yuuta exhibits such previously abandoned, recently adopted dog behavior. incredibly anxious all the time, even though nobody’s out to get him or leave him behind. waits for you to return home or from school or from work excitedly, just to see you when you walk through the door. follows you around senselessly, hovering in your space just for the sake of companionship. initiates affection in prodding ways—starts off next to you, then a hand on your thigh, then deems it safe to lay all the way down, then slowly pushes his head into your lap. gets up whenever you need to get up, and resumes his position as soon as you’re ready. brings you gifts as a sign that he’s thinking of you, and maybe because he likes the affection it brings out in you, maybe because he likes the gentle affirming touches of a hand in his hair or a pinch to his cheek. rests his head on your stomach or his chin on your shoulder when he’s sleepy, stays there, immobile, and will not move unless absolutely necessary. sometimes he gets surprised when he hears you calling for him, there’s a moment of disbelief as he thinks “me? really? you need me?” but it’s very quickly overshadowed by this compulsive need to show up, to please, to do anything for you, which is why he always answers when you call. he doesn’t realize that he has puppygod eyes, especially when he’s excited or confused, but he does and it’s incredible endearing. very reluctant to share your space or attention after a while, considers that to be sacred and he won’t risk being let go or lost again, so as a safety precaution, he keeps himself right by you, waits for you always.

let's talk about shane from stardew valley

people who shit talk about shane because of how his spouse room looks (showing signs that he may have relapsed, that's despite being in recovery he's still actively struggling with addiction, ect.) are just as bad as men who date a woman that they know is mentally ill, and then throw a fit or break up with her when she shows signs of mental illness.

it's the exact same thing, to a tee. people are complaining/divorcing him literally because his spouse room shows that he's still struggling with a mental illness/staying sober despite being in therapy and going to meetings.

and guess what, that's exactly how addiction works. you don't stop and it just goes away. you relapse over and over, while doing your very best. relapse/"slipping" is a vital part of recovery, just like therapy and attending your meetings (if you have them for your particular addiction).

addict's will live with the aftermath of, and be in recovery with, their addictions until the day that they die. no matter how long they are sober, there is always a small chance for a relapse or a slip in your judgement. i speak from experience in this, both as someone who has family members who were/are addicts and as someone who has addictions (that are tied to other mental health issues, not substance based).

shane is doing his best to recover, for the people he loves, and doesn't deserve to be treated badly because of something that's a natural part of the recovery process- that he's trying so hard to not let happen.

also, shane is definitely an asshole for a while after you meet him- i completely understand that, and im not arguing with that. you have every right to not like a character, or not want to be married to a character, but not liking them of not wanting to marry them simply because they're mentally ill/you can visually see the way their mental illness manifests is not okay.

also, what is his deal with randomly putting up joja wallpaper in the house? what's the reason? what was he thinking when he did that?

What do they do in their free time? Well, I mean their daily life.

The fact that Nell loves to fall into self-flagellation and get drunk is a no brainer. But he does something besides that.

Or Nicole - she not only sits and reads books and drinks coffee all day long.

I think you understand what I mean.

They day by day activities are something i had for another post, but since you mentioned Nell getting drunk, i would like to leave something clear.

Nell doesn't actually like to drink.

All the killer team tried the fermented lemonade first (they were the ones to open one of the machines) and there was mixed reactions:

-Callem was the one that could drink the most without getting drunk, and while drunk he just keep laughing and then falling asleep, so he's kind of the good drunk type (funny thing if we think how hothead he's when sober).

-Charlie didn't like the taste (too sweet for him), but his curiosity in the situation make him push himself to drink till get drunk to see how could it affect him. The results? He got shitface and sleep for 3 whole days, Alba was almost sure he was comatosed, but he said that ''probably his body didn't like the sugar''

-Amara couldn't stand even 1 can before puking all out, after that she considered it the devil's drink.

And then we get Nell, that the moment he tried it he feels... familiar. He knew this taste, but couldn't remember from where. He didn't share this thought with the team and decided to not drink more 'cause the familiar feel wasn't exactly making him feel good, but later share it with Alba.

That's why Callem was surprised to see him drink himself till drunk, 'cause he hadn't even show a like to the lemonade before.

After that Alba remembered that in Nell's file it said that he came from a abusive household with addictions problems, so she put 1 +1 together and thought that probably Nell had to live in a place were someone used to drink when in bad moods, and even probably drink it himself at one moment (something bad if we remember that Nell got to playcare when he as around 10/11 y/o), so that's why Nell knew the taste and also why he looked for the lemonade when he was feeling down.

