Mientras tanto, Do Kyung Seok (Cha Eun Woo) asiste a la misma universidad. A Do Kyung Seok le comienza a gustar Kang Mi Rae.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
BTOB en los episodios 7 y 16 (Only One For Me).
PSY en los episodios 1 y 2 (New Face) y 13 (Gangnam Style).
EXO en el episodio 3 (Universe).

Le doy a My ID is Gangnam Beauty 4.5 estrellas.

Actuación: 4 estrellas
Personajes: 4.5 estrellas
Historia: 4.5 estrellas

Here are my thoughts on each contestant so far (spoilers up to ep. 9). These are just my impressions of their roles in the limited context of the show, not as actual people.
- Lee Si-Won: The mad scientist! My favorite, though not necessarily my favorite to win. Sharp, strong-willed but loyal, and most of all, persistent. She and Seok-jin have incredible synergy. If the competition comes down to the two of them, though, I feel like she wouldn't have the heart to beat him...
- Ha Seok-jin: ...while he would have no such qualms. Crafty, independent, and observant, a real genius when it comes to scheming to an almost scary extent. He's definitely most at home in a "villain" role where he doesn't have to protect anyone. He and Si-Won give me the vibes of a natural talent and a hard worker teaming up instead of fighting over their differences.
- Seungkwan: Actually pretty interesting. Whether he intended to or not, he's the only one who has managed to strike a balance between being a threatening contestant and an exploitable one. He leans more towards the latter, but not to the extent that people are targeting him. In fact, everyone likes him a lot. That's an idol for you.
- Guillaume: Just smart in general. It was especially sly of him to play dumb throughout the first game. Seemed like an all-rounder. It wasn't his or really anyone's fault he got eliminated. His team just had to decide on a strategy early on that they weren't able to change later.
- Kim Dong-Jae: Very similar to Seok-jin. Schemers, the two of them. The main difference is that while Seok-jin is fine with keeping a tight circle or even flying solo, Dong-jae wanted to build trust with others. His fatal mistake during Secret Number was not committing to either closing ranks or cutting off contact with Seok-jin and Si-Woo. I'm very interested in what the writing test for this show was like, for him to be one of the two to get a perfect score.
- Lee Hye-sung: She didn't get to do much. I like that she trusted Dong-jae, but she was too trusting. I think she should've stood her ground and compared numbers with Yu-min first, then leveraged that information to ensure Dong-jae's loyalty. That might have helped Yu-min feel secure enough to not betray them later.
- Seo Yu-min: Way too dependent on others, though she seems to have taken the results of Secret Number to heart. She has the right idea about taking advantage of other people's sympathy for her, but the helpless act only works in the long term if it's just an act and not, you know, real. Also, Seungkwan has already filled the niche she wants. She should make more use of her greatest asset: Joon-bin, who clearly still feels guilty about Secret Number.
- Park Kyeong-rim: She's so sweet. If I had to choose, she's the one I'd want to meet in real life the most. But in the show, she's way too much of an open book and bleeding heart. I like that she's more cautious of Yu-min after Laying Grass, though that just means she'll divert more of her attention to helping Seungkwan.
- Kwak Joon-bin: He's funny because he talks a big game about wanting to turn traitor and cause chaos, but he's a huge softie who refuses to exploit weaker contestants. I don't think he's crafty enough to take down stronger opponents either. He's proven himself as an active participant in the games, which is really all it takes to not be marked as exploitable even if your most of his ideas go unused. But people don't trust him because of his big ol' mouth.
- Seo Dong-joo: Also smart in general, bold. The Si-won to Orbit's Seok-jin, kind of. She's more of Orbit's second-in-command than his partner, though that's only because Orbit is that much of a force of nature while she's content to play a supporting role. She's pretty loyal to Orbit, but she doesn't care that much about the others and only helps them because he does. Even then, she's been having doubts about him since Zoo. I think she could go head to head with Orbit if it comes down to the two of them.
- Orbit: Love him or hate him (looking at you, Si-won), he's incredibly influential. He's so much of a leader that it's kind of stifling. Extremely smart in a technical way, the best at coming up with group strategies based on actual game theory. This complements his "protect the weak" ideology, though that has been breaking down. He can't save everyone, even at the expense of the other team. I think he first realized that after Zoo and then truly accepted it during Laying Grass.
- Cho Yeon-woo: She was too passive, exploitable. But while Seungkwan is loveable and Yu-min is pitiable, she never found an approach that would make someone hesitate about targeting her. I wish she got the chance to show her strengths, but Seok-jin's robbery was frankly a brilliant move so I'm not that mad. I think she should've cozied up to Si-won more, especially by telling her about the safe. Seok-jin would've disapproved but Si-won would've stood up for her.

