The Top Nuclear Powers in 2023: A Look at the Five Nuclear-Weapon States Recognized by the NPT: Nukes top 5
The possession of nuclear weapons grants a significant military capability and deterrent force to a country. The United States, Russia, China, France, and the United Kingdom are considered the top nuclear powers with the most nuclear warheads in their possession. These countries, also known as the five nuclear-weapon states recognized by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), possess a…

what if. hear me out. what if it was possible for the binary entity to be circumvented by letting it kill a player with the correct letter. like. hear me out:
the binary entity shows up. oh no!! it's an R!! forever yeets richas to the safe room in ten seconds flat, but the entity has shown to be persistent. it won't stop until richas or ramon is dead. but wait, what's this? IN COMES RRRRRRRROIER WITH THE STEEL CHAIR. the entity kills him, oh shit!! AND THEN IT FUCKS OFF FOR ANOTHER WEEK.
we know the entity is here to kill somebody that starts with its letter. it's hinting at its target. but see imagine if that wasn't a HINT. imagine a world where that was its ENTIRE INSTRUCTION. "go, binary monster, kill a player that STARTS WITH C." could mean it's after chayanne and won't stop until the little warrior is dead. COULD MEAN IT WILL KILL SOMEONE WITH A C AND LEAVE. COULD MEAN CELLBIT COULD TAKE THAT HIT AND THE ENTITY. LEAVES.
entity's coming for dapper? hey dan, can you log in for like an hour and die please <3 or antoine "damezzanine" stands in his front lawn until he gets twoshot and dies in a mound of shit.
entity's after leo? no problem, somebody get luzu on the horn.
oh it's gunning for pomme?? forever's got phil on the phone immediately after hitting the panic button and pac is standing on top of the christ statue setting off fireworks.
tallulah? no worries, pac and mike together makes tazercraft and if not i figure either one of them could convince the entity their legal name is "tazer". if unsuccessful, turn to dan "the diamond minecart"
guarantee you if this was ever actually a viable strategy forever would waste 0 time in insisting his name is "rorever". welcome to the server "dadboyhalo". god i wish this could work can you IMAGINE

having some Thoughts N Feelings abt elrond & elros + the historical practice of rulers taking children from the families of their tributaries or even their (nominal) allies as hostages
primarily that (1) the Politics of the Fëanorions having the heirs of Fingolfin AND Thingol AND All Three of the Three Houses as their hostages is like… soooo overlooked and underutilized in the fanworks I’ve seen
and (2) i think it would be rlly funny and also fucked-up if most elves are Totally Scandalized And Horrified by this Weird Human Behavior of “hostage-taking” if/when they see it happening in the second & third ages as human settlements & societies in M-E grow & develop, while Elrond is just like, “this is Normal, what are you Talking about”
#mine#silm#like the story can’t Not be informed by that practice/history to some degree but it’s also a weird fucked-up edge case bc like#at the point when m&m have e&e it’s like. the Entirety of their close family is either dead or absent or absent and Presumably dead#so e&e are functioning less as incentive for their immediate family to act a certain way & more as an all-purpose deterrent#to aggression or retaliation against the fëanorians by any remaining sindarin or noldorin forces who take issue with all the Crimes.#anyways it’s Vital to me that elrond (and elros too) be a Little Bit Feral and have just the Slightest weirdness about him#in terms of his expectations for How Stuff Works—bc there’s no way he’s getting out of his Canonical Early Life w/out being a BIT fucked up#(elros is equally Weird ftr but the atani don’t care as much bc they’re more adaptable than elves and also elros is The Literal King#so there’s nobody of high enough rank to judge him overtly and also i think the numenoreans are like His Weirdness Is Our Weirdness#ALSO also i think early numenor should have a patronage/fosterage system within the nobility that isn’t Officially inspired by All That#but isn’t NOT inspired by it either. which is yet another thing that could come full circle and develop (back) into being#more traditional hostage-taking For Assurance Of Loyalty And Good Behavior as the years wear on and numenor gets corrupted. anyways)#for the record i fall in the middle on the hostage-taking reaction spectrum. i think it’s fucked up to a degree but i also Understand it#as a political tool and i think i’m more forgiving/accepting of it than ur average second- or third-age elf would be#so i think elrond’s blasé reaction (which i have made up) is like. indicative that he does still have some Issues in terms of like#conceptualizing personal relationships and family ones & recognizing that uh being removed from ur family and raised#by their political ‘enemies’ may in fact have Certain (Negative) Emotional Impacts on ppl. (possibly bc he doesn’t Want to think abt it)#(bc that would force him to do some certain Unplesant Introspection and life is hard enough for a half-elf without giving urself#further Emotional Damage by trying to unpack the Absolute Mess that was ur childhood and adolescence in the midst of an apocalypse)#but that’s neither here nor there and these tags are long enough already#oh wait i’m not done going back to (1) i know we all imagine maedhros being Fucked Up in the aftermath of the Nirnaeth + kinslayings BUT#do you genuinely want me to believe that maedhros—THEE political luminary of beleriand—was Not thinking abt The Politics#when maglor pulled these two fucking kids out of the wreckage of sirion and was like ‘i’ll be sad if we kill them :(‘#imo it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to forget that they are the heirs of Absolutely Everyone and depending on his thoughts on the future#maedhros Must have had at least a couple of Plans for these kids ranging from ‘assure my people’s safety Whoever i have to kill for it’ to#‘protect two of the Extremely Few uncontroversial political leaders the elves have left & make sure theyre Competent for when they do lead’#however Wrecked he was by It All i dont think that the politics part of his brain Ever turns off & it might have been kicking into overdriv#at that point in order to Not think about the Everything Else that was happening. ok NOW i’m done#sorry for tag rant it’s just that i have Thoughts and they are Correct but not organized enough to make it into the Actual Post

