happy monday to everyone! ^^ what better way to start the week than some clowning. i hope this makes it easier for you to get through the day and rest of the week. nothing too ground breaking, just some good old minor cpns i picked up here and there. enjoy~ and yes i used that gif of gege as clickbait! hahahahaha!

i wanna start with a usual observation, the way they do not clash in terms of project promotions. in the past weeks, WoF was in full swing, and now it’s FPU which will most likely continue till it’s release and the week after that. in the meantime, XZ is on radio silence. you still have the usual ads and stock photos from XZS + some random hot searches but nothing else. i have a feeling that after Bobo’s promotions, XZ will come out for LOCH.

and speaking of XZS posting photos, let me direct you to this one. he is holding a fan again. not the 380 yuan but we’ve seen it before and he is using it during his drama filming right now.

so as the clowns that we are, we had to search for it so we can get the same style. how it’s describe on online markets is: F30 handheld rechargeable small fan mini portable wind power household. carry-on fan for camping. camping? interesting. of course you can use outside of that, but with our cpn of them and camping— this is yet another clue. did the same guy who bought him the 380 yuan fan before, searched up something his beloved can use for camping and beyond? they are so cute! i swear! i’m here for this whole soft era of them loving camping and relaxing!

now about the future concert of yibo which i screamed about here & here — whether that’s true or not— us cpfs will of course do what we do best. to clown. so here are some points:

1. some are connecting this concert thing to a previous hs related to xz. it was about him and his company adding services which includes concerts. the actual tag was: #xiaozhanstudio adds new commercial performance license#. of course whatever this is, if yibo does hold a concert, it will be under yuehua but i understand where the clowning is coming from.

Okay let's get something straight, i wrote this during a 10 hour car ride. Not proof read we die like tributes. @mystargirl-interlude i hope this isn't too shit my dear.

Honestly, get over yourself if you really think like this.

I’m not asking for them to like the movie, everyone has their preferences, but to just move on and find something more of their style. THEY GOT A LOT OF THOSE. This movie was made specifically for people like me, like the LGBTQ+; to dig deep into our brains and to help people metaphorically understand what we go through and what others actions could result into us feeling/doing just because we choose to be what makes US happy. No need to post something like that as like a “warning”.

It is not bad by any means! Some of the little snip-bits I see on TikTok are pretty cool and funny but when I tried to watch it, I just couldn’t get into it; not my taste. I am no parent to any child at all, but I was raised by my mutter (❤️) who let me make my own decisions, gave her opinion and left it at that with no fight whatsoever. Sometimes, she was even right when it came to my options. Even if she didn’t get it, she would always TRY to understand.

Let me give you an example:

I technically don’t care what pronouns I am called, but for legal reasons, I am a she/her female outside the internet. My mutter, who grew up with womanhood back in the day (millennials 🙄/j), was told that women should always shave their legs. So, I was too.

Me though? I ignored that part when I grew into my teenage years. I started shaving when I wanted to (which isn’t often tbh) and only when I wanted to. Not when other people thought I should, it was when I thought I should that mattered to me.

My mutter? Didn’t get it at first.

When I walked around with my leg hair out, she would start asking me when I planned on shaving; I would shrug and say, “probably soon.”

That would end up with me basically forgetting my leg hair existed. My grandma is the one who really doesn’t let that shit slide and has “threatened” to hold me down and let her do it, but I’m like: “stfu, not one gosh-diddly-darn soul asked for your fucking opinion, Susan 😐 and that’s really fucking weird”.

Honestly, after that first conversation, I was getting something from the kitchen when my mutter got out of her bed, walked up to me and asked: “Are you not shaving because you’re lazy or because you really don’t want to?”

I told her the truth, “I shave when I want to, ma.”

She takes that truth with her for the rest of her days.

My grandma still doesn’t like it; continues to remind me that people won’t accept me for it. However, I like to think my mutter has proved her wrong.

Now a days, I got my mom protecting me from it: “It’s her choice, it’s her decision, can’t you leave it at that?” She told my grandma (her mom) one day in the car. I’ve never smiled so wide. Over fucking leg hair, though, can you believe it?

My grandma still likes to complain anyway (she loves me, I swear, she’s just a tough cookie, and a boomer) but the more she does it, the more I laugh and we just move on.

Do you see what I’m getting at here?

You influence your kids.

But they are kids, they usually grow up thinking that their beloved parents are always right. They don’t know any better, until they grow up. Whether they choose to go down that path of hate you taught them or if they decide to expand their knowledge and UNDERSTAND what is going on with others heads is their choice and their choice alone. (I honestly encourage the latter, but, whatever floats the boat I guess.)

The Nimona movie is perfect. You don’t have to like it but it has reached into other peoples hearts, gave it a hug, saying “I understand you, you are not the only one, you are loved, you are safe with us, you are not alone.” At least give credit where credit is due. It sends out an important message for people who hate who they are to not hate who they are and to embrace the beauty within them. Show off the beauty and to never hide it just because of what others think.

Please don’t discourage others to not watch this movie.