I love you-Seok-woo
Warnings: death, blood & gore, lots of tears, zombies {????}, suicide { implied, I’m not about to write that out }
A/n: Let me know if you want a part 2, cause I have ideas on how I can easily fix this
Prompts used:
I’m dying and I’m confessing my love for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You knew entering a relationship with a divorced man would be hard but with him never admitting the three words you wanted to desperately hear. You knew it was hard, divorce was hard on anyone. He had a daughter to think about and you loved Su-an, she was such a sweet little girl.
Slipping out of the bed you did your best to rub the sleep out of your eyes. “Time to get ready for the day.” You muttered to yourself.
Tying your hair up you paused at Su-an’s door hearing the little girl attempt to sing Aloha ‘Oe. Smiling you slipped into the room kneeling down in front of her you grasped her hand gently. “Would you like some help?”
Eyes lighting up the little girl nodded her head, her hand squeezing yours. “Yes please.”
-
Fixing his tie, Seok-woo did his best to remain happy. He had to do this for his daughter , she wanted to spend time with her mother and he couldn’t just tell her no and it meant that he could spend more time with you, maybe he’ll actually get the courage to tell you how he feels.
Pausing by Su-an’s door, his gaze softened seeing you teach her how to sing Aloha ‘Oe. His heart tightened painfully in his chest, he had to stop himself from saying something.
Seok-woo deep down knew you were to good for him, he loved you god did you love you but he was scared. He was scared the moment he told you how he felt everything would change, that he would end up losing you. He wasn’t blind to your affection and he tried to show you how he felt. Taking a deep breath he forced a smile as he cleared out his throat.
“Ready to go?”
Nodding your head, you grasped the little girls hand once you stood up. “Ready as ever.”
Taking a deep breath he placed his hand on your hip guiding you to the door. Tonight, once his daughter was out her mother he will tell you how he felt. He will tell you that he loved you.
-
You didn’t know how a simple trip could go so wrong. You mind was racing, pounding and you felt sick to your stomach. You couldn’t even imagine how Seong-kyeong was feeling after the death of her husband and now you were about to put Seok-woo through the same thing.
It was getting harder to think, you weren’t bitten that long ago but the bite was getting hotter, it felt hot to the touch and you knew that you couldn’t put them in danger.
“Seok-woo”You called out his name weakly, you weren’t even sure how much you, Seong-kyeong, Seok-woo we’re walking but you knew you were close and you knew you couldn’t be near them when you turned.
Stopping in his tracks, Seok-woo paused seeing how far you were behind them. Frowning he let his daughter slip off his back as he stepped closer to you. His hand grabbing yours gently, he did his best to smile until he saw the blood soaking through the sleeve of your shirt and then it hit him and he felt his heart drop.
“No you can’t.”
“I’m sorry.” You didn’t know what else to say, what could you say in a situation like this. “But I’m afraid my stop is here.”
“No…we can…we’ll figure something…I’m not.”
“Seok-woo…stop…I can…”Gritting your teeth you forced back the urge to through up. “I can’t put you, your child and a pregnant woman at risk….please.”
He couldn’t understand how you were smiling when it felt like his whole world was ending. “I should have told you my feelings. That I.”
“I know and I love you too…and I love Su-an…I love you both so much.” Slipping off the necklace you wore you turned your attention to the little girl that walked over too you.
“Y/n.” Stepping close you gave her a smile as you fell to your knees as she looked at you in question. “Are we going?”
Taking a deep breath you shook your head. “I’m afraid I’m going to have to catch up….I have some things I need to take care off…so do be a favor and keep this safe.” Placing the necklace around her you then cupped her cheek. “And don’t forget to sing, I want to be able to hear you.” You teased holding back tears as Su-an nodded her head.
Forcing yourself to stand you turned yourself to face the woman, Seong-kyeong giving her a sad smile. “Stay safe…and good luck.”
Taking a breath you turned your back walking away, you knew you had to be strong despite how hard it was. Su-an’s voice coming out in broken sobs, it was getting harder and harder to walk though you only stopped once it got to hard. Kneeling on the ground you closed your eyes pulling out a blade from your pocket. The wound on your arm seeping but you didn’t mind, it was going to be all over soon and as long as they were safe, that’s all that mattered.
‘I love you’

