What is conceptual understanding in PHE?
Lynn Erickson (2012) defines concept-based curriculum and instruction as a three-dimensional framework that links/connect content and skills with (disciplinary) concepts, generalizations and principles. The critical elements that require a concept-based approach are; intercultural understanding and international-mindedness, practical application of knowledge in real-life situations {transfere…

still mad about this post lol so let me also say: “they taught us critical thinking in english class” is extra funny to me because there’s a genuine debate among Ed Heads about whether “critical thinking” as a discrete and decontextualized skillset can actually be taught :) so it’s pretty silly to go around confidently branding yourself as a critical thinker while simultaneously revealing that you’re extremely comfortable making assumptions about the relative simplicity of complex ideas which remain contested in their respective fields :) personally i would be pretty embarrassed to call myself a critical thinker if i also couldn’t stop myself from revealing i was totally lacking in the intellectual humility that would enable me to understand that we have yet to reach consensus on unbelievably complicated issues like how best to educate an entire population :) but i guess i was absent the day that tenth grade english covered running your mouth like an asshole on social media :)

if i see one more person in this tag mention that hunter and willow is a "straight-passing relationship" when talking about their bi and pansexuality, i will come to your house and remove all the doors from your cabinets
edit: y'all i like the fucking ship, i am complaining about people saying "straight-passing" like that's an appropriate term to use when discussing representation

im sooooo sick of neopagans thinking they invented stuff that literally every religion thats not modern american evangelicalism already has 💀 i dont care if u want to light candles in ur bedroom or whatever, but even when youre swinging at “normie” religions ur still missing like okay catholics LOVE altars. jewish liturgy celebrates moon cycles. whatever youre trying to articulate about an all encompassing divinity of universal love was probably said in verse by a persian muslim centuries ago. your american christian/atheist background is a huge outlier in the global history of religion: it’s not even that you’re missing some niche exception, it’s literally that your entire perspective on “organised religion” is based on an outlier 💀

Don't talk to me; I'm still recovering from the fact that the first computer-synthesized voice to sing in 1961 - the IBM 704 - sang Daisy Bell, a love song.

i was looking back at my old knitting posts to check on a thing and like yeah i really did just rocket right up the knitting skill tree over the course of a few months. no wonder i'm convinced i can knit literally anything i've spent ten minutes reading and watching videos about.
my personal knitting trajectory is that i learned to knit at age 8, stopped knitting at age 16 or so, and did not knit anything more complex than circular knit legwarmers with mild shaping at that time (so i could make rectangles and tubes and slightly widen the tubes). (ok i also did one lace scarf for about four inches but it was very bad.) then i got back into it at the end of college, and my projects were lace cowl > multiple stranded colorwork hats > socks on dpns > elaborately cabled sweater (which i finished only the back and half a sleeve of, admittedly, and am now picking up again) > most of a beaded lace crescent shawl in the span of, like, five months. and then a bunch of other shit after that! i literally can just learn to knit whatever the fuck i want, that's just uncontroversially true. what a fantastic hobby

“this story is confusing, it doesn’t make sense, i don’t get it” maybe you need to relax and just listen first before demanding immediate simple answers. maybe you need to feel the vibe instead of brute force logic-ing your way through a story driven by pathos. anyway “[movie] ending explained” kills art and interpretation

when at the library today i picked up a book abt typography to pick up some more theoretical skills there and to no one's surprise it pretended that european languages were the only languages in the world which like whatever i'll still learn what principles it has to teach and then try to reverse-engineer applications to cn font design based on what i know.
despite not trusting the english-language resources available online to be as in-depth or technical as i desire, i got curious and googled "chinese typographic design" anyway n scrolling through the introduction to the first result, you can kind of tell it's not written with a chinese-speaking audience in mind, or at the very least an audience with some semblance of chinese cultural sensitivities bc its section headed by the words "navigating the simplified and traditional divide" goes on to basically say it's an Aesthetic Decision which. well. is certainly a way to pretend you're avoiding politics.

