The Dannypocalypse

I don’t know how to photoshop yet, so this will be my first contribution to the Dannypocalypse instead! It’s unfortunately very short compared to my usual work. I think I did a good job despite it, though! Hope you enjoy!

Actual Summary: Warriors has what he believes to be the weirdest nightmare, Danny is confused.

Word count: 1,919

The first thing Warriors noticed waking up was the lack of the smell of cooking food. That, along with routinely having to get up almost before he even realized he was awake when he was captain, helped him push himself to wakefulness almost instinctively. He didn’t pay much attention to that small part of his mind still trying to put up a fight and get him to go back to sleep. It’s lost for years, and it won’t win this time. Although he felt a little bit heavier than usual. Warriors rubbed the gunk out of his eyes before stretching his arms above his head.

He slowly stood up and opened his eyes to see Wild, Wind, and Four huddled together with their backs facing him. Looking around, Warriors couldn’t see anyone else. The clearing they’d set up camp in was vacant aside from him, the three heroes, and the pot. The forest was also oddly quiet, and it was much later in the day. Maybe closer to lunch than breakfast. The realization made a part of his subconscious panic and think that any moment now, he’d be scolded badly, like back in training.

All these things were off and didn’t make much sense. How did he sleep in that late? Or not notice the others leaving? And if the fire was burning, why couldn’t he smell the smoke? He walked towards the three heroes who were probably looking at the ingredients that hadn’t been cooked yet. Maybe they were deciding what to actually cook. Interrupting was usually rude, but Warriors had to know.

“Hey, where are the others?” He asked. The three of them turned around to face him in unison, and to say that Warriors was startled by what he saw would be an understatement.

Where there should’ve been their faces, Danny’s face had replaced them. They all held the same expression, something akin to irritation or semi-controlled anger. Like the expression was asking “Did you really just do that?”. It was wrong. Very wrong. Not only their face, but also their hair was exactly like Danny’s. The unnatural sight was more scary to Warriors than it should’ve been. He’s felt true fear before, fear that erased everything else in his mind until there was nothing left except his internal voice screaming at him to run, and this was pretty close to it.

The sense of dread that came from seeing someone’s face on a person it didn’t belong to made him feel like he was frozen in place. His mind screamed at him to run, to get away from whatever was happening, but he couldn’t.

The three of them stood up. That was the push Warriors needed to finally move his legs and take a step back, then another. Another step back, and the three heroes took one towards him. Even though they weren’t holding any weapons or a shield, that was enough to make Warriors finally turn his heel and break out into a sprint in the opposite direction. Not towards any specific destination, just away from whatever he’d just seen.

Why did they have the new kid’s face?! How did that happen?! It hadn’t even looked like some mask, it was like their very heads were replaced as soon as they turned around. Where was the original? Where were the others? Maybe they knew something.

The worst thing was even though the captain was going as fast as he could, he felt like he was going at a snail’s pace, and it was terrifying. One glance behind him showed the three abominations running after him, still bearing the same expression. The forest seemed to go on for quite a while before he broke out into a large field he remembered passing through with everyone earlier. Standing by a tree in the shade were the silhouettes of three people.

Warriors could see the outlines standing out against the sunlight covered grass behind them, but for some reason, he couldn’t make out who they actually were. One of the shapes looked like Sky with the cape, but the other two were more difficult. Regardless, he sprinted towards them.

“Hey! Sky?! Is that you?!” Warriors asked, sounding more panicked than he would’ve liked, but he felt like he couldn’t help it. The three of them stepped into the light. Sky, Legend, and Hyrule all had Danny’s face and hair instead of their own.”No, it’s not!” Warriors said, answering his own question. He turned to the left and bolted across the plains, still feeling as if he was moving incredibly slow. It was like he was watching everything ahead inch closer through glass goggles.

Still, seeing his friends’ faces replaced with the new kid’s face was unnaturally horrifying, especially when they’re chasing him without opening their mouths to take steady breaths so they could keep going while Warriors feels like he’s suddenly running low on breath. It only got worse when he suddenly found himself re-entering the forest and running along a skinny dirt path. That wasn’t the bad part, though. The bad part was Time sitting on a small boulder to the right of the path. Just like the other six, he too wore Danny’s face.