the angel (jay), the witch (daniel), and the audacity of this bitch (gun)
Lookism (2014-) is a South Korean webtoon written and illustrated by Park Taejoon (PTJ). It revolves around Park Hyung Seok / Daniel Park, who was bullied and “an unattractive loner who wakes up in a different body” which is “tall, handsome, and cooler than ever” (Naver Webtoon) when he transfers to J High. Daniel desires to find the secret behind why he now has two bodies, and in the process of doing so, he gets involved with two key characters: Hong Jae Yeol / Jay Hong, who eventually becomes one of his closest friends; and Park Jong Gun / Gun Park, who is a major antagonist of the series. This essay will explore the extent to which Jay and Gun can be seen as character parallels of each other through investigating their similarities and differences.
First and foremost, Jay and Gun have various similarities. Most of these are explicitly shown throughout the webtoon - for example, they are both smokers, as well as trained fighters, with Jay shown using Systema and Kali Arnis, and Gun with a multitude of martial arts including Aikido, Kyokushin Karate, and Capoeira. They are also both affiliated with wealthy families and corporations, as Jay is the second son of chaebol organisation H Group’s CEO Hong Kyeong Yeong / Steve Hong and younger brother of H Group’s future heir Hong Kitae, while Gun is one of the Ten Geniuses raised by Choi Dongsoo / Charles Choi, who is the CEO of H Group’s competitor HNH Company and the hired bodyguard of Charles Choi’s daughter Crystal Choi. But this is not the extent of their similarities.
Moreover, Jay and Gun are both closely linked with Lookism’s main character, Daniel. However, their relationships with Daniel also mark the biggest difference between them: their treatment of Daniel.
In the first chapter of Daniel’s arrival at J High, Jay is shown to have some kind of interest in him compared to the rest of their class:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The isolated panel of Jay’s parted lips proceeded by a bust-up panel of Jay (Chapter 4) juxtaposes the grouped reactions of the rest of the class. Although Jay never speaks, he is almost always one of the first individuals to come running to Daniel’s aid whenever he is in trouble in future chapters, eventually solidifying his place in Daniel’s friend circle. Daniel is also one of the only characters in the series capable of perfectly interpreting Jay’s silences. Whatever Jay’s exact interest in Daniel is has never explicitly been stated, but PTJ has implied that Jay is homosexual and harbors a crush on Daniel, claiming "큰형석을 짝사랑(?) 한다” (@/ptj.comics on instagram), which roughly translates to “I have a onesided love(?) for Big Hyung Seok”, referring to Daniel’s second body. Time and time again, Jay has shown himself to be willing to sacrifice anything and everything for Daniel, including himself.
Similar to Jay, Gun shows an interest in Daniel almost immediately after meeting him on his own, yet the way he treats Daniel is wildly different. He constantly fights Daniel or the boys in Daniel’s friend group, causing Daniel no small amount of stress and worry. Yet, after Big Daniel is kidnapped by Park Jinyoung, the original Daniel goes to Gun and asks for Gun to train him into becoming a better fighter so he doesn’t “have to solve his own problems” (Chapter 397), this is what Gun says after beating Daniel up:
Tumblr media
In the earlier panel, Jay is drawn in bright lighting as he looks at Daniel, suggesting that Daniel brings light to Jay’s life. However, in this panel (Chapter 397: The Kidnapping of Daniel Park - 4) Gun is shown walking into the darkness while dragging Daniel’s bloodied and unconscious body behind him. This suggests that Gun is willing to destroy Daniel - both in mind and body - for his own goals, and ‘for Daniel’s sake’, providing a contrast to Jay.
In conclusion, Jay and Gun have many similarities regarding their backgrounds, but meeting Daniel brings out the self-destructive side of Jay while bringing out the destructive side of Gun at the same time. Thus, Jay and Gun can be interpreted as character parallels through careful analysis of their probably-toxic relationships with Daniel Park.
This semi-bullshit essay was not proof-read but is dedicated to @lookismaddict all the same for enabling this humble writer.

