"Seawolf: The Pirate's Curse" (2005) review
Surprisingly, honestly... why did I enjoy this? I guess after a couple of major misses for me in the form of "The Kidnapping" and "Beyond Forgiveness", my expectations were appropriately low, but this one actually had some likable characters and humor, and that always manages to rope me in. I have a soft spot for fun, silly action fare like this bc of childhood shows like "The Greatest American Hero", I think.
So, the title never makes any sense... what was it supposed to mean? what curse?
First and foremost, I must say TIG is looking oh-so-very pretty and rugged here- the necklaces, the bandanas, the curly-q hair, the tank tops, the sweaty, the ARMMMSSSS 😩
Initially had absolutely no clue what was going on in the beginning; a bunch of people with weird ass outfits in the dark and I was just like please no don't let that be him in the damn fucking cape and eyepatch and o n e l e g; I was like he can't possibly have one leg the whole time, right?? 🤨
But yeah I was definitely experiencing the "dear God what did I get myself into, cheers to another awful mess" 🫡🥂
Why does half the audio sound dubbed (particularly everything that comes out of Rachel's mouth)? Also props to Rachel for being the most emotionally unaffected person ever bc her reactions were so disproportionately calm to what would happen if my bf was constantly disappearing overseas and totaled my gorgeous pink car
We're getting some very Max Parrish-type hooting and hollering up in here; a concise summary of Thorpe is that he's basically if Max had a boat and was an alcoholic instead of a drug addict
We get another hallmark of TIG's movies with a slew of incredibly cringe one-liners that elicit a physical reaction of pain from me, but for every few there was actually a genuinely funny one here and there, so I'll allow it this time...
The whole "I'm a pirate, my father was a pirate, etc." speech had me ROLLING and NOT IN THE WAY THE WRITERS INTENDED I THINK BC HUH??
When he met Helene in that random room full of paintings I was sure we were supposed to take it that the mission was smth art theft-related. but no she just has a passion for maximalist design ig.
Why does the camera get randomly shaky for no reason? Very avant-garde of them
Am I the only one who thinks that Carlos looks like a Walmart George Clooney? Someone else pls tell me I'm not insane
Always throws me off-guard but it's such fun to see TIG in an uncharacteristically light scene like the one where he's dancing in the parade and surrounded by the circle of dancers in the bar. At least he seemed like he was having a good time in this movie 🎉
Ramon and his lil book and the bar scene of Thorpe and Helene drunkenly arguing w each other and sitting on the side of the road was what really started to sell me
anD THEN HE FKIN DR A G S HER ASS 😂
Plus I cannot go without mentioning my appreciation for the way he was holding her knee 👀💕
Love how he spends the majority of this movie just dressed like someone's hot dad who works out, in his cargo shorts, tank top and goatee- oH WAIT IT'S BC HE IS A HOT DAD WHO WORKS OUT IN REAL LIFE
Love how Carlos and all the other villains are devoid of personality or motive except for ~money~, like "the Colonel" doesn't even have a name!!!
Was genuinely stressed that my boy was going to clock himself in the head when he was swinging that rope trying to scale that building
When Helene straight-up PUNCHED HER SISTER IN THE FACE like these ladies have some beef and I need to know where it stems from
This film is another great example of TIG's grossly underutilized comedic potential- a là the map reading scene
Hilarious how Carlos just shrugs like "I don't care, whatever I guess" when who he believes to be Marlena says she wants to say a dramatic goodbye to Thorpe
Ok but how did he not die?? Thank goodness but how??
Even more hilarious how the Colonel, who has had nothing but hatred and murderous intent for Thorpe throughout, is just so touched by Thorpe's being a ✨ big softie with morals ✨ that his vengeful compulsions are soothed and he's content with taking the gold like "hey bro, we're square now <3" and just fuckin walks away
Good on them for giving the treasure back to Mexico
Was legit concerned for too long there that they weren't actually going to end up together and I was screeching
DO THEY ACTUALLY USE THE SAME SHOT OF THE BOAT AT SUNSET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE AND AT THE END?? lmaooo
Honestly, I think they could have leaned even more into the humorous aspect and the treasure hunt part of the film; made it a bit more of a National Treasure/Indiana Jones sort of thing, and I definitely would have liked some more character development, esp. for the sidekicks and villains, but overall, I award this film an unexpected 6/10. I had a good time 🙃🩷

What to keep in mind while getting a keratin hair treatment done
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keratin hair treatments have gained immense popularity for their ability to transform frizzy, unruly hair into smooth, sleek locks. However, before diving into the world of keratin treatments, there are several crucial factors to consider to ensure the best results and maintain the health of your hair. Understanding Keratin Hair Treatments Before scheduling your appointment, it's essential to have a clear understanding of what a keratin hair treatment entails. Essentially, this treatment involves applying a keratin-rich solution to the hair, which is then sealed in with heat, creating a protective barrier around each strand. This process helps to smooth the hair cuticle, reducing frizz and enhancing shine. Choosing the Right Salon and Stylist Selecting the right salon and stylist is paramount to achieving the desired results with your keratin treatment. Look for reputable salons with experienced stylists who specialize in keratin treatments. Reading reviews and asking for recommendations from friends or family members can help you find a skilled professional who will deliver exceptional results. Discuss Your Expectations Communication is key when it comes to any hair treatment. Before undergoing a keratin treatment, discuss your expectations and desired outcome with your stylist. Be upfront about any concerns you may have, such as hair texture, previous chemical treatments, or potential allergies. Your stylist can tailor the treatment to suit your specific needs and address any concerns you may have. Consider Your Hair Type It's essential to consider your hair type before undergoing a keratin treatment. While keratin treatments are suitable for most hair types, they may not be suitable for everyone. If you have extremely damaged or over-processed hair, it's best to consult with your stylist to