Please, please, please, please, please, please, PLEASEEE show this to every person in the universe who needs to hear Nimona’s message. 😭🙏🏻

What’s your Rating when it comes to Hazbin&Boss’s Songs? I Love most of them and some not to much, I Love That Short Western song When Striker was Fighting M&M and sound so Awesome! but was switched to a Pop Song and it was long, Plus I wished they could have stick to one Song instead of switching to the other in That Episode and we really didn’t need that montage of Loona being chased by the vet, Do we? I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wish there were full versions of the Songs tho, What do you think?

Oh my rating? Let it be known I am not a musician, so I'm mostly rating these based off catchiness, lyrics, and context.

For Hazbin, the new official songs aren't out yet, so I'll judge the pilot's. The first song with Charlie... the "I'm always chasing rainbows" is a cover of an old song, and I think it's quite beautiful and perfect for her character. It is unfortunate that the song that isn't even original catches my attention the most. Her song "Happy Hotel" is too fast-paced and the VA sings too high, I couldn't understand what she was saying through half the song so I don't like that one very much. Alastor's was fine, I actually love the first part of it, that one would probably be my favorite. Angel's "Addict" is extremely average, but catchy pop, the lyrics are pretty nice. The animation that goes with it was also very good as far as an AMV goes.

Helluva Boss songs: (First=most favored to last=least favored)

House of Asmodeus: I have friends who don't like this song because it goes on pretty long and isn't all that interesting, but I truly adore this song when Asmodeus and Fizz interrupt. It's jazzy, and it's Asmodeous scolding someone for not playing by the rules of his establishment- and maybe even hints at the irony of what they're saying because Fizz and Ozz have a relationship that maybe (at least confirmed now) they aren't ready to acknowledge. We also get to see Blitz and Stolas get verbally attacked in the club, putting their whole relationship into question when this was supposed to be the first date they've ever properly had which misled Stolas into thinking there was more- only for Blitz to become embarrassed when Stolas doesn't stand up for him, solidifying his fears of their relationship being a "thrust"- I mean I could go on and on but the context is just so ... deep????? and it involves all of our characters and was a major turning point for the series, a really good eye opener finale all around.

You Will Be Okay: It's a lovely lullaby with pretty lyrics and a sad context, one that hints at a future tragedy to befall Stolas. A song that reveals Octavia, Stolas's daughter, who is very attached to him, and her fear of losing him. Stolas comforts her, but in the way that... if he dies, she will be fine on her own- that when the time comes, she won't need him anymore. Only to smack right into the change of Stolas now no longer seen in a positive light in Octavia's eyes- feeling betrayed and confused and hurt by him. It's just a subtle but powerful song.

Stolas Sings: I acknowledge the lyrics are useless in the context because it reveals nothing about his character, and this is the episode that completely messed up his relationship writing with not only Blitz but also Stella........ if the lyrics were tweaked I think this would have been good, but... idk I know its not great but I actually really really like this song. It's just so pretty and angsty... I can't help but love it regardless of the nonsense

Vacay to Bonetown: Verosika is a popstar, so, of course, we gotta get a song for her. She mostly sings about smutt and self-care, so the song doesn't have a bigger meaning, but it is very relaxing lo-fi kind of style. The lyrics are interesting, though odd in some aspects- but the point is a double meaning. Singing about going on vacation too, I don't know, it just feels like a nice summer song in a way- if it weren't so R rated ksldgjlkfdg but this one has always been a top fav

Monster's Ball: This is like??? The PROPER song that Beezlebub should have sung? This is really good and has unique lyrics that help, in a quick way, describe Beezlebub's personality and ...career? It's average pop yeah, but parts of it are rather catchy. This song is actually pretty good. I have no idea what is going on though with the music of this episode because Kesha was initially part of it and ended up going through legal troubles against Spindlehorse and no one really knows why. So there was a lot of weirdness surrounding the music made for this episode. I wish I had more behind-the-scenes context but... I don't.

My World Is Burning Down Around Me: A short song that Octavia listens to. The lyrics are on the nose and the song itself is only in there for like... 30 seconds tops... but its angsty and catchy so here's a shout-out to it.

The Ballad of Striker: I really really like this country song, the Mariachi band and lyrics are really fun. But context just doesn't fit, unfortunately, because Striker is no longer a secret assassin but in fact a very well-known outlaw for hire in the ring of wrath... just doesn't feel true to the original character

Oh Millie: A pilot song, but it's sweet. Millie's contributions are actually cute. It's used as a funny gag, but it also shows an interesting Bonnie and Clyde romance, where Moxie, despite his logical nature, actually really enjoys killing and adores his wife for being just as vicious. And Millie is enamored with his softer musical side, and may not be as good with words, but she still loves to be part of it. I don't know... Millie and Moxie from the pilot are different characters from the official series. I miss what they were before. Somehow I think their romance is more believable and equal, revealing so much about their characters in a single song? Like it's just really good. I don't know how else to explain it.

Mustang Dong: A song Blitz is listening to in his car. It's a fun catchy rock song, and the lyrics are downright hilarious. Very befitting of Blitz. Very funny for such a short sequence.

