I guess I’ll give my two cents on Mammals since I post so much about Merlin and watched it cause of Colin
I’m demisexual, so any show where sex and infidelity are the main plot points is going to make my experience of the show a bit strange. I genuinely can’t put myself in the shoes of the characters because I can’t feel the things they feel, so in a way I’m the worst and best person to ask the opinion of.
From a production standpoint (acting, writing, etc), I thought it was fine.
Colin’s back probably hurts like hell from carrying the show, but no one gave a bad performance.
The writing is predictable, but it’s not trying to be anything special. It’s a talking piece. They’re trying to open up the discussion of infidelity in modern day because it’s such a common conflict between people. Again, I can’t relate at all being ace-spectrum, but that doesn’t mean I don’t see what they’re going for.
Yeah, it’s a bit on the weirder side with some of its choices, namely Colin’s wife being off in la la land for half the show, but nothing so crazy or so weird happened that I turned it off.
Is it a masterpiece of cinema? God no, but if you support Colin, and can get over the fact that James Corden is in it, it’s worth a watch just to form your own opinion on it. Colin is fantastic, as usual. He’s one of those actors you could hand a script written by a five year old and he’d still make it look good somehow.
If you’re ace-spectrum and you’re uncomfortable with sexual content, I will say there’s a little bit of that, but nothing super insane like full sex scenes. It’s awkward for me personally cause I see Colin and go “oh that’s Colin, I know a bit about that guy” and then I see him in something where he has to act out sex or intimacy and I’m like “ok I don’t want to see this guy like this” cause when you know about an actor’s real personality or life it can feel like they’re a distant friend. I don’t want to see my friends having sex lol
That’s all I have to say I guess, Colin’s great, that’s all I cared about lmfao

I rather liked Mammals. I don’t know why it’s not getting more love… I guess maybe partly because it’s fashionable to hate James Corden. And yes it was pretty weird. But I liked it I’m not ashamed to say