determine whether a keratin treatment is the right choice for you. Additionally, individuals with fine or thin hair may require a lighter formulation to avoid weighing down the hair. Post-Treatment Care Proper aftercare is crucial to maintaining the results of your keratin treatment. Your stylist will provide you with specific instructions on how to care for your hair following the treatment. This may include avoiding washing your hair for a certain period, using sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners, and avoiding heat styling tools. Following these guidelines will help prolong the effects of the treatment and keep your hair looking its best. Conclusion Getting a keratin hair treatment can be a game-changer for those looking to tame frizz and achieve smooth, manageable hair. By considering these important factors and following proper aftercare, you can ensure a successful keratin treatment experience and enjoy stunning results that last. FAQ Question and Answers - Q: How long does a keratin hair treatment last? - A: The longevity of a keratin hair treatment can vary depending on factors such as hair type, maintenance routine, and the specific product used. On average, a keratin treatment can last anywhere from 2 to 6 months, with some treatments offering results for up to 5 months or more with proper care. - Q: Can I color my hair before or after a keratin treatment? - A: It's generally recommended to color your hair before undergoing a keratin treatment. Coloring your hair after the treatment may cause the keratin to strip away, potentially diminishing the results. However, it's essential to consult with your stylist for personalized advice based on your hair's condition and the specific products used. - Q: Will a keratin treatment completely straighten my hair? - A: While keratin treatments can significantly reduce frizz and relax curls, they may not completely straighten your hair, especially if you have naturally curly or textured hair. The goal of a keratin treatment is to smooth the hair cuticle and enhance manageability, resulting in smoother, more manageable hair with reduced frizz. - Q: Can I swim in chlorine or saltwater after a keratin treatment? - A: It's best to avoid swimming in chlorinated or saltwater immediately after a keratin treatment, as these chemicals can strip away the keratin and compromise the results. If swimming is unavoidable, wearing a swimming cap and rinsing your hair with fresh water immediately after swimming can help minimize damage. Additionally, using a leave-in conditioner or protective spray can provide added protection against the harsh effects of chlorine and saltwater. - Q: Are keratin treatments safe for all hair types? - A: Keratin treatments are generally safe for most hair types, including straight, wavy, curly, and even chemically treated hair. However, individuals with extremely damaged or over-processed hair may need to proceed with caution, as the treatment may further weaken the hair. It's essential to consult with a professional stylist to assess your hair's condition and determine the suitability of a keratin treatment for you.Read More Read the full article

The lather should be rich and creamy. Step 3: Rinse Thoroughly Rinse with Lukewarm Water: Use lukewarm water to thoroughly rinse out the shampoo. Make sure there is no residue left in your hair. Step 4: Condition (If Necessary) Apply Conditioner: Depending on your hair type and needs, you can follow up with a suitable conditioner. Apply it mainly to the tips of your hair. Step 5: Final Rinse Rinse Again: Rinse out the conditioner with cool water. This helps to seal the hair cuticles and adds shine. Step 6: Towel Dry Pat, Don't Rub: Gently pat your hair with a towel to remove excess moisture. Avoid vigorous rubbing, as it can cause hair damage. Step 7: Styling Style as Desired: Style your hair as usual, using your favorite products or tools. Look who just woke up- is that ANTHONY KEYVAN? No, I must have been mistaken, that’s QUINCY ‘Q’ SHABAZIAN from X0,KITTY. I heard they are NINETEEN years old and stuck here just like everyone else. Even in the 20’s, he still gives off a RUNNING SHOES THROWN OVER HIS SHOULDER, CURLY BLACK HAIR, SWEET AND KIND EYES, ALWAYS WEARING TRACKSUITS OR JOGGERS, AND A FACE THAT CAN TELL HIS REACTION BEFORE HIS WORDS DO..  But here, they are working as a YOUTH COUNSELOR. They’re known to be quite PATIENT & CONFIDENT but have a tendency to be SELFISHNESS & AWKWARD on their bad days. (britt here, could i reserve michael munroe from until dawn, please.)

ROAD TO THE OSCAR MAYER WEINER AWARDS 2K19
Introduction by Curly
*SCREAMS FROM THE ROOFTOPS* ITS TIIIIIIMMMEEEE
thats right u precious little gifts from heaven it is finally time to look at the previous year’s movies, trudge through the piles of shit, and pick out the very best shiniest golden nuggets cause ITS WIENER SEASON BABBIIIEEEE
............... ok so i gotta level with y’all for a second this enthusiasm is very very forced this year.  i was taking a look at the list of nominees the other day and was like, almost shocked???  does it seem shorter than usual this year to y’all or is it just me????  where are all the cool movies????????  how in gods name did that movie where christian bale wears a dick cheney suit for two hours get nominated for so much shit???????????????
this list is extremely underwhelming, especially considering some great movies came out this year.  i know that horror movies being nominated for oscars is a long shot but like goddamn y’all are really gonna snub my girl toni collette???  did u not SEE her performance in hereditary???????  the suspiria remake was fucking phenomenal too and i thought for sure dakota johnson might get something especially since she more than redeemed herself after the 50 Shades shitshow but nope nothing for her either!  i guess cause get out got noms last year the academy has deemed it inappropriate to nominate more than one Spooky Scary movie in a decade
so out of the eight best picture noms ive only seen 2 of them, A Star is Born and Black Panther, so i dont really know how much i can say about this list right now until i start watching and reviewing them individually.  so i guess ill just touch on the two ive seen by saying that i dont really think either of them is deserving of a best picture nom (which is probably a controversial statement but WHOOPS).  theyre both good movies for sure (and ill go more in depth on my Feelings on both of them in their reviews), but theyre both very commercial, very run-of-the-mill films that cater to a mass audience but dont really do much else.  and thats not to say that films with mass appeal cant be good enough to get nominated for oscars, i just dont think that these two movies Did That.
