Tattoo Refs: The Erdennian Characters

Last month I was working on ideas for my characters' updated tattoos, since some of them were in a big need for updates lol. Starting with the Erdennian characters, both because of Erdennia's big tattoo culture but also because the original post was from over 3 years ago, so a lot has changed since then. I also added in Idalia and Ren(whose tattoo was first shared here), since they are half-Erdennian too. A lot of the new ideas are kind of vague in their designs since I still need to figure those out, so they are mostly location ideas but I also expanded upon the ones from the original post a little bit too. But yeah, I hope you enjoy!

- The Royal Family

. Demeter: Has her family's traditional ruling tattoos across her chest and collarbones, with her motif being suns, and another sun tattoo between her shoulder-blades. She has a small and simple lotus design by her left ear, and a small and simple daffodil by her right ear, these being her mothers' favorite flowers. A small one on her right ankle, of her husband and children's names in the shape of the infinity symbol. A piece of orchid and camellia flowers on her left thigh(the flowers that her mothers' names mean), and her husband's + children's favorite flowers on her right thigh.

. Enki: The same as before, has a giant back piece of a tree(a connection to his magic and dryad status) that has the names of his wife + children and parents + siblings on the branches. He would now have either one or two forearm half-sleeves in addition, but I don't know what of yet.

. Gaia: Has her family's traditional ruling tattoos across her chest and collarbones, with her motif being hearts. She also has a rose between her shoulder-blades(being dedicated to Rosia), one on her left lower-leg of her and her family's birth flowers, and symmetrical ones of vines starting from her hips and curling around her mid-thighs. In the future she would get something on her right lower-leg dedicated to her other friends(incorporating something that reminds her of each one), water lilies on her left forearm for Ren, and aster flowers + a forest tree on her right forearm for her future children.

. Avani: Still has a year before she can get one, but her first would be a daisy on the back of her neck. She would also eventually get her other favorite flowers scattered across her body(with a possible half-sleeve, thigh piece, and/or lower-leg sleeve), and once she is older in her 20's, she would also get something dedicated to Vernon, her closest friend in life.

. Beaumont: Still too young to get one as he is only a child, nor does he have any ideas, but he does find the concept of them cool enough.

- The Other Characters

. Rosia: Has full-color roses going down the entire length of her back/spine. Also has a hip/thigh one, this one also being of roses(but in a different style) as she is a little extra in that department. In the future she would also get a big tattoo dedicated to her spouse and future children, this either being on her arm or leg(of their favorite flowers).

. Carmelo: Has full-color tattoos ranging across his back of many different plants and flowers, with the main focus being of roses. Would also get tattoos dedicated to both the family he grew up in and the one he wants to start with his wife, these possibly being full sleeves(one of herbs and plants for his kids).

. Vernon: Like Avani, he doesn't have any currently as he still has to wait a couple of years before he could get one. Not super focused on getting one, but he would get a piece of wheat on his forearm as a nod to farming(coming from a farmer family), and when he is in his 20's, he would get something dedicated to Avani.

- The Half-Erdennian Characters

. Idalia: Doesn't get any till she is in her 30's, since she never lived in Erdennia and didn't learn about the culture till she met and got to know Gaia more. Once she does she would get quite a few, these including full sleeves that spill out onto her shoulders/back, a half-back piece, and a giant hip/thigh piece. These are mostly witch-related, but a few would be in honor of her late caretaker that took her in after her parents died.

. Ren: Currently has one, of water lilies blossoming down his back. Chose them as a silent nod to his chosen name(since he was not out about being trans yet at his ceremony), and had them ‘blossom’ as a symbol of his hope to blossom and grow from his life at the time. Does not get any more for a super long time for many different reasons, but after he meets and eventually marries Gaia in the future he would get vines along his arm, as a dedication and 'thank you' to her. He would also get something dedicated to his future children too, as he always had a secret soft spot for children.

Makeup Looks: Talia, Meredith, Skye, and Avani

The other day I randomly felt like finding some makeup looks for the other princesses, since I already did ones for Hestia, Amaya, and Gaia in the makeup looks post for the main characters! I hope you enjoy! :3

- Talia

. Talia absolutely loves wearing makeup, and does not care if her looks are considered "extra" on a daily basis

. Her usual looks consist of shimmering eyeshadow in gold, pink, or other warm shades, a little bit of highlighter and blush, and shiny but natural-colored lip-glosses or lipsticks, to have her makeup looks draw more attention to her eyes

. For nails, she loves getting them done, preferring to keep them long and usually likes to get glitter polish or some sort of fun design