Alba keep this info for herself, but decide to tell the rest of the team to dispose of the limonade in the bathrooms, using what happens to Charlie and Amara as a excuse, but in reality she knew she wasn't prepared to deal with Nell spiraling into a posible addiction due his emotional problems, so she had to be safe for everybody.

look, i don't know how to tell y'all that it is SO beyond panera's "charged" lemonades just how badly we, as a society, have gotten about acting like caffeine just isn't that big of a deal

do you how much caffeine is in a celsius? or an alani? or a prime or a ghost or literally any other "healthy" energy drink that's on the market. yeah, they're all marketed as "healthy, clean caffeine" but you know how much caffeine is in just ONE of those cans?

200 mg. 200 mg, MINIMUM, in almost every single one of those drinks. some of them climb as high as 300 mg in ONE can of energy drink.

and that's not even taking into account how prolific the idea of pre-workouts have become in fitness circles. i used to work at a place that sold fitness powders like protein and creatine and pre-workouts. pre-workouts is a fancy term for caffeine powder that gets you really, really stimulated and is supposed to help you work out. which would be fine, if these powders didn't have up to 400 MILLIGRAMS of caffeine in two servings. sometimes even ONE SERVING. are you seeing what i'm getting at?

caffeine is fine, in low doses, everyone once in a while, but as a society, it is getting so out of hand just how easy it is for people to come across these drinks and not even GLANCE at how much caffeine they're about to drink. panera is just the most recent perpetrator of a problem that has been going on for quite some time.

Remember how I pointed out that the cave entrance young Viktor walks through when he first meets Singed has an impression that looks like a hooded emaciated figure?

What if that's Huck?

I'm bringing this up because in Bridging the Rift we get a short glimpse of some future animation with a file title, "viktor_hexcorized_001:1_arm_IK". Without the purple coloring it could be hard to tell which arm is the hexcorized arm, but if you look closely, you can see the arm coming from the left pushing into the obscured face.

The arm has the same layered metallic sheet metal folding as the uncolored model of Viktor's foot, which is under the file name, "viktor_mech_arm_naked_model_w029.ma".

What does any of this have to do with Huck? It's Huck's character model that Viktor has his hand placed over. While we can't see Huck's face we can see the distinguished by the fleshy discolorations (and growths) that cover Huck's skin from his shimmer use. From the twisting lesions on his torso.

To the growths on his hand.

If we put it all together we can see that in this clip Viktor and Huck are in the scene together, possibly in the Sump post-banishment. Viktor has his hand over Huck's face for some reason.

My best guess is that once Viktor leaves Piltover he'll see the debilitating conditions people like Huck live with and will try to help them using the Hexcore, turning them into a similar condition as Viktor did with himself because it did at least require some form of Shimmer. Huck and others like him in desperate need of help won't be transformed (or powerful?) like Viktor. The people Viktor helps will probably care more that they've received any form of help than worry about what kind of Void hybrid he's likely turned them into.

Bonus points if they form a hive mind!

I'm curious. I've seen your art and something that's come to my mind is what actually got you attached with the Subway brothers. Your narrative on their different AU forms is so unique which is what brought me to that question

Alright, rat history time.

So basically back in 2021-2022, I was working on an old OC storyline (about 3 years old by then) and I was in grade 9 so I was like “A new Pokémon game? Pfft, like I care” and just didn’t watch any of the stuff related to PLA when it dropped. I still got recommended Twitter posts about it on Instagram and I ended up seeing this one.

I tried looking up Ingo cause I was like "oh, funky design, looks like a captain or something" but I didn't end up finding anything so I didn't press further. Anyways in March break of 2022, I got bored and decided to put some game streams on in the background while I drew. I saw Alpharad's PLA video and decided to watch it for a bit when I saw Ingo.

I was like "Hey you're the guy from Twitter!" and since I knew his name now, I looked him up and found his Bulbapedia article. I found him much more interesting than the rest of the PLA cast since he had history outside PLA, and I ended up reading up whatever I could find on him. I also by extension discovered Emmet this way, which only served to suck me deeper down the rabbit hole. By the end of March break I had a fan OC and 2 AUs made with more on the way, as well as a YouTube recommended page with nothing but theory videos on Ingo and decade old Submas content.