(William had a dream, once. A strange one. He wrote about it in his advanced Brindisian course at the Guild wherein the teacher declared that students were to: Write a short story about a dream that could have been a memory. Make sure to use the conditional tense throughout. And William opened his little essay with: I once dreamed my father killed a man in our kitchen as February turned into March. It could have been a memory, of course. He received a middling mark. Not for a lack of prowess with the language, for he grew up speaking it, but because he didn’t follow the parameters of the assignment. Mr. Downey, you were to write a dream that could have been a memory. You just wrote a dream.)
(William would have been seven if the very vivid dream that got him marked-down in his Brindisian course had happened in real life. Maybe eight. Maybe six. Somewhere in there. He would have come down the back-stairs and huddled against the railing watching his father work in the kitchen which is why William thinks his teacher likely right, that this must be a dream because his father never works in the kitchen.)
(There would have been a man appearing suddenly and he would have had a knife and William would have been frightened and then the man would have been on the ground and his father would have been beating him with a fire poker until the man stopped moving then Amos could have come into the hall where he would have been eye-level with Willian, as William was on the stairs, and Amos could have looked his son straight in the eye and said, gently: go to bed, William.)
(And William likely would have done as his father said. But he might have watched from his window as his father and mother took a large object out the back gate into the alley and from there William wouldn’t have known.)
(But the thing is, William doesn’t remember this. It’s a feeling, not a story. It’s a dream, not a memory. He’s never asked his father and never will. What a horrible thing, to have your son ask you if you’re a murderer. They’re getting along. They’re learning about each other, for the first time in over a decade. William doesn’t want to ruin things and he knows he has a bit of a talent for that. Anyway, Amos doesn’t work in the kitchen. Has never worked in the kitchen. No, no, he works in his counting room. Always. Therefore, it was a dream.)
(Oh, well, except when there have been floods and the counting room suffers a little damage because of it—spring melt off, poorly maintained riverbanks—and Amos would work at night in the kitchen, then.)
(Anyway. None of that matters.)
never underestimate Amos’ stress level at the end of financial quarters.

Consider for a moment: A slow-burn identity reveal “no one knows” AU with an emphasis on ghosts being taken seriously as an actual, world-changing threat.
Ghosts are treated as an exceedingly dangerous, but unavoidable force of nature. They can come and go without warning, through naturally occurring spontaneous portals. They're territorial, driven only by obsession and hunger for the living. Particularly powerful ghosts are on par with natural disasters.
Life goes on because there's simply no other option. All major buildings have varying levels of ghost shields, some stronger than others. Just about everyone has some form of personal shield, weapon, or general deterrent. For the most part, humanity takes this apocalypse in stride, barely keeping it all together because there's just enough safety to keep them all sane.
Which is why the rumors of Phantom being able to fully mimic a human body incites panic in Amity.
Phantom was already a nightmare as it was–one of the most powerful and intelligent ghosts on record. His territorial fights with other ghosts for haunting (hunting) grounds in Amity have made global news several times already. Powerful ghosts could appear more human–but to think he was transforming down to a cellular level? Hiding among them? Bypassing ghost shields and alarms? Picking them off one by one?
The focus is mostly with Lancer's class, and how the school deals with this new threat on top of everything else. Everyone is a suspect, no one is safe, and Danny Fenton in particular gets slowly more and more exhausted, apathetic, and… unnerving.
The stress, the lack of sleep, the fighting, no one to turn to, not even his best friends or family–it takes a toll on him. Starving himself doesn't help, but he refuses to do more than take small bites from the ambient life energy and emotion of the living around him. Nothing that won't actually do lasting harm. He begins to slip up more and more, which Sam and Tucker begin to notice but haven't quite connected the dots yet.
But, well. What else can Danny do when Pariah Dark comes knocking on Amity’s doorstep, and his whole class is in the line of fire?

The Houthis have far more expensive missiles and drones, theyre not going to use them just yet because they have a strategy in place. They launch cheap drones at either US aircraft carriers or other ships at sea knowing that the US will be forced to use missiles worth millions just to stop one drone or cheap rocket.
Here's the thing about the American warships in the Gulf right now, they can't be reloaded at sea. Once they've run out of missiles, they will have to find a port, preferably one in an allied country, to get loaded again which can take weeks. There's a reason why the Houthis are not worried despite all the threats being sent towards them. The US Navy is in terrible shape and can no longer act as a deterrent.
