Tattoo Refs: The Erdennian Characters

Last month I was working on ideas for my characters' updated tattoos, since some of them were in a big need for updates lol. Starting with the Erdennian characters, both because of Erdennia's big tattoo culture but also because the original post was from over 3 years ago, so a lot has changed since then. I also added in Idalia and Ren(whose tattoo was first shared here), since they are half-Erdennian too. A lot of the new ideas are kind of vague in their designs since I still need to figure those out, so they are mostly location ideas but I also expanded upon the ones from the original post a little bit too. But yeah, I hope you enjoy!

- The Royal Family

. Demeter: Has her family's traditional ruling tattoos across her chest and collarbones, with her motif being suns, and another sun tattoo between her shoulder-blades. She has a small and simple lotus design by her left ear, and a small and simple daffodil by her right ear, these being her mothers' favorite flowers. A small one on her right ankle, of her husband and children's names in the shape of the infinity symbol. A piece of orchid and camellia flowers on her left thigh(the flowers that her mothers' names mean), and her husband's + children's favorite flowers on her right thigh.

. Enki: The same as before, has a giant back piece of a tree(a connection to his magic and dryad status) that has the names of his wife + children and parents + siblings on the branches. He would now have either one or two forearm half-sleeves in addition, but I don't know what of yet.

. Gaia: Has her family's traditional ruling tattoos across her chest and collarbones, with her motif being hearts. She also has a rose between her shoulder-blades(being dedicated to Rosia), one on her left lower-leg of her and her family's birth flowers, and symmetrical ones of vines starting from her hips and curling around her mid-thighs. In the future she would get something on her right lower-leg dedicated to her other friends(incorporating something that reminds her of each one), water lilies on her left forearm for Ren, and aster flowers + a forest tree on her right forearm for her future children.

. Avani: Still has a year before she can get one, but her first would be a daisy on the back of her neck. She would also eventually get her other favorite flowers scattered across her body(with a possible half-sleeve, thigh piece, and/or lower-leg sleeve), and once she is older in her 20's, she would also get something dedicated to Vernon, her closest friend in life.

. Beaumont: Still too young to get one as he is only a child, nor does he have any ideas, but he does find the concept of them cool enough.

- The Other Characters

. Rosia: Has full-color roses going down the entire length of her back/spine. Also has a hip/thigh one, this one also being of roses(but in a different style) as she is a little extra in that department. In the future she would also get a big tattoo dedicated to her spouse and future children, this either being on her arm or leg(of their favorite flowers).

. Carmelo: Has full-color tattoos ranging across his back of many different plants and flowers, with the main focus being of roses. Would also get tattoos dedicated to both the family he grew up in and the one he wants to start with his wife, these possibly being full sleeves(one of herbs and plants for his kids).

. Vernon: Like Avani, he doesn't have any currently as he still has to wait a couple of years before he could get one. Not super focused on getting one, but he would get a piece of wheat on his forearm as a nod to farming(coming from a farmer family), and when he is in his 20's, he would get something dedicated to Avani.

- The Half-Erdennian Characters

. Idalia: Doesn't get any till she is in her 30's, since she never lived in Erdennia and didn't learn about the culture till she met and got to know Gaia more. Once she does she would get quite a few, these including full sleeves that spill out onto her shoulders/back, a half-back piece, and a giant hip/thigh piece. These are mostly witch-related, but a few would be in honor of her late caretaker that took her in after her parents died.

. Ren: Currently has one, of water lilies blossoming down his back. Chose them as a silent nod to his chosen name(since he was not out about being trans yet at his ceremony), and had them ‘blossom’ as a symbol of his hope to blossom and grow from his life at the time. Does not get any more for a super long time for many different reasons, but after he meets and eventually marries Gaia in the future he would get vines along his arm, as a dedication and 'thank you' to her. He would also get something dedicated to his future children too, as he always had a secret soft spot for children.

Here are the first set of couples that I wanted to do from that shipping meme again! These are for the royals of Feor, Arian, and Erdennia, three of the four main kingdoms from my novel, The Lost Rainbow( @thelostrainbowthenovel )! I am not doing the Mareas’ royals though, only because they do not have a very positive relationship like the other ones do, so their answers would not be as fun or romantic. I hope that makes sense, and I hope you guys enjoy! ^w^

- Vulcan and Soleil Von Brandt (King + Queen of Feor)

. Is the most affectionate:

They keep things pretty reserved in front of others, though when they are in private they are a lot more affectionate in their own ways, especially Soleil~

. Their most common argument:

They do not argue that much to be honest, though sometimes Soleil does wish her husband would soften up to show a warmer side to others more

