Is it millennial of me to complain about the corporate shorthand I'm seeing crop up more and more often on LinkedIn and in cold vendor emails? Like it's one thing if you're talking to someone internally, but I will specifically not entertain cold outreaches that sound like "noticed you have some open roles on your team," "would love to connect," or fucking "for context..." when they've just mentioned the least relevant shit imaginable, the context of which I could never possibly care about. I hate the dropped pronouns. We are not friends or colleagues.

I stared at my laptop, on this wonderful, freezing cold tuesday Feburary morning. It had been a month and a half now, of talking to Cale and growing our friednship. I defintly had a crush on him, but down played it so I wouldn't get hurt. He for sure did not like me. He'd leave eventually, right? Even as a friend.
Cale was picking me up from work today, and planned on taking me out to an early dinner, our 3rd out of the apartment date. The winter had given me a beating, and with Cale being gone most days- it was easy to be alone and not over overexert myself. and not bother him ofcourse.
"Hey are you okay?" Eric asked walking in after seeing mestaring blankly at my email. It was an email from Joe Sakic himself, asking if I wanted to come on board for the community outreach initative program for the Avalnche Organization.
"Um.. look at this." I said turning around my laptop, confused and at a loss for words.
[Dear Eliza James,
I am emailing you in hopes of having you become part of the Colorado Avalanche team. Upon our talks about the game that the wonderful kids were honored at, I was amazed at how much you have a niche for this. We would be honored to have you join our team as the Manager in charge of our Community Outreach Program. We have a wonderful team across the board, and we know you will fit in perfectly. Let us know what you think by March 1st.

"Oh shit, I was wondering when he was gonna send it." Eric said non chalantly, my eyeballs left my socket at his words. "Wait-wait what?" I asked in disbelief and he let out a chuckle, "The night of the game, he was talking to me and what I thought of the idea. I couldn't say no, they were so impressed by your ogranizing of the game that he thought you would make a perfect addition to the team. I say go for it, Liza." he said with a grin. I shook my head, "No, they'll think im too much to work with. Too much to deal with. What happens if I am out for a week? HUH? what then?" I asked rubbing my hands over my face. "I already gave them a run down, besides its illegal to fire somebody over a disability. I will personally remind them myselves after I come over there and take some heads off and maybe drop them off a lawsuit in the process." Eric said, making me laugh. he would do it.
My stomach was in knots, and I was still at a loss for words. "I don't know, I can't leave these kids. I can't leave Martha, my irish babe." I said sadly and he shook his head.
"But you'll reach even more people with your fighting spirit, love." he said grabbing ahold of my shaking hand. "Mmm, we will see. I have until the end of the month to decide." I said feeling my head spin. "Okay, whatever you say honey." he joked. "Besides I can't leave my favorite gay best friend, now can I?" I grinned at Eric who laughed. "I think I might be your only gay friend but anywho, lover boy is waiting at the desk for you." Eric said walking out.
I groaned grabbing my papers and my laptop and putting it in the bag, the email would have to wait.
I walked out into the hallway, saying goodbye to my other friend who is a physical therapist- Mike and my hall buddy. He waved me off as I began to make my way towards the front desk, where Cale was.
As I turned the corner, I saw Cale talking to the front desk ladies and I smiled as I walked up to him. The ladies noticed and smiled at me, and with that Cale turned around. His smile reaching ear to ear, as he did so. "Hi." I mused stopping in front of him, before turning to the front desk ladies. "Goodnight ladies, I will see you bright and early tomorrow." I grinned and they shook there heads, "We will see you at ten am sharp!" one of them joked and I laughed. "Bye now." I said, turning back to Cale who offered to take my bag and I obliged and handed it over to him. "Oh my god, whats in here?" He joked before turning to the ladies, "Thankyou for the tips, Ill be sure to use them. Goodnight!" He said grabbing ahold of my hand and walking out with me. I looked down at his hand and was shocked. No guy had ever held my hand before. Cale sensed my nerves and gave me a comforting smile.
Cale opened the passenger door for me, and waited until I was settled to shut the door and placed the bag behind my seat and jogging over to his side.
"That was quick." I mused and he looked over with a confused face, "You. Jogging. Fast." I said feeling small and then it clicked for him. "Yeah, normal things like that haunt me." I joked pulling my seat belt on as I felt the car turn on. "So how was your day?" he asked pulling out of the loading spot. I shrugged, "it was ok. draining but ok." I said cooly and he nodded. "How was yours? Did Nathan fall a lot today?" I grinned and he laughed. "I will say those notes that Martha gave, have held up. Can't forget EJ reminding him every day." Cale responded making me laugh. "Yes, cannot forget about the reenforncer EJ!"I added causing him to laugh as well. "Where are we going tonight?" I asked as we drove some more through the city.