in fact now that i mention it there are quite a few commercially successful films on the noms list this year that didnt really stand out to me enough to warrant them getting noms at all.  Avengers: Infinity War entertained the shit outta me and its gotta be the best modern superhero movie ive seen in the past few years but its by no means groundbreaking.  who the fuck knows why Christopher Robin got nominated at all cause the visual effects are nothing to write home about, and like is it just protocol now to throw oscars noms at Star Wars movies????  i heard solo: a star wars story was boring and lifeless but yeah sure just throw em a visual effects nom just for the hell of it
im betting money that Supreme Overlord Disney has a lot to do with this, cause their scope over the film and television industry has skyrocketed over the past few years.  theyre buying companies left and right so at this point its actually not much of a surprise to me that quite a few of their films have made it onto the oscars noms list.  which is uuuhhhhh a little terrifying when u think about it for too long but EEHHH FUCK IT DISNEY WORLD AND MICKEY MOUSE AMIRITE FELLOW LADS
i will say that i am very excited to check out a decent amount of the movies on the list.  barry jenkins came out with If Beale Street Could Talk right on time for awards season and ive heard nothing but great things so im really pumped and Ready To Cry.  and The Favorite, by the same director who did The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, has been on my to-watch list since it was released in theaters.  yorgos lanthimos has such an interesting and unique vision with his films, and it will be really cool to see his style applied to something like a classic period piece.  its also really awesome to see a foreign language film also be nominated for best picture, so ill have to try and check out Roma which so far has had stellar reviews.  First Reformed seems like the kind of steadily-paced drama/thriller that i just cant get enough of so that’s going on my watchlist for sure, and despite my mixed feelings on spike lee BlacKkKlansman was overall positively received so ill give it a watch.  the only two animated films i have any interest in seeing are Mirai and Into the Spiderverse (which im honestly hoping wins cause it just looks so goddamn cool), and maaaaaybe ill see Isle of Dogs.  maybe.  oh and i almost forgot about The Ballad of Buster Scruggs!!  its neat seeing a made-for-Netflix movie on the oscars list and ill never say no to a Coen Brothers movie so thats one to watch.
well i think thats about it for now!!  normally i have a lot more to say about the oscars before i even start doing the movie reviews but idk man there hasnt been much hype about this years awards ceremony.  i dont even wanna get into the whole kevin hart situation cause thats just a complete clusterfuck and a lil cringey (*cough* U DO NOT SPEAK FOR ALL OF THE GAYS ELLEN SIT UR ASS DOWN *cough*) but thats besides the point.  i have soooooo much shit to say about black panther and a star is born so get ur reading eyes ready cause those posts are gonna be REAL LONG! and otherwise it should be a good and fun and fresh time!!  if there are any movies on the noms list that i didnt mention here that u want me to see lemme know, especially if u have recommendations for the documentary nominations cause i havent heard of any of them except for RGB.
hope y’all are ready for oscars classic uncured wieners cause i know i sure am ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)  (please help me)

Star Wars: The High Republic Archetype
It seems the High Republic definitely secured its archetype when it comes to Jedi: female dual-wielder.
Tumblr media
Granted, the dual-wielding aspect has been prominent for a while: Darth Maul, Asajj Ventress, Galen Marek, Ahsoka Tano, Prong Krell, Cal Kestis being the quickest ones that come to mind.
Nonetheless, it seems like High Republic is continuing the latest Star Wars trend of putting females at the forefront and giving them some the best tools in the Star Wars toy box; Keeve Trennis, Orla Jareni, and soon Lily Tora-Asi being the most recent examples and I thought I’d share my thoughts, opinions, and predictions about them.
Keeve Trennis
Tumblr media
So far, I’ve had the most exposure with Trennis and character-wise she’s still lukewarm in my eyes. This is a bit disappointing because I’ve spent five issues with her and she continues to be outshined by her Master, Sskeer. Honestly, her best interactions have been with Sskeer and Batrol and I think therein lies the double-edge sword that is her ethos; she definitely seems to be a character that works best when she has someone to react to, while she, herself, is bland when she is the main focus – something which should not been when you are the protagonist. It really seems like her appeal is starts and stops superficially, as she has a great look (especially when you get a competent artist that can draw the natural appeal of her curly q half shave).
Tumblr media
Ultimately, there could be something there but, I still wish the High Republic comic was focusing on Sskeer and or just followed the adventures of Bell Zettifar and Loden Greatstorm.
  Orla Jareni
Tumblr media
I’ll get my first taste of Orla in issue #7 of The High Republic. When it comes to Star Wars, I’ve learned to temper my expectations and really look at the series with a critical eye (even since The Last Jedi broke me…). This will be especially true because Cavan Scott will be writing her and this is the same person that has been writing Trennis.
Tumblr media
Overall, I would almost call him a decent writer, as issue #4 has been the best piece I have read by him so far but, it has not been consistent in terms of that quality and caliber. That being she at least has a look to her to that will be striking. Haven’t seen the white lightsaber since Dave Filoni’s fan fic character, Ahsoka, obtained the color.
  Lily Tora-Asi
Tumblr media
Finally, Lily I have the most anticipation for as she is getting a manga, The Edge of Balance.
Tumblr media
I plan on doing a thorough review for this when it comes out and this, in my eyes, has been one of the smarter steps for Star Wars as a whole. The High Republic is supposed to be a multimedia breathe of fresh air in the Star Wars universe and, the fact that Lily will be helming a canon manga installment gives credence the multimedia novel vitality of this era. I hope this will give Disney/Marvel the ingenuity to continue to look at other literary mediums to make GOOD Star Wars materials; perhaps they’ll venture into light novels, next…
Tumblr media
That being said, this is probably the most on the nose the lightsabers have been in terms of being katanas (I thought Kanan’s was pushing it; boy was I wrong). The magna is going to be written by Shima Shinya and Justina Ireland, with art by Mizuki Sakakibara who was the mangaka on Tiger & Bunny. It should be noted that her first appearance will be in the IDW comic Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #3 coming out on April 7, 2021. While it seems to be just a cameo appearance as I have yet to see any dialogue coming from her, it’s still a nice detail to note; once again, giving credence to the multimedia aspect this the High Republic.

Killer Knightmares:
@avictimofthejazz an au based off a KR season 2 episode of the same name & knight of the drones vibe.
Dr. Bonnie Barstow is dutifully diligent with all of her work. She obsesses over even the most minuscule and trivial details to achieve perfection. It’s one of the many reasons she’s been added to the staff at the University of San Francisco under the supervision of the reputable David Halston.
___
It’s virtually unfathomable how much damage an ill-programmed microchip the size of a finger-nail could inflict. A twisted sense of insatiable fascination clutches a bewitching grasp over her complete attention. The tiny chip captured under the view of the highly advanced microscope was an absolute marvel with it’s bright ridges of gold along with it’s small valleys and backroads paved in a far duller shade of silver. It’s a coded maze that Bonnie can easily interpret. One infinitesimal change to the programming can mean the difference between life and death. Bonnie’s searching, seeking out the one piece of the prototype keeping it from functioning as designed. She could never and would never give the go-ahead on anything that could be considered dangerous. Even more so given the incidents that occurred because of Karr.