Loo Loo Land: A silly jingle, I laughed with the running gag of "No copyright infringements ever seen." And He did mock Charlie's "Happy Hotel" song which was also pretty funny. It's got references and gags and it doesn't go on for crazy long, I think it's a pretty decent song for the episode, and the context fits perfectly- Stolas enjoying himself like a kid, but Octavia hating every second of it. It's an entertaining plot device- and the character who sings it is gasp- surprise! Involved with our main character Blitzo! What a mystery?!

Moxxie's Bad Trip: This is like an odd opera-poem reading- er... I really don't know the genre it's a bit confusing. Some of the lyrics seem off-tempo while some seem on tempo. The lyrics fluctuate though, between serious to comedic. It's a bit of a messy tone, but I like it. Feels like a classic Helluva Boss song. It's really unfortunate though, because this is Moxie confronting Blitz over his bad behavior, giving Blitz a mysterious nature to himself, a Phantom of the Opera parody- it just has all this unique inspiration and mysterious context- and this is the song where Moxie and Blitz are meant to have a confrontation and grow as people in a character arc- but this whole thing is happening in MOXIE'S HEAD... and they act like it also happened in Blitz's too... so the context is just kinda screwy unfortunately...

CHERUB JINGLE: Silly. It's fine- I actually love it when they harmonize, but it was a little awkward because Cleatus's voice is deep in the official song where in the show its super high pitched- they did the best with what they could, but when I first listened to it I was like "WHO IS THIS MAN???"

IMP JINGLE: Same feelings as above kind of- wish it were IMP singing this though, instead of just some dude. It was written mostly for the pilot so it was rough stuff.

Watcha thinkin bout now?: The first part where it's a country genre is really good and fits- but then we swap to pop, but it's unfitting, it's not funny, kinda takes you out of the scene because it causes tonal dissonance. Despite me adoring the first half, I will admit it has empty lyrics. It's sort of just repeating its title, and is too short to really be considered a full proper song so.... again, love the first half... wish it could have been longer and wish it had more interesting lyrics.

You Got the Power: Random guy singing a song for that weird episode where Moxxie is really out of character and Millie is just screwing around on stage performing for humans. The context is silly since its literally just imps punching and stabbing each other, there isn't really any "power" in a magical sense here, or other sense, I guess... idk, but it's a pretty nice rock song despite the context being bad!

Crashin a Muthafckin Wedding: A countryish kick ass song for Millie at Moxie's wedding to Chaz. I don't like this episode, but the song fits the action scene. It's actually quite decent, all things considered.

Til the Day We Die: A more boring Millie x Moxie song ... I mean hey, at least it HAS Millie in it, so points to that. Just a song about being in love... where the context is jsut bad... preforming for human money to buy street art? Who thunk this up, huh?

Striker's Song: I couldn't hear the VA at all, the music was too loud and he was too quiet. The lyrics are really arrogant and weirdly sinister towards Moxie, it just didn't feel natural, it felt like a forced conflict. I don't see Striker as an overtly arrogant dude, throughout the episode he's definitely competitive but he's rather humble and respectful towards everyone else. Naturally, that's a ruse, but even so... I just don't like this song.

Regular Joe: Millie's first song by herself and it's completely useless. It's just about her being boring and plain, and somehow people love her for it. (looks into the camera like on the office) With the context being she and Moxie are wasting time on a mission that Moxie is supposed to be in charge of. It's just an average song, the VA does a lovely job at least, very pretty voice... interrupted by annoying screaming fans in between the lyrics.

Chaz Time: Still processing this... episode... Chaz is so useless.... I actually couldn't understand the lyrics because his singer was whispering so quietly... maybe the music was louder than it should be?

Look At This: useless lyrics, causes tonal dissonance in the context, makes the other characters look stupid and incompetent, the genre of the song is all over the place, intermixing into techno, heavy metal, pop, opera, etc

Cotton Candy: completely useless lyrics, extremely average-sounding pop, doesn't give us an idea who Beezlebub is or what she really does, the lyrics conflict at certain points

If I missed any, then I probably didn't pay attention to them and therefore probably wouldn't care about them even if I relistened

My faith right now is based on the fact that if sjm really wanted lucien and elain to be mates, then she would do a way better job developing them and would not neglect them for three books straight. Because so far that ship is just unbearably uncomfortable on multiple levels. There is also the fact that i can't figure out what book order would be possible with this line up (like, does it really make sense to have az or mor as the last book's mc? Because elain definitely feels like the next mc. To me the logical thing would be to have az/elain book, then mor novella, then feysand book to wrap things up). There is also sjm saying in one of the latest interviews that no matter how much she tries to plan things years ahead, her characters will still take her where they want. Sorry for the rumbling, ig i am just really trying not to get too upset and believe in the narrative. Anyway, what do you think, should we be worried about something she said way way back then?

There are so many logical holes in that flow of thought (aka. assuming she said it was an Elucien book, assuming she is telling the truth about not changing her mind, assuming BB wanted to buy the spinoffs exactly as she said or just 3 more books in general, etc.)