"Stout Street Social downtown." He responded and I smiled, "You remembered how much I favor brew pub fare over anything anyday." I said taken back by that small little tidbit.
We were at my apartment while Becca was out with some of our friends, and I had given some options from doordash and saw that there was this brew pub and how much I enjoy brew pub food, but it was in passing as we were looking at a thai food place.
"Of course, Eliza. Im excited, we really didn't go to these places growing up so now that I live here -- I definetly enjoy the fare." he mused. "Well, this is all I grew up with. Not gonna lie. So I will give you many options." I joked as we were nearing the restaurant. We pulled into the small lot they had behind the hotel, and parked with Cale gracioulsy taking care of the fee.
We walked side by side, with my walking slower so I wouldn't slip on ice. "Oh my god, im sorry. I should have dropped you off." he said realizing what was going on. I waved him off, as he looped his arm within mine. "Thankyou." was all I could muster out on this cold evening.
We walked inside, and I took notice of the low key and chill atmopshere and knew I was going to enjoy the evening.
The hostess took our coats, and Cale put me in front of him as we walked back towards our table.
Partially out of manners and partially out of being in a spot he could grab her incase she fell down.
Near the back of the brew pub, we sat down and I looked around at the differnt cups and jugs on the wall. "woah." I said looking off into the distance and seeing a deer head. "Wouldn't be the wild west without a deer head." I murmured, which Cale caught and chuckled.
"So many good options." I thought looking down the list, going form appetiziers to main courses, dessert and the alochol list. Nope, no alcohol for me tonight.
"What are you getting?" he asked looking up from his menu. "Hmm, dont judge me though." I said shyly. "Never, I could never judge you Eliza." he said. That warmed my heart a tad bit. "Im getting the chicken tenders..." I trailed off staring at the table as he started to chuckle. I looked up and took in his demanor, "NO judgment here, that's what I got the first time I came here." He mused and I sighed, rubbing my hands under the table together. "You gotta have a go to meal, right? A safe option." he joked as the waitress came up to take our orders.
We ordered our dinner, as well as a veggie hummus platter and our drinks.
"Nate would be so proud of me right now." Cale said as the waitress walked away. "What do you mean?" I asked confused. I had never met the dude outside of the few times at work I've seen him, or the game. "Veggies are kind of his thing. he's a freaking health nut and will go off on people if they don't take care of themselves during the season." He explained and I grimaced. "Well that's shitty." I said without thinking, "I mean like, its your body your choice on what you do with it. nobody elses."I explained and Cale nodded. "I guess, but he means well." Cale said and I nodded, "Besides isn't your name being Kale enough?" I joked and he nodded. "Clearly not." He mused.
that still irked me though, what an ass.
The night continued with them cracking jokes, learning more about one another and was filled with Eliza's very sarcastic comments. She had to explain more than once, that she was not being mean. She didn't mean anything in a negetive way.
"Just ask Becc-" I froze as my knees cracked as I stood up. "Fuck." I mumbled and Cale's eyebrows crinkled trying to figure out was wrong. "Sorry, I am very stiff right now. I sat too long." I said groaning, taking slow steps out of the tables and into the walk way.
Cale stood behind me, pressing a small hand to my back.
"All good, take your time." he said as we neared there way to the coat check.
"Great people are staring." I mumbled fighting back tears. People always did this. They stared because I seemed like I was drunk, because of how unstable I was.
We got to the coatcheck, and I threw my coat half on with my scarf and walked out the door.
Cale threw his coat on, and went out after her. Despite her walking slowly, she was halfway down the street, about to turn the corner to the parking lot. He picked up a light jog to catch up to her.
"Eliza-" I cut him off, "I would like to go home now." I said exhausted and on the verge of tears. He nodded looping my arm in his and walking the rest of the way to his car.
Once I settled in, he shut my door and went to his side. I looked out the window and internally sighed. I hated being looked at like I was something out of place in society, or that I had something severely wrong with me.
I didn't say anything for a few minutes,and Cale respected my silence.
We made our way to my apartment building, the minutes winding down on this evening.
He pulled into parking garage and parked in a guest spot, and waited a few minutes to speak.
"They always look at me like im drunk." I confessed as he looked at me. "They've always looked at me like im a freak because I can't walk properly. But until they go through what I have gone through, they would be amazed at how I even have the ability to walk like I do." I said heatedly unbuckling my seat belt.
