
The moment he looked up at Darren hovering at the top of the stairs, Sonny aimed and shot a bullet into his left shoulder to send him down to the floor and stop him from trying to go anywhere or do anything.
"Rollins!"
He didn't have to say anything else for Amanda to squeeze past the couple, climbing a few steps at a time to pass them before she went to get James and stop him from going anywhere.
"Lilah, s-she's in... the cupboard." (Y/n) could barely get the words out, her head was spinning, her body felt like it was about to roll down the rest of the stairs and give up on itself and everything was aching and pounding in pain. She wanted to see Lilah was alright and in Sonny's arms and then she just wanted to go to sleep and wake up from this nightmare to find it all just a bad dream.
She could feel Sonny gently moving her so she was no longer about to fall, his arms cradled her to his chest, his lips smothered her forehead with a thousand kisses. He was slowly swaying them side to side as Nick and Olivia bypassed them on the stairs.
"Lilah..."
"I've got her, (Y/n), she's here and she's okay." Nick bent down at the top of the stairs only moments later to show her the wailing, croaky babe in his arms who was cuddling up into his chest for comfort. Her little face was blotched bright red, her parted lips were spluttering coughs and wails and she was constantly wriggling and moving from fright and discomfort.
But she was okay.
"It's okay baby, you're alright now. I'm here, I've got you."
Sonny had his arms wrapped around his wife and his daughter just a few feet away in his colleague's arms. They were alright, he just had to get them to a hospital to have them checked over.
That was a close call.