i see you've been train to busaned, how was it?
THIS WAS HIDDEN IN MY ASK BOX IDK HOW I MISSED IT BFEORE.. IM ASSUMING THIS IS FROM WHEN I FIRST WATCHED TRAIN TO BUSAN AND I NEED YOU TO KNOW. I AM TRULY FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED AS A PERSON.. like not only was it a PHENOMENAL zombie film and i won't think about the zombie subgenre the same way again but also its message about what it means to be human which really is a core idea that should be at the center of every zombie film wasj ust so so so beautifula nd had me sobbing at the end and i love that we get an ending that in spite of everything ends wiht hope and i cannot stop thinking about it just in general... and seok-woo learning what it really means to be a good father and figuring out whats important to him when the world starts to fall apart and su-an's unrelenting kindness in the face of the end of humanity and the fact that her father can be so cruel or maybe not even cruel necessarily but just acting out of self-preservation and she is the light in his world and she keeps telling him that the only way out is through kindness and he's afraid to see what that could mean in a way and just in general the way the film shows how destruction and violence only lead to more destruction and how deceiving others is ultimately pointless and how kindness and love are really the only way to make it through tragedy and how you cannot survive an ordeal like this without a reason to continue living and the reason is love and other people.... and as a zombie film too the mechanics it introduces are fantastic, the entire idea of it being set on a train and the world outside the train versus the world inside being so drastically different and i love the creature design where the zombies don't attack unless they see someone it's so interesting and from an internal narrative point it's just so cool, this means the virus is actually pretty easy to contain and it means that wearing camo gear might actually help against zombies which again is just an interesting thought and when i tell you i GASPED when the small group of survivors on the train realized that they could travel through the cars of infected when the train was going through tunnels because of the low visibility THAT WAS SO COOL!! like what a neat idea!! what a fucking amazing design to put in your monsters!!!
and the way the movie is written it's just so beautiful... i love the boy's baseball team and i love the two old women on the train, the sisters, and i love seong-kyeong and her husband and i love how every person in the film feels so real and i LOVE the conductor and how he is determined to do his job as best as he can even as the world falls apart around him, and he keeps his train on the tracks as long as possible and he does everything he can to save everyone he can and AAAA ahg im probably not making a whole lot of sense right now but this movie is really just SO so good. i think it's probably the best zombie movie i've seen and it's one of my favorite pieces of zombie media ever. it really gets to the heart of what zombies as a concept are supposed to be about and it delivers on all fronts. from beginning to end i couldn't take my eyes away from this film it was incredible.

You know, no matter how toxic and twisted Jun Kyeong is, I really do hope she gets some help. She clearly has some deep trauma and pain that has caused her to be this way. She obviously has to want it, she’ll have to work for it and she’ll need to make amends (and recognize that Gyeo Re does not have to forgive her and still may cut her out of his life).
Good on Gyeo Re for calling her out on her illness. And while I’m undecided on how I feel about Yeon Ju punching her, props to her for also recognizing that Jun Keyong needs help and being willing to help her if she wants it.
Side note: I also think that Gyeo Re would benefit from some therapy.
Side side note: despite what Jun Kyeong said about Yeon Ju not knowing anything about hardship or show she feels, I wouldn’t be surprised if Yeon Ju knows more about it that she thinks and not just because she works in a hospice. We already know that she’s faced difficulties in her life.
Seok Jun seems to have feelings?? for Jun Kyeong. He wants her to be “happy” with Gyeo Re so he wants Gyeo Re to stay with her forever and he’ll take care of the money??? I dunno, this seems more complicated than it should be.

