"What do you think of this, baby?" you said, turning the bridal magazine around to show your fiancé.
"I think it looks beautiful! I like the style," San responded, barely glancing at the photo.
He was more focused on you, more importantly, how you were straddling his waist in the bed as you frantically flipped through pages.
"Come on! You already said that about that last one I showed you," you huffed in frustration.
"Well, I'm sorry, Y/N. I just don't see why you're dead set on finding a dress so soon," San remarked.
He had a point, whether you admitted it or not. He proposed to you on Valentine's Day, and you still hadn't made a decision on the date you'd tie the knot.
"It's not just about finding a dress. It's about finding the dress," you began.
"Many girls dream about their wedding day, and I'm one of them."
You sighed dreamily, looking at a ballgown style that caught your interest. Seeing the expensive price, you quickly moved onto the next page.
"Well… if it means anything, I think you would look really sexy in a mermaid gown," San chuckled.
"One that accentuates your body really nicely."
His voice went down to a whisper, and he soon sat up in the bed. Soft kisses were placed from your shoulder to your neck.
"Sannie… don't start," you warned.
"What? I can't imagine what my gorgeous bride will look like on our wedding day?" His hands trailed down your hips, then down your legs.
"As much as I would like to spend the resting of the morning making sweet music with you, I need to take a shower," you laughed, getting up to go to the bathroom.
"Maybe I could j-" San began before you stopped him mid sentence.
"Don’t even think about it, Choi."
Tumblr media
After the long shower, you got dressed in a crop top and leggings since you were about to do your daily yoga routine.
San was in the kitchen making breakfast for the both of you (an omelet for him and a pastry for you). He topped it all off with some fresh fruit on your plate and green tea.
"My baby is back from the shower!" San beamed.
"And my baby made me breakfast," You gave him a kiss before grabbing the plate off the counter.
He sat beside you and began to feed you the pieces of fruit from your plate. You made it a point to purposely suck on his finger after you finished one bite.
"Mmm… so delicious," you moaned out.
"You're playing with fire, princess," San whispered.
"Let's hope you don't get burned then," you teased, going to take a bite out of your pastry.
The rest of the time was spent completely devouring the meal your fiancé prepared, but you were still thinking about the conversation earlier.
You and San had arguments like any other couple, though you didn't want to call what happened earlier with the dress an "argument", but it did bother you that a proper date for the nuptials wasn't set.
"San? About the dress…" you were about to tell him that it was fine that he wasn't as enthusiastic about it as you were, but was stopped by him speaking.
"Really, Y/N? We're still on about that damn dress?" San laughed, wanting not to focus on it.
"What? No, I was going to say that it was cool that you didn't see it as much of a priority right now," you said.
"Almost like you don't see the wedding being a priority."
You muttered that last part, not thinking he would hear it. You didn't actually mean this, but you were so frustrated at his seemingly lack of commitment towards preparations that you needed to get it out.
"Excuse me?" San said, dropping his fork on the counter.
"Did you just say that I don't think this wedding is a priority?"
"It certainly feels like it. Anytime I bring up wedding stuff, you clam up and avoid the conversation," you remarked, folding your arms.
"Because I thought it would be a compromise. It's like you've already made decisions on the wedding and just want me to go along with them," San gets up from the stool and walks towards the door.
"Where are you going?" you said, going towards him.
"I'm going to hang out with the boys," he responded nonchalantly.
"Of course you are," you muttered.
San didn't even waste his breath, just shutting the door on his way out. You sighed, going back to clean the dishes that were left.
Once finished, you got your yoga mat from the side of the couch and rolled it onto the floor. Hoping to clear your mind for a few hours, you turned your meditation music on, wanting to block out the rest of the world.
Tumblr media
Hours had passed, and you had slipped out of your workout attire into something more comfortable. You grabbed your robe from the bathroom closet and put it on, tying the cloth belt around your waist.
San was scrolling through his phone on the bed. He had come home from his afternoon with the guys an hour ago, not speaking a word to you.
The tension was eating you up inside, so you walked towards the bed and made your way next to him.
"Hey," you greeted nervously.
"Hi," San said, turning to the side to look at you.
"So… um… I'm sorry about what I said earlier," you started.
"I shouldn't have said you didn't see the wedding as a priority. I just… want everything to be perfect."
You started fiddling with your fingers and took a deep breath before continuing on.
"My parents… didn't have the happiest of marriages. The loud arguments, the cheating, having to witness all of that was just - " your voice began to crack, and that's when San sat up from the bed and brought you into an embrace.
"It's okay, baby," he soothed.
"My mom deserved a better partner, a better relationship as a whole, and I try to compensate for that with our relationship," you finished.
"I know how much this wedding means to you, but you're going to burn yourself out if you keep pushing yourself to such high standards," San explained.
"You're an amazing woman, and you've been through so much to be able to become the woman I chose to spend the rest of my life with."
"San, I appreciate your words, but sometimes I feel like I can become too much for you. Almost as if I have to try and prove how much I love you to keep you satisfied," you revealed.
"Y/N… never in the entirety of our relationship have I not been satisfied or happy," he assured.
"You've made me a better man, and making a relationship work is a joint effort."
"Your feelings are valid, but if you ever feel that there is some form of miscommunication, you can always come to me," San said, bringing your hands in his and pressing a kiss on them.
"I love you, Y/N. I shouldn't have spoken to you like that earlier," San apologized.
"I have too much respect for you and our relationship to let it go because of our feelings at that moment."
You began to cry tears of happiness, feeling all the love and adoration the man in front of you had for yourself. He brought his thumb up to wipe them away.
"Perfect is boring, my love. Just being with you is enough," San smiled lovingly, showing his signature dimples.
"Choi San, you're my everything," you responded, bringing your hands up to hold his face.
You both lean in close and kiss each other with such palpable affection. San brought his hands down to your waist, pressing his hands firmly against your hips.
"I can't help myself whenever I'm around you, Y/N," San whispered.
"You're so gorgeous, and I can't wait until you're mine forever."
Butterflies formed in your stomach, both from his words and the way he was kissing down your neck. His hands wandered your body some more, grabbing your butt and carefully placing you against the pillows.
San repositioned himself, straddling your body for a moment before becoming eye level with the belt on your robe.
"What is my princess hiding underneath here, huh?" San teased.
San bit his lip, looking at your bashful demeanor, making it his mission to find out what was underneath. He untied the robe hastily, soon looking at the purple lace lingerie on your body.
"Surprise," you whispered out, watching his eyes widen before an all too familiar grin appeared.
"Oh, baby… you don't know what you've gotten yourself into," San said, grazing his hand over your underwear.
His thumb rubbed your sweet spot, causing you to let out soft whimpers until he slid the lace garment to the side. San kissed your slit before diving his tongue inside.
"Fuck! Sannie, that feels so good!" You moaned.
San giggled as a response, continuing to lap you up like his life depended on it. He hummed against your lips, licking your juices and keeping his hands firm on your thigh.
You ran your fingers through his hair and leaned your head back in pleasure.
"I must be doing an amazing job if you're making those sounds, baby," San smiled, taking in your blissed out appearance.