“There’s a call for you on line four, Bonnie.” Comes Halston’s abrupt half-careless words. Placing indelicate hands upon the slopes of her shoulders, he continues. “I’m starting to feel like your personal secretary.” It’s a gripe he made in earnest. He’s been, in no uncertain terms, telling her former associates to stop calling for months now. That Bonnie’s happier here without them hounding her. He delighted in being able to get her to refuse their offers to have her return. Of course, David hadn’t bothered to asked permission to make those direct assertions. He just did. Dr. Halson needed her. Even if Bonnie wasn’t fully aware of it, she had become vital to the success of his and Margo’s operations.
He leans over her shoulder to take a non-committal glance at her progress with the microchip. “It’s quite strange really.” He cryptically starts. The rest of the explanation failing to come as an immediate continuance.
Skeptical, Bonnie’s turquoise orbs lift towards her revered mentor while he speaks. Worry warps her usually beautiful countenance as she discovers herself clinging to his every utterance. Every easy breath hinged upon what would come next.
When her attention is fully upon him, he reveals against the shell of her ear all that he’d been biting back. “It’s a hospital near Los Angeles. A nurse Langly from Hoff Medical Center or other. She ‘claims’ it’s urgent.” There’s a deep trench of sarcasm imbued when his lips reach the word “claims”. He is well aware that she has no real family in the city. At least no one she should want to have contact with, given all the bridges he’s helped her burn. The remnants of her family were located in Boston. His eyes befall her with the great expectation that she’d pass it off.
Halston’s blasé indifference to the potentially serious situation doesn’t settle right with her. It lays like a load of swallowed bricks and mortar, in the formation of a thick, impenetrable, unmovable wall might; uncomfortably heavy. “I...” She swallows thickly, “I’d better get that.” The brunette rises from the stool she had been occupying and brushes past him. “It’s probably a crank call.” Arrives her half-hopeful utterance as she moves towards the thick plastic phone.
Sweeping a buoyant wake of chestnut barrel-rolls from her face, she lifts the receiver to her ear. “Dr. Barstow speaking. How can I help you?” She answers. Her lower-lip tucking between her teeth as she actively listens to the other voice. Twirling her fingers around the curly-q chord, she attempts to sort her thoughts. “Wait? What?” Panic bubbles upwards in her tone. Her once lax stance stiffens against the nearest wall. Her grip on the phone tightens to prevent it from slipping from her hand. “Are you sure?” A pause. “Could you repeat that name again?”
Nurse Langly patiently repeats, “Michael Long.” After a few seconds, she adds, “you’re his emergency contact.”
The warmth and color that usually could be found in Bonnie’s features drains as the gravity of the situation is rapidly dawning upon her. This was either a twisted macabre prank or it was a genuine emergency. Hardly anyone outside the Foundation knew that name or the history behind it. To invoke that name was to tug at Bonnie’s heartstrings. She has no other choice but to go investigate. If it was Michael and he was in trouble, she would never be able to forgive herself for ignoring his call.
Was it possible that he still had her number in his wallet? That Michael had never gotten around to changing his ICE list? If he hadn’t- why?
“Keep him there as long as you can.” Bonnie tersely instructs. Her heart skips a series of beats as she continues, “I’m leaving now.” With a glance down at her own delicate wrist watch, she calculates the amount of time it’ll take her to get that location. “I should be there in a few hours.” As she puts down the receiver, Bonnie contemplates ringing Devon and the Foundation. But she doesn’t. Not until she can fully ascertain if this is a joke or not.
Halston snags the frantic brunette’s wrist as she races towards the door. Throatily he demands, “where do you think you’re going? I didn’t give you permission to leave, and I know class hasn’t been dismissed. If you leave in the middle of our project, you’ll be costing the University thousands of dollars. You’re potentially destroying any hopes you had of a scholarship.” His concerns obviously rest with their work.
She wrestles her arm back from her professor’s clutches. Turquoise orbs darken when they lock upon Halston’s. Her expression is obviously deeply wounded and yet, out of respect for her mentor, she delays. “I’m sorry. I have to go...” Her words leave no uncertain airs about them. “I’ll be back when I can.” Bonnie is well aware that her defiance of direct orders could potentially cost her this incredible opportunity. Yet, she does not care! The Foundation has and always would be a primary concern for her. It didn’t matter how much time had elapsed since her employment with them, they were her family.
Bonnie is keenly aware that Halston is beckoning for her, yelling intangible words in her wake. She doesn’t dare turn back now with her feet already set on a steady course.
----
Only one thought prevailed as the brunette lunges past other students and into the parking-lot. Michael Knight could be in real trouble, and he needed her. She can’t fathom any set of circumstances that would require resurrecting a name that should have been buried. In her gut, she knows something is terribly amiss. But what?
Seven hours of the endless highway and traffic sprawled between the former partners. Every minute of that time seemed to conjure up a fresh, new fear as to what the explanation could be. Internally, she had been running herself through an extensive list of people who knew Michael Knight before he was the man she’d grown to love. Stevie was murdered. Tanya walker died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Vernon Gray and the others were in rotting in jail.
With the review of every case, came the discomforting realization that Michael and the Foundation were in the habit of making ruthless adversaries. Some of them were worse than others.
A startling thought does occur to her. Garthe and Elizabeth Knight knew about Wilton’s pet project. He knew that his father rescued Michael Long from that cold Nevada desert. However, Garthe and Goliath had taken a swan dive off a cliff. He couldn’t be pulling a crude trick like this. He had to be dead. Or was he? Worse still, could this be the work of Garthe’s vengeful mother? No. Why would they call her for help and risk the Foundation foiling another one of their wicked plots? They wouldn’t. Not even if they were aiming for the absolute annihilation of Wilton’s every dream.
Could it be the Chameleon? No. The man couldn’t have uncovered Knight’s former life. As far as the skilled impersonator knew, Michael had always existed as Knight. His previous life was a mystery. Or so Bonnie hoped it had remained an unsolvable riddle.
Every trudged up possibility seems to leave Bonnie with more unanswerable questions. She returned, time and time again, to square one. Frustration wells up inside of her veins as the brunette settles on the idea that Knight’s run into deep trouble on an investigation. This had to be a cry for help.
-----
Whilst Bonnie Barstow was not known for speeding, her foot increases the pressure on the gas pedal. The rev of the engine increases. Tires find themselves turning over at a quicker and quicker rate. All four heated rubber tires give a squeal of relief when she finally pulls up in front of the Hoff Medical Center.