“Shit!!” Warriors exclaimed as he ran past. Time watched him pass by before Warriors heard the sound of heavy armor starting to move, and he knew that he was about to chase him as well. It only fueled Warriors’ fear even further, pushing him to run past his limits, and that’s just what he did.

The dirt path led him to a spirit spring like the one in Kakiriko village, surrounded by very tall rocky walls consisting of red and orange colors. On the other side, the water turned to grass to support a fence. A fence encasing several Ordonian goats like in Twilight’s drawings along with Twilight himself, petting the goats like there was nothing wrong.

Warriors had his doubts about him being okay and not having Danny’s face, but he had to try. He must know what was going on!

The water splashed loudly as Warriors ran into the shallow lake. Soon, seven pairs followed behind him. The way the water turned from a clear liquid into solid green grass as he grew closer was definitely abnormal. There should be at least sand between them!

He lunged over the fence when he grew close enough, ducking into a roll and standing up quickly.“Twilight! Thank goodness!” Warriors exclaimed. He started to slow down a little as he grew closer to the ranch hand.”Listen, there’s something—“ He stopped talking when Twilight turned around to reveal that he also had Danny’s face instead of his own. Warriors immediately started running again somewhere to the right, and Twilight’s footsteps following behind him never sounded so scary.

He jumped over the fence on the other side of the plain and kept running now on solid ground as fast as his legs could go, and he even did all he could to push them past that. The way the rocky canyon surrounding the spring opened up on the other side to reveal more open space and green grass didn’t make sense. How was he back on the plains?

He’d seen the map had Twilight shown them of his Hyrule, but trying to reach into his memories and get a clear image of it was very difficult. He was running blindly through a world he wasn’t familiar with, and it was one of the worst positions to be in. Warriors continued running through the forest until he spotted a castle in the distance.

Yes! The castle town! He was sure he’d find help there from the guards!

Warriors kept going as fast as he could, fast enough to make part of him tell him to slow down or he’d trip and hit the ground that was slowly becoming white bricks, but he refused to listen. Especially when that small part of him was outvoted by the rest of him. He ran over a wooden bridge going over a river and past the open, unguarded entrance. Once he was inside and saw the crowd, his eyes widened in horror. He forced himself to stop so suddenly that he almost fell.

Every single person, young and old, tall and short, wore Danny’s face. And they were looking right at him.

Warriors turned around to try to get out and get somewhere else, but he stopped when he saw his friends right at the entrance he’d passed mere seconds ago. They formed a wall and blocked him from leaving.

How did they get there so fast?!

The captain frantically looked around. The crowd was slowly closing in on him, but it felt like he only had seconds to do something or some terrible fate would claim him as its next victim. No matter where he turned, the weird Danny-faced-not-Dannys would be blocking any exit. He didn’t want to do this, but seeing no other option, Warriors tried to reach back for his sword. But his hand clasped over thin air. He turned around. He’d forgotten it back at the camp.

Before he could turn back to look ahead, a hand grabbed at his left shoulder.

Warriors startled awake and inhaled sharply as he sat up. For a while, the world was concealed by several black, fuzzy looking dots, but those soon faded away to allow room for what was actually in front of him. At the same time, he became dizzy when he sat up too fast, so he didn’t process whatever was said to him or even notice it until it was repeated.

“Are you okay?” A voice asked.

Warriors quickly turned to see Twilight knelt down next to him. Warriors felt swarmed with relief when he saw that he had his normal face again, black marking and all. He couldn’t help but breathe out a small sigh as the tension from expecting to see Danny’s face unnaturally plastered on the ranch hand’s head again vanished. He never thought he’d be so happy to see someone wearing a face that was their own.

It was then that Warriors registered the hand on his left shoulder. It was all a dream.

Twilight looked worried as he anticipated an answer.