Around May I decided to decommission my OC storyline for personal reasons, and by this point Submas was starting to occupy more of my creative work anyways. Since I didn't have my storyline to put my energy into, I started funnelling literally any story ideas into Submas. This led to nonstop content for a shockingly long time, and ofc I'm still coming up with stuff now.

Long story short, I got attached to them by accident! It was a "right place, right time" sort of thing since they came in as I was starting to get sluggish with my original content and I ended up being more interested in writing for them.

As for narratives, I am effectively playing dolls with these guys. Usually the kind of stuff that I write for them is meant for OCs, but I dumped the 60+ person cast so I put that energy into them instead.

Most AUs will either have a core theme, an out of pocket idea, or both to make things interesting. Usually I just come up with a dumbass idea like "what if we brought ReBURST back for a rerun" or "what if Emmet signed a contract with an eldritch space spider" or "what if Submas could see into the future" and stuff like that, then it picks up themes as I keep writing. For some silly examples:

Burst is based on Pokémon ReBURST and the idea of human-Pokémon fusion, but there's focus on skill, how characters misperceive it, and resentment as a result. There's also a spotlight on inferiority complexes, bottled up guilt, and blind confidence depending on which main character you look at

Journal is about a diary that helps Ingo to regain his memories, and it focuses on remembrance and regret as a result of him reading it. Spotlight on lacking awareness vs hyper awareness and the monotony of living as people around you leave

Oracle is exactly what it sounds like, with the twins being able to see into the future. It focuses on cooperation and the importance of working together, but also learning how to work alone. The spotlight's on jealousy and gratitude for this one, though the latter greatly outweighs the former in this case

I also just have AUs I made to try deranged shit for funsies, like Sapioflora, Cybernetic/Z-Λ, Team Supernova, and Idol. Those are mostly for exploring goofy ideas that may or may not go anywhere.

Right anyways basically I just saw Submas after watching PLA gameplay and found the twins more interesting to write about than the project I'd exhausted by then. The narratives are like that because the AU ideas I make are actually OC concepts that I modify to fit Pokémon specifically for these two or ideas about the two that I'd like to explore. drabble; 500ish words

-- ghost absolutely grew up in a shitty council estate in the greater manchester area (i'm thinking salford prior to any of the regenerative efforts that have gone into it), in a shitty two up-two down house, with his shitty violent drunk of a father, his battered mother and his brother tommy. i can just see how simon's life prior to joining the armed forces was marked by his father's rage and violence, his mother's fear and his brother's resentment at being trapped.

simon's dad is constantly in and out of prison during his childhood which makes things better and worse at once. better because there's a modicum of peace that allows the bruises to heal on simon's ribs and face, allows tommy to start smiling through the resentment that's festering under his skin, allows his mum a chance to call in the council to replace the doors to the kitchen and living room that have been ripped off their hinges. but it's simultaneously worse because while his dad's inside his mum has to make do with only one set of job seeker's allowance and housing benefit. it means going hungry more often then not, it means knowing that he's not getting new joggers now that he's shot up a few inches at 14 and even wearing his younger brother's cast offs isn't an option for him.

and thats when he picks up dealing. nothing hard. just a bit of weed (never coke or gear or pills), just a little bit so he's got enough cash to get new clothes from charity shops for him and tommy. just enough cash that he can pop money on the gas and electric keys. just enough cash that he can pick up pot noodles for tea. it comes crashing down when his old man is released again when he's 16 and suddenly his cash is being used on crates of stella to pacify him. it's spent on a second hand tv and playstation to keep tommy up in their shared room and away from angry words and angrier fists. it's spent on a shitbox nissan micra that he doesn't have a licence for. it's spent on kingsized rolling papers and pouches of cheap baccy until he can roll a perfect joint in under a minute before sitting in the back seat of his shitty car under some shitty streetlight and smoking until the fear in his lungs has been replaced by sweet and sour smoke and a craving for a rustlers chicken burger.

all of this just to say that simon "ghost" riley keeps dealing even as he joins the armed forces. the cash gets tucked away into a post office account he knows his mum and brother can access, an apology for abandoning them and a way of showing he still cares. he keeps dealing even after his brother is dead due to an overdose and his mum's in the wind after having escaped tommy's death and his dad's abusive fucking clutches. he keeps dealing even when simon is declared legally dead and he becomes ghost.

after all, you can't have a ghost on payroll can you?