With haste, she abandons her car in the parking-lot and races inside. Flagging down the first nurse she can find, she spurts out. “Please, I’m here for Michael Knight.” Entreating eyes catch the vacuous look to the nurses eyes and she repeated her words. “I’m Dr. Barstow. I got a call at the University where I work. I’m here for my - Michael Knight...” Ah, that’s where the issue dwells. She cringes before correcting herself. “Michael Long.”
That name garnered the desired knowledgeable reaction from the nursing staff. “This way.” The blonde nurse instructs taking up the lead through the sanitized hallway, armed with her clipboard.
“Can... can you tell me what happened to Michael?” Bonnie fearfully presses. She swallows down every fear collecting inside of her veins and penting-up in her chest. Having a breath catch in her throat, she manages to choke out. “Is he -- is he alright?” The concern taking up residence in the concentric confines of her eyes is genuine. Lord knows, she wouldn’t be able to cope with losing him.
The nurse keenly eyes her. The sympathy evident upon all of her etched features. “We’re looking at a mild concussion and bruised ribs. He’s lucky that nothing is broken. He must be in really good shape. Built like a tank that fella of yours is.” Any other man would have been in far worse shape.
Bonnie is too taken aback by the diagnosis to correct the woman’s assumption about her and Michael. In fact, she nearly misses the correlation as she is ushered into the room.
“He’s a real charmer. Your Officer Long is.” The nurse adds casting a wink in her direction.
Officer Long? God. It still felt anomalous to hear that in a sentence even with their extensive history together. She knew about his past. She was there the day Wilton brought Michael under his care. Until today, it had been years since that name fell upon Bonnie’s ears. Now, all of the sudden, she couldn’t seem to escape the shadow of the vastly unused moniker.
“Tried to flirt his way out of X-rays and everything.” The nurse actively points out. Her amusement with the fact is fairly obvious.
A perfectly manicured brow raises as Bonnie seats herself beside the man she knows under a very different name. “He really is. Isn’t he?” She fondly agrees. That had always been a part of the problem between them. Hadn’t it? His natural charisma instantly endeared him to almost every woman on the planet. She vividly recollects that he had tactfully employed it on more than one occasion to get what he wanted. He was kind enough to polish his act every time he attempted to use it on her.
Until the moment Bonnie cast her eyes upon Michael, it hadn’t struck her how intensely homesick she’d been for his familiar presence. Her heart gives off a series of palpable pangs against her ribcage as if it was sending Mores Code. Rescue was not bound to happen. No one could heed an unspoken SOSes. Could they? Despite her efforts to reign the unruly muscle in, it kept barreling ahead like an out-of-control freight train down the tracks.
Why was it that only Michael could arouse such chaos inside of her even when she had striven so desperately to move on? She tried to replace him with Dr. Halston and many other guys. Yet, nothing could fill that awful void that Michael left behind.
In that moment, with his large frame half swallowed by the hospital bed, she uncovers a dangerous revelation. She still loved him. As loathe to admit it as she is, those deeply-rooted feelings exist. They dwell in the undismissable realms of shadows where buried emotions and feelings are destined to remain.
Bonnie’s trembling hand gingerly brushes a dark-chestnut curl from the expanse of his warm forehead. The fluffy texture under the worn-pads of her fingers causes a familiar ache to awaken inside of her. “Michael, sweetheart....” She coos the term of endearment with a gentle insistence. She dare not startle him awake after the hell he’s obviously been put through with his injuries.
Her own lips bend into a shaky smile. “I’ve come to take you home.” His home? Her home? The Foundation? It didn’t really matter so long as he was back with people who loved and would protect him. As long as he was safe, Bonnie would never issue a complaint.

Toodles is a 25 year old gender fluid bubble dragon! He is beginner friendly and only for those who are 18+.
Appearance: Toodles is your typical western dragon. He’s got the two pretty and shimmery wings, four legs, a curly-q tail and a singular head. From the start of his snout to the tip of his tail Toodles reaches just about three feet. Everything about this little dragon is bright. His scales are a shimmery and iridescent blue that often have flashes of pink and yellow in the right lightning. Toodles’ eyes are a silvery-grey and often sparkle with glee. His snout ends in a beak like hook and he has sharp silver teeth that sparkle almost like he’s in a tooth whitening commercial when he grins - which is fairly often. While he has no true spikes or horns, he has ridges along his eyebrow and jawline. His scales are large and don’t lay down flat along his body but instead protrude along the bends in his figure to give an illusion of size and sharpness.
Tumblr media
Personality: Toodles is a pure joy to be around. He is full of life and love and sparkles, for lack of better words in the English language. He laughs a lot and finds joy in everything that happens from the small flowers that bloom to the sound of the rain. He loves to snuggle and likes to curl around my shoulders while I’m working on the computer, making comments about what work I’m doing or videos I watch. A patent Toodles trait is his curly tail not unlike a chameleon’s. He keeps it curled up close to his body except when flying or when steadying himself, such as wrapped around my upper arm. He also loves to hang upside down not unlike a bat.
Companionship: Toodles is looking for companionship to meet more people and find forever friendships! Someone who is 18+ is preferred but the bigger family the better! Toodles is okay with a companion who is new to spirit work, but he warns he’s not a good teacher, so you gotta be ready to put in a lot of leg work and not rely on him - though he’ll help where he can.
You can find Toodles' full bio on our website! If you are interested in getting to know Toodles better, feel free to send an ask or talk to him in our discord! Interested in applying for Toodles? Here’s how to write a good app! You can apply here or here! New here? Here’s out FAQ, shop info, mod info, and our reviews! Not feelin’ Toodles? Here are our other spirits currently up for adoption! Got further questions? Shoot us an ask!

I saw “The Protege.”
Tumblr media
Michael Keaton is the only reason I saw The Protege.
I don’t like violent movies.  Hate them, actually.  I don’t find violence entertaining, and I don’t understand people who are entertained by it. I don’t get any kind of vicarious release from watching people doing godawful physical things to each other.  I’m not against these movies. I just choose to avoid them, the same way I avoid watching football, reality TV shows, and ballet.
I read all the spoilers about The Protege, as well as a few reviews, so I pretty much knew what I was in for.  Except reviewers rarely mention the level of blood and bone-snapping in movies anymore.  Ever since CG became so incredibly realistic, films, and TV, have taken advantage of the tech to show horrible things in detail.  Children have grown up watching The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead.  Why would reviewers mention something that even little kids are used to?