I think she was contractually obligated to write 3 more books. Who knows what she pitched them as?

What I can tell you is that in the text, there is no mention of Elucien in a positive sense. If she were sticking to Elucien, why did she write it like that? Why did she bring in all these Elriel moments? Why did she send Lucien off on an off page mission in ACOWAR and he was basically never seen again, except to occasionally guest star at Solstice??

I also want to point out that SJM's writing style is "Pantsing" , not "Plotting" (she said it herself). Which means she just rawdawgs writing, no outline, no plotting. Which is insane to me considering how detailed and layered her plot lines are and how long her books are. I genuinely think because of her writing style of not plotting it all out before writing, she is a little unorganized (take it with a grain of salt, as I am an extremely type A person lol). That's why she's retconned plot points, that's why she has a bunch of fragmented storylines with so indication she will wrap them up.

Which means even if she were telling the truth with that comment on Facebook years ago, it's very likely she changed her mind 🤷🏻‍♀️

I do think she's just hyping up the plot point she laid out in ACOMAF with that Facebook comment though. I think she changed her mind on Elucien after ACOMAF, and decided to go an Elriel route while she was writing scenes for ACOWAR and realized Elucien doesn't click at all.

But it's not like she can say "oh yeah I messed up on making them mates" "or sike they won't end up together lol" when someone comments on making elucien mates. That would reveal a huge twist. For example, if you look at her interviews in ACOTAR about FeyLin, she gushes about how great they are. She wasn't going to reveal a giant twist then and she still isn't now 🤷🏻‍♀️

That coupled with her most recent interviews of wanting to pursue a rejected mates storyline make it more obvious to me that she's going for Elriel. I mean, it's clear in the text.

In order for her to make Elucien endgame, she would have to:

Fix the massive distance she created with them in the last 3 books

Fix the burgeoning feelings between Elain & Azriel (no I don't think the BC was an ending to them in any way)

Have Elucien fall in love

Have Elain train her powers (which I don't think Lucien could help her with whatsoever. If anything it's going to be Amren or Azriel)

Have them play a part in the Koschei conflict

And I just feel like that is way too much to cover in one book. Not to mention, the book is going to be dual POV and it doesn't make sense that Azriel is getting all this screen time only for Lucien to get a POV.

I think the last 2 spinoff books will follow:

1. Elain & Azriel: They will have forbidden romance trope, rejected mates storyline, maybe something to do with Dusk Court, and they will have some small Koschei conflict but will not defeat him.

(Like we really don't get introduced to Koschei much until the end of ACOSF. They don't defeat Koschei, they just temporarily foil his plans. I think we'll get something like that again for Elriel's book. There will be a Koschei showdown but it won't be the end of him)

2. Lucien & Vassa: Lucien, fresh off his rejected bond will, will fall for a new LI in this book to wrap up his happy ending. I feel like it's Vassa because the whole "Bird of Flame & Lord of Fire" thing, but admittedly I don't have much evidence. I think together with the IC, they will finally defeat Koschei in this book and address the Autumn Court power struggle. Lucien will find out his parentage and he and Vassa will live happily ever after. I know he's Helion's son, but I think it's poetic that formerly Human-hating Lucien will fall for the human queen and stay with her over moving into Day Court.

And maybe she'll have a novella after maybe not. Idk. All I know is she was planning on 3 books after ACOWAR. We already got ACOSF, so I can only see a plan for 2 more so far.

I don't think Mor will get a book tbh. I haven't seen SJM write LGBTQ+ romances as her main characters. She kinda just sprinkles them in for diversity (ahem Fury x Juniper). I don't think Amren & Varian will get a book. There's just not much there, like they're already together. I don't know who else would be relevant enough to get a book.

Plot-wise, I don't think SJM will address the Illyria conflict thing either. It was a plot point to show unrest, but that's it. I don't see her writing an entire book about Azriel/Emerie "saving" it. I also don't think she's going to deep dive into Autumn Court power struggle either. I literally think it will just be Beron will die in Lucien's book and Eris will finally take over. I don't think she will write an entire book on healing journeys and she won't write an entire book on Tamlin's court in spring.

That's just my prediction, so we will just have to wait and see what happens!

Review: I know everyone saw the ages ago probably read the books. My ex when it came out gave me a play by play line by line at the line trashing it cause that’s her crazy British style she LOVES hating on things. I’m sick today and she kept bothering me about just giving this movie a try so she can hear me give it a good trashing. But I didn’t actually hate it. Don’t particularly love it but try to keep in mind I am hella grumpy Jenny with a headache bigger than the state of Alaska. So let’s… just do a pros cons

Pros:

1. I really liked how they did the emails ldr scene where Alex was doing his thing and Henry was a ghost.

2. Alex’s man boobs were hot

3. Decent chemistry with fun music to emphasize this. I liked the stair hug when Henry was overwhelmed. It was genuinely heart warming.

