☆ Get To Know Me Challenge ☆
reasons why you like/dislike your name: i definitely go through phases where i like it, then i dislike it. i dislike it because there's a lot of us around (in my freshmen rush group, there's supposed to be either two or three of us), but at the same time i love it because it means "to strive" which i think is accurate for me after all i've been through medically and emotionally. also there's the stereotype that all emilys are crackheads and super funny, which i've been told by multiple friends makes sense for my irl personality.
star sign: leo sun, libra moon, aquarius rising. the libra moon seems to be most accurate to my personality tho lol
country you live in: the usa :)
favorite artist(s): Noah Kahan, 5SOS, Blake Rose, Niall Horan, Sabrina Carpenter, New Hope Club, The Vamps, Julia Michaels, Harry Styles, BTS, Blanks, Corey Harper, Valley, Lewis Capaldi. there's probably way more bc i'm obsessed with finding new artists but those are the top ones :)
morning, afternoon, or evening: i love each of them for different reasons but i really like that period between early morning and lunch, so like between 9:30 and 11:30. also really late at night, like 1:00 am.
siblings: one older sister on earth, one older sister in heaven, and a twin in heaven that passed away before we knew their gender (my twin telepathy though has always said boy for some reason)
sexuality: straight & demisexual
favorite special item: probably the "squishmallow" (it was offbrand but idc) my grandmother bought me last year while i was in the hospital. that was probably the hardest time i've ever had and it was such a small gesture but coming home after being hospitalized the weekend before my birthday and seeing that waiting for me, it'll always be special to me <3
five random facts:
i have five autoimmune diseases.
because of that, i was able to meet Niall Horan in 2017 through Make A Wish!
i've been writing original stories since i was eight years old, and writing fanfiction since i was nine (shoutout to that crappy Frozen fanfic i wrote on my mom's old Toshiba)
despite being almost 19, i still don't have a driver's license or permit (pls send tips on passing the permit test i'm begging you)
my lifelong dream has been to work with Ewan McGregor. ever since i first saw him in the Star Wars prequels, i've wanted to act alongside him.
no pressure tags: @wifeyreid @daddyreid @danzalladaggers @rupurts-morgue03 @nomajdetective @ssabelova @letarasstuff and anyone else who wants to do it!

i know this is isnt even sonadow adjacent, but i'm a traditional artist who is having trouble adjusting to digital. I know carrer-wise its going to be really useful, but i dont know how to go about acclimating to it. I really love your art and i was wondering if you have any advice for me- of course if you want to! Thank you regardless (dont forget to drink water and take breaks!)
Screaming, I'm so happy you're loving my art-- Getting to this point just on Tumblr has been a milestone. 😭 Thank you sm!
When I first got into digital back in the early 2010's (I think), I got a Wacom bamboo pen & touch for my birthday, when that started to die after a few years I got a crappy offbrand and a Wacom Intuos pen & touch later that christmas to replace both. Several years later when the Intuos decided to die, I got a One by Wacom which I had for a few years. By this point, all of these tablets didn't have a screen, and I had learned how to draw looking at my monitor. When my One died, is when I upgraded to my current tablet; a Cintiq Companion 2 (a discontinued model unfortunately). Having a screen tablet changed my life and the way I draw, it's had a massively positive effect on my career. -- -- -- All of this said; it really just takes time to get to know your tablet. The best way I personally got into digital fully was just throwing myself in headfirst, but another method would be just trying to do a few doodles a day if you can manage it. The more time you spend slowly converting over, the easier it'll be getting into it and it feeling more comfortable.
Take your time and don't try and rush yourself, take things at your own pace so you can enjoy the change instead of feeling stressed by it. I believe in you. 💖