. Nicknames for each other:

“Mon Amor”, “Darling”, “Dear”, “Love”, ones like that

. Who initiates kisses:

Both can, though Soleil most often since she’s the more openly affectionate one~

. Who kisses the hardest:

It varies depending on their mood, though again I would say Soleil just a tiny bit more

. Who said I love you first:

Vulcan, surprisingly. It was during one of the dates they had to get used to each other before their marriage, they were just hanging out casually together before he decided to say it~

. Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear during inappropriate times:

While Soleil certainly loves to flirt with her husband, it can actually be Vulcan who ends up saying some more “bold” things to his wife to liven things up during council meetings~

. Who’s the better cook:

Neither really since they have a royal kitchen staff for that, but Vulcan does know some grilling stuff from back in their army days

. Who wakes up to calm the baby:

It varies, but mostly Vulcan did with each of their children, as he often liked to let his wife rest(especially after her accident)

. Their favorite non-sexual activity:

Training/sparring together, or on more relaxed days they like to simply read together by the fireplace~

. 1 sad headcanon about this couple:

When Soleil had the near-fatal accident during one battle that left her with her long and large burn scar, and also depleted her of all her magic, Vulcan was absolutely devastated. He stayed by her side the whole time she was healing, trying his best not to break down and to remain strong, for both her and their eldest children’s sake, who were both very young at the time. Eventually she got better physically, and Vulcan too was happy to see her feeling better, though he would still have moments of worry for her for a while afterwards, not wanting to almost lose her again...

. 1 sugary-sweet headcanon about this couple:

Although they were originally arranged to be married(they both also knew each other as children) when they were younger, the two naturally bonded together over the course of their engagement, to the point where they were truly in love by the time of their wedding, and have still been going strong to this day~

- Noelani and Caelestis Neptune (Queen + King of Arian)

. Is the most affectionate:

Both are affectionate in their own ways, but Caelestis especially likes showing his wife a little more affection, like with simple cheek kisses to cheer her up and whatnot~

. Their most common argument:

The two of them rarely argue, though they do have some tense conversations when it comes to addressing the issues the nobles have with their daughters sometimes

. Nicknames for each other:

“My Love”, “Darling”, and “Honey” are their most common ones

. Who initiates kisses:

It depends, but Caelestis usually tries to~

. Who kisses the hardest:

Noelani actually, since she used to be a bit more ‘wild’ when she was younger that combined with her more bubbly nature can make her give some good kisses to her husband~

. Who said I love you first:

Noelani first said it, since he was the main light of her life during the time her parents got very sick many years ago and she wanted to show her appreciation for him in that way

. Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear during inappropriate times:

Both are more reserved to say stuff like that often, but sometimes Caelestis likes to be a bit more playful with his remarks to hear his wife laugh and smile~

. Who’s the better cook:

Both actually have some cooking experience, Caelestis as he often helped his family cook when he was younger, and Noelani does know some baking since it was one of her favorite things to do with her mother when she was young too

. Who wakes up to calm the baby:

Noelani often took it upon herself to watch over their children when they younger to ensure they were healthy and safe(as her younger brother had died as a baby, and she feared a similar fate would befall on her children), though Caelestis would oftentimes take over for her to give her some rest and reassure her their children would be fine

. Their favorite non-sexual activity:

In their free-time from royal duties they like to enjoy the arts together, whether it is visiting an art museum or watching a theater production

. 1 sad headcanon about this couple:

When they first met and really started getting to know each other more, it was during the time Noelani’s parents got very sick and she had to take over the throne much earlier than originally expected. She was very worried for her parents and overwhelmed with all the duties that came with being a new, young queen at the time, that she had accidentally shut Caelestis out for a while as they were just getting closer...

. 1 sugary-sweet headcanon about this couple:

Once Noelani felt relieved enough in her life to let Caelestis back in, they spent a good amount of time together that they actually got married and settled down with their family early on in their relationship, and are still happy together to this day as they keep each other on their toes~

- Demeter and Enki Erdmann (Queen + King of Erdennia)

. Is the most affectionate:

Demeter most often, since Enki is more shy and reserved than his wife to be more ‘bold’ like her

. Their most common argument:

They never really argued much to be honest, but sometimes Enki does wish his wife would not tease him so much and be a little more serious at times, but it’s never been a big enough problem to warrant an actual argument

. Nicknames for each other:

“Dear”, “Hon”, “Sweetheart”, as well as them just having a bunch of other cuddly nicknames, or more playful ones on Demeter’s part(such as her referring to him as her “short king” lol)

. Who initiates kisses:

Demeter most often, but Enki gives a few gentle ones to her cheek or forehead every now-and-then

. Who kisses the hardest:

Demeter most of the time because she was rather spunky and a bit of a ‘wild child’ when she was younger, but Enki actually has a humble ‘strength’ to him that can leave his wife pretty flustered but excited afterwards~

. Who said I love you first:

Back when they were first dating as young teens they both said it around the same time, with Enki saying it first albeit quiet and softly, but as soon as Demeter found out what he said, she gladly said it right back~

. Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear during inappropriate times:

Again, Demeter lol

. Who’s the better cook:

Enki since he grew up cooking a lot with his family, but Demeter also knows a bit of cooking herself, more so with drinks(like her signature smoothies), sweets, and nice little snacks

. Who wakes up to calm the baby:

They alternated when it came to their three children, though Enki took over more when Gaia was born, as her birth was a little much for Demeter at the time and he was more than happy to let his wife rest up

. Their favorite non-sexual activity:

Tending to their personal mini garden in their room, making snacks together, and dancing together when alone~

. 1 sad headcanon about this couple:

Despite loving children and originally planning to have several, they sadly have dealt with fertility issues over the years. They were surprised to have their first when they did at a young age, and while they did want to wait at least a couple years before having their next child, it wouldn’t be until 10 and 15 years later for their other two children to come along after their first. They are of course more than grateful for and love their three children, but they were still a bit sadden for a while that they could not have as many as they originally wanted...

. 1 sugary-sweet headcanon about this couple:

Ever since they first met when they were children Enki has always been so inexplicably gravitated towards Demeter, as despite her more bold and playful nature and his more quiet and brooding one, she always managed to make him smile and his first fond memory of her was how she made him laugh~

Piercing Refs: The Rulers

I want to start talking about the queens and kings more, especially as I have a lot of ideas for them and want to explore them individually more along with their relationships with their kids. One of my current projects I am working on on the side is their official refs, including both updated biographies/backgrounds for them as well as official drawn refs for them too. The only one I've made a full drawing for before was Soleil, but I will be giving her and everyone else updated references when I get around to them!

Right now since updating their physical descriptions, one thing I wanted to share was their piercings! I know some had earrings in the concept sketches I've drawn of them before, but I wanted to update those a little bit and share my current ideas for them. The only two who aren't included are Vulcan and Lian since they don't have any piercings themselves, but I hope you enjoy these!

- Soleil

. Soleil has double lobes, and her nips

. She usually wears hoops as her main earrings, and will either wear smaller hoops or studs for her secondary earrings

. Always had her main lobe piercings since she was a child, but only got her second set after she became an adult

. Got her nips first done several years ago, both as a surprise for her husband and because she wanted to for herself, and got them redone when she could after having her last child

. Has considered getting her daiths pierced or some other inner-ear piercings for a while, but it's not at the top of her priorities at the moment

- Noelani

. Noelani has double lobes, a conch, and a rook for each ear

. Always wears some form of dangling earrings for her main ones, with her other piercings being simple diamond studs

. Always loved piercings since her rebellious/wild younger years, but after becoming more mature as she became queen and a mother for the first time, the only ones she kept were in her ears

. She used to have more back when she was younger too, mainly a lip piercing, a navel piercing, and her nips, but took them out over the years and particularly the latter ones when she started having children

. Has considered getting one of them done again in recent times, but is content with just her ear piercings for now

- Caelestis

. Caelestis has triple lobes and a singular set of cartilage-helix for each ear

. Usually wears gold hoops for his main earrings, while his other earrings either being simple gold studs or small hoops

. Always loved piercings since he was young just like his wife, but didn't get most of his till his adult years

. Enjoys having fun with his piercings, especially wearing more extravagant ones for royal events or 'just because' sometimes

. Has thought about possibly getting other piercings before, but isn't focused on that at the moment

- Arethusa

. Arethusa only has a single set of lobes

. Either wears pearl or diamond studs most of the time

. Never wanted to get anything else done nor did she really approve of excessive piercings for the longest, but has eased up a little bit about that over the years

- Demeter

. Demeter has a few piercings, mainly a single set of lobes, her left nostril, and her nips

. Got her ears pierced when she was a child and always loved wearing fun earrings growing up

. She got her nose pierced in her teen years, not long after her 'Coming Of Age' Ceremony

. Since she became an adult she always wanted her nips done too, but didn't get around to getting them pierced till her youngest child was a toddler

. Has thought about possibly getting more ear piercings before but could never figure out a set arrangement she wanted, but she is content with just her current ones now

- Enki

. Enki only has a single set of lobes

. He didn't have any piercings for the longest time nor did he think they would fit his personal style, but got his ears pierced for the first time a few years ago

. Most of the time he only wears simple and small studs, but sometimes will wear ones with more floral/nature motifs

I know I've technically already introduced the Feorian rulers but for the others...