"Y-You could s-say that," you managed to moan out as he continued working wonders with his tongue.
San brought his lips to your bundle of nerves, taking his time to suck it and watch you unravel for him.
"You're about to come, baby? Let it out all for me," San said softly.
"Oh shit! I'm so close!" You screamed out before your orgasm surged through your entire body, causing you to shake underneath your fiancé.
As you came down from your daze, San tapped your shoulder for you to switch positions with him so that you were the one on top this time.
"As much as I would love for you to return the favor, Y/N, I just want to be inside of you," San moaned, gesturing to the noticeable bulge in his sweatpants.
You obliged, pulling down his sweatpants and underwear. His member sprung up and pressed a kiss to the tip before sliding your underwear down.
You guided your slit over his and slid down on him, tilting your head back once you feel him inside of you. San grabbed hold of your hips, watching as you bounced on top of him.
"Yes! Right there!" You moaned.
"Feels so good, baby! Ride it out!" San grunted, letting you control the pace.
He placed his hands behind you, unhooking your bra, letting it fall to the floor.
"I can never get tired of these," San said, fondling your chest.
"Oh yeah? Then how about this?" You stopped grinding on him and moved to jerk his member.
You licked up and down his shaft, taking the tip into your mouth and savoring all of your juices. San thought he'd burst at the sight, but that's when you caught him by surprise.
Taking a hold of his member, you slid it in between your chest and squeezed them snugly together. Your fiancé's eyes began to roll back in pleasure.
"Mmm… they're so soft and pretty. Just like that!" San groaned.
He was leaking from the tip, and you knew he was about to come, so you increased the speed of strokes, paired with the stimulation from your cleavage.
"Y/N, I'm about to come!" San gasped out until the clear liquid oozed out, landing on your chest.
You made a show of sticking your tongue out and lapping up whatever you could reach.
"Did you like that, baby?" You smiled, moving to sit up on your knees.
"I think you know the answer to that," San said, running his fingers through his hair and catching his breath.
You got up and grabbed a washcloth to wipe yourself off as he put the rest of his clothes on. When you returned to the bed, San snuggled up with you and kissed your forehead.
"September 16th." He said abruptly.
"Huh?" You asked.
"That's the date I want to make you mine," he reached out to caress your cheek.
Your eyes lit up with excitement as you couldn't stop picturing what the day would look like.
"Guess I'll have to continue on with finding the dress," you laughed.
"And the flowers, the venue, the cake, the time…" San said, counting his fingers to prove his point.
"You'll be helping me every step of the way, San," you kissed him, getting up once more to go into the shower.
You throw a glance back at San, giggling at his confused expression.
"What?" San questioned.
"Well, aren't you coming in?"

9 books that are my favourites
tagged by @arenee1999 a few days ago, thank you <3 as i was writing this list in my head last night, i thought - this could be read as a list of my favourite fandoms and television/film adaptations, but hey ho. i did a degree in english lit or something.
harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban by JKR - no book has been so important to my life and i also just think it's a really fun mystery and i still like it, so - it's here, it's staying.
carry on by rainbow rowell - but of course. this one was quite important too.
pride and prejudice by jane austen - i don't think this has ever made a fav book list before, i think because i thought it was too basic, but damnit - this book is great, it influences the way i write enemies to lovers, i love the 1995 adaptation and all of austen's novels are bangers except mansfield park, which i keep trying to like but it sucks.
the once and future king by TH white - all my life i loved the movie 'camelot' and it's depiction of arthur. i only learned as an adult that it was TH white's gentle, earnest, thwarted arthur that they'd used <3 he's perfect. 'ill-made knight' is the best of the series, IMO
lieutenant hornblower by cs forester - i haven't read the books in ages, so maybe it's time for a re-read. the ioan grufford adaptation is great, i wish they'd do the later/earlier books too! BUT this early (in hornblower's life) book is my fav - the only one told from bush's POV as he struggles with how he loves hornblower but worries the guy wants to do a mutiny (which he totally does)
the folk of the air by holly black - a new entrant even though i've loved it for years, but i've decided i don't just think it's really good, it's so good that it's one of my favs. maybe the best of the trilogy is the middle book, 'wicked king' where jude is in power with limited support and they fall in love (or do they???). how the king of elfham learned to hate stories is also brilliant.
'the emperor mage' by tamora pierce. i've been waiting my whole life for the numair book and it was terrible, but her first three trilogies are my absolute crack, and this is the best book of those series IMO. the bit where numair tries to hit the emperor for implying he loves his student daine (which he does) while she's listening but disguised as a bird - and then he fakes his own death, and daine goes crazy... that bit has stayed with me for decades, i love it so much.
'night watch' by terry pratchett. i still feel late to properly loving pterry, but i've always liked this one and now i love it - vimes is my guy, i love the time travel, that he trains himself, that he resists both passively and when required actively. v good. my next fav is probably ... 'monstrous regiment', which i think is a bit more of a weird choice (unlike this one which is mega popular and also about all the things i like), but it just does everything right! oh, 'and 'going postal'.
'the princess bride' by s morgenstern william goldman. i haven't read this for ages either so maybe it shouldn't make the list, but i expect it's still pretty great. a mindfuck for a young child who has only seen the film and thinks all of the frame narrative must therefore be real... also, the film is like one of the best films ever and i have seen that super recently. if you haven't seen the home movie, do yourself a favour and watch it because it's a great way to enjoy the movie a-new.
no idea where this meme has been already. so just saying hello to some folks and if you'd like to do this meme and haven't done it already, please do! @giishu @orange-peony @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @carryonvisinata @alleycat0306 @fight-surrender @cows4247 @messofthejess @mysterioussheep

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💗
MY FIVE FAVORITE???? That's like asking me to choose my 5 favorite children, although I only have 2, so that's fairly easy. Most days.
Okay, I'll give it a try.
Sowing Seeds of Trust is my favorite MC because I love the character development of Emma, the relationship development between her and Killian, and the role the minor characters have in the story. Plus, I tried writing about some very tough subjects - homelessness and unplanned pregnancy. I also liked the way I interwove the Christian community into the story.
Rescuing the Princess. Written as a gift for CS Secret Santa 2021, I tackled a fairy tale mash-up of Sleeping Beauty, Tangled, Beauty and the Beast and The Princess Bride and I have to admit, I'm pretty darn proud of how it turned out!
Lonely No More - an OS based on Christina Perri's EPIC music video featuring our favorite Irishman! I shouldn't say I enjoyed writing about two very lonely people who met each other because of FedEx deliveries, but their developing relationship and how they mended each other's lonely hearts just makes my own heart melt. This is probably my favorite version of CS I've ever written.
Faultline - my first contribution to the CS Movie Marathon collection, inspired by the movie San Andreas. I had so much fun working in all the tension and suspense of Emma, Killian and Liam helping each other make it out of San Francisco after an earthquake. The pic sets for all three chapters were also a lot of fun to make, and this story includes my favorite proposal I've written so far.
Devastation and Healing. This is my first long MC and included research into Physical and Occupational Therapy, along with medical and legal topics I'm pretty clueless about. I adored writing the characters of Marco and August, who are Emma's adopted father and brother. The way Killian went from a physically and emotionally broken man to the love of Emma's life still brings tears to my eyes. I was also very excited about the response I got when I included an unexpected event involving Milah.