So I wasn’t prepared for the sights and sounds of people having nightmarish (to me) things done to them.  A couple happened so suddenly I wasn’t able to close my eyes in time.  I kept them closed, but the Foley artist’s sounds were very effective in getting across what was happening.  I felt queasy a couple times from the audio alone.
The plot was rife with tropes, which is fine, because it’s a thriller.
Being Hapa, it was great to see a Hapa woman as the MC.  I loved her bookshop and her kitty.  Keaton’s character walking in was like a Villy fanfic where Modern V.A. comes into Milly Farrier’s bookshop.  Anna banters with him the way I’d love to write Milly bantering with V.A.
How could I not think of V.A.?  Remember that Dumbo promo poster, with Vandevere in a blue suit he never wears in the movie?
Tumblr media
Welp, he wears it in this movie.
Tumblr media
At dinner he wears an ascot.  This is fanfiction Modern V.A., I swear.
Now that I think of it, he does have a gray suit.  Also like V.A.
It was really annoying when the Villy-inspiring moments were interrupted with heads being blown apart and bashed in, arms being snapped, stabbings and shootings.  I impatiently munched on Raisinets while I waited for the next Anna-Rembrandt scene.
My patience paid off.  Not only was there Hot Banter While Threatening to Kill Each Other Over Dinner . . .
Tumblr media
 . . . there’s THAT scene.
SPOILERS AFTER THIS
Rembrandt and Anna are trying to kill each other, they keep grabbing each other and looking hornily at each other, and Anna accidentally turns on a stereo which plays hot, horny music. They’re on a glass table, Rembrandt flips them, and they fall, crashing through the table and onto the floor, Anna on top of Rembrandt.  He rolls them over, and, while on top, he growls, “You’re going to have to make up your mind.  Either kill me or fuck me.”
Immediately the scene goes to a bed, with shirtless Rembrandt rolling off Anna, and they lay next to each other, huffing from the exertion of what must have been intense fucking.
SHIRTLESS MICHAEL KEATON, Y’ALL
But this is where I get pissed off.  Before this there’s been explict gore and blood, tons of it.
But they couldn’t do an explicit, or damn near explict, scene of Keaton humping??  They couldn't show Anna arching her back and crying out as Keaton groans and pumps like mad??  What the actual not-explicit fuck??
I don’t reread my own fics, but now I need to reread As Long As You Love Me So, because I need a V.A.-and-Milly-fucking fix.
Also, there was a continuity glitch.  The scene starts off with the sheet down as far as Rembrandt’s waist, or close enough.  It then switches to Anna talking.  When it switches back to Rembrandt, the sheet’s higher.  But still can see that lovely, curly gray chest hair that would make Milly, and me, swoon and pet him.
To be honest, I felt no chemistry from Anna/Maggie Q toward Rembrandt/Keaton.  She said the lines, but her face just looked kind of . . . not really feeling it.  I think, like Milly in Dumbo, Anna is meant to be so traumatized from her really godawful childhood that she can’t express emotions well.  But, even as I type this, I realize that’s not true.  Samuel L. Jackson plays a man who saved her as a little girl and was her surrogate father.  You can see Anna loves him deeply.  But I got no real lust from her for Rembrandt.
As for Keaton, he did better.  But it wasn’t hot, panting lust.  It was like those acting classes when you’re trying to do a scene with a partner who’s just not as committed as you are.  He was, but Maggie Q., not so much.  Now that I think about it, I’ve never really seen Keaton do hot, horny lust.  With the exception of Beetlejuice. (but there are lot of his films I haven’t seen yet)
There’s an air of pining around Rembrandt for the rest of the movie.  When he and Anna have their final face-off, he’s trying to convince her that there can be more, for both of them.  But, of course, there can’t be a Happy Ending.  One has to kill the other.  It’s Anna who walks out alive.  I was spared seeing Rembrandt killed; it happens off-screen.
I wanted the last scene to be Rembrandt and Anna in their bookshop, him petting the shop kitty while she sells a rare First Edition.  But that’s a fanfic ending.
If you’re a Keaton fan and don’t mind gore and a not-challenging plot, the movie’s worth it for Keaton.  But just Keaton.  As this review says:
Review: As soon as Michael Keaton shows up, he elevates 'The Protégé'
I noticed that Keaton’s face is starting to show his age.  But.  At 70 (as of Sept. 5) he looks like 60.  And he moves like 40.  Whatever, he’s still hot as hell.

Extra crap about the movie that has nothing to do with Keaton:
The Evil Villain Rembrandt works for who Anna’s trying to kill lives on his own island in Vietnam.  Yes, the Evilest of Evil has an Evil Island, because all Evilest of Evils have one.
Naturally, the island is packed end to end with security forces.  They’re in full SWAT gear, have flocks of drones, tanks, helicopters, dogs, probably some Lovecraftian monster swimming its perimeters.  Because of course you have to convince the audience that No One Can Breach This Impenetrable Fortress It’s Impossible Don’t Even Try It It’s A Waste Of Your Time And Ours.
And of course Anna does.  By chopping her hair super-short and impersonating a waitress.
Because I guess this guy’s Evil Empire Staff didn’t do a background check?  I had to fucking pee in a cup and have my background scoured when I applied at a frickin’ jewelry store, but these guys, who are protecting a man tons of people want to murder, didn’t make absolutely goddamn sure any and all references and work histories were sound?  I guess Anna and Samuel L. Jackson mocked up a false identity so iron-clad the Evil Empire HR looked at her resume, shrugged, and put it in the Probably Not An Assassin pile.
Call me ruthless, but thrillers do not know how to wipe out an Evil Empire On An Evil Villain Island.
Two words:
Napalm. Sarin gas.
OK, that’s three words.
Now this shit is so truly evil that no one uses these as weapons in movies.  Hitler didn’t even use gas, because, putrid heinous scum that he was, even he was traumatized by what mustard gas did in the trenches in WWI.
And people in Vietnam know exactly how indescribably abhorrent Napalm is.  So do those of us who grew up watching the results of it on the 6 o’clock news.