. Her and her sister Maya also like to go to the salon together to get their nails done, sometimes getting matching or similar designs

- Meredith

. Mere enjoys wearing makeup, but keeps it light on a daily basis

. Her usual look consists of mascara, light or pastel eyeshadows, and lip-gloss in light pink or red

. Though, she will go for more fancy or glam looks for those royal/formal events

. For nails, she enjoys having them done and loves going with her brother to the salon to get theirs done together, with her preferring to keep hers short and painted with bright blue shades or fun ocean designs

- Skye

. Skye used to be against wearing makeup, but once she started embracing her love for the gothic subculture, she gained a liking for it as it helped enhance her looks

. Her usual look consists of eyeshadow in black or other dark colors, with a messy/smudged or smokey look, sharp eyeliner, and dark red or black lip-gloss

. Sometimes for certain outfits or events she will wear shimmering products like her sisters, and when she does dress in traditional Arianian colors, then she will go for a softer look with her makeup

. For nails, she usually keeps them short and coffin or square-shaped, usually painted black and sometimes with skull or other spooky designs

- Avani

. Avani loves wearing makeup, especially with the fun looks she can pull off

. As an art kid, she loves being experimental with her makeup, especially with her eyeshadow as she is inspired by and loves the impressive and detailed looks you can make with it

. Usually wears warmer colors but she will wear any color, with her loving to paint flowers with her eyeshadow and funky eyeliner shapes, while keeping it simple when it comes to her lips

. For nails, she usually keeps them short-medium length and painted with flower designs, usually her favorite daisies or her other favorite flowers, and sometimes matches her nails with her eyes

Oldest child and daughter of Ruling Queen Demeter and King Consort Enki, older sister to Avani and Beaumont, and the heir to the throne of Erdennia. Gaia came into her parents’ lives when they were very young, just barely considered adults by their society and not yet married either. Yet, despite her birth being rather unexpected, she was still welcomed and loved by all in the kingdom. Growing up, she was a bit of a curious and adventurous one, always wanting to swing from the vines with her magic and exploring more of the environment around her, even the mysterious and often-feared Dark Forest. It came as no surprise when she started gaining an interest in witchcraft, specifically to become a green witch, though there were some older nobles weary of the crowned princess getting into such a controversial magic practice. Although her friendly nature has allowed her to make many friends, by far the closest friends she ever made were Rosia Belmonte, her best friend and lady-in-waiting, and Carmelo Belmonte(né Freitas), the royal gardener who came from a poor village before getting offered a job at the royal palace, as they were some of the first people to treat her as just a person and not or be intimidated by her royal position. Diplomatic, she is also well-acquainted with the royal children from the other kingdoms and on good terms with them too, even the ones that are sometimes looked down upon by the people of their own respective kingdoms. A compassionate, selfless and generous young lady, she is always thinking of others and her people first and what would be best for them. She can also become quite emotional under great deals of stress, sometimes making impulsive decisions without always thinking about the potential consequences first. With the devastating presence of the "Blight Flu" spreading throughout her kingdom, taking many innocent plant and human lives alike, including most of her family growing seriously ill and bedridden, she has become desperate and sets out to find a cure. Although all the disease has done and her family’s condition has taken a heavy toll on her mental state, she does her best to put on a brave face and remain a positive and optimistic influence for others.

This was a cutie I came up with 1-2 months ago when working on coloring the other next-gen/future kiddos, as I just couldn't get her concept out of my head~ :3 She is the only daughter and youngest child to Gaia and Ren, being younger to Aster and Silas by 5 and 3 years respectively(age-wise amongst the entire next-generation cast, she ties with Phoebe in being the youngest). I kind of wrote a lot of notes for her originally, but I hope you guys enjoy learning more about her! <3

- Princess Antheia Erdmann(8, as of 20 years into the future)