Cons:

1. I miss England. I felt like we got to know Alex so extremely well but Henry? Not really. I think his scenes with his sister were supposed to help but idk I wanted to know his fear of commitment better before his runaway game. Also could have shown some English stuff that isn’t a garden or the fact they use the word trousers instead of pants. 🤷🏻‍♀️

2. The… southern accents. Bad. Idk what they think Austin is.

3. There were times I was hella bored. I felt like those scenes would have been better reworked to show us a better picture of Alex and Henry without eachother so we can see how they benefit together. I liked their together scenes.

Conclusion I won’t watch it again. But it was interesting enough to keep my attention. I think I’m a bit too spoiled with my Thai Bl’s because I want to understand characters and have a little bit more time as enemies to lovers. I won’t put this movie on that list but I feel like the creators would have wanted it to be on that listen instead of opposite attract. But Alex and Henry instantly liked eachother which takes the fun out of things.

You know abt four new naruto episodes that will release in September, what do you think they will be about? Do you think it would have anything to do with Boruto, or just a couple of fillers for fun or a short side story or will it cater specifically to the ships (nh/ss)?

Also, do you find it weird how they're dragging the old Naruto series back? Like are they purposely releasing episodes from the old series to bring back any fans of the original series? Considering that Boruto is doing real bad they might think of catering towards the old fans and try to win them back?

Maybe I'm speaking trash and rubbish but I can't help but feel apprehensive but excited at the same time with the release of these eps. Like what is SP planning? I can't help but feel suspicious (It's sp after all).

Anyway, will you watch them? Or wait for the reviews to see if it's worth it and then watch it or not? I can't decide myself if it would be worth my time.

I saw a bit ago that the episodes are postponed because of quality issues? 

They constantly have these now apparently? I remember the little bits and pieces I saw from the Anime-adaptations from that filler-novel and everyone blamed it on the many (MANY) interns that worked on it, but honestly? It just showed the company didn't care- which in that case I understand lol... but for these 4 episodes???? I hope they bring in some experience and quality.. we all deserve it ;-; and so does Kishimoto. 

(Also I don't like that new art-style, they don't even look like themselves..) 

Me complaining about that aside, I believe they said it'll be about "team" 7 going on a mission without Kakashi and Naruto being the leader or something. That's all I know but even that could be wrong. 

Idk if they want to bring back the old fans for the sake of grasping for some success that possibly could go to 'Boruto'. I don't believe that's the case because 'Boruto' genuinely became the laughing stock of Anime. Everyone's rightfully making fun of it 😆 they've done everything to make it as bad as possible and disrespect what was already there... it's too late to beg for the 'Naruto'-fans to now suddenly support the damn thing and put up a middle finger to their own nostalgia. Absolutely not. 

It may have been an idea simply because the big three would run at the same time- which to me is kinda cool. But that's just me being hopeful and having my glass half full. It also said Kishimoto is supervising it..... but that doesn't say much if SP claims that. They often use his name for marketing purposes only. So, I share your concerns Nonee... I'm excited but worried at the same time that they'll try to do some damage control or have an underlying motive 🤷🏻‍♀️ We know they constantly do so when they have the chance as long as it is profitable without any concern for the original story.

I’m really bad about writing. I can’t reread what I wrote or I’ll hate it and never work on it again. I’m too self conscious about it. I need to work on that because my writing style can get a bit rushed and I feel like I need to reread to space things out better but we’ll see 🤷🏻‍♀️

Part of me really wants to write a mafia au but idk how good of a writer I am with incredibly dark content, that’s my worry. I’ve incorporated dark content, to an extent, but it’s never a main focus. I have too many ongoing stories and only 1 posted 😂😂

ah, yeah, that sounds frustrating. i feel like the only way to get comfortable with darker writing, especially, is to work it over in drafts. at the very least, for sensitivity purposes. to be honest, that might help with the self-consciousness stuff, too? but maybe not.

in my experience, first drafts are always going to be a little messy, even if you polish as you write. for intense smut and action scenes in collateral, i proofread around 4 or 5 times. sometimes more lol. and that is not to say it's perfect; i bet i could open any chapter and feel the urge to edit. but i am really proud overall, personally, and for me, the multiple drafts really helps because it gives me a chance to fine-tune a lot of details.

like, beta readers are helpful, but they can only do so much.

but that may not work for everyone, so i don't want this to seem like it's me suggesting this is the only way for things to be. it is just the way i kind of got over those similar feelings about my own writing. (but i also write a ton. i've been writing poetry and small prose pieces that are not posted publicly for like...........no joke, 20 years.)

A sunny day finally! It made the first day of classes a lot more pleasant. (This is my attempt to get a photo of my campus while still keeping it somewhat anonymous/unidentifiable.)

First day of the semester was a success! I mean, the only actual "class" time I had was approximately half an hour of a lab where the prof was just going over things. But I got lots of other useful things done like exploring the campus and getting a parking permit, student ID and some of my textbooks. And a new mechanical pencil! (Since it was barely more expensive than just buying the case of lead on its own.) And then I went to the mall (an actual indoor mall! I can't even remember the last time I was in one of those. It was a surreal experience, I felt the urge to buy early aughts style clothes even though I didn't actually want any. The even scarier part is that it's been long enough that those trends are back in stores so I probably could have. 👵🏻💀) to get a new phone case and screen protector, so it was a very Productive Day.