Plus, in a movie, those weapons are too effective, and aren’t good visually.  You can’t shoot or stab Napalm or gas.  You can’t blow them up or break their necks. In a movie thriller you want bullets blasting everywhere at 100,000 miles per hour, gouging holes in walls, ceilings, and floors.  You want fighters in a clinch, punching, spinning, flipping, until the final Kill Move.
This is why thrillers bore me, because I’m not interested in any of that stuff.

Decade in Review.
2010.
One of the newest members in my group of friends began spreading lies about me, saying that I had been bitching about everyone behind their back. I hadn’t obviously, but they believed her, and in the space of a day, I had lost all of the friends I had made in my five years during high school. My first lesson of the decade: if I have something to say to someone, just say it!
I left high school, with one friend, whom I had had since primary school. I passed all of my GCSEs, and I began sixth form. I was part of the first year to attend this sixth form, and it was exciting to help work out the kinks, and I got to study two different types of English (language and literature), photography and sociology.
After my brothers’ girlfriend had suffered a miscarriage the previous year, she got pregnant again, and my twin nieces (Ellie and Layla) were born; they were premature, but oh so perfect, and changed my life, honestly.
I went to North Carolina, and spent my sixteenth birthday there, where I met my best online friend. I had an amazing time, and again, it was an experience that changed my life forever.
I stopped speaking to my dad, for many reasons; that’s such a long story, that now’s not the time.
My mum’s boyfriend moved in, and began a seven year story of abuse.
2011.
I met four of my best friends; they changed me so much for the better. WE shared some good memories, some of which I still cry reminiscing on to this day.
After getting scolded at sixth form, I actually began putting some effort into my A Levels, shocking my teachers at what I was capable of!
The friend I visited in America came to visit me in England for three weeks, though as none of us could drive, it was not half as exciting and action packed as my time in North Carolina! Sorry about that!
One of my best friends that turned my back on me in the previous year? I began speaking to her again, she is still my best friend to this day, and we began opening up about our struggles with mental health a lot more.
I began bulking my CV out a lot more, between work experience at my old high school, and volunteering at a charity shop and an art gallery, I barely had any time for myself!
I also began running a creative writing club at sixth form, which formed the basis of them beginning the creative writing A Level! One of my proudest achievements.
My mums dachshund got pregnant, and we kept one of them - my little dachshund/Jack Russell cross, Molly!
2012
My hard work paid off - I was the only one in my group of friends to get offers from all five universities I applied for! My first choice was University of Lincoln, and I moved 150 miles away from everyone I knew to study English.
I became a really shitty person. With the psychological abuse my mums boyfriend put me through, that friend who came to visit me, and I went to visit? I treated her awfully. I pushed her away on purpose, I hurt her so bad. I think about it every day, and every day I regret it.
I joined the Anime Society, and met a lot of great, fucked up people. I met people on my course. I met a lot of people, most I don't speak to anymore, but given half the chance, I'd welcome them back in my life with open arms.
I began drinking too much, like I don't remember much of my first year, I tried passing this toxic behaviour off as a personality trait. How wrong was I.
2013
A long story, but I got in my first 'relationship that wasn't a relationship', and he broke up with me at the beginning of the summer as he was finishing university, and I was only just beginning, and we lived on other sides of the country.
Upon reflection on things I ultimately regret, I made the decision to begin speaking to my dad again. He ultimately got married, in a wedding I was the only family member to not be invited.
I moved in with four gay people, and experienced the best parties I've ever been too, honestly. Though as housemates, they were insanely flawed.
I got into my first real relationship! He was psychologically abusive, took all of my money, nearly got me kicked out of university, made me lose all my friends, and... What a fella.
He raped me, five days before Christmas. I still suffer with trauma from this, but I'm not ashamed of it anymore.
2014
I attempted suicide. I broke my families heart and I promised my Nanny Gate that I would never hurt myself again.
I broke up with my boyfriend! To which my housemates took me out for drinks and a celebratory meal. They had no idea what had happened to me, but they knew he was bad news.
My dad forced my mum to sell my childhood home, forcing me, my mum and our abuser to move into a tiny two bedroom house, with seven dogs.
Another niece, Imogen, was born!
As well as drinking too much, I began trying drugs, trying to pass it off as a quirky part of my personality.
That friend that I visited in America, and she visited me in England? I began speaking to her again. Although we don't speak much, I could talk to her every day if I could. I'm so thankful that even if she didn't forgive me for everything I did to her, she put it behind her to rekindle our friendship.
I moved in with two of my best friends! Though by the end of the year, we would hate one of them. This happened all the places I lived during university.
I began dating a man I thought I would marry.
(Also, fun fact, I went on holiday to Walton-on-the-Naze that year, where I stayed at the same part of the caravan park @onetruejonsey lived with his girlfriend at the time, I got drunk, and got lost, and tried to get into his caravan! If that's not fate...)
2015
I got my degree without much effort, and I realised I've never really tried at anything. My dad and my boyfriend didn't attend my graduation, but mum and I had a blast.
For so many reasons, I fell out of love with my boyfriend, though he manipulated me into staying with him for almost a full extra year.
I got my first job as a Healthcare Assistant! But I quit as I saw too many residents being treated badly, and no manager or supervisor was interested in hearing my concerns. I done work experience at my old sixth form, trying to find an age group I'd like to teach, turns out older kids weren't that. But I did get a Christmas Temp job at EE.
2016
My boyfriend broke up with me, so angry that I had tried to break up with him and he had not let me, I got back with him just to break up with him. I am a pretty little bitch, honestly.
I went to Kenya with my mum, so we could complete our bucket list item of seeing giraffes and elephants in the wild. It was incredible, and made me reevaluate how lucky I am.
I got a job at B&Q, though my supervisors were awful, I made some good friends with other members of staff.
I planned to take my life at the end of April.
My Granddad Gate got there first, losing his battle to COPD just three days before I had planned to die. Seeing my Nanny Gate and mum, I decided to not go through with it.
While window shopping on Plenty of Fish, I met @onetruejonsey.
One of my friends from sixth form got me into trying harder drugs. I decided to stop speaking to her, I sometimes still get an angry text to this day.
Me, mum and our abuser got evicted from our house.
2017
@onetruejonsey's mum, knowing the situation with my abuse at home, offered for me to move in with them. We went to London for four days, and decided I should move in by the end of January, six months into dating.
I got a job with him and his mum at McDonalds, we were everyone's parents, and it was amazing.