She was spell-born like Aster, but this time Gaia and Ren wanted to experience a pregnancy. Like with Aster they went through the clay method, but instead of finishing through that method they performed a spell that would have Gaia "absorb" the mixture, allowing her to experience a natural pregnancy. Since this practice is a bit more unpredictable, they had the best staff on standby in case anything were to go wrong with her pregnancy, with Ren fretting heavily on his wife during this time. Despite the heavy monitoring during Gaia's pregnancy, her daughter was still born premature and very sickly. She spent the first few weeks of her life in the NICU under constant medical supervision. Although she eventually got healthy enough to be released, she still has to have constant check-ups for the variety of health problems she was born with. Personality-wise she is more of a soft-spoken and shy girl, mostly from her early years kept within the palace surrounded by doctors. Even when she was healthy enough to be allowed to go out exploring, she kept only to her family and the Belmonte family, as she was too scared to approach anyone else. She is also very stubborn and prone to getting irritated easily, making her difficult to try and negotiate with when she gets in these moods. Despite this, she is still a sweetheart deep down who does hold a lot of love for others, even if it is hard for to properly express her feelings at times. Both her older brothers are fiercely protective over her, and have gotten into trouble for using spells against those that were bothering her. While this worries Theia, she does appreciate having her brothers be there for her. Just like her aunt Avani, she loves flowers so much, always spending time in the royal gardens, having all her clothes with some form of floral pattern or detailing, flowers all over her room, and is never seen without a flower crown or flowers woven into her hair. She always goes to her aunt when she wants her hair done, and with Avani's more artistic side, both aunt and niece have fun coming up with creative and elaborate hairstyles together. She is also quite close to her uncle Beau, who often encourages his niece to live her best life and not let other kids get to her so much. He is very empathetic to her struggles and sometimes, she feels better talking to him about certain problems than with others. Their common favorite thing to bond over as uncle and niece is sneaking snacks out of the palace's kitchen after hours, and going to sweet shops and bakeries to try new sweat treats. It was unknown if she would have natural magic with the nature of her conception and being born premature, but she has shown signs of being able to control aquatic plants more. Despite technically only being a 1/4 Mareasian, she seems more adept and attuned to her Mareasian roots then Aster. At the moment, she is not sure if she wants to study witchcraft like the rest of her family when she is older. She has thought that if she does, she would want to study multiple different magic sources, inspired by Princess Mira who is a dual-fire and water witch herself. For Theia, she would most likely be a dual-water and flower witch.

These were some sketches I did for the kings + queens back in 2021, that I always meant to ink and color to make as finished drawings but I never got around to it. Also, since I’ve made both changes to their physical appearances and their basic information since then, I have brand new bios and references in the works currently. I’m not too sure when those will come out, but it is/was a project that I have been wanting to do for a long time so hopefully sooner rather than later!

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy! Originally I was going to include general information about the couples, but since I am in the process of reworking everything I am just including the bare minimum right now.

Piercing Refs: Talia Neptune, Skye Neptune, and Avani Erdmann

Another one! These were the other three that I knew I wanted to do after doing Meredith’s and the main characters’ previously, to finish off the ‘older’ royal children! Skye and Avani are both only 15 at the moment so they only have their lobes pierced currently, but these are just the piercing ideas I see them having in general when they are a little older so I’ll be referring to them at that time, if that makes sense? But yeah, I hope you guys enjoy!

- Talia

. Talia has several piercings, all in a few different places of her body

. For her ears, she has triple lobes, a couple flats, a conch, and a tragus

. A HUGE fan of hoops, her main earrings include a pair of giant gold hoops that she always wears, even if they are a bit unpractical for some settings

. She also has a couple facial piercings, including a septum and philtrum

. Her last piercing she has is her navel, and is pretty content with all her piercings at the moment, though is not opposed to potentially getting more in the future

. Most of her piercings are all gold and hoops, though besides her one pair of giant hoops and her dangling navel piercing, all her other ones are small(her flats and philtrum being the main ones where she just wears studs for those)

- Skye

. Since she is 15 at the moment, the only piercings Skye currently has is her lobes

. However when she is older, she gets several different piercings, both because she likes them and also to further solidify her more edgy and goth aesthetic compared to everyone else’s lighter/softer looks in her kingdom

. For her ears, she gets industrials, small gauges, two upper lobes, and a tragus

. Like her sisters she also gets her nose pierced, getting a small skull stud on her right nostril

. She also gets her left eyebrow pierced with a spiky bar, and a lip ring on the left side

. Has considered getting a few other piercings, though those are her main ideas

- Avani

. Like Skye, since she is only 15 at the moment the only piercings Avani currently has is her lobes

. Like her sister Gaia, she likes the look of other types of ear piercings and would like some, but is not exactly sure what she would like

. She is leaning more towards a couple cartilage/helix or flats, though

. The next piercing she would get is her nose, getting a small daisy-shaped stud on her left nostril

. She would also like to get her navel pierced, too

. All of her jewelry are flower-themed, mostly just daisies since they are her favorite

. She has considered potentially getting other types of piercings one day(like her eyebrow or even her lip to add some edge to her look), though she is not sure what would look good on her