Warriors took a moment to look around the campsite, just to be sure. Sure enough, everyone had their normal faces. Time, Wind, Wild, Hyrule, Legend, Four, all of them. They were already awake and talking while Wild worked on breakfast. Warriors lifted his arm and put his head in his hand. Twilight still had his hand on his shoulders to try to comfort him.“I think I just had the weirdest nightmare of my life.” Warriors admitted, half muttering it in slight disbelief.

Even though he wasn’t in actual danger in the dream and he was awake now, the fear for his life still lingered in the back of his mind. None of Danny-look-alikes had really threatened him, but the way they kept following him and eventually had him surrounded with the only way out seeming to be with his sword was terrifying.

“Really? What was it about?”

Warriors practically jumped out of his seat and turned to look at Danny. The only one with his face, the way it should be. The hoard of Danny’s flashed in Warrior’s mind as he stared at the teen now with slight distrust.”I’ve got my eye on you.” Warriors said, before he even realized it. Danny, the real one, just looked at him confused.

Bonus:

Danny: *glancing between the other Links, then back at Warriors, utterly confused* What did I do???

(I hardly ever write dreams, but I remember some of mine pretty often, so I tried using some of the themes I’d encounter along with some tips I looked up. Obviously, I used the whole “somehow running very slowly” thing, and since Warriors wasn’t familiar with Twilight’s world yet, and dreams are often mixtures of reality, memories, and imagination, I didn’t think I had to make sure the story went along with the map. I also tried to find some middle ground between not being very descriptive and not giving any description of the dream surroundings.)

Hello! You can call me Robyn if you want, and for my first actual post I wanted to give an explanation for the… interesting, site that Tumblr becomes today. At least with the Danny Phantom fandom (the Phandom if you will). So welcome to Dannypocalyse!

Dannypocalypse is a yearly event celebrating the Danny Phantom! And more so the Phandom in my opinion, as it is essentially a separate entity by now. And in true Phandom fashion, it’s weird (affectionate, with me it’s always the affectionate kind of weird). Not even gonna sugarcoat it. So I am going to do my best to help some wayward new fans or people unfortunate enough to stumble on this event without proper context.

When I was newer to the fandom, I was also missing quite a bit of context for everything. But lucky for me, I am very good at rolling with whatever, so I just accepted weirdness and moved on (seriously, I accepted that Wes Weston was an actual preexisting character for way too long before I really understood).

Essentially Dannypocalyse is just flooding Tumblr especially, with photoshopped photos of the titular character Danny Phantom, and if your wondering where you would find them I’ve got nothing, this is my contribution to Dannypocalyse, (sorry, not my thing), but I am hoping someone more experienced will help.

This event also takes place on the original airing of Danny Phantom, April 3rd!

So no, Tumblr has not been taken over by whatever you thought it was, and yes, it’s essentially an inside joke within a fandom. Fun!

And here are my sources because never let it be said that you shouldn’t cite your sources. (also respect to @narwhalsarefalling, creating an insane annual event out of a joke is peak chaos and power and I have ridiculous levels of respect).

If you want to get into fanfiction you just have to accept that flanderization and popular fan interpretations of characters are something you're going to have to wade through even if you don't like them

I can understand the frustration of some people who get really into something (movie, book, show), and thus try and dive into fandom but then find that a considerable portion of fic has the characters being wildly out of character.

Especially if they find that an extremely popular fanon interpretation of a character, majorly conflicts with how said character is in canon.

For an easy example that's on my mind because it's the 20th anniversary of Danny Phantom, and also dannypocalypse.

Danny Fenton has a number of extremely flanderized fanon interpretations, which all conflict with who he is in canon, and the other fanon versions of him floating around.

A lot of fics will have Danny actually be just as much of a science/math genius as the rest of the Fenton family, and his bad grades are actually entirely due to the fact that he's too busy being Phantom to do anything related to school.

This directly contradicts with the show, which has more than one instance of Danny being so bad at math specifically, that it's completely valid to think he literally has dyscalculia.

Along with there literally being no evidence that Danny has any interest in math or any of the sciences beyond his desire to be an astronaut.