"And I am sorry you had to see everybody look at us, I am sorry. It's uncomfortable. I get it, if you dont want hang out with me anymore. Since, this is what you are in for." I sighed getting ready to hop out.
"Eliza, wait.” Cale said softly and I looked back at him with fear rising, searching his face for anything. Any inkling at what he might be thinking.
"First up, I am sorry that people stare at you. I am, I am sorry that you have had to deal with people staring at you for a long time. It is not right. And Secondly, I don't care. I get looked at all the time, maybe for different reasons but neverthless, I don't care. All I cared about was you in that moment. That's it, so hell with them. Thirdly, I want to continue to hang out with you. I want to continue being your friend. Especially if you come work with us-" I cut him off. "You knew about that?" I said in disbelief. He nodded, "Yeah Joe told me and everybody else that was there that he had offered you a position. Everybody including myself was excited about the potential oppurtunity to work with you. We saw how much passion you had with the kids at The Pavillionand we want that somehow, someway with us. Also, you are pretty hilarious if you ask us. Somebody's gotta come in hot with small remarks and just leave." He said grinning.
My heart sofetned and I nodded.
"I dont know cale, you're just saying that to be nice to me." I said trying not to buy his words.
He shook his head, "No, I am being genuine Eliza. I want you to be in our lives. I want you to be in my life." he said honestly. I bit my lip looking down, "I don't know Cale, im just like not used to being wanted that's all." I said holding back tears. "And having what I have, makes you isolated so im sorry for having a hard time believing you." I said feeling rather uncomfortable now. He nodded, doing something that I never thought any guy would do.
He grabbed ahold of my hand and gave me a smile, "I like you Eliza. I like you, all of you." he said and that broke my heart. I shook my head, "No. you barely know me, you like the idea of me, you like the idea of possibly 'fixing' me and you'll get bored and annoyed so easily, Cale. You'll see my limitations and see that you have no life with me. No friendship with me. I just know it." I barely got out before grabbing my bag from the back seat and getting out of the car.
He can't like me, there's no way in hell. I pressed the elevator with my key chain and it opened allowing for me to step inside and shut it quickly. I walked out into the hall as it got to the 8th floor ready to cry.
I opened my door to Becca eating some icecream, and as soon as she saw my face she dropped the spoon and came over.
She wrapped her arms around me, pulling me close.
"Oh no, E what happened?" She questioned, pulling back and inspecting me. I let out a sob, with her pulling me back in.
"I told him that he doesn't have a future with me B. I told him he will see my limitations and that he wouldn't want somebody like me." I said into her shoulder and she rubbed my back. "How about I turn on the shower, get your favorite pj's and some hot coco ready?" she questioned as I pulled away. I nodded, wiping my tears and made my way to my bedroom.
Becca's pov:
I watched as E slipped into the bathroom, before pulling out her phone and opening it to Cale's Contact.
I inputted his number into mine and pressed imessage.
[Becca: Hey this is Becca- Eliza's bff and roommate, I heard what happened. She is really torn up about it. Im sorry. Please don't hold this against her. Even if you guys dont talk anymore, please be nice to her if she takes the job.]
I pressed send, hoping he'd get it soon.
[Cale: Hey Becca and yeah I figured. I tried to tell her that what she has doesn't matter and I know that is hard to believe. But believe me, there is so much more to her than her physical strengths and weaknesses. and always, no matter what. Ill always go out of my way for her.]
Awe, he's adorable. He's a good seed.
[Becca: Good. I will try to get more out of her, but yeah, she's never had a guy like her before so this is all new territory for her. Again, Ill try to get her to talk to you. Ill see. shes currently destressing and Ill see how she is later on.]
[Cale: No matter who has and hasnt liked her, I do. I hope she accepts it.]
[Becca: Long shot but I will keep you updated. Again, thanks for getting her home safetly. Now go score a goal tomorrow ;)]
Cale has read and liked the message.
Eliza opened the door, and I turned around ready with icecream and water.
She walked towards me in somewhat of a faze, and I frowned at her apperance.
"Im okay, B. I promise." She said sitting beside me on the bar stool.
"So are you gonna take that job?" I asked curously and she shrugged. "I dont know, probably not." She said with a sad tone. "wait why? That looks like an amazing oppurtunity." I said confused. "I have phenominal health care B. I have to think about that, first off. Secondly, I cant or dont want to leave my kiddos. Martha would be so heart broken. Ive been with her for three years, shes literally my little soul sister at this point. and thirdly, I dont know if I can work around Cale, Espcially not after tonight. Or any of them. There is so many avaibable eyes to judge me. with healthcare, they understand and have understood from the minute I got Eric and the hospital to open the pavillion up." she explained and I nodded. "I love my job, I don't know if I want to leave just left." She added and I nodded wrapping my arm around her.