Yoo Yeon-seok said goodbye on Keum Sae-rok's birthday 'shock'
Tumblr media
Yoo Yeon-seok said goodbye to Park Mi-kyung with confidence in his heart for Moon Ga-young.
In the 11th episode of JTBC's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Understanding Love', which aired on the 25th, Ha Sang-soo (Yoo Yeon-seok) confessed to Ahn Soo-yeong (Moon Ga-young) and said goodbye to Park Mi-kyung (Keum Sae-rok).
Ahn Soo-young left the ice hockey rink, followed by Ha Sang-soo and caught him. And Ha Sang-soo said to Ahn Soo-young, "I like it. I know I'm a bad guy if I say this, but I'll just do it. Bad guy." Then he confessed her feelings, "I know. It's late. I made this. So I thought a lot, but I can't think anymore. I like Ahn Soo-young."
Ahn Soo-young suggested to Ha Sang-su, "Shall we have a drink?" The two went for a drink and played a 'lying game' at Ahn Soo-young's suggestion. Starting with Ahn Soo-young's absurd lies, the atmosphere between the two softened. Ahn Soo-young said, "I also like Ha Gye-blind. I liked it from the first time I saw it." Park Mi-kyung, who went to Ha Sang-su's house, where he did not answer, kept calling Ha Sang-su, but Ha Sang-su turned off his cell phone. And Ha Sang-soo held the hand of Ahn Soo-young, who was sitting next to him.
Ahn Soo-young was the first to volunteer at the place where the branch office was accepting applicants to go to work for three months, followed by Ha Sang-su, who was about to raise his hand after thinking about it.
Ahn Soo-young went to the place where Jeong Jong-hyeon (Jung Ga-ram) was studying after work. He saw Jeong Jong-hyun from afar and was about to say hello when he saw Jeong Jong-hyun exchanging messages with someone and smiling. Ahn Soo-young, who found this strange, immediately found out why. A woman named Cha Seon-jae, who was studying with Jeong Jong-hyun, came out after him and handed over the tumbler that Jeong Jong-hyun had left behind. Ahn Soo-yeong recalled the time when a junior named Cha Seon-jae called Jeong Jong-hyun, and she did not answer the phone, claiming that Jeong Jong-hyun was her male junior, and she grasped the situation.
Yang Seok-hyun (played by Oh Dong-min) was caught cheating on his wife. He posted the photos he took in the shadowing community, putting the bank people in a position to find out soon. In response, So Kyeong-pil (Moon Tae-yu) said, "I shouldn't have caught it. I should have done it carefully." Ha Sang-soo also scolded Yang Seok-hyeon, but deep inside he was troubled.
Meanwhile, Ha Sang-su used his lunch break to go see Ahn Soo-young, who was on a business trip, and So Kyeong-pil saw this. So Kyung-pil and Ahn Soo-young, who went to the branch office, had a drink with the branch office staff. Starting with the story of Yang Seok-hyeon's affair, when she jokingly brought out her words that seemed suspicious of Ahn Soo-young, Ahn Soo-young was furious. In response, the branch office employee said, "Why are you like a cheating person? I wouldn't do that if I was proud." Ahn Soo-young's expression suddenly began to darken.

*MY ID IS GANGNAM BEAUTY REVIEW*
*SPOILERS - DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU!*
Tumblr media
As we all know, the beginning of this drama was quite hard for me to go through. Partly, because Kang Mi Rae was so insecure about herself, and because I wasn’t able to get on the same level of understanding as her. BUT I didn’t give up and muscled through it (I’m so proud of myself).
After a few days of pondering through this drama after I finished watching it initially, I’ve come to realized that the beginning was so hard for me to get through because it was so real. All of the incidents that were portrayed, they’re straight out of reality. When Kang Mi Rae followed Chan Woo into the room alone, my insides were screaming GET OUT YOU IDIOT! RUN AWAY! But I know that situations like that come too often, and most times no one comes to save them. The bullying, the backstabbing, the sexism, EVERYTHING, is so real. And it happens on a daily basis as well.
Tumblr media
Kang Mi Rae.....where do I even begin with her. At first she wanted to make me pull my hair out, jump into the screen, grab her by the shoulders, and tell her to get over it! And at other times, I began to empathize with her and wanted to giver her a hug and tell her everything will be alright. Lim Soo-Hyang was wonderful to watch, and she perfected every single emotion to a T. Whether it was sadness, shocked, happiness, pain, confusion, she did a really great job of capturing you through the screen. I was invested in her, I wanted her to become stronger and confident and just happy. I wanted so much for her.
Tumblr media
Cha Eun Woo’s portrayal of Do Kyeong Seok was absolutely amazing. For those who know Cha Eun Woo outside of this role, his personality is a complete 180. Cha Eun Woo is bubbly, smiles a lot, basically a ray of sunshine. Do Kyeong Seok, on the other hand, was stoic, quiet, and collected (majority of the time, haha). It was amazing to see him bring out this different side of him and slowly break Do Kyeong Seok out of his shell. Those eye smiles at the last few episodes were giving me life! My criticisms are at a bare minimal here, considering this to be Cha Eun Woo’s first lead role; he did a really great job.