[Which when I learned the requirements for becoming an astronaut, I always thought Danny would be going the 1,000+ hours of pilot-in-command time on a jet aircraft route vs the degrees in a STEM field route. Considering how many hours he apparently put into the shuttle flight simulator already.]

A lot of fics will have Danny be a feral little gremlin kind of character, who does things like bites people, doesn't care how dirty he or his surroundings are, and will eat spoiled food.

Completely unlike Danny in the show. Who in spite of his weird smoothie experiments, refuses weird looking but completely edible food offered to him on more than one occasion. Along with his habit of vacuuming the walls when he cleans.

Then there's the whole Danny as the ghost king characterization, which has no basis in canon. Considering there isn't anything in canon that says the title is won by right of conquest, because we aren't given any information about how Pariah himself became the ghost king, or even if there were ghost kings before him.

Then there's the interpretation of Danny being too noble to use his powers for selfish gain, or commit crimes.

Even though in canon he uses his powers to prank Dash multiple times in the series with no repercussions for most of what he does. Along with being 100% willing to use his powers to cheat the haunted house contest, and also just straight up steal an ancient ghost artifact to make said haunted house scarier.

The thing about fanfiction is that characters are going to be different from what they're like in canon be default for a variety of reasons.

The author is changing the character to suit the story they wanna tell, the author is magnifying a canon trait of a character to explore it more, the author is inverting a character trait to see how that would change the rest of the character's story-

And 80 billion other variations of that idea.

Like I'm sorry if you turned to a bunch of hobbyist writers on the internet who write primarily for their own indulgence in search of more canon quality content, but you're not going to find it in 99.999999999999999% of fics you will ever find.

Sure you might find one specific fic or one specific writer, who you feels absolutely nails how a character acts in canon.

But also, not really, because your own perspective of how that character is supposed to act is tainted by your own opinions about that character.

Or for another example, if you go to the Miraculous fandom...

There's people who genuinely see Marinette as a kind of deranged stalker, and hate her to the point of wanting Adrien to end up with literally any other girl. Including the ones who want to use him for their own gain, like Lila, who doesn't even really like him romantically.

Because they hate Marinette, and want Marinette to suffer losing out to the girl she thinks is a bad person. More than they want Adrien to end up in a happy and functional relationship with a girl who would treat him well.

[Literally, I've seen Marinette haters insist Adrien needed to end up with either Lila or Chloe specifically, because Marinette approves of Kagami and willingly handed Adrien over to her. They want whoever Marinette likes the least to be who Adrien ends up with, even if he wouldn't be treated well by whoever that is.]

And there's people who genuinely see Marinette as the constant victim of unjustified cosmic karma, who would have solved the Hawkmoth thing and won over Adrien ages ago if it weren't for plot contrivances insisted upon by the writers. Who insist upon doing this to keep from solving the love square, to keep the will they/won't they plot going, which is one of the main focuses of the show.

The thing about being a traditional artist is that if it isnt in my sketchbook it is gone forever. I will keep looking for it, but thats for tomorrow because I am eepy. Second invisobang done! This year has been pretty hectic. I ended up switching fics more than halfway through the event, so it was kind of a struggle to get anything done near the end lol. I still had fun though, and I really enjoyed getting to talk to a lot of other folks in the phandom!

(I also have an unfinished sketch from my first fic I might finish and post later on because I liked it)

The answer is simple.

CAVE. JOHNSON.

Every universe that the combine has taken over is a universe where Cave Johnson died and aperture science faded into obscurity, because any universe where Cave Johnson is alive and/or aperture science wins against black mesa is a universe where the combine lose.

Firstly, Cave Johnson is smart enough to avoid causing a resonance cascade and will cancel any test that even has a chance of causing one. We know this because of blaberture mesa, where Cave cancels a test that could cause a resonance cascade, avoiding the entire black mesa incident and preventing the combine from even entering the universe in the first place.

Secondly, 99% of the things made by aperture science are weapons that could destroy armies if they are so much as looked at wrong WHEN APERTURE SCIENCE IS PRETTY MUCH BANKRUPT, any universe where aperture science has funding is a universe that outguns the entire combine without even trying.