Sorry, but I have to include some honorable mentions, because now that my personal library of works is up to 40 (with a few collaborations in there) I feel like only choosing 5 is nearly impossible!
For the Sake of Henry - again tackling a very difficult subject, this time of child abuse and neglect.
Snowstorm Confessions - bed sharing and no power during a blizzard - what's not to love?
Lunch is on Me - of all of my stories, this one probably tugs at my heartstrings the most.
Tagging: @kmomof4 @snowbellewells @whimsicallyenchantedrose @cs-rylie @elizabeethan
Thanks for the ask @kazoosandfannypacks!

For CS Harry quoting The Princess Bride and saying to Voldemort. “My name is Inigo Montoya you killed my father. Prepare to die.” Tom being very confused, Hadrian finding it hilarious.
And then Riddle, after doing some rapid research, turns it around by saying "as you wish" constantly and Hadrian fucking combusts.
Riddle is very smug.

Thank you so much for opening this up and for the list, Suzannah! :) Below are my asks~~
5. What is your ultimate favourite book?
11. Favourite authors? (Feel free to include/emphasize the underrated/non pop ones ;)
31. Is there a particular album/movie/TV show that really matched the vibes of a book you read? Which ones?
39. Favourite book to movie/TV show adaptation? (feel free to throw in a few - old+new are appreciated ;)
42. If you could change the ending of any one book, which book would you pick and why?
58. A book that emotionally wrecked you?
Thank you so much!
5. My favourite book of all time is The Lord of the Rings. Not a single misplaced word. The greatest artistic achievement of the 20th century, bar none. Demonstrates magnificent command of narrative, spectacular use of language, majestic thematic resonance, unforgettable settings and characters, impeccable grasp of military strategy and tactics, and an ending so poignant in its bittersweet emotion that it lifts an already brilliant book into the pantheon of great classics.
It may surprise you to learn that this is my favourite book because I've never even attempted to write anything remotely like it, but this is simply me recognising that I'd be an utter loon to try.
11. Favourite authors? I have so many! Among the dead my faves are JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, and Edmund Spenser. The most obscure author I'm really abnormal about is Spenser, whose Faerie Queene is a magnificent epic of knights, monsters, virtues, vices, and the coolest ladies you will ever meet (Britomart, my love!!!). My favourite author of nonfiction is William Dalrymple who writes about travel and history mostly in Asia and is always worthwhile. 31. I'm having a lot of trouble with this one, so I'm going to flail out wildly and say that the album "Arcadia" by Eurielle is, from memory, a really close vibe match with Elizabeth von Armin's The Enchanted April, which is totally a book you should all read - peaceful, sunshiny, nostalgic.
39. Right now my favourite book-to-screen adaptation is Dune - Villeneuve's two movies are a brilliant adaptation job that capture what makes the book great and then improve on it in some key ways. Other noteworthy adaptations include The Princess Bride for a note-perfect adaptation of an already enormously fun book and Crazy Rich Asians which is SO much better than the book it's hard to believe.
42. Ooh! There are two books I absolutely adore, but the endings really disappointed me. Anthony Trollope's Can You Forgive Her? is one of my favourites of his, but I will always be disappointed that Alice ends up with John Grey - he starts out by disrespecting and gaslighting her, and while they eventually patch things up at the end, I never felt that he had really learned his lesson or would treat Alice any better in the future, and given that the book is over 300,000 words long I was super invested in Alice getting a good ending and I will never not be disappointed that she didn't. On the other hand, there's The Prisoner of Zenda in which the hero and heroine heroically relinquish their love for honour and this is why I can never write a good old-fashioned swashbuckler, even though I adore reading them, because deep down I don't believe that one should act like a turnip for the sake of honour, and you can't have a swashbuckler without that. 58. The most emotionally wrecked I've ever been by a book is Jennie by Paul Gallico. I was a BLUBBERING MESS but also mad about it to this day because I don't think he had the right to do that to anyone.
(Ask me more asks!)

Making The Right Choice: 11 Steps To Buy A Lab-Grown Diamond
Selecting the perfect lab-grown diamond is a decision that demands your utmost attention. The process involves many steps beyond knowing about the conventional 4 Cs (carat, cut, color, and clarity).
Lab-grown diamonds are an intriguing option for anyone interested in sustainable, ethically sourced treasures, whether they’re a couple on the verge of a life-altering commitment, a thoughtful gift-giver hoping to make someone’s day, or a savvy individual interested in ethical, sustainable gems.
This post will walk you through the crucial steps of purchasing a lab-grown diamond.
1. Determine your budget
Tumblr media
Since many consumers may have irrational expectations of what they can get—typically overestimating the price—budget considerations are crucial when purchasing lab diamonds.
But the good news is that, with the introduction of lab-grown diamonds, prices have drastically decreased, making it possible for more buyers to get the pieces they have their minds set on.
However, you’ll still need to consider your financial situation before making significant purchases.
For instance, a diamond engagement ring represents your unwavering love and devotion for your spouse, but it should also reflect the realities of the future you hope to share.
Overspending on your first big purchase together creates false expectations for your future and could unnecessarily strain your developing relationship.
2. Choose a diamond style
Keep your partner’s style or the person you want to gift in mind. Your partner’s preferences will impact the diamond shape you choose.
For instance, a traditional bride frequently anticipates a single, bright, round stone set in a straightforward—or not-so-straightforward—band.
However, your partner might choose a delicate marquise or a striking princess cut stone.
Finding the ideal fit for the most significant piece of jewelry will be easier if you know your partner’s aesthetic preferences.
Consult with friends and family, or consider their jewelry and wardrobe preferences.
3. Choose a gemstone’s shape
Tumblr media
The carat weight, cut, color, and clarity of the gemstone you select will all affect the cost of your lab-created diamond. Choosing the form of your diamond should come first because it will determine its style and other components.
For instance, you may discover that some ring designs are only compatible with particular gemstone forms. You can decide on the specifics once you’ve established the gemstone’s shape.
Round, oval, princess, and cushion cuts are typical shapes for lab-grown diamond jewelry.
If you want a diamond with the most brilliance and brightness, go for a brilliant cut. If you’re going for something sophisticated and classy, something like an emerald cut will have stunning appeal.
4. Discover the basics: the 4Cs of diamonds
Tumblr media
Learning about the diamond’s 4Cs is an important step in purchasing a lab-grown diamond. Like your love, your lab-created diamond strikes a delicate balance of elements.
Your diamond’s carat weight, cut, color, and clarity will all affect how stunning it appears.
Give yourself the time you need to think about how each of the different Cs will affect the appearance and shine of the diamond.
Carat Your stone’s carat or size will significantly impact the price of your lab-created diamond. A clear, well-cut gem with a warm color may help compensate for the impact lost if you reduce the diamond’s carat size.
Keep in mind that this is just a starting point. Later, you’ll probably go back and downsize.
If you or the gift recipient have a preferred carat, start there. If not, you can set a carat rather arbitrarily and return to this step after you have a pricing range.