I think this is my first poll on this blog? But yeah, It has been one of my main project ideas for the longest time to make official bio references for the main ruling monarchs of each of the kingdoms in my novel, but it keeps getting put off to the side as I have become stuck on how to go about certain points for them. I think one of the main problems was just putting their info(which was previously bullet points) into the standard paragraph-description format and refining their info to match better with their kids and my current ideas. I do want to be serious about getting to them, though!

So, this poll is mainly to help figure out how I should format their bios! Originally(like the Feorian royals on here I mention above and all their posts on my Instagram a couple of years ago), I grouped both the kings' + queens' info into a general description for each couple, which I think would have worked before, but with my current style for writing bios I think it wouldn't really work out anymore with how long the information would be. I'm currently working on other projects at the moment so I won't be getting to these right away, but I wanted to go ahead with making this poll so I can start getting ideas!

A little something I wrote on a whim(so apologies if it's not the best quality), for Mother's Day which recently passed. I was in the mood to write something cute of one of my mother characters with their children, and though she was not my initial pick(as I was original thinking of writing for Soleil) I settled on Demeter, the mother of Gaia, Avani, and Beaumont! :3

I chose her both because I wanted to write something for the Erdennian royals again, but also because Gaia is a Taurus, and since Mother's Day falls during that timeframe I could make it where she is born on that day, thus making it an extra special day for Demeter.^^ One small, extra note is that here she and Enki are referred to simply as "partners". Even though they are still super young they feel like it's a bit "juvenile" to still refer to themselves as girlfriend & boyfriend, so even if they are not married yet nor even officially engaged, they refer to the other as their partner as they are still in a serious and committed relationship with each other and plan to stay together.

Just felt like sharing that! But yeah, I hope you guys enjoy, and happy belated Mother's Day, everyone! <3

Wanted to do another height comparison! This time with the queens and kings, mostly so I could compare the shortest(Arethusa) and the tallest(Caelestis) lol. The approximate heights for each of them(from left to right):

Arethusa is 5′4″, Soleil is 6′1″, Noelani is 6′2″, Demeter is 5′9″, Enki is 5′5″, Lian is 5′10″, Caelestis is 6′4″, and Vulcan is 6′2″.

These were some sketches I did for the kings + queens back in 2021, that I always meant to ink and color to make as finished drawings but I never got around to it. Also, since I’ve made both changes to their physical appearances and their basic information since then, I have brand new bios and references in the works currently. I’m not too sure when those will come out, but it is/was a project that I have been wanting to do for a long time so hopefully sooner rather than later!

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy! Originally I was going to include general information about the couples, but since I am in the process of reworking everything I am just including the bare minimum right now.

Oldest child and daughter of Ruling Queen Demeter and King Consort Enki, older sister to Avani and Beaumont, and the heir to the throne of Erdennia. Gaia came into her parents’ lives when they were very young, just barely considered adults by their society and not yet married either. Yet, despite her birth being rather unexpected, she was still welcomed and loved by all in the kingdom. Growing up, she was a bit of a curious and adventurous one, always wanting to swing from the vines with her magic and exploring more of the environment around her, even the mysterious and often-feared Dark Forest. It came as no surprise when she started gaining an interest in witchcraft, specifically to become a green witch, though there were some older nobles weary of the crowned princess getting into such a controversial magic practice. Although her friendly nature has allowed her to make many friends, by far the closest friends she ever made were Rosia Belmonte, her best friend and lady-in-waiting, and Carmelo Belmonte(né Freitas), the royal gardener who came from a poor village before getting offered a job at the royal palace, as they were some of the first people to treat her as just a person and not or be intimidated by her royal position. Diplomatic, she is also well-acquainted with the royal children from the other kingdoms and on good terms with them too, even the ones that are sometimes looked down upon by the people of their own respective kingdoms. A compassionate, selfless and generous young lady, she is always thinking of others and her people first and what would be best for them. She can also become quite emotional under great deals of stress, sometimes making impulsive decisions without always thinking about the potential consequences first. With the devastating presence of the "Blight Flu" spreading throughout her kingdom, taking many innocent plant and human lives alike, including most of her family growing seriously ill and bedridden, she has become desperate and sets out to find a cure. Although all the disease has done and her family’s condition has taken a heavy toll on her mental state, she does her best to put on a brave face and remain a positive and optimistic influence for others.