A dumb lil headcanon I have is that Yamato was assigned Naruto’s legal guardian in shippuden. (And that before it was Hiruizen, then Kakashi, then Jiraiya) just for convenience because he’s watching over Naruto all the time anyways.
oh god. sorry my response got really long but the fact is anyone even breathes a word of yamato being fatherly to naruto and i lose my shit and start beating my fist against the earth sobbing and shaking and etc.
now TO BE FAIR. i think if anyone should be naruto's legal guardian it should probably be iruka because iruka was the one who took care of naruto when naruto needed it most, and canonically naruto thinks of iruka as a father figure so much that he like, asks him to act as his father at his wedding, and he has this whole moment as a kid
THAT SAID. i like ur ask, and when it comes to the idea of legal responsibilities, i find the idea of Yamato being granted (even temporary) guardianship over Naruto to be extremely funny and entertaining.
i think yamato would personally take a lot of pride in that and really enjoy it. i think he would love nothing more than to have a practical, obligatory tie to enable him in his desire to take care of the people he loves. i also think that he would be obnoxious about it, at least a little bit. partially because his sense of humor is a little weird, and partially because he has no idea how to act as a guardian figure.
like i think he'd say shit like "bedtime! that's an order!" and naruto would be like "oh, piss off!" and then yamato would use his scary face and naruto would get even more frustrated, and the whole time yamato would be like "wow, naruto is a great kid (if a little disobedient!) and this is such a fun game we are playing, even if it tires me out :)"
unfortunately i think, out of all the guardian/mentor figures that naruto has had, (sandaime, iruka, kakashi, jiraiya, tsunade, those elderly frogs, yamato...) i think yamato is the one he is least close with, and would least like to be a permanent fixture in his life.
i'm not saying that he doesn't like yamato, just that...i would be really surprised if there's a point after yamato gets captured, where naruto is like "man, we should really save yamato!" y'know?
i could be wrong! i haven't gotten there yet. but like. i'm not anticipating it. thats okay tho i love naruto and hes got a lot going on.

Im awake again and i'm still feeling emboldened so fuck it. Posting my Postal 1 self insert, Buck
He works at a local record and CD store Dude frequents, having moved out of his hometown after a pretty bad break up and now looking to find something to keep his brain occupied from the admittedly impulsive decision. To keep with the more simple designs in Postal 1 (cause they had tiny models to work with) he just wears a black shirt, brown belt, some rolled up jeans (the fun of being short as hell), and a pair of black snow boots. Additional accessories for the art being a beaded bracelet and the lanyard he keeps his keys on. (Cause he kept. Losing the ones that didn't come on one)
He met Dude on his first day at work cause his other coworkers didn't want to deal with his 'weird' behavior, so he got sent to approach him instead and the two got along surprisingly well. They're kind of a "Opposites attract when you first see them but they're actually pretty alike" cause Buck is good at masking his anxiety but the two are able to bond over their sense of looming fear and trying to cope with that. He also tends to flatter and bump up Dude a lot, kind of sensing he doesn't have much self worth and wanting to make him feel appreciated.
(Also written out text below because my hand writing is bad </3 plus a bonus "the artists i think he listens to")
Postal 1 vision
Sometimes grows his hair out.
Coworkers sent him to talk to Dude cause they didn't want to / They actually got along well / Like 4'9" - 5'0"
From up north, not used to heat :( / Got locked out of work (again)
Also paranoia prone, just better at hiding it.
(sadly some of my favorites are post 97 but we make it work-)

the idea of linebeck having a rabid special interest in shellfish is kinda funny imagine being link having never seen an actual fish in your life and all of a sudden you’re in some ocean that has actual fish and as you’re adjusting to this you now have to process that there are also these really weird looking kinds of sea creatures too and the guy you’re traveling around with literally cannot be normal about them