But the exciting part is that it turns out that I will be able to fit some dance classes into my schedule after all! I had given up on the idea, but as I was exploring I found the dance studios and when I looked into one of the empty studios I started to cry. Studios have always felt like a... not sacred space exactly, but there is something hollowed about them, a world unto themselves. (This one was particularly new and gorgeous too, huge with both wood and marley flooring; they also use it as a black box theater type performance space.)

I have missed dancing, more than I'm even aware of most of the time. I feel so disconnected from my body, and so weak and stiff, I don't know what it will feel like to move again. So having a regular weekly, all level class, with new teachers, will be a good way to ease back in.

The reason I was so confused about the schedule is that the dance department has no overall schedule of their offerings, so I was having to look up each class individually and then go into section details, which made it hard for me to figure out what even the options were, but I finally just spent time copying them all into a calendar so I could see which ones didn't overlap with my other classes. And there are three options that look good, Dance Conditioning, Jazz, and Contemporary. I would love to do a nice calm beginning ballet class to ease back into things, but alas that one conflicts with my necessary classes. So I probably will do Dance Conditioning, and then either Jazz or Contemporary, since they're one after the other and I don't think I can handle four hours of dance at this point, since I'm so out of condition. Tomorrow (today, it's already today, I should go to sleep) I will go check them all out and talk with the teachers some more.

There is also a fitness center and a pool at the Wellness Center, which I'm going to try to use. They do it a weird way, where to be able to use the fitness center you need to sign up for a class, and then you can drop in anytime. Same for the pool, it's a separate class, but you can go to any of the open lap lane hours. Which is fine, I'm willing to pay, but the annoying part is you have to go a certain number of hours in order to pass the "class." Which for the fitness center averages out to four hours a week. And that is way more than I want to go, especially with three to four hours of dance and potentially swimming on top. And I'm only in the city four days a week. My plan was maybe an hour a week tops. But I really want to take advantage of these resources, especially because I'll have evenings to kill while I'm waiting for rush hour to die down. So I've decided to sign up for both and then plan on failing the classes. Or dropping them at the last minute. Unless there's a way to cheat and record more hours than I do 🤷🏻‍♀️

Even if I don't end up doing all (or any) of those, I will get a lot more movement in my days than I have been. The campus isn't big, but it is built on very hilly terrain and there are so. many. stairs. Inside and out. I got in 8,000 steps today without even trying.

I also got a pretty new notebook at Target so I can start irregularly journaling again. I'd been avoiding buying one because I'm pretty sure I have several empty or barely started ones somewhere in my apartment, but I have no idea where.

With all these new things added in to my schedule, I don't know how much BL I'll end up watching, or having the time to write about. Hopefully I can still do at least some of both, but I have to remember that school is my priority. And this time I WILL finish out the semester.

F is for Fight:

So, you might argue with Shalnark from time to time, but I don’t think it’s possible to really “fight” with him. The man just doesn’t get angry. On the positive side, when you two disagree about something, you can talk it out with him rationally and he’s totally willing and able to change his mind if you make a good argument. On the negative side, if you’re in a bad mood and pissed at him and you’re just trying to get a rise out of him, you won’t have that satisfaction.

J is for Jealousy:

Shalnark is jealous in the old-fashioned sense of the word. He low-key feels like you belong to him, and he’s not going to let some stranger mess with his stuff. If people to him are like toys and puppets, you’re basically a prize collector’s item, never removed from box. He trusts the other Spiders not to break you, so it’s fine if you’re close to any of them - as long as you’re not getting in anyone’s way or asking questions you shouldn’t. However, once you start getting serious with Shal, you might notice a lot of your friends and family calling you out of the blue to say they don’t want to see you anymore, or even straight-up ghosting you. It sucks, but people just grow apart I guess. 🤷🏻‍♀️

W is for Wild Card:

When you’re spending time together, I could see Shalnark wanting you to sit in his lap. It keeps you close, and it just feels really good to hold you since you’re so cute and soft. He might be annoying about it sometimes - like, tickle you if you look like you’re concentrating hard, or start reading your book aloud over your shoulder. It’s all in good fun though! If you’re really mad, he’ll stop (buuuut he’s probably not sorry, fwiw).

lex i want to say that you agreeing with me about steve being avoidant-dismissive attachment made me feel so validated. i’ve seen him written as anxiously attached (not blatantly stated but obvious) more often than not and i’m always like are we thinking about the same steve or

BUT I will stand on this hill with you! I can kinda see both interpretations, but I personally def see him as more avoidant. that boy has probably never had genuine affection or love or stability in his life. (where the fuck are his parents? even when he’s in high school they’re like, apparitions on the tertiary at best. what example does he have of relationships being healthy and safe and trustworthy?) and then the one time he thought he found all of that, he was called bullshit and it reinforced all of those “don’t trust love and kindness it’s a TRAP” thoughts! (I could also talk about how him adopting the King Steve persona served to keep his true self private and keep people from getting to know the real him— can’t get hurt if no one knows you well enough to hurt you 🤷🏻‍♀️)

I see him withdrawing a lot. those walls are rock solid. he just stuffs everything in and down and doesn’t touch it so that way, everyone thinks he’s perfectly fine, thank you very much. touching that wound with someone else would require him to believe he’s loved and that’s not in his wheelhouse anymore. (that made me sad to type, fuck.) he loves his friends and the nuggets and all of that, would die for them (mayybe a little too eagerly BUT that’s another post!), but he keeps everything at an arm’s length.