Since I recently did this for my @spooksverse-asks blog, I thought I would do it for here as well! Since my novel takes place in a fantasy world, creatures/monsters do exist and there are some characters who are either not human or not completely human. So, here is a list of those characters! :3

Wedding Dresses for the Married Ladies~

Was getting inspired by looking at some wedding headcanons for other people’s characters, so here are some wedding dress ideas for all the married ladies of my cast! And finally, here is the king + queen and other info about the Earth Kingdom! This one I had a lot of fun working on this one~ :3

- Earth Kingdom - Capital: Avalon( av-val-lawn ) - Royal Family: the Erdmanns . King: Enki . Queen: Demeter . Heir: Gaia . Second-born: Avani . Last-born: Beaumont - Demeter . Physical Description: average if slightly taller height, thick and curvy hourglass figure with some chub, waist-length honey brown hair often put up in a messy bun with a few front strands loose, bright green eyes, pale-ish light brown skin with a smattering of freckles mostly across her face, traditional tattoos along the chest and collar-bones in a sun pattern . 43 . the main ruler . spunky and a bit wild, went on lots of fun and crazy adventures with Queen Noelani when they younger . met Enki as children, them hitting it off fairly easily . has the same tattoos as her daughter Gaia, though her pattern is of suns . has grown very mature and wise since her youth, but still with some fun spunk to her . her mother is a lesbian, and as such had Demeter through the help of a sperm donor . although she's usually so happy and cheerful, she can get rather emotional at times . has no siblings - Enki . Physical Description: short with a stocky yet still toned build, dark green messy hair that falls slightly past the collar-bones, medium-lengthed beard, dark hazel eyes, warm, tan-colored skin, a tattoo down his back of a tree . 41 . married in . has always been inexplicably gravitated towards Demeter ever since they met as children . has always been shy in a quiet, brooding kind of way but means well . softens up around his family and especially his wife, as her flirty comments always get him flustered and soft at the same time . he and Demeter didn't get together romantically until their teenhood, after Demeter got done with her 'coming of age' ceremony . they were rather reckless during their teenhood, having their first child only a few months after Enki's own 'coming of age' ceremony . has always been seen as a good king, though with the introduction of the disease there have been rumors of him resorting to some "unethical" ways of dealing with it, some suggesting him of practicing witchcraft . has 3 younger siblings, his younger sister who is 38 and a twin(has 1 daughter, age 10), his other younger sister who is 38 and a twin(has 2 kids, a daughter who is 9 and a son who is 8), and his younger brother who is 34(has 2 sons, ages 6 and 1) - History, Politics, + Other Info . When all groups went their separate ways the first people to make up the Earth Kingdom settled into forested areas, with lots of trees and vegetation around. . The oldest of the kingdoms. . The biggest kingdom in both population and land size. . They have had a few different ruling families since the beginning of their kingdom, for a few different reasons. The Erdmanns have been ruling for the longest time and are the current royals. . A mediator when dealing with tensions between kingdoms, does their best to keep the peace at the conferences whenever a disagreement escalates into a fight. . Were the ones to first propose the alliance and played a huge role in its coming together. While it entails all four kingdoms having an alliance with each other, their strongest ally is with the Water Kingdom surprisingly, despite their vast political differences. . They are by far the most progressive of the kingdoms, and the most peaceful within their borders too. They are the only kingdom where LGBT+ citizens are openly not seen as different, and have always had the same civil rights as anyone else. The same can be applied to mixed-raced citizens as well. . Speaking of LGBT+, they have the biggest community for it, many citizens being out and happy with themselves. They host pride parades and festivals all across the kingdom every summer, when the weather is warm and perfect for celebrating outdoors. . The most cultural, they host numerous festivals and ceremonies all throughout the year. One of their most important ceremonies is their 'coming of age' ceremony, where once a citizen turns 16 they go and get a tattoo, either to symbolize their kingdom or themself, to mark their entrance into adulthood. . Outsiders are welcomed the most in their kingdom, permanent stay or not, and are treated with their best hospitality. They are also welcomed and highly encouraged to attend any festival or ceremony that may be happening during or around their stay. While they would legally still be recognized as part of their kingdom of origin, the application process for citizenship is a fairly simple one, granting almost everyone's application unless there's a very good reason not to. . Not as religious as the Water Kingdom, but definitely more spiritual. . The main values are generosity and hospitality, kindness to all, and protection of both the environment and of others. They also value a good harvest for the farmers, and generally any positive and inclusive traits. . Second most diverse in terms of magical abilities, as there are numerous different things associated with plants, the ground, and other flora in general.
