But anyways

In the tulpamancy community, visual imposition is a high-level skill where a member of the system (usually the tulpamancer) has a controlled hallucination of another member of the system (usually the tulpa). The process is kind of hard to explain but from what l understand, it's the conversion of high-level data (imagination) into data that the brain can interpret as coming from the cones in your eyes, producing a hallucination that with practice can become more and more convincing.

A big part in hallucinations is the belief that the hallucinations are real, which helps solidify in the mind that what is being perceived is actually there, and generally it's encouraged to start actually believing that your tulpa(mancer) is there with you.

In daemonism, projection is the act of imagining a daemon in your surroundings, simply. By how some describe it, it sounds a bit like a very simple hallucination, but it doesn't have to be.

A lot of projection I've heard is done with just imagination, with the daemian doing something and imagining their daemon is near them, floating somewhere, in their hair Ratatouille-style or anywhere - with the daemon taking any form of any proportion and dimension. There's no need for the them to feel externally real as from what I've heard they're mostly experienced as internal voices only so to the daemonism community the only requirement is that they are indeed imagined.

In the tulpamancy community I've seen debates of people arguing if an imposed tulpa should be able to phase through walls or fly, but with projection and the attitude that comes with it realism is not a priority and it just feels way more relaxed

A friend’s dæmon or at least how I believe he would look like in Lyra’s world. It’s a red ruffed lemur, I believe it fits her personality (ENFP, Lawful Good, Hufflepuff). Also she’s a Taurus. (Again I found it thanks to the analysis from The Dæmon Forum, it helped me a lot!)

There are different color variations of this drawing once again, I wanted to include Dust, you’ll see it in the last pictures, and I did English and French versions for the texts!

about us

i’m graham, she/they, 27. i got huge into daemonism like 10-15 years ago, but haven’t given it much proper thought in ages and ages. i happened upon the daemonism community on here and it made me want to get back in touch with my daemon.

aforementioned daemon’s name is claudius, and when last i interacted with him regularly he was a male coyote who occasionally took a binturong form. i feel like the coyote form is still his primary one, but i’ve changed a hell of a lot since i first met him in, i think, fifth grade? so part of the purpose of this blog will be to explore who and what claudius is now, years later.

i haven’t been around the daemian community in a good decade or so, so im also interested to learn what y’all are up to lately. the little bit of poking around i’ve done in the relevant tags has already introduced me to some new ideas!

It's hard to explain why Stannah and dæmonism is so important to me. He's not just a companion, he's a piece of myself I can use to externalise complex thoughts and decisions. I can talk to him and we can work through things. I can feel the comfort of his tiny feathered body against my neck in anxiety inducing situations. I can be more confident and know myself more through him. I don't care if it's unproven that such a thing can exist, it doesn't matter, all that matters is us.

Question coming from someone with autism and aphantasia(inability to see things in your mind's eye) could someone explain protection? Do you literally see your deamon or is it more of a metaphor?

(also if anyone has tips for projection it'd be appreciated! Due to the previous mentioned aphantasia it's tough)