Like, totally unique, I'm yet to find another pedro blog that does what you do. You bravely expose the toxic "fans" who go around the internet spreading rumours as true facts and you also post useful info, your anons help you w/ that and they are fucking awesome too, and your tarot readings??? I mean, you write them in such a respectful, coherent way. Your aproach to the whole thing is just super classy. A+ content in this blog, for real. And as far as my personal observation about pedro: how "dual" the man is! Like, not just in his behavior but physically too! his eyes are both tender but also intense, they pass sweetness but also dominance, his face features too, very masculine but there's some femininity in them, his mannerisms too, sometimes he is more delicate, other times more "rough", his voice also flutuates, I have heard him speaking both soft and deeper, his way of dressing too, in his personal life he dresses as the average straight man (I'm not saying he's straight, I just couldn't come up with a better word) and on events he plays with camp style, in his work, he delivers both sensivitness and toughness SUPER well with his characters... I'm keeping the Taurus Rising and the Aries Moon and the Aries Mars. I refuse. Him being an Aries Moon makes too much sense and the Taurus Rising fits him and his houses too imo 🤷🏻‍♀️ And have you seen his temper? How showy, ready for anything and intrusive he is? How determined he was to get back that spur and beat Caleb? Aries Mars.

However, I had to get rid of the Leo Sun bc yes it fits him but Leo Suns Mercury can only be Leo, Virgo or Cancer and even tho he could be a Leo Mercury I just can't see the other two. At all. And his Venus could only be a virgo, leo, libra, gemini, cancer and I just can't see this intense, leather clad vampire being any of those. Meanwhile, a Sag sun gives us a Sag, Scorpio or Capricorn Mercury and a Sag, Aquarius Capricorn, Scorpio, or Libra Venus.

I'm sticking with a Sag Sun and Mercury. Sagittarius are known for being more goofy and they're more aloof and dont get involved unless it's funny to them meanwhile Leo will fight you over anything from them to their family and do take things more seriously. They're like a water and fire sign mixed together while a Sagittarius is like a fire and air sign mixed together and Aries is just straight fire. I could see both for Sev, actually, but he feels too playful and flirtatious and adventurous to not have a Sagittarius Mercury in there so Sagittarius sun it is. Besides, Sagittarius loves adventure and moving around while Leo tends to like the comforts of their home. It makes sense him living on the road and putting himself in danger constantly as a Sagittarius rather than a Leo. Besides, if we're being blunt all the fire signs have a level of arrogance to them, not just Leo. So we can't use his confidence as an argument here.

Scorpio Venus because they are known to like to wear or be attracted to leather, lace, black clothing. I mean, they are the goths of the zodiac especially Venus aka your lovers, how you love and your style. Intense, Passionate, Playful from his other placements, Possessive. hey em !

i am still new to writing reader insert fics. i like to keep descriptions as neutral as possible. the only thing i describe are the clothes, which are not of a particular shape (because every body shape is beautiful and no one should feel ashamed). can you give me tips on how to write while making sure the readers see them in the fic?

First off, I want to preface everything I’m about to say with this: I’m just one person with a lot of opinions mostly fueled by caffeine and hot air. I’m not an expert, I just care a lot and think about this probably too much. I’m a fat white woman with a lot of feelings, and I’m still learning a lot about how to create inclusive environments. This is a process that will never end, and that’s important to recognize from the start. There’s always more to educate oneself on.

With that in mind, here are my thoughts.

I think the first thing to realize is that not everyone is going to be able to see themselves in any given fic. This could be for any number of reasons, from a character not meshing with their own personality to something like not enjoying the relationship depicted, etc. When we write reader insert characters, I want to caution against creating characters that have no depth of personality. Your OCs or Y/Ns or Readers, whatever you want to call them, should still be characters. They have their own thoughts and emotions, they have a history in the world you create, and you’re rendering that into a second person narrative. With that in mind, there’s an extent to which some characters will just not vibe with an actual reader’s personality or life story. That happens! It just is what it is.

For this same reason, it’s going to be really hard to please everyone when we write any physical description, simply because everyone is different beyond just body size, skin color, etc. For example, I often talk about an OC’s soft textured flesh, but I don’t often talk about an OC having soft skin. This is because I’ve got a medical condition called psoriasis and I don’t have super soft skin a lot of the time because of it. Sometimes when I’m reading a fic, I’ll be put off by a description of smooth or soft skin because, well, that’s not how my own lived experience has been. That’s not the writer’s fault!! I’m not saying that we should stop describing skin at all. I AM saying that there’s an extent to which we will never be able to please anyone when we try to make accommodations.