I was discriminated against because of my mental health, and I gave a days notice that I was quitting. Someone else put in a formal complaint about how they had treated me, which made me feel a lot better about everything.
My Nanny Gate was hospitalised over Christmas, where she stopped speaking, eating, and drinking. Her three favourite things.
2018
@onetruejonsey and I experienced the worst argument I've ever had in a relationship; one of which I still think back to, to try and figure out what happened, and learn from.
My poor mum went off work sick for a broken foot and got evicted from her bungalow in the same month, meaning she had to go back to our abuser.
My Nanny Gate died, but my mum, brother and I were all with her when she passed.
This meant my mum had to pack my Nanny Gate's belongings as well as her own bungalow, the deadline for each was only a couple of days from each other. I moved back in with her for a month to help with this.
I was unemployed for five months, and after working so hard to get out of my overdraft during my time at McDonalds, I ended up with £5 in my bank.
With my Nanny Gate not around to say anything anymore, I began self-harming again. Though @onetruejonsey then made me promise to stop it, and I hate breaking my promises.
I got a job as a Housekeeper at Premier Inn, after my second interview. It was only a Summer job, and they tried so hard to fire me, but never found the grounds. After a teaching job fell through, I got my act together and became one of the best housekeepers at the site.
My fourth, and final niece, little Millie was born. With her ginger curly hair, my heart could have burst with love.
@onetruejonsey and I have a tradition to go to the zoo for my birthday, with my mum and nieces. Surrounded by them and giraffes, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! I cried so much, and so many people congratulated us. Even the guy who yelled "HAS SHE SAID YES YET" which makes me laugh everytime!
2019.
@onetruejonsey and I learnt to drive, and we brought our little car, Moss. We have plans to update him to a better car ASAP, but at the moment, I'm so in love with him that I can't bare the thought of getting rid of him!
After nearly getting our own flat, I can't imagine life without a dog. We decided to stay put with his parents, and save as much money as we can to buy a house. A house we will raise our children in one day, dog and bearded dragon included!
2018 was such a shit year, it took up until Summer this year to recover fully from it. When we decided to start planning our wedding. Of which we have booked 90% of everything.
I went on my twenty-first teaching interview, and after that rejection, I decided the universe was sending me a sign. I had not enjoyed any of my previous work experience, and I didn't enjoy working with the kids during interviews. I made a conscious decision that I would not pursue that anymore.
I was discriminated against at Premier Inn when I went into crisis with my menal health, the same day our hotel manager was visiting with an apprenticeship tutor. I spoke to her, and she offered me a job at a different site, where I would do housekeeping and reception, and an apprenticeship, and get a pay rise, AND one day becoming assistant hotel manager, but maybe at a different site.
My decade did not go as planned. I hoped to be teaching by now, but the universe has had different plans for me. A lot of bad stuff has happened to me, but that's karma I suppose. While at university, I spoke to a good friend, and we talked about how bullshit dream jobs were, and I made a promise to myself that I wanted to grow up to be unapologetically happy. So in this decade, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to work whatever job will pay me that I enjoy, I will come home to a fiance who loves me and I love him, we will have our wedding, we will buy our house together and drive in whatever car we can get, I don't care what it cost or how new it is, we will have our Bassett Hound and whatever little pets we want, and we will one day have children together. And that child will be so loved, I will move mountains for them to never experience pain and hurt of the likes we have experienced.

Hello there. I'm gonna be going to Megacon, which is little less than two months away, and I plan to cosplay as Cure Star from Star Twinkle Precure. The problem is the wig. I'm able to find pink wigs online that are cheap enough for me to buy, but none of them match the length I'm looking for since the pigtails of said character are really long and go to the waist. Can you please help me out?
Hello there!
Tumblr media
I don’t know what your budget is, but you will be unlikely to find a wig with pigtails for under ~$20USD, regardless of length. Here’s a couple of different options, though I haven’t purchased these so I can’t speak to the quality. Always look at reviews when possible!
While I can’t do all of your shopping for you, I can take this as an opportunity for advice on shopping for and wearing this type of wig generally, however.
Shopping:
This wig would likely be best as a clip-in ponytail wig. The shape of the pigtails lends itself well to the shape of a clip, and the clips will help make the wig easier to maintain and to wear. While clips are a bit heavy, you can mitigate the weight by clipping through the wig into your own hair to get a better hold, and you can remove the clips at the con if the wig becomes too heavy to wear and your head needs a break.
I would suggest shopping as early as possible when looking for wigs on a budget, since oftentimes, you will be purchasing from overseas. This can create long shipping times, especially when going with the cheaper or free shipping options. Two months should be okay for you, depending on where you live and how long it usually takes items to arrive from East Asia.
Whether the wig is curly or straight doesn’t matter for something like this as long as you are able to straighten it. If the wig isn’t heat-resistant, test hot water straightening or a flatiron at the lowest setting on a small, inconspicuous piece first – more likely than not, you will still be able to straighten it, just at a lower heat. This can create more options for you. Also, while most curly wigs are measured with the fiber stretched out, some are not, and you may still be able to gain a tiny bit of length by straightening it.
As to length, I would honestly recommend getting a somewhat shorter wig, if possible. Still a long wig, but if you can find one that isn’t ridiculously anime length, you will have a MUCH easier time wearing it. It won’t be as heavy, and detangling won’t be as much of a nightmare.
If you are doing the large ornaments at the bottom of the ponytails, do a bit of comparison shopping – would it be better for you to buy two wigs and harvest the wefts, or buy from a seller that sells matching wefts? You may be able to find some cheaper sellers that will sell you a base wig and the pony clips separately, and buying a base and three clips (one to harvest from) may end up being cheaper than buying two wigs or buying separate wefts.
For styling and wearing:
Pre-treat the wig with something to prevent tangles. I like silicone spray, though I’ve also heard of people using anti-static spray. This won’t stop tangles entirely, but will help you get them out easier once they happen.
For ponytails of this length, I would recommend a net cover for the wig so that they don’t become too tangled or fall out of shape as you are wearing. You can buy them from Assist.
Bring a wide-tooth comb to take care of tangles as they happen, rather than later.
I would make the large ornaments at the ends detachable, if possible, for easier storage and wear. This way, you can take them off if the wig gets too heavy or if they get in the way.
I hope that helps! Good luck :]