So the combine only invade universes where Cave Johnson is dead and Aperture Science is destroyed by outside forces.

Any universe where Cave Johnson is fine is a universe that the combine cannot enter because they definitely don’t want to give that maniac any knowledge about the combine or their multiversal empire because he will either destroy them instantly or create an even stronger empire focused on science, and since this is Cave motherfucking Johnson we’re talking about, that science will be the most unethical science you’ve ever seen, and the combine will most likely end up as test subjects.

Even if that universe’s Cave Johnson is a perfect supporter of the combine, he’s still Cave Johnson, and should be avoided at all costs because the pros (portal technology) very much do not outweigh the cons (Cave Johnson).

Videos taken in Amity Park tend to become corrupted once they leave Amity Park. The entire thing seems normal while you’re in Amity but once you leave the video warps and corrupts and gains a sort of Analog Horror vibe with sudden cuts to things that were never recorded, videos looping on random parts, random corruption and strange whispering heard throughout the entire thing. It gets worse if a ghost was caught on video before leaving Amity Park because their ghostly aura corrupts the video further, adding random connections to the ghost’s origin, obsession and core. (Example: a video that briefly caught Ember on camera may suddenly cut to scenes of a burning building, sometimes showing a figure resembling a living Ember trying (and failing) to escape the blaze. The video will also contain distorted singing and/or a ghostly voice begging the viewer not to forget about her.) A large amount of stores in Amity Park sell things to counteract this.

You get a similar effect if you set a radio or old tv to static and go near a ghost. Their aura will warp the static and create “Ghost Noises”. Every ghost creates different noises and you can usually figure out what ghost is nearby based on what noises you hear in the static.

If Ember is nearby the you’ll hear a mix of distorted singing and a crackling fire. It may also play music sung by Ember on occasion.

Technus’s presence generates morse code and noises that, when made into a spectrogram, show detailed blueprints for electrical machines invented in the late 1800s. The blueprints are extremely detailed and are all labeled “PROPERTY OF NICOLAI TECHNUS”. The machines range from radios to induction motors to something that looks like an early prototype of a computer with internet capabilities. Most machines have already been invented by other people, but the blueprints seen here are all dated years before those machines were invented.

If you’re listening while Skulker is nearby you’ll hear the sounds of machines wiring and inconsistent beeping. This is the suit giving off ectoplasmic signals and ghost noises as it moves around. Skulker himself is too small and weak for their ghost noises to be heard.

Spectra’s ghost noises sound like whispering. It’s impossible to make out what exactly the whispers are saying, but some have claimed that the whispers addressed them by name, mentioned their families or said things regarding their personal lives with frightening accuracy.

On the rare occasions that Sydney Poindexter is wandering around you’ll hear muffled sobbing. Faint whispering, similar to the noises of Spectra can also be heard in the background.

Youngblood’s ghost noises are mostly silent, but occasionally the very faint sounds of tires screeching followed by a crash can be heard.

Most animalistic ghosts (think Ectopuses, Shadow, Cujo, etc) create faint growling noises, usually the same kind of noises that the creature itself makes.

Johnny and Kitty sound like a mix of engines, tires screeching and gunshots. Faint growling, similar to the sound Shadow makes can also be heard on rare occasions.

The Box Ghost generates the sounds of heavy machinery. If you listen carefully, you can hear someone that sounds like the box ghost arguing with an unknown person in the background.

Phantom creates a noise that sounds like either ice cracking or electricity with extremely slowed screaming noises that, when sped up, sound exactly like Danny’s ghostly wail.

Plasmius creates the sound of acid sizzling as it dissolves something, along with the sounds of fire and extremely slowed down screaming.

The Fright Knight’s ghost noises aren’t like the other ghosts. While other ghost noises are partially obscured by static, The Fright Knight’s ghost noises are clear and unobscured by any static or outside interference, sounding like loud, maniacal laughter with the sounds of buildings crumbling, people screaming, and ghost speak as a constant chant plays In the background, detailing the horrors of the lord of the dead; King Pariah and how to summon him, along with the consequences of making a deal with him.