Ahhh - the girl I loved to hate. I called it from the beginning that she was a going to be a snake, and I was right (of course). Her character met up to my expectations, she played just the right amount of “bitchiness” and “annoying-ness” along with “pain” and “pity”. While I did hate her for about 95% of the drama, I felt like it was supposed to be that way. I was glad they humanized her at the end, and showed as to why she is the way she is. I was also glad that they got her the help she needed and that she was able to overcome her issues. Jo Woo-Ri did a really great job with this character. I loveeeeeeeeed to hate her, and that was her role. Kudos to her!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU CANNOT DENY THEIR CHEMISTRY! They played off one another so well and they knew how to grab your attention and reel you in like a helpless fish. I enjoyed that he was so genuine towards her and stepped outside of his comfort zone for her time and time again. Each character brought out the best side in each other, and they complimented each other really well.
When Mi Rae finally mustered up the courage to tell him she liked him, I was screaming for the heavens. It was like FINALLLYYYYYYYY!!! It made me super giddy and happy and just relieved. It seemed like when she was able to confess, all this weight was removed from my shoulders (and I’m sure hers too). It was a huge breath of fresh air.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I enjoyed how awkward there relationship was. It was a cute awkward towards almost too awkward. It was played off really well though since both of them never dated before. There whole conversation of “Now we are dating. What? We are? Well aren’t we? Yes, you’re right.” Hahaha - I enjoyed that so much. I was also glad to see their relationship grow as well (especially with the short amount of time we had left of this drama). As their relationship grew, Mi Rae and Kyeong Seok both grew as individuals as well. Mi Rae became more confident and less worried about others, and Kyeong Seok became more sociable towards others. And he began smiling more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My heart was literally dying when Kyeong Seok wanted to grant Mi Rae’s middle school wish of going on dates and etc. It was the most adorable thing ever and these little things seemed to have helped Mi Rae in a huge way, whether she realized it or not.
The scene where they had to sleep at Mi Rae’s parent’s house because they got stranded, was the turning point in Mi Rae’s character, in my opinion. This is where she truly realized that a person’s physical attribute isn’t everything and it doesn’t give you everything you want in life.
“How can you still like me when you know what I used to look like? What do you like about me?” “YOU’RE JUST YOU.”
Who knew that those three words can hit my heart so hard.
Tumblr media
When speaking of relationships, we can’t forget about the bromance in this drama. I love their love-hate relationship with one another. Whether they want to admit it or not, they both enjoyed each other’s company. Woo Young was such a team player in this drama. He wanted what he wanted, but when he realized Mi Rae’s true feelings, he wished her luck and happiness instead. That shows a true and grown side of Woo Young that is super appealing to me.
Woo Young’s feelings for Mi Rae definitely helped Kyeong Seok come into realization of his own feelings for Mi Rae. If there was no Woo Young, there’s a possibility that Mi Rae and Kyeong Seok would not have opened up about how they feel for one another.

Before I sum up my review I wanted to give a quick shout out to the moms in this drama! Y’ALL ARE SERIOUSLY THE BEST EVER!