That said, there are obvious things we should accommodate when we write what we call “Neutral Reader Insert Characters.” The big ones are skin color, hair texture, and body size. Frankly, these are all pretty easy. To start, I just don’t mention hair at all if I can avoid it. Nothing about styles or anything, nothing about color or softness, etc. Just leave it out 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s not a big deal to do that. When it comes to skin color, I think the most obvious one is talking about what happens to a characters when they’re embarrassed. Making the switch to saying a character’s face heats, rather than flushes red, is a really easy change. It’s small details like that that make a huge difference. Staying away from descriptions of a character being rosy or pale also matter. There are so many other ways to describe heated or high emotions; embracing that can make you more creative, effective, and inclusive with your depictions. It's a worthwhile thing to work on.

Body size is kind of my baby, so it’s the one I’ve got a little more to say about. Remaining vague about outfits, like you’ve mentioned, is a good place to start! Avoiding comparisons of size to other characters is also important, as with the anon who wrote in earlier about being insert characters being tiny. Perhaps most important is keeping in mind that there are physical limitations to what can happen larger or taller bodies. A fat person is not likely to be tossed around or picked up in smut scenes or otherwise, and a tall person is not going to necessarily look up into the eyes of another character. A larger person is not going to be able to borrow clothes from another character unless they’re also large. Namjoon or Jin could wear extra large tees that they’ll swim in, but if I put the shirt on, it’s going to be tight across my belly and probably look really fucking weird, and I’m a size 18 or so for most dresses. There are people bigger than me in the world, just as there are people who are smaller. Even the idea of having lacy underthings can take someone out of a fic, tbh, because they are simply not an option for so many bodies.

Now, this is going to be annoying of me, but confronting these issues is more of a matter of mindset, I think. You have to allow yourself to set the scene in a different way, without relying on detailed descriptions of what’s happening to the Reader with regards to their appearance. Focusing on how they’re feeling in what they’re wearing for example, or what emotions they’re experiencing as they go through the world you’ve built, the emotions they feel about the people they’re interacting with, etc. Deemphasizing the physical and moving into the emotional … like idk that’s really the best advice I’ve got. In all honesty, I think it forces us to write better characters, and that’s absolutely not a bad thing.

All of that said, it helps to read a lot of fics and PAY ATTENTION while reading. You’ll start picking up on exclusive language if you’re willing to keep an eye out for it. Now, this isn’t license to start going and picking on people for not writing inclusively. Far from it! Don’t do that!! Not when you’re trying to learn how to be a better writer, and really, like you don’t need to be the person to bring someone else down. Talking to someone about being inclusive is something that should happen before posting. It happens with beta-reading, it happens with drafting a story, it happens with self-education before a writer even puts fingers to a keyboard. It’s a process, and it takes practice.

As I said at the beginning, this process is unlikely to ever be finished. I think frequently about the disabled folks that read fics, and wonder how I might start to accommodate them as well, for example. The reality is that not everyone will be able to sink into a fic, and that’s just how it is. That’s why we should encourage more people to write when they feel the urge, so that some part of their life may be represented to others, so that we can all learn from each other. I think that’s very valuable. I really want to, but I will never be able to accommodate the great expanse of human experience when I write reader insert fics. And maybe that’s hyperbolic or foolhardy to say, but I think that’s why writing from one’s experience is so important. Sharing a part of yourself like that is a gift, and fics are a perfect medium for that. They don’t ask to be considered high art or something worthy of deep analysis, even if they’d hold up to it. They just ask for a bit of your time.

Now, okay, I’ve written a lot and there’s still so much more I could talk about. I’ve said nothing about what issues there are with the depiction of the members of BTS and the actual world building at play when we write, both of which can also pull readers out of fics. I’m going to link a few things that’ll hopefully help with this, below but I’ve got a few lingering thoughts I want to mention before I wrap this up:

Do your due diligence when it comes to your setting. A member is not going to refer to himself as Min Yoongi if he’s in the United States. It’s going to be Yoongi Min. Fraternities don’t exist outside of the US, and city transit looks radically different in different parts of the world as well. Things like that can really show whether or not you actually did any basic research about what you’re writing and they make a difference. Really, that’s all what that comes down to; we have to actually make sure we educate ourselves and keep an open mind so that we’re always learning.

Maybe that’s optimistic of me, or naive; I’d rather be ready to learn and sit with shit as needed than be stuck and stagnant. Is it such a bad thing for a white writer to work to be inclusive? Some people make it seem that way, and I don’t fucking get it.

@btssavedmylifeblr has a list she’d compiled of writing advice asks she’s answered and they’re all amazing. She’s where I first started learning about being more inclusive with regards to writing reader inserts, so I’d definitely give her blog a look.

There may come a time where I’ve got more resources on this topic but right now it’s all a bit sparse. Reader insert fics are still niche, all things considered, even if they’re a not insignificant part of the fan fiction in this fandom. At some point, I’ll be sure to put together a better resource sheet for new writers, because, well, someone has to. I have no problem with that being me.
