Delisted Games
Even in the age of digital, nothing lasts forever! As is the quote taking from their website. Delisted Games (https://delistedgames.com) is the best website on the net tracking the huge number of digital titles that have been pulled from sales and it's turning into a mammoth task with more and more games being delisted each and every week.
Tumblr media
If you haven't been to the website it is the number one resource on the net for this topic and one we have used many times over the last few years. Run by Shawn S, Riven our editor recently spoke to him about the website and they are going to link to a few of our videos on the topic.
Head over to the website if you want to learn more, they were also looking for people to assist in updating the website as they track this never ending tasks. With the Xbox 360 store currently set to close late July this year at present there are sadly many more delistings to come.

Console Fighting Games of 2000 - Marvel Vs Capcom 2 New Age of Heroes
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 New Age of Heroes more commonly known as Marvel Vs Capcom 2 or just MVC2, is the second entry in the crossover series of fighting games featuring characters from Capcom and Marvel with a massive roster of 56 characters available to choose from.
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 New Age of Heroes was released in arcades in Japan in February of 2000 with a Dreamcast release coming just a month later again only in Japan. A US and Europe release of the game would follow later in the same year. Marvel Vs Capcom 2 has been ported to several systems over the years since its initial release.
A PS2 and Xbox port were released in 2002, with a port to the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2009. The game even received an iPad and iPhone release in 2012 as well.
Sadly due to the Marvel licence expiring listings for Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on the Xbox Live and PlayStation Stores were removed at the end of 2013, with iPad and iPhone listings also being removed not long after. The removal of the game listing from online stores has seen a significant increase in prices for physical copies of the game.

Goodbye, T.M.N.T. (Japanese) | Friday, 04.05.24
If you're in Japan right now, then fellow TMNT players, you're out of luck because the TMNT: Cowabunga Collection was delisted from Steam a week ago.
However, for the time being you can still buy and play the 13-game collection on other available platforms (Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, & Xbox Series X | S).

Sometimes I think back on the 9+ years I've been a fan of PMATGA.
With so much time that has passed, I've come to terms with the fact that the show is never coming back to continue its run. I've made peace with it and know that the chances of Namco picking it up again are next to none because of the show's poor ratings during its run.
It hasn't stopped me from being a fan though, and I can still appreciate its influence in my childhood while acknowledging that the show's over and it's closed its chapter, both in my life and just in the animated series sphere in general.
...BUT THEN sometimes I look back and nostalgia and fixation hits like a runaway brick train and all I can think of is DAMN YOU NAMCO PLEASE BRING IT BACK 😭

not believing the sonic generations remaster rumors unless it gets officially announced somewhere because people are going "bro.... this sonic game is totally gonna get a remaster soon..." literally all the time but if it is true . why sonic generations. it holds up fairly well i dont think it needs to be remastered what is the point. the only reason i can think of is making it more accessible to current gen consoles but even then. why cant they just port it without changing anything. why put the effort in for a full on remaster. also sonic generations is such a forgettable nothing game im sorry there are so many others that would have deserved this more

Please Save The Unreal Series of FPS Games!
This is grave news, for on this day, December 14 (15 in some regions), 2022, Epic Games has made the completely shocking and inane announcement of delisting and ending online multiplayer support for the beloved multiplayer arena FPS duology Unreal Tournament 1999 and Unreal Tournament 2004 alongside their singleplayer-centered predecessor Unreal and its expansion pack Return to Na Pali on Steam and their Epic Games Store, with their GOG fates in an unclear state (as of this writing). In return, they will deem Unreal Tournament 3 X, which is a contested title in the series, as a free purchase onwards while promoting the arguably more popular yet extremely controversial Fortnite in the usual helpful manner, so to speak.
This may be a bit too demanding if not sounding pathetic, but to anyone reading this and are most likely affected by this shake-up however recently or not, *please save this veritable trilogy of quality singleplayer and multiplayer gaming from the hells of abandonware, loss of love and support from dedicated fans and makers, and, in the vein of fandoms, the feared overratedness of battle royales, unpolished AAA titles, and other such flawed gaming concepts!* It would truly mean a lot if they will be preserved from the meanness of time, age, and trending relevancy, for I and others can only do this since we don't have the capability for petitions, protests, and the like. Spread the word, people, for until then, we drift and hope...

028: Whip! Whip!
Tumblr media
CANON FIRE is made possible by the generous contributions of readers like you. Support more writing like this on Patreon. Thank you!
With bright colors, cute mascots, a sweet pastry theme and a powerful gameplay hook, Whip! Whip! effortlessly captures the joy of the single screen arcade games it imitates. Whip! Whip! has distilled the style of games like Bubble Bobble, with level designs and mechanics that avoid the esoteric aspects of games of the era, and make the scoring system accessible and immediate. At the same time it brings a touch of nuance to the otherwise simple, traditional arcade controls, utilizing the full range of analog directions for aiming your grappling hook.
Tumblr media
Grappling an enemy will pull you towards them, through any walls that might separate you, while initiating a jump kick. Jump kicks can be maneuvered, so you can adjust the arc of the attack and land on several more enemies. Enemies hit with a jump kick will ricochet around the stage and turn into score items, with more value items generated if you hit multiple enemies with a single kick. Hit enough at once and not only will the coveted kakigori drop, but the letters to EXPAND, which give you bonus life when the set is collected.
Level designs are set up so you can hit multiple enemies at a time, with a variety of timings and routes through them. Routing adds a slight puzzle aspect, but small variables keep stages from feeling “solved” on repeat playthroughs. The trajectory of the initial attacks, follow up on the jump kick cause enemies to ricochet in different ways, and the bonus items that drop can be grappled to move dynamically through the stage.
Tumblr media
Where Whip! Whip! really shines over other genre entries are the boss fights. Boss fights are often a perfunctory, passive affair that have you keeping your distance as you whittle away at the enemy. By tying attacking to movement there’s inherent risk to be managed, and boss fights often involve attacking multiple points. Weak points are often vulnerable at the same time, so you can complete them faster if you’re willing to risk overextending and taking damage.
If you do overextend and get the dreaded game over, there isn’t a huge penalty, since you can continue from any stage previously reached. Attempting the one credit clear or challenge mode ramps up the stakes, and suddenly the very generous health system will begin to feel tighter. Scoring and racking up those bonus items becomes more important in this situation, which leads to a natural push and pull of trying to knock out as many enemies at once as possible, without slipping up.
Tumblr media
Whip! Whip! is definitely a pure genre game, but it does just enough to make it both interesting and fresh, and its adorable vibes and welcoming presentation give it a pretty wide appeal, which should make it much easier to recruit partners for its two player mode. It’s full of plenty of upfront sweetness, with touches of a more complex flavor to give it a long term appeal.
Unfortunately, the ending to this story isn’t as sweet, with developer Alpha-Unit sadly going bankrupt after releasing this game. They were previously known mostly for licensed anime games, and Whip! Whip! has ended up as a bit of a standout in their catalog, among the few translated titles released in English. The game was subsequently delisted from the Switch eShop, though it currently remains available on Steam.