Cut It is possible to combine a diamond’s cut and form. But a diamond’s cut refers to its proportions. The angles and symmetry that make up a diamond’s cut are rated by gemologists from “Poor” to “Ideal” and occasionally even “Excellent.”
One of the simplest steps is perhaps this one, especially for any shape that resembles a brilliant, like the round brilliant. You should decide between outstanding and ideal.
Restrict your search to excellent/ideal-cut grades for fancy cuts of the brilliant variety. You can consider slightly lowering the cut quality for a few fancy-shaped diamonds (step cuts).
Once you’ve chosen one or more diamonds, examine the HD 360-degree photos to compare their cuts visually. Make sure the table (surface) is the same size if you purchase a set.
Check out our diamond collection for various settings for round brilliant cut diamonds.
Clarity
Tumblr media
The last category is clarity, which ranges from “I” to “FL.” A diamond’s clarity takes into account its imperfections. It is rated from (I) for included, which means you can see the imperfection, to (FL), which is flawless.
Stones may have both internal and exterior flaws. Many of which require magnification to be seen.
When looking for a round brilliant-cut diamond, we recommend you limit your range to VS1 and SI2 for the best balance between clarity and cost.
Your specific diamond’s optimal clarity grade will vary depending on size, cut, and color.
If you choose an exceptional or ideal cut, the chances are that the stone will outshine any little inclusions. Some cuts exhibit inclusion more than others.
It’s time for some manual labor once you have narrowed your options. Looking at HD 360-degree photos, compare the diamonds and search for any defects or flaws evident to the naked eye.
Color
The allowable color range is influenced by the other elements and the metal color of the jewelry setting, much like clarity. Due to “foreign” substances present during their development (with lab-grown diamonds, often nitrogen or boron), both mined and lab-grown diamonds exhibit color.
Colorless diamonds are extremely rare, and you must pay a high price. A more color-free diamond is what one should strive for on a scale from D to Z used to grade color.
The letter “D” denotes that the white diamond is colorless, while “Z” indicates that the gem has a definite yellow tint.
You should start at the near-colorless grades of H to J/K and work down to the colorless grades of D, E, and F to maximize the diamond’s other properties.
The brightness will show through the extremely weak color of the H to J grades if you have chosen an exceptional or ideal cut, which we know you have if you adhere to these instructions.
This is especially true for cuts of the blazing bright variety. To get the most value for your money, choose grades I or J.
The hue of your center diamond may affect it more or less, depending on your chosen style.
For instance, a halo-style diamond ring would call for a “D” colorless diamond since the accent diamonds on either side of the central stone accentuate it.

5. Check out the finish, fluorescence, and proportions
Tumblr media
Let us now look beyond the 4 C’s to identify three additional elements that are crucial for finding the ideal lab-grown gem:
Symmetrical finish
A diamond’s facets are related to its symmetry. Flat surfaces, or facets, are produced when a diamond is sliced, improving light performance.
More symmetrical diamonds will have facet sizes and shapes that are more consistent.
A diamond won’t sparkle as brilliantly if one facet is misaligned since the cut grade and light refraction will be poorer.
Polished finish
The smoothness of facet surfaces affects light performance. You should stay away from facet surfaces with grooves or striated polish lines.
Less scintillation and dazzling sparkle from a diamond stone will result from such flaws.
Fluorescence
A scale of diamond fluorescence includes “None” and “Strong.” How a diamond is finished (in terms of symmetry and polish) will determine how it responds to ultraviolet light by giving off a soft hue.
Dimensions
A certification report could offer a thorough breakdown of diamond proportions, such as:
Table
Refraction describes how light enters and travels through a diamond. The diamond table, the largest facet of a diamond, is subject to the most refraction. This is significant because a larger diamond table creates the illusion of a bigger diamond.
A larger diamond table allows more light to enter, reflect off, and leave the diamond.
6. Decide where to buy
Tumblr media
The most crucial step is deciding where to buy your lab-grown diamonds.
Examine the stock and costs of several sellers. However, for the reasons listed below, we strongly advise you to go for online shopping:
Prices will be much lower.
You will have a better shopping experience.
The most crucial thing is that your final purchase will be superior.
Additionally, you should always go for trusted lab-grown diamond jewelry dealers. At Etika Jewels, We offer a beautiful, ethical, mindful diamond jewelry collection.
Check out our diamond collection today for the best quality and shopping experience.
7. Reevaluate your budget
Tumblr media
Having narrowed your search and probably compiled a respectable shortlist, it’s time to assess your budget. Is it something you have reviewed?
Here is what you should do if you go over your budget:
Reduce the carat weight until it is within your price range.
Use the following priorities if you are unable to reduce enough weight to remain within your means:
Start by lowering the clarity by one or two steps.
Second, take step or two back in terms of color grade.
8. Compare options
Check if any close substitutes have an advantage over the diamond you picked. Knowing the approximate range of your 4C grades should make it simple to locate comparable diamonds that are being offered.
9. Verify the certificates
Check the grading certificates once you have chosen the stone(s). If the vendor cannot produce the certificate, leave it as soon as possible (or close the tab on your browser).
To learn more, read: Is IGI A Good Diamond Certification? (Read This First!).
10. Review terms and conditions for returns once again
Tumblr media
You are about to make what could be your greatest jewelry purchase to date. Therefore, be sure to double-check the terms and the return policy.
We have a 3-day return policy at Etika Jewels, so you have three days from receiving an item to submit a return request.
11. Consider a second opinion and proceed with your diamond purchase
You might seek a second opinion once you feel confident in your decision. Since buying your lab-created diamond is an important decision, you might want to involve your significant other in some, if not all, of the choices.
You might also want to consult a close friend, a family member, or even a gemologist to pull off a huge romantic surprise..
FAQs
Before you decide to purchase, you might have the following queries we would like to clarify.
Are lab-created diamonds real diamonds?
Yes, lab-grown diamonds are real! A lab-grown diamond and a mined diamond have the same chemical makeup. The two diamonds look the same. One is generated in a lab, but the other is created beneath the earth’s surface.
For more information, read: Can You Tell The Difference Between Lab-Grown And Mined Diamonds?
What is the process of making lab-grown diamonds?
A laboratory-grown diamond is a manmade diamond produced by one of two growth techniques in a laboratory setting. CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) or HPHT (High Pressure, High Temperature).
The HPHT procedure involves pressing pure carbon powder into a capsule, which is put in a growth chamber. Over several weeks, a rough diamond crystal will form under intense pressure and heat (1300–1600°C).
The CVD procedure is initiated by inserting a diamond seed into a vacuum chamber. After that, methane and hydrogen gases are heated to the proper pressure until they evaporate, and carbon begins to settle onto the seed in layers, basically growing.
How long does it take to produce a lab-grown diamond?
The production of lab-grown diamonds can happen in a matter of days or weeks.
In fact, the diamonds Sidney Neuhaus grew for Meghan Markle, who caught the world’s attention with her engagement ring, were grown in just five days.
It is an incredibly quick process compared to the natural formation of diamonds, which takes billions of years!
Why should I buy lab-grown diamonds?