Back in the day
I had a really crappy car that constantly needed upkeep, and I had roughly 0 interest and 0 tools suited for it. I did however have a friend with some experience with wrenching on junk for idiots. He gave me a piece of advice; Buy a set of crappy food-store-quality tools. There is always some set with 119 dubious-quality offbrand snap-ons and really crappy block wrenches. Buy that and hang on to it. Within a week you will start breaking the crap tools, so replace them and as you do, try to think if this is something you actually need. This way you will end up with a toolset made 40% of colored soap, and the rest real quality tools. This WILL cost more, but you will have a complete set of everything (half of which is crap) and all the tools you actually need will be of real metal and not just chromed dung. AND you will have them in a well-designed box that looks ultra-cheap. They will not fit well, because the real tools will always be mismatched in size, but they will be good enough. And the crappy plastic case will scream “crap quality” to anyone breaking in so they MAY leave it.
This is not the cheapest way of getting proper tools, but it is FAST and it gets you camouflage for the real stuff you eventually settle for.

Dear Mrs Pancakeke, do you happen to have any recommendations for an ergonomic mouse? I started following you after seeing the "moodboard for when you are over 25" post, so I figured you might be the right person to ask. 29 myself and man, my wrist do start to get irritated.
Mice are a little hard to recommend because there are a few types and they all have their benefits/drawbacks.
I personally like this Kensington Orbit trackball mouse, but it's not vertical. I LOVE the way it scrolls because I have a difficult time with the motion required to use regular scroll wheels, but unfortunately it's not vertical. Though honestly you can make it tilt with some low tech modifications like legos, k'nex, or cardboard. If you can woodwork or have a 3D printer you can make a prettier mount. MAJOR drawback for this mouse though: no middle click button.
Another mouse I have and enjoy is this offbrand (J-tech) vertical wireless mouse. The buttons are quiet and maybe this is just me but the buttons don't require a ton of force to click. They don't feel crappy like you could accidentally click them though. I really liked using it when I was recovering from surgery and had a hard time with buttons. It's vertical and fit nicely in my hand. Unlike some other offbrand mice it has slight weight to it and the plastic doesn't feel flimsy so it doesn't feel cheap. I wasn't mad about spending $30 on it lol
I've also used this Anker vertical mouse but up against the J-tech I would rather use the J-tech one. It fit in my hand better.
I've seen lots of praise for Logitech's trackball mice too. There are more expensive ones but the Logitech ERGO M575 seems to be a good, (somewhat) affordable option. It's a trackball and it's somewhat tilted.
Logitech has a nice non-trackball vertical mouse too but it is expensive. Amazon has a listing for refurbished ones that are a little cheaper but not by much.
If you intend on doing serious gaming though pickins are real slim. I honestly don't see a lot of mice that are genuinely ergonomic and built for gaming. Logitech's MX Master series has a smidgen of tilt to them and their buttons are placed in a way that supposedly reduces hand strain. As someone who like genuinely can't use a computer for long without a funky mouse and keyboard I don't totally buy it. Minor improvements can be better than nothing though, so could be worth trying one out.
Due to the nature and cost of ergo mice I highly recommend buying from some place with a good return policy and waiting to buy one until you know you're going to use it a bunch. Then as soon as you get it use the hell out of it and see if it works for you. Make your decision before the end of the return period so you aren't stuck with a useless expensive mouse that you don't like!
I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Magical girl-magician ish outfit that was coorded around expanding the overall vibe behind this JSK, Magic Girl Star. It reuses the same cut as the "Cirque du L'Etoile" series, so I think a circusy/magician thing suits it perfectly. I made a peplum for this, since I think the JSK's skirt portion needed something. Although this outfit is technically over a year old, I recycled the majority of the items worn here (and the concept) for this year's Halloween meet, which I will follow-up post shortly.
All items Angelic Pretty except for hat (anonhat, Japanese indie brand) and tights (offbrand). The magician’s hat is a crappy handmade prop.

Can you share what electronics you have, but butchered the names of the gadget to where it sounds like a crappy offbrand? It'll pass some time while we enter year 3 of hell.
Michaelsoft Binbows laptop (it's actually HP but it runs on 🅱️inbows), Inerjohn Television, Bintenbo Snitch and ThreeDS, and a Forest Fire TV stick
