I don’t know how old Duke is supposed to be in Batman New 52, but he looks around 15 to 16 years old. So considering the fact that he was nominated for the Crowne Genius Grant at the possible age of 11 to 12 years old is so impressing.

My fave’s a genius!!!

I also really like what Duke said about his parents in the last panel,

“No matter how bad things got, my folks never caved to Gotham. So I’m not going to either.”

Request Guideline (2023 Edition)

if you haven’t read my last post (i’ll link it here if you want to read) i’ve decided to revamp my page a little. i’m getting back into writing so i thought i should make another request guideline that better aligns with me and what i want to write and who i want to write for. so enjoy ;)

please make requests here. if there’s any problem with the link let me know! (the link doesn’t work at the moment i’ll add it as soon as i get my laptop back — click the link in my bio or on my masterlist in the mean time :) )

Guidelines:

When requesting please give me the character/celebrity, the show or movie they are from, a description of what you want, whether it will be fluff, angst, smut etc and if you want to be tagged.

i may not always do smut, especially if it’s not something i’m comfortable with. this is not always the case however but if it is then i’ll let u know if i cannot complete the request.

Please specify if you would like it to be a female, gender neutral or male reader. Just as i explained in my previous post i do not write malexmale smut as it is nothing something i have any experience with - sorry. I will do threesomes (or more) where at least one woman is present :)

I wont write an imagine about a gay character being straight.

I am willing to write imagines about darker topics. Such as depression, suicide, eating disorders, etc. I will not however write in detail about rape but i am okay with it being mentioned/ hinted.

My intention is not to glorify or romantise any of these thing, especially since some of them are things i have gone through myself. In the past i haven’t always been sensitive or appropriate with the way i’ve handled them and i’m incredibly sorry if i’ve ever offended anyone or triggered them - this was never my intention. I have taken down some of the work i no longer feel comfortable being public for this reason so please do let me know if something i write bothers you and i’ll take it down.

I also dont like writing imagines where the character/celebrity is a kidnapper or murderer sorry. I also wont do incest relationships.

I dont do ships. I do reader imagines or if youd like to add a name to your request then ill more than happily do it like that.

I will do imagines on plus sizes readers. I will do imagines for family imagines as well and platonic ones too - please assure this is clear within the request.

When you request something dont expect it to be up straightaway but i will try my hardest to be as quick as possible. I know with my track record that’s not saying much but i really do intend to be better and i’ll try and be more transparent about where i’m at with requests.

In the future there may be some changes to this list based on what i am interested in at the current time. Also if a character you want to request for isnt on the list but the actor is feel free to ask if i’ll do it for that character :)

I dont consent to anyone using my work without permission and if you see anyone doing that please let me know :)

perseus de león was born in the heart of ensenada, mexico

his father was in love with greek mythology, so, he named his firstborn after his favorite hero ( and later naming percy’s younger sister persephone, a greek goddess )

to him, family was everything. his parents taught him the importance of family, and also provided him with all of the love/support he needed growing up

when percy was about ten, his father was offered a job as a history professor in michigan state university, so, they packed their bags and moved to a small town close by

life in america was . . . definitely something to get used to. the culture was completely different from what he had back home in mexico, so moving was overwhelming for him

he had a hard time making friends at school, since, the language barrier made it difficult for him to connect with and often spent his time behind a computer on club penguin or playing halo rather than hanging out with others after class

he was a shy kid; while his parents encouraged him to go out there and make friends, his social anxiety said no

this transferred over all the way to high school, which, kind of benefited him considering he excelled in his classes through and through. 4.0 gpa, ap classes, high sat scores, he was killing it academically throughout his entire high school career

it wasn’t until the beginning of his sophomore year when he met a group of people who later became not only his core group of friends, but family. <3 they made him feel comfortable enough to come out of his shell

even though he was accepted into cal tech and studied computer science in southern california for his entire college career, he never lost touch of his life back home. he made sure that every year, he would show up wherever they planned to meet, and it would always feel like nothing really changed

then came 2019, when their tik tok went viral. percy first said no to the spotlight, showing up in these videos making a 😗 ✌️ and not saying a word. though as viewers began to demand his appearance and hyped him up, it boosted his confidence. slowly but surely, he became a real part of it, even if his tik tok dancing gives severe secondhand embarrassment

fast forward to the present: now with the 2nd season of the mtv show in action, his goal is to be more open and out there, while simultaneously never losing himself to the fame

kinda has a really soft voice, and when people say “ can you speak a little louder ? ” it makes him want to curl up and cry

definitely a night owl, and will always need a coffee in the morning

the biggest star wars fan; has a collection of lightsabers and lego sets. don’t ask him about star wars unless ur ready to hear him talk about it for hours. also if ur lucky, he may even bring out the yoda impression when he’s tipsy FDJGHD

even though he’s in utah filming the show, the boy is still working. legit workaholic and sometimes in certain shots when filming, u will catch him on his laptop w his lil glasses on either coding or in zoom meetings

100% the type of person who will take care of u. ur sick ? he will bring u soup. feeling down ? he will let u vent to him. car broke down in the middle of the highway ? he will drive down to u and help u put ur spare tire. i’m pretty sure his love language his acts of service

Duke Thomas: Character Cheat-Sheet

Finished reading through (most of) his chronology- here’s what I learned (and how I interpret his character).