Here are several compelling reasons to consider buying lab-grown diamonds:
Environmental and ethical considerations Lab-grown diamonds are often seen as a morally superior option. Since they are manufactured under controlled conditions, there are no longer worries about unethical mining methods, conflict diamonds, or human rights abuses sometimes linked to natural diamonds.
Additionally, compared to their mined counterparts, lab-grown diamonds typically have a smaller environmental impact.
Durability You would undoubtedly snicker if we told you that lab-created diamonds are on par with genuine diamonds in terms of quality. But let’s clarify.
Earth-mined diamonds were created by a natural process in the earth’s crust millions of years ago. Intense heat and pressure catalyzed this process by causing “carbon atoms to crystallize, forming diamonds.”
The procedure can be repeated in the lab, albeit for a short amount of time. Carbon atoms crystallize the same way in a lab as they did almost three billion years ago.
As a result, a lab-grown diamond shares the same composition, consistency, hardness, tenacity, and durability as mined diamonds.
Cost-effective A lab-grown diamond is often cheaper than a mined diamond with comparable qualities. This makes them an appealing choice for individuals looking for bargains because you may buy a bigger or higher-quality diamond for the same budget.
Customization When it comes to selecting particular qualities like size, shape, and color, lab-grown diamonds give you more freedom. This enables you to design a piece of jewelry that is uniquely yours and completely suits your preferences and style.
Innovation Purchasing lab-grown diamonds contributes to the diamond industry’s continuous technological and sustainable development. These developments are advantageous for both the environment and customers.

A Guide To Buying A Princess Cut Diamond
Planning a flawless proposal is like preparing a gourmet dish – you've got to balance the ingredients just right! Selecting the engagement ring that'll make your partner gasp and choosing a venue that doesn't scream "predictable" is trickier than mastering a magic trick. Still, the process becomes less complicated with time and the right jeweler by your side.
The trickiest part, however, remains to be choosing the right diamond cut, especially with so many options and opinions around. Therefore, take as much time as you need to choose the perfect diamond for your ring. But if you are still perplexed after considering everything, don't worry; this blog is for you.
Of all the diamond cuts available and loved in the market, the princess cut is a favorite among modern brides. From Meghan Markle to Hillary Duff, even celebrities are big fans of this stunning stone. With so many people praising its beauty, it's hard to argue against it!
If you desire a timeless diamond with a contemporary touch, a princess-cut diamond would be perfect for your big day. Let's explore the details of selecting the ideal princess-cut diamond.
Understanding The Princess Cut
The princess cut is a square or rectangular-shaped diamond with pointed corners, known for its sharp angles and brilliant sparkle. It's a versatile cut that complements various ring styles, from classic solitaires to intricate settings.
Quality Factors
When selecting a princess-cut diamond, consider the four Cs – cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. Optimal cut ensures maximum brilliance, while color and clarity preferences depend on personal taste and budget. Carat weight influences both size and price.
Setting Styles
Princess-cut diamonds are adaptable to various settings. The classic solitaire engagement ring showcases the diamond's simplicity, while halo settings add extra sparkle with a ring of smaller diamonds surrounding the center stone. Consider your partner's style and preferences when choosing the setting.
Metal Choice
The metal of the engagement ring band plays a crucial role in the overall design. White gold, yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum are popular choices. Each metal offers a different aesthetic, so choose one that complements your partner's taste and existing jewellery.
Budget Considerations
Establish a budget early in the process. Princess cut diamonds generally offer a more affordable price per carat than round diamonds, allowing you to allocate your budget strategically across the four Cs and other features like the setting and metal.
Certification
Ensure the diamond has a reputable grading report from an independent gemological laboratory. Certifications from organizations like GIA or AGS provide an unbiased evaluation of the diamond's quality, aiding in transparency and confidence in your purchase.
Customization
Consider customization to add a personal touch to your princess-cut engagement ring. Many jewelers offer the option to choose the setting and metal and even create a custom design. This ensures a unique and meaningful ring that reflects your partner's personality.
Ring Size
Knowing your partner's ring size is crucial. Sneak a ring from their collection or ask friends and family for assistance. Resizing a ring with a princess-cut diamond can be more complicated due to the design, so accuracy is essential.
Warranty & Maintenance
Ensure your purchase has a warranty or guarantee, and inquire about maintenance services. Regular cleaning and inspections will keep the ring in pristine condition.
Buying a princess-cut diamond engagement ring involves a combination of personal preferences, budget considerations, and knowledge about the diamond's characteristics. Understanding these factors will help you make a confident and meaningful choice as you venture on this exciting journey.

Top 10 Engagement Ring Styles for Women in 2023
Tumblr media
The engagement ring is the most important piece of jewelry a woman will ever own. It symbolizes love, commitment, and a promise for forever. As we look towards 2023, engagement ring trends are evolving with new styles emerging that capture the essence of modern-day romance. From classic round diamonds to unique sapphire and diamond combinations, there's an engagement ring style suited for every taste and personality. In this blog post, we'll explore the top 10 engagement ring styles for women in 2023 that are sure to make heads turn and hearts skip a beat!  It’s the best for engagement rings for women.
Round Diamond
The timeless round diamond is the most popular choice for engagement rings and has been a classic style for decades. This cut boasts exceptional brilliance and fire, making it the perfect symbol of everlasting love. Round diamonds are versatile in nature, working well with various settings such as solitaire, halo or pavé. The simplicity of a round diamond can be enhanced through different band styles like rose gold or platinum. Additionally, this shape flatters all finger types due to its circular appearance. Many jewelers offer customization options that allow you to personalize your ring further by adding smaller diamonds around the center stone for added sparkle. It's no surprise that round diamonds remain an all-time favorite among brides-to-be and continue to reign supreme as one of the top engagement ring styles year after year.
Oval Diamond
The oval diamond engagement ring is a timeless classic that has become increasingly popular in recent years. This elongated shape flatters the finger and provides a unique twist on the traditional round diamond. Oval diamonds are known for their brilliance, fire, and sparkle which makes them an excellent choice for an engagement ring. The symmetry of this shape creates a stunning effect when it reflects light, capturing attention from every angle. When choosing an oval diamond engagement ring, consider its cut quality as well as its carat weight. A high-quality cut will ensure that your stone sparkles to maximum potential while maintaining symmetry. If you're looking for something with vintage appeal or want to make a bold statement with your jewelry, then consider pairing an oval-shaped diamond with accent stones such as small round diamonds or sapphires around the band. If you're looking for something romantic yet modern and elegant at the same time – look no further than the beautiful oval shaped diamond engagement rings!
Princess Cut Diamond
The Princess Cut diamond is a popular choice for engagement rings because of its unique and modern look. This cut features pointed corners and a square or rectangular shape, creating a beautiful geometric design that stands out from traditional round diamonds. One of the benefits of the Princess Cut is its versatility. It can be set in solitaire style for a classic look or surrounded by smaller diamonds in a halo setting to add extra sparkle. The sharp edges also make it perfect for pairing with other gemstones like sapphires or emeralds. Another advantage of this cut is that it tends to hide imperfections well. Because of its faceting pattern, any flaws or inclusions are less noticeable than they would be on other cuts. When shopping for an engagement ring with a Princess Cut diamond, consider the 4 Cs: carat weight, clarity, color, and cut grade. A higher quality diamond may cost more but will provide better brilliance and overall aesthetic appeal. If you're looking for a modern yet timeless engagement ring option, the Princess Cut diamond is definitely worth considering!