While no one has ever heard the ghost noises of the King himself, most items associated with him have their own ghost noises that most agree are pretty close to what he would have sounded like. They all sound like chanting. The chanting recalls tales of the ghost king’s cruelty and power. Those who listen quickly become drawn into it, eventually becoming fanatic worshipers of the King.

Clockwork creates the sound of a clock ticking.

Pandora’s ghost noises sound like war chants.

Nocturne creates no noise, but instead creates a sudden pause in the static and a strong feeling of sleepiness.

Concept:

Danny needs to turn into Phantom to fight a ghost at school but can’t because he’s not allowed to leave the room and can’t find a hiding place, So he grabs a bunch of paper and markers, makes a fake ritual circle, steps inside and uses his ghost powers to make it look like an actual ritual (making his eyes glow, causing frost to form on nearby surfaces, etc) and pretends to “make a deal with Phantom” via talking to himself before transforming and leaving to fight the ghost.

After the fight someone asks him what the hell just happened and Danny lies and says something along the lines of, “That Fenton kid summoned me and let me temporarily possess him so I could fight that ghost. He’ll be back to normal once I leave.” Then he transforms back and pretends to not remember the fight.

They believe him and no one suspects he’s actually Phantom, but now he has to deal with all of Casper High asking him how the hell he “summoned” Phantom and trying to do it themselves.

Wes is tearing his hair out.

first of all as always I am EXTREMELY proud of us for annihilating the trending tab. awesome work everyone. keep the cursed content rolling

secondly, due to a mixture between thesis work, school work, and extracurricular musical endeavors, as you may have noticed this year's lexx musical release (titled "ghost weed") is unfortunately not complete. i do apologize, i really wanted to keep up the tradition of releasing a new meme song every april 3rd, but i have to postpone this year's release to a later date which i will announce when i figure out a new release time.

I'm new to the danny Phandom and i was wondering if you could give me some pointers to navigate? General vibe of the phandom? Do we acknowledge the movie thing and all "secret identity/revealed" fics take place in that nebulous space before the movie or does it not exit and we don't talk abt it

Stove is certainly a good place to start! Their art is so nice. Canon is dead to us anyway.

But? Movie? What are you talking about?

More seriously, most of us like to pretend Phantom Planet doesn’t exist. 99% of DP phanphic should be tagged cannon divergence just for that, but... we don’t. Actually, come to think of it, I'm not sure I’ve ever actually seen a phic get tagged with canon divergence. The most I’ve seen is just the alternate universe tag.

Going backwards, I’d say our general vibe is pretty friendly. At least here on tumblr. I don’t think I’ve ever really seen someone being outright mean before and I’ve been here a couple of years. Even though we have a lot of fanon, we’re pretty accepting and respectful of all headcanons. There’s very little we take as actually absolute. I mean, we’re split on whether Danny’s alive, dead, half-dead (whatever that means), or simply dead inside, like every other teen.

But we’re also sort of high-key lawful-chaotic. As in, we currently have a planned, scheduled, sh*tposting contest which takes place behind a virtual Denny’s. With brackets. If it happens this year, it’ll be the third year.

Further evidence: The only discourse we regularly have is food discourse. Occasionally we will make parody blogs to impersonate each other. We trend every year on the anniversary of the first episode air date because of the Dannypocalypse (aka we paste a cursed screenshot of Danny’s face onto everything). We phrequently replace leading ‘f’s with ‘ph’s (I started doing this as a joke, but sometimes I read a word and can’t tell the difference).

Speaking of events, we have a lot. Currently, we’re in the midst of our Secret Santa event, which we call either the Christmas Truce or the Holiday Truce after a in-universe event in the show. I think the next big event is the Phight Club (aforementioned sh*tposting contest), then we have the Phic Phight (we split into teams and write phanphic at each other to see who can do the most), the Dannypocalypse, Dannymay (month-long prompt calendar challenge), and Ectober (another prompt calendar, but there are like three of them done by three different people; the one I do is the one week one). Occasionally someone will make a new one out of nowhere, but I believe that all of these have taken place at least twice and their creators/hosts are still active.