Powers:

For most of his chronology thus far, he didn’t know he had powers at all, but now he does. Those powers fall into two categories: the light, a metahuman ability he inherited from his mother; and the dark, a metahuman ability he acquired from Ishmael (a villian) in Batman and the Outsiders.

The light:

Ability to perceive where light has (and hasn’t) been and where it is going to be. Using this, he can predict movements into the future and see where people have been. It’s possible this is using literal light science, in that light is displaced when people move and that’s what he sees, but it is implied that people generate some sort of metaphysical ‘light’ that he can see.

The dark:

Ability to control pitch black shadows. These shadows are never shown to be less than completely black (no gradient or anything) and though he controls their movements, we (the reader) don’t know if they can actually touch anything or if they are literally just the complete absence of light, created artificially.

Character Traits:

Duke’s driving force is his determination. Like Bruce, he can’t allow himself to do nothing when people are in danger.

Duke’s biggest character flaw is his uncertainty. He is not uncertain (pretty much ever) in what he should do or what it is right to do; he is uncertain in his capabilities, especially when it comes to belonging with others or being taken seriously by others.

Duke desires a safer world where people hold themselves responsible for helping others and not allowing injustice.

Duke fears being pitied or condescended to.

Legal Relationships:

For much of his life, Duke lived with his mother and father, until they were exposed to Joker toxin from which they never recovered.

Duke was apparently homeless during the We Are Robin storyline, but he could also have been living in his old place where his parents lived until he found them and realized that they weren’t coming home.

Duke was briefly fostered by Bruce Wayne, but this appears to have lasted maybe weeks to months (it’s hard to tell what amount of time has passed in comics). EDIT: about 1-1.5 years. Thanks deardairy!

Duke now lives with a family member; either an uncle or cousin who only makes one appearance.

Personal Relationships:

Within the Batfamily:

Duke is closest with Bruce, who plays a mentor role for him but who he explicitly does not see as a father figure.

Duke is also close with Cass, who he refers to once as a sister and who plays a protective older sibling role to him.

Duke has some relationship development with Damian and with Dick, though Dick betrays him at the end of that so it’s hard to say how he feels about him.

Duke is in scenes with Jason, though they don’t seem to know each other very well.

He hasn’t met Steph or Tim, as far as I know.

He knows Alfred from his time living at Wayne manor, though their relationship is not really explored. They do seem to have spent some time together.

Outside of the Batfamily:

Duke is friends with some of the other Robins from We Are Robin, especially Isabella Ortiz (who he may or may not be dating? I think he is?) and Riko Sheridan.

His old friend Daryl Gutierrez, an engineer, turned out to be responsible for Mr. Bloom, a villian who distributed seeds Daryl made that gave people powers (and occasionally killed them). Mr. Bloom was a cadaver Daryl experimented on, and him name is unknown. Daryl now resides in Arkham.

Duke has a friend with two moms who joined a gang to pay off his moms’ debts for his conception and birth. Duke used to babysit him.

Duke knows Gotham Girl (Claire Clover), and is close friends with her for some time before she is essentially written out of the story.

Duke meets Katana (Tatsu Yamashiro) and Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning) when he joins the Outsiders. He also meets Shiva, who he likes but distrusts.

Relationship Dynamics:

Duke is usually content to sit back and listen, unless he wants to point out the absurdity of something or disagree with something. He rarely reacts to things with shock, and instead digs his feet in, no matter how bizarre the situation. He has taken leadership roles in the past, and to some extent he seems suited to them, but I don’t think he’s a very confident leader. People follow him regardless.

Metatextual Role:

Personally, I think Duke is meant to become the modern relatable one, the way Tim was in the 90s. He’s not a potential Olympic gymnast or a childhood prodigy, he had a normal childhood, he worked his way towards being respected by the hero community. As the relatable one, he is the character in which we (batman and robin fans) live out our fantasies- interacting with characters with extremely polarized personalities, getting opportunities to improve our life and the lives of others, having an impact on the future of the world.