Asscher Cut Diamond
The Asscher cut diamond is a popular choice for those who want a vintage-inspired engagement ring. This shape of the diamond features step-like facets, which creates a unique and eye-catching appearance. This cut was first developed in 1902 by the Asscher Brothers of Amsterdam and gained popularity during the Art Deco period. It has since become an iconic diamond shape known for its elegance and sophistication. Asscher cut diamonds are often set in simple solitaire settings to showcase their beauty, but they can also be paired with side stones or halos to add extra sparkle. They work particularly well with geometric shapes such as baguettes or trapezoids. One thing to note about Asscher cut diamonds is that they tend to highlight any flaws or imperfections in the stone due to their step-cut faceting style. Therefore it's important to choose a high-quality diamond with excellent clarity when selecting an Asscher cut engagement ring. If you're looking for an engagement ring that exudes timeless elegance and glamour, then consider choosing an Asscher cut diamond as your center stone.
Customizable Ring
One of the most special things about an engagement ring is that it represents a unique and personal love story between two people. That's why customizable rings have become increasingly popular in recent years. A customizable engagement ring allows you to add your own personal touch to the design, making it truly one-of-a-kind. Whether you want to incorporate a sentimental gemstone, engrave a meaningful message or customize the band with a specific metal type, there are endless possibilities for creating a customized masterpiece. Customizable rings also allow for more flexibility when it comes to budgeting. By choosing different metals or stones, you can create an affordable option without sacrificing on style or quality. The process of designing your own custom engagement ring can be incredibly rewarding as well. From selecting each element of the design to seeing your vision come to life through sketches and renderings - every step feels like an intimate part of your journey together. If you're looking for an engagement ring that reflects your unique style and personality - consider going with a customizable option!
Bezel Set Diamond
Bezel set diamond engagement rings are becoming increasingly popular among women. This style features a diamond that is encased in a metal rim, which provides extra protection and security for the stone. The bezel setting also gives the ring a sleek and modern look. One of the biggest advantages of a bezel set diamond ring is its durability. The metal rim protects the edges of the stone from chipping or breaking, making it an excellent choice for women who lead active lifestyles or work with their hands. Another benefit of this style is its versatility. Bezel settings can be customized to fit any size and shape of diamond, allowing you to choose your perfect center stone while still having the added security and protection of this unique setting. In terms of design, bezel set diamonds can come in various styles ranging from minimalist to more ornate designs depending on your preference. Some couples opt for engraved bands while others prefer simple ones without any additional embellishments. If you're looking for an engagement ring that combines both functionality and fashion-forward design elements, then consider a bezel set diamond ring as an option that offers both benefits.
Frame Set Diamond
Frame set diamond engagement rings are a popular option for those who want to add extra sparkle and shine to their ring. This style features smaller diamonds that surround the center stone, creating a frame-like effect. The additional diamonds enhance the brilliance of the center stone, making it appear larger than it actually is. The frame setting can come in different shapes such as round or square, and can be made with various metals such as platinum or gold. Some even feature intricate designs within the frames themselves, adding an extra layer of detail and beauty. One benefit of this style is that it allows for customization. The size and shape of both the center stone and surrounding stones can be altered to fit personal preferences. Additionally, because there are multiple stones involved in this design, it provides added security against losing any individual diamond. If you're looking for a unique take on traditional solitaire engagement rings that adds more bling while still remaining classic and timeless, then consider opting for a frame set diamond engagement ring!
Conflict Free Diamond
Conflict-free diamonds are becoming increasingly popular in the world of engagement rings. A conflict-free diamond means that it has been ethically sourced, meaning there was no human or environmental harm during its extraction and production process. These types of diamonds ensure that the people who mine them receive fair wages and work under safe conditions. They also protect against funding armed conflicts where rough diamonds are traded for weapons. When you purchase a conflict-free diamond, you not only support ethical practices but also make a positive impact on communities around the world. If you're looking for an engagement ring with a clear conscience, consider purchasing a conflict-free diamond. Many jewelers now offer these types of stones as part of their collections, making it easier than ever to find your dream ring without compromising your values. Investing in an ethical engagement ring is not only good for your soul but also ensures that the love between you and your partner is built on strong foundations – those based on honesty and integrity.
Sapphire & diamond ring
One of the most unique and stunning engagement ring styles for women in 2023 is the sapphire and diamond ring. These rings are perfect for those looking for a pop of color in their engagement ring, while still maintaining a classic look. Sapphires come in a range of colors, from deep blues to pretty pinks. They're also highly durable, making them ideal for everyday wear. Pairing them with diamonds adds an extra layer of elegance and sparkle. When it comes to choosing a sapphire and diamond ring, there are many options to consider. Some popular designs feature one large center sapphire surrounded by smaller diamonds or vice versa. Others opt for alternating rows of sapphires and diamonds or incorporating both stones into intricate patterns on the band itself. With so many design possibilities available, there's sure to be a style that perfectly suits every taste. Not only do sapphire and diamond rings offer beauty and durability, but they can also hold special meaning depending on the color chosen. For example, blue sapphires symbolize loyalty while pink ones represent love and compassion. If you're looking for an engagement ring that stands out from the crowd while remaining timeless in style, then consider a stunning sapphire and diamond combination!
Conclusion
Choosing an engagement ring is one of the most important decisions in a person's life. It symbolizes the love and commitment that you share with your partner. With so many styles and options available, it can be overwhelming to make a choice. In this article, we have discussed some of the top engagement ring styles for women in 2023. From classic round diamonds to unique sapphire and diamond rings, there is something for everyone. When choosing an engagement ring style, it's important to consider your partner's personal taste and lifestyle. Some women prefer traditional styles while others may want something more modern or unique. Whatever your preference may be, remember that the perfect engagement ring should reflect your love story as a couple. Don't forget about sustainability when selecting a diamond or gemstone for your engagement ring. Opting for conflict-free stones ensures ethical sourcing practices are being followed while giving you peace of mind knowing that no harm was done during the mining process. Wedding Bands for Men: Finding the Perfect Personalized Diamond Ring
Tumblr media
When it comes to wedding bands for men, there is an ever-growing variety of styles, materials, and designs available. A personalized diamond ring is popular for those looking to make a statement, symbolizing the unique bond between two people. In this blog, we'll discuss why personalized diamond rings are the perfect choice for men's wedding bands and provide tips on selecting the perfect one.
The Appeal of Personalized Diamond Rings for Men:
Gone are the days when wedding bands for men were limited to simple gold or silver bands. Nowadays, a wide range of options are available, including personalized diamond rings. These rings offer the perfect blend of sophistication, elegance, and individuality, ensuring the groom's ring is as special and meaningful as the bride's.
Materials and Settings:
Personalized diamond rings come in various materials and settings. Platinum, white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold are popular choices. When choosing the metal for the ring, consider the groom's style and preferences, as well as the durability of the material.