Final Thoughts:
I will definitely re-watch this drama again. The plot was refreshing, the characters and actors/actresses worked with one another really well, and it was all tied up perfectly at the ending. For me, the ending is the make it or break it, and this ending definitely did justice for this drama. As you get to see that confident Mi Rae and that happy Kyeong Seok that you’ve been yearning for this entire drama.
Next on my list, their kissing scene. It still has me doing flashbacks on it because it was so adorable. At first I was a little disappointed, but then it evolved into this meaningful and sensual kiss which I began to appreciate. It was this cute and romantic sort of kiss, nothing to heavy and sexual, which was perfect for this drama and that scene.
I was really happy to see Mi Rae blossom into herself again, that girl that she knew was inside of her but wasn’t able to show the world. I had literal tears in my eyes when I saw her smiling and confident in who she is and who she loved. This was one of the best things that this drama could have given us! *Spoiler* When she preached to Soo Ah about how tired she is of everyone’s judgments on a person’s appearance and how these judgments can affect a person, made me want to stand up and clap for her. She hit the nail right on the head. Girls are being told to lose weight when they’re perfect the way they are, how girls are being told to get their faces fixed to become prettier; being beautiful does not determine happiness, which Mi Rae knew all too well. It was the perfect slap of reality to Soo Ah, Mi Rae, and everyone watching the drama.
Your appearance does not determine your happiness.

Alright, no more rambling. Ask me questions and/or leave comments on your thoughts on this drama! I want to know :)

Atelevision show (often simply TV show) is any content produced for broadcast via over-the-air, satellite, cable, or internet and typically viewed on a television set, excluding breaking news, advertisements, or trailers that are typically placed between shows. Television shows are most often scheduled well ahead of time and appear on electronic guides or other TV listings.
A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video. Television shows can be viewed as they are broadcast in real time (live), be recorded on home video or a digital video recorder for later viewing, or be viewed on demand via a set-top box or streamed over the internet.
❍❍❍ TV SERIES ❍❍❍ The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 111s. Televised events such as the 1111 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 1111 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 1111 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 111 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1111, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 1, 1111 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets.
The first national color broadcast (the 1111 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 1, 1111. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 1111, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 111, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season.
❍❍❍ Formats and Genres ❍❍❍ Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows.[citation needed]
A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 1111, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little.[citation needed] If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order.[citation needed] Since the 1111, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure,[1][better source needed] while the later series Babylon 1 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run.[citation needed]
In 111, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film.[1] Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 111, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television.