The other drawing I finished over the weekend~ Kind of following along with the unexpected theme I was doing with the recent drawings of drawing some characters from each kingdom, here is something featuring two characters from the Earth Kingdom~ 🌿 Here we have Vernon, a young farmhand and friend to the youngest royal children of the kingdom and Avani, the second-born princess and child. These two are best friends(who may or may not be low-key crushing on each other, but nothing's confirmed either way), and I thought a cute idea for them here would be Vernon offering Avani a daisy he picked(and the one she ends up wearing in her hair) since they are her favorite flowers and he knows how much they mean to her~ :3

Beaumont “Beau” Erdmann . Age: 10 . Gender: male Physical Description: . Hair: short, curly/wavy, dark brown . Eyes: hazel . Skin: light brown, a little paler than his sisters, freckles all over . Build: short, stocky, a little chubby Background and Bio: The third and youngest child to the Earth Kingdom, as well as the only son. He’s very active and kind of rambunctious, often running and hanging around with his older sister Avani. Loves food and especially sweets, often tries sneaking some snacks for himself out of the castle’s kitchen. A friend of Vernon’s as well, and while he is supportive of his and Avani’s closeness and mutual feelings for each other, part of him can’t help but feel left out at times when the two are low-key flirting during the trio's hangouts. Avani Erdmann . Age: 15 . Gender: female . Sexuality: questioning Physical Description: . Hair: short, curly/wavy, bangs swept to the side, medium brown . Eyes: green . Skin: light brown . Build: short, pear-shaped Background and Bio: Second oldest child and daughter to the Earth Kingdom. She is best friends with Vernon George, the two of them meeting by chance when the royal family did a visit of his family's farm years ago. They are very close together, so some feelings might be sparking between the two but it’s currently unknown at the moment if they are crushing on each other. Avani is a very giggly and energetic girl, always running around though this sometimes gets her into trouble. She’s also very kind and friendly, and pretty open-minded to trying new things and learning about new concepts. While still having a year, she already has a big list of possible ideas for her 'Coming Of Age' Ceremony, both design and location-wise, but one major element she wants to include is of her favorite flower, the daisy.

A mediator when dealing with tensions between kingdoms, does their best to keep the peace at the conferences whenever a disagreement escalates into a fight. . Were the ones to first propose the alliance and played a huge role in its coming together. While it entails all four kingdoms having an alliance with each other, their strongest ally is with the Water Kingdom surprisingly, despite their vast political differences. . They are by far the most progressive of the kingdoms, and the most peaceful within their borders too. They are the only kingdom where LGBT+ citizens are openly not seen as different, and have always had the same civil rights as anyone else. The same can be applied to mixed-raced citizens as well. . Speaking of LGBT+, they have the biggest community for it, many citizens being out and happy with themselves. They host pride parades and festivals all across the kingdom every summer, when the weather is warm and perfect for celebrating outdoors. . The most cultural, they host numerous festivals and ceremonies all throughout the year. One of their most important ceremonies is their 'coming of age' ceremony, where once a citizen turns 16 they go and get a tattoo, either to symbolize their kingdom or themself, to mark their entrance into adulthood. . Outsiders are welcomed the most in their kingdom, permanent stay or not, and are treated with their best hospitality. They are also welcomed and highly encouraged to attend any festival or ceremony that may be happening during or around their stay. While they would legally still be recognized as part of their kingdom of origin, the application process for citizenship is a fairly simple one, granting almost everyone's application unless there's a very good reason not to. . Not as religious as the Water Kingdom, but definitely more spiritual. . The main values are generosity and hospitality, kindness to all, and protection of both the environment and of others. They also value a good harvest for the farmers, and generally any positive and inclusive traits. . Second most diverse in terms of magical abilities, as there are numerous different things associated with plants, the ground, and other flora in general.

The Lost Rainbow: Favorite Music Genres

So while I am taking a little break from planning/working on the novel, one thing I wanted to do was work on finding theme songs and potentially making mini playlists(of like, at least 5 songs each) sometime as well. But, before I get to that I wanted to figure out the general music tastes for everyone first. I’m only doing the characters that are 13 and up for now, since those were the easiest to figure out plus would have more of a variety/preference to choose from.

((Keep in mind these may not be the only genres they like/listen to, as some have favorites from other genres as well, but these are just the more prominent ones they like))

. Ignatius Von Brandt: hip hop(only to work out to), classic rock

. Hestia Von Brandt: rock(any rock, but mostly enjoys classic and punk rock)

. Amaya Neptune: she doesn’t have a particular favorite genre, but generally prefers ‘softer’ sounding music(like Disney and ballads)

. Brooke Alagona: hip hop, some pop(mostly ‘older’ pop like from the 90′s, but does like some of the newer, ‘cheeser’ songs as well), ‘meme’ songs