As for the setting, there are several options for incorporating diamonds into the wedding band. Channel, bezel, and pave settings are among the most popular styles. Each setting has its unique look and can be customized to suit the groom's taste.
Diamond Shape and Quality:
Another aspect to consider when selecting a personalized diamond ring is the shape of the diamonds. Round, princess, and baguette cuts are popular for men's wedding bands. The shape should not only suit the groom's style but also complement the ring's overall design.
The quality of the diamonds is another crucial factor. When purchasing a diamond ring, pay close attention to the 4 Cs: carat, cut, clarity, and color. These factors will determine the diamonds' overall quality, appearance, and value in the wedding band.
Custom Engravings:
Incorporating custom engravings is one way to add a personal touch to a diamond wedding band. Engravings can include initials, the wedding date, a meaningful phrase, or a unique symbol representing the couple's relationship. This extra detail makes the ring even more special and sentimental.
Sizing and Comfort:
Lastly, ensuring the personalized diamond ring fits comfortably on the groom's finger is essential. The right size and a comfortable fit will ensure the ring can be worn daily without causing any discomfort. When ordering a ring, be sure to have the groom's finger accurately measured by a professional jeweler.
Conclusion:
A personalized diamond ring is an excellent choice for a men's wedding band, as it perfectly balances style, elegance, and individuality. When choosing the perfect ring, consider the metal, setting, diamond shape and quality, custom engravings, and sizing. With careful consideration, you'll find the perfect wedding band to symbolize your unique love story.

Hi! It's your CS exchange gifter again :) I might be coming in here more often now so I hope you don't mind 😉 (however feel free to let me know if you do ahaha)
Firstly I'd like to fangirl about TS with you and say how much i adore The Great War and Would've Could've Should've from Midnights!!! They were my faves from the album. And All Too Well... ughhhH!!! I love that song so mUCH! My favorite all-time TS songs would probably be August, Cornelia Street, Delicate, Jump then Fall, Long Live, Superman, the 1... omg too many to name! I will stop there so this doesn't get crazy long lol. When I was in middle school (that's about 15ish years ago for me haha) I took up playing guitar and my first guitar book was Taylor Swift's Fearless album. So I spent so most of my middle school years learning and playing songs like Fearless and White Horse, and I think that album is always nostalgic to me because of that!
How long have you been in the OUAT fandom? I myself have only been here for a little over a year haha! What are some of your other favorite shows, movies or books? 🥰
HEYYYY! (sorry this took so long to answer i saw it and then completely forgot lol)
Aaaah yes taylor is amazing! I love all of those songs and Long Live is one of my top favourite songs and its so underrated in my opinion! and the 1 and cornelia street and jump then fall are so adorable (i love pretty much all of her songs tho)
I first watched ouat about 6 years ago i think, but didn't really interact with the fandom until a couple years ago. I have a lot of favourite shows, but right now my top ones are lost, gilmore girls, ted lasso, the newsroom, brooklyn 99, parks and recreation and new girl. My favourite movies are Little Women (2019), Juno, The Fault In Our Stars, Love Simon, and the Princess Bride. And my favourite books would probably be The Book Thief, The Fault In Our Stars, Looking for Alaska (I'm a big john green fan), Because You Love to Hate Me, and the Hunger Games series (it's harder for me to think of favourite books but these are the ones I reread the most)
How's your week been? I hope it's been good (and btw i don't mind you sending more asks, I can't wait to hear from you again!)

My next fic disappearing from Ao3 is another speculation fic from before season six featuring Hyde as the bad guy in a Prince Humperdink scenario. It’s kind of silly, to be honest.
Summary: Mr. Hyde is forcing Emma Swan into marrying him. But Hyde has never seen the Princess Bride. Emma has. She knows how this ends.
Rating: G
Words: just shy of 2,000
On Ao3 until 11/10/19

In this day and age of modern, independent women, you would think dreams of princesses, castles, and balls wouldn’t even enter girl’s minds anymore. And yet … how does one explain the continued popularity of Disney princesses? Sure, maybe some parents are playing into gender stereotypes, but plenty of moms in sensible suits making six figure incomes are more than willing to plop down 75 bucks for one of those top of the line dresses at the Disney Store. And even if some women try to deny otherwise, why are so many women still swooning over Mr. Darcy? (Or, secretly, Flynn Ryder, smolder and all.)
Emma Swan was no different. By day she hunted down scum bags in sensible knee high boots. But by night … Well, let’s just say she was no stranger to Ben, Jerry, or Mr. Darcy. (As for Flynn Ryder, she would deny that one to her dying breath. She had no kids, so she had no excuse for watching Tangled to begin with).
But Emma’s favorite was The Princess Bride. Sure, Buttercup sometimes got on her nerves (What?! NOW you choose to pick up the damn branch! Help the man, girl!), but Emma couldn’t help but be moved by Westley’s utter devotion to her. Every time Westley declared to Buttercup that even death couldn’t stop true love, Emma would pause with her breath caught in her throat, spoonful of rocky road paused halfway to her lips. If only men like Westley were actually real.
Then she found out Disney princesses were, in fact, real. So were their princes. There really were fairy tales with true love and happy endings. But a real Westley? Doubtful. Until … there he was, the man in black. Lopsided grin, mesmerizing eyes, and a quick-witted tongue. She tried to suppress the schoolgirl fantasies, swearing even when she hauled him in for a kiss that it couldn’t possibly be as good as she dreamed. But the kiss was. And he was. What she had dreamed. “As you wish,” and everything. Even “death can’t stop true love; it can only delay it for a little while.” Yes, even Westley was real. Only his name was actually Killian Jones. And his more colorful moniker, instead of Dread Pirate Roberts, was Hook.
If she was living out her little fantasy, Emma should have anticipated a Prince Humperdink and a forced marriage at some point. Yet she hadn’t. They had done the whole death thing. A Prince Humperdink seemed rather anticlimactic. However, enter from stage right … Mr. Hyde.
Yeah, figures. Her Prince Humperdink was Mr. Freakin’ Hyde. I’ll take psychopaths for two hundred, Alex. Apparently, there was some prophesy about the child of the savior, so Hyde wanted to father it with her. Thankfully, his Victorian sensibilities required marriage first. Thank god.
Emma knelt in front of the door of her locked room, her tongue poking out of the corner of her mouth as she attempted to pick the lock with a hair pin. She may be Princess Buttercup in this little drama, but she wasn’t just going to sit around and wait. She had already tried her magic. Her non-existent magic, apparently. She wasn’t sure what Hyde had done, but she wasn’t able to use it. Just when Emma thought the lock had clicked open, a jolt sent her falling backwards onto her rear. Emma swore under her breath as she got to her feet. So much for picking the lock. She turned instead to the window. Bars. It was a stark reminder that she was being held captive in an asylum. No castles for Emma Swan. No sir. For her story, it was an asylum. Fitting.
Emma stood and began pacing; gnawing on her fingernails as she racked her brain for a plan. As she did, the door swung open. Emma lowered her hand quickly and squared her shoulders. No need to let Hyde see any nervousness or fear. Yet it’s a servant girl, not Hyde who shuffles into the room, a white wedding dress draped over her arm.