Short Kdramas/Drama Special/Web Drama
Part 2
These short kdramas fit in nicely when my drama capacity is challenging. Since some of you may experience a similar drama challenge, I thought I'd share these kdramas with you.
Part 1 here
Check Out The Event
Tumblr media
Ha Song Yi (Bang Min Ah) and Park Do Kyum (Kwon Hwa Woon) broke up after five years of dating. It wasn't what she wanted, but he is determined and doesn't intend to explain his reasons very well. Meanwhile, Song Yi ends up winning a promotion that the two signed up for together while they were dating, worth an all-expenses-paid trip to Jeju Island. Not to miss the opportunity, she asks Do Kyum to accompany her, and, surprisingly, he accepts.
This is a short drama, with only four episodes and wonderful cinematography. A melodrama with a touch of comedy. All this with the beautiful landscapes of Jeju in the background.
It tries to pass on an interesting message, especially with regard to communication in relationships.
You Drive me Crazy
Tumblr media
Eun-Sung (Lee Yoo-Young) works as a French interpreter. She is friends with Rae-Wan (Kim Sun-Ho). They have been friends for 8 years, since they were both college students. One night they sleep together and their relationship is never the same again.
It is a short and amazing drama. In my opinion, what made this simple story so beautiful is the impeccable chemistry between the protagonists. I know it's a pretty beaten plot, friends/lovers, but what's different about this one is that the protagonist is very unpredictable and conquers in a unique way. It's really funny to watch their relationship develop. She really drives him crazy.
One of my favourite short stories.
Page Turner
Tumblr media
It is a three-part KBS Drama Special starring Kim So-hyun, Ji Soo and Shin Jae-ha. It tells the story of a piano prodigy Yoon Yoo-seul who goes blind after a car accident, and struggles to get her life back together with the help of Jung Cha-sik, an aspiring pianist and Seo Jin-mok, her former rival who later becomes a supporter.
This one is so good too. Again, I feel like watching more episodes because we need more time with them. I wanted to know more about their dreams and their achievements. And that's the only cons of this drama.
Quick shout out for the mums. Yoo Seul’s mom (Ye Ji Won) and Cha Sik’s mom (Hwang Young Hee). I loved them.
The Taste of Curry
Tumblr media
Another KBS Drama Special. The curry restaurant "Cat's Restaurant" is run by Yu-Mi (Jeon Hye-Bin). She doesn't have many customers and one day, the restaurant is vandalized. Yu-Mi knocks down a suspect with her groceries and he passes out. When he wakes up, the guy (Hyun Woo) is unable to remember his own name. Until he regains his memory, the man helps out at Yu-Mi's restaurant.
This drama is about finding mutual healing and is quite sweet and emotional. Hyun Woo is a very charming and talented actor who proves here that he definitely deserves a leading role of his own.
If We Were a Season
Tumblr media
It tells the story of Hye Rim (Chae Soo Bin) and Gi Seok (Jang Dong Yoon) who was born on the same day and grew up together being close friends. Their friendship is genuine and it looks like it will lead into a deeper relationship but then, one day Dong Kyeong (Jung Jin Young) came to their school and shake Hye Rim's world.
At only an hour long, I think this show did a solid job of telling its story. A quick highlight for the positives: Hye Rim and Gi Seok are adorable together. The way they bicker and tease each other and how they care about each other. Jung Jin Young, as the destabilizer of this relationship looks great, with those perfect features and charming smile.
The ending is open-ended and bittersweet but leaves with the hope that there is more to come, that there will be a new beginning.
Individualist Ms. Ji Young
Tumblr media
Yeong has lived her whole life as an individualist. One day, she meets a man who is a totally opposite version of her. He lives for other people. Then these two very different people fall in love.
This is a cute romance between two people of polar opposites who change for the better after they meet. Even though it's only a two hour Show, the development of the story is well accomplished and the characters are very well constructed.
Min Hyo Rin is talented and the role is perfect for her, while Gong Myung...is such a sweet puppy and I can't imagine another actor in the role.
The Hymn of Death
Tumblr media
The Hymn of Death tells the true story of Yun Sim-deok (Shin Hye-sun), Korea's first professional soprano singer, and her romance with playwright Kim U-jin (Lee Jong-suk). There are six half-hour episodes.
I don't really like dramas with unhappy endings but knowing it was a true story and knowing I would get to see two actors I love, I thoroughly enjoyed this drama. And of course Shin Hye-sun and Lee Jong-suk were perfect.
Kiss Goblin
Tumblr media
12 episodes of 15 min. Ban Sook (Bae In Hyuk) is a 160-year-old goblin who wants to become human above all else. But to do so he must assume human form and kiss 10 different women to acquire different emotions.
I mainly got into this show because I liked some gifs I saw and found Bae In Hyuk quite attractive as a goblin. Bansuk is unnatural at first but becomes warmer, sweeter and more dreamy from the sixth episode onwards and I really loved it.
One of my favourite tropes is the forced closeness by living under the same roof, so I was quite pleased when Bansuk started living in Yeon Ah's flat and found the hyper-awareness parts quite delicious.
One Sunny Day
Tumblr media
This drama is 2 hours long and is about Kim Ji-ho (So Ji-sub), a heartbroken man who goes to Jeju Island for work and meets this girl (Kim Ji-won) several times. They both get robbed and have to sleep in the same guest house. While staying on Jeju Island, she heals his broken heart and they fall in love.
It's a very sweet story although simple and restrained but I loved this little drama mainly because it had my beloved So Ji Sub as the lead actor.
Plus it's a drama that shows the wonderful island of Jeju in a way I've never seen it before in any show.
You Are Closer Than I Think
Tumblr media
On their wedding day, a bride leaves a text message to the groom and she goes on their honeymoon alone. The groom tries to find his bride and learns something about her that he never expected. My review here.

I don't know if I'm the only one who felt like this, but something about Cha Eun Woo playing Lee Suho's character didn't click.
Tumblr media
The storyline was in his favour,LIKE TAILOR-MADE FAVOUR with all plot armour and everything. Even a lot of Seojun-Jukyung scenes were given to him and yet, something felt amiss.
It's not like Eunwoo isn't a good actor, his portrayal of the character of Do Kyeong Seok in 'My ID is Gangnam Beauty' was phenomenal to me.
Tumblr media
But something felt missing in True Beauty. Even though somehow both these characters are similar in a way.
Even with a lot of Seojun scenes given to Suho, Hwang Inyeop still managed to outshine Cha Eunwoo with both his screen presence as well as his chemistry with the female lead.