“Pardon me, Miss,” the maid says shyly. “I’m to get ye into yer gown and fix yer hair.”
Emma crosses her arms smugly over her chest. “I’m not putting that dress on because I’m not marrying the psycho.”
The maid – Mary, if Emma remembers correctly – looks around nervously. “The master told me ye would say that. He says he’ll put it on ye heself if ye refuse me help.”
Emma narrows her eyes, marches forward, and snatches the dress out of Mary’s hand. She knows, unfortunately, Hyde’s super-human strength from her run-ins with him in Storybrooke. “I’ll put it on myself,” Emma mutters. She stomps behind the dressing screen in the corner. “It also doesn’t mean I’m marrying him.”
Emma puts the dress on as quickly as she can, but needs Mary’s help in buttoning up the back. As the maid works the buttons, Emma speaks, a tilt to her chin. “Killian is coming for me anyway.”
Mary says nothing at first, simply steering Emma towards the vanity. Emma examines the dress as she sinks onto the velvet stool. Hideous. Huge. And the bows! What is this? My Big Fat Greek Wedding? Mary begins deftly working on her hair, a dreamy smile playing on her lips. “Yer pirate is rather dashing, Miss.” Emma meets Mary’s eyes in the mirror. The maid ducks her head before continuing, a blush coloring her cheeks. “Eyes like the sea after a storm …”
Emma gasps. This maid has never been to Storybrooke. So that means … Killian is here! This Mary girl has seen him (hence the blushing). Emma’s hand goes to her breast without thinking. Resting there, hanging from a chain around her neck, is the garnet ring Killian gave her in Camelot as well as the engagement ring he gave her just a week ago in Storybrooke. Emma had feared Hyde would take it, so she had slipped it onto the chain with the other ring. Luckily, the high Victorian neckline of the dress conceals them well. Emma smiles and exchanges a glance with the maid. He’s here!
Mary finishes with Emma’s hair. Though the dress is an over the top mess, Emma’s hair, thankfully isn’t. Mary has expertly pulled a little back from the sides and top with pins, letting the rest cascade in soft curls down her back. Mary lifts something from a mahogany box atop the vanity table and sets it on Emma’s head. A crown. Not a tiara. A full-on crown. Just like Princess Buttercup’s in the movie.
“Um … “ Emma wets her bottom lip. “Don’t you think it’s a little … much?”
“Oh, law, Miss!” Mary exclaims. “Yer a princess, Miss! And a bride. A princess bride.”
Emma suppresses a chuckle. The girl would think she was making fun of her.
Mary suddenly stiffens as Hyde strides into the room. She curtsies quickly, mumbling that the bride is ready, and hurries from the room. Hyde stands behind her, awkwardly placing his hands on her shoulders. “Nervous, my dear?”
Oh, so he wants to play out the whole scene? Fine. Emma knows it by heart.
“Why? Should I be?”
“I’m told bride’s often are.”
Okay, now this is just getting downright eerie. Still, Emma plays along. She rises smugly from the stool, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
“I do not wed tonight. My pirate will come for me.”
****************************************************
Emma wonders at the crowd in the asylum chapel. Are these people here by force? Do they know she is marrying Hyde against her will? She tries to catch someone’s eye as she walks down the aisle, looking for a familiar face, or perhaps an ally. But everyone averts their eyes, avoiding her gaze.
When the priest steps forward, Emma half expects “Wuv, twue wuv” to come out of his mouth, but it doesn’t. He does wax on a little long about the sanctity of marriage. Rather ironic, if you ask Emma. Halfway through his spiel, Emma thinks she hears shouts in the corridors of the asylum. A grin lights up Emma’s face. She turns to Prince Hump – er – Hyde.
“There is my Killian, now.”
Hyde’s face, as usual, remains stony and impassive. “Impossible.”
Emma is really getting into the scene now. “Then why is there fear behind your eyes?”
“Do you have the rings?” the priest interrupts, and Emma can’t help the chuckle that bubbles up from her throat. She could have sworn he said “wings” instead of “rings.”
The sounds outside of the chapel grow louder. Not just shouts, but the sound of clanging steel. Perhaps the “woosh” and “twang” of arrows? A vein in Hyde’s forehead twitches. “Skip to the end.”
“Do you, Emma Swan –“
“Man and wife!” Hyde snaps through gritted teeth. “Just say man and wife!” The priest shrugs. “Man and wife.”
Emma grins and winks at the priest as Hyde grabs her by the elbow and hauls her out of the chapel’s rear door. They head down one short corridor and Hyde opens the door to a room more opulent than anything she has yet to see in this dark, foreboding place. The honeymoon suite, apparently. How nauseating. Hyde shoves her inside. Emma stands in front of the doorway, smirking.
“You’ve never seen The Princess Bride, have you?”
Hyde practically growls in frustration, slams the door, and locks it. She hears his heavy footfalls echoing away down the hallway.
“I’ll take that as a no.”
Emma falls to her knees in front of the locked door, pulling a hair pin out of her wedding ‘do. She has just begun fiddling with the lock when she hears a voice behind her.
“Need a hand with that, love?”
Emma hasn’t even turned around yet when she cries out his name. “Killian!” She rushes to him, throwing her arms around his neck and covering his mouth with hers. She then peppers kisses across his face. “I knew you would come!”
Killian leans back with a smile on his face that quickly fades to a look of concern. “Am I too late?”
Emma laughs and shakes her head. “Hyde has obviously never seen The Princess Bride.”
A grin spreads across Killian’s face. “Ahhh, I see. Forgot the vows, did he?”
Emma beams up at him, her Westley. “Yeah. He’s a regular Prince Humperdink.”
Killian gives her his best smirk, pulling her even closer against him. “Well then, lass, to the Jolly Roger, shall we? If you wouldn’t mind.”
Pounding is coming from the other side of the door.
“But Killian, Hyde is blocking my magic somehow!”
Killian cocks an eyebrow. “You doubt me love? That was Regina’s mission. Now, poof away.”
Emma isn’t sure if the best line is “As you wish” or “I will never doubt again,” so she says neither and just flicks her hand. Sure enough, when the smoke clears, they are on the deck of Killian’s ship. She’s quickly enveloped in hugs from her parents and Henry. Regina shows her affection with snark, as usual. “What took you two so long? Were you testing out the bridal chamber?” Emma just rolls her eyes, smiles at Regina, and thanks her.
As they sail away, with the sun setting in the distance, Killian comes to her side. As he takes her in his arms, she’s reminded of a scene at the very end of The Princess Bride.
In the history of kisses, there have been five rated the most passionate, the most pure.
This one left them all behind.

Hey Sophie! So you're really good with these, so maybe you can help me out? I'm looking for a CS fic that I read a while ago inspired by the movie Penelope? Killian's a pirate but goes under disguise as a prince to win Emma's hand but then falls in love with her and thinks she deserves better to break the curse she has? And one other thing, do you have a list of fics inspired by The Princess Bride? I'm in the mood for one but don't know what to read! Thank you so much for all you do!
hey, thank you. i don’t know about the penelope one, but i’d be very interested to find out. i loved that movie
this is inspired by the princess bride, maybe there’s more :)