"Will you still come with me tomorrow?" she asked, "I wouldn't miss tomorrow for the world pretty girl." I responded pulling her in.
Eliza's POV:
I walked in with B to the denver medical center, today was the 10th day of the month, so I was due for my monthly infusion.
A day filled with reading, writing, sleeping and crying.
We sat down in the infusion center that held only one other person due to covid.
"Hi miss blue eyed girl, how are we feeling today?" Marcia, my favorite infusion nurse sweetly inquired.
I shrugged, "pain is a 4 today, but we will see how it goes." I said sighing and sitting back. She smiled softly, "is it me becca or does she always look on the negitive side of things? a 4 is amazing Eliza, that's improvement from last month." She beamed and I nodded holding my tongue as she adjusted all the vitals that she was going to be taking before hand.
Ten minutes later she put a anti histamine in the iv and I felt five minutes later, the immediate overwhelming sensation of exhaustion, feeling like I didn't have any control over my body, a numbness but tingly throughout my body and felt like I was out of my body.
I sighed laying back with Becca holding my hand and offering a comforting smile, "Keep kicking it. It'll be over in no time." she said and I nodded closing my eyes as the exhaustion became too strong to hold off.
[authors note: its so overwhelming, I hated that feeling. It's one I hope for you to never experience.]
Beccas POV:
She was out like a light. Marcia came up beside me and sighed, "even after all these years- it still gets her. so quickly." I nodded in agreemant. "yeah, im afraid it'll never get easier." I mused and she nodded walking away.
About an hour later, my phone buzzed alerting me with a text from Cale.
[Cale: How is she today? She hasn't responded to me.]
[Becca: She's been passed out for an hour. shes currently at the hospital for an infusion, every 10th of the month she has one. I acocmpany her every time.]
[Cale: wow, shes never menitioned it once to me. actually, shes never mentioned anything about her arthritis to me really.]
[Becca: Shes a closed off person, for a reason Cale. This is just one of the many realities of her arthritis. she doesnt let anybody know about the shit she goes through, the amount of doctor appointments that me or her parents take her to. the amount of tests, blood drawings, xrays/pet scans, and these infusions. these infusions kill her. these are one of the worst things she has had to do. and on top of that the daily shit. the nightly sweats that finally stopping, so she's not awoken up every morning with sweat down her back and her sheets soaked. you also have the daily stiffness and joints cracking. the flare up that consist nothing but flu like symptoms but without the vomiting. hows she on multiple medications a day PLUS a monthly infusion. this life isnt pretty, shes a fucking warrior.]
[Cale: christ.]
[Cale: i wish she'd open up to me a bit more, so she wouldn't have to carry all of this by herself.]
[Becca: you and me both. Ill let her know to check her phone, she's beginning to shake the tingles off.]
[Cale: okay good, thanks. tingles?]
[Becca: an un godly amount of allergy medication goes in her system and it knocks her out, makes her shake, she feels numb but has tingly sensations. its wicked scary the first time you see it. every once in a while, her teeth will chatter. im surprised she hasnt gotten chills yet tbh. usually she has them by now. like imagine watching her go through all of this, i cant even imagine going through it myself]
[Cale: could i possbily go with her next time? give you a break? I mean as long as it's okay with Eliza.]
[Becca: we shall see. Like I said, me and her family are the only one's who get to see this side of her. Ill mention it to her and see. Besides, if she hasn't opened up about anything, chances are she wouldn't want you to see her like this.]
[Cale: understandable. let me know, and let her know i had some flowers ordered for her and they will be dropped off to your apartment in a few hours.]
[Becca: so sweet cale, thankyou. she will be appreciative.]
I looked up from my phone to see Eliza beginning to wake up from her uncomfortable but blissful sleep.
"Goodmorning." I said in a playful voice and she smiled, yawning and strecthing.
"Miss sunshine waking up, how are you feeling? need one of us to fetch anything?" Marcia said walking back up and checking her vitals.
All good. "Hmmm, a venti cold brew with vanilla sweet cream sounds delectable." Eliza mused and I laughed looking at Marcia who clapped her hands together.
"Let me get Eric right on it!!" She said pulling out her phone and calling Eric.
"Eric hun, Eliza would LOVE a starbucks right now." Marcia said putting the phone on speaker.
"Oh for the love of christ, James better be grateful im getting up from my very importnant midday nap for this." Eric joked causing Eliza to laugh.
"Thankyou Eric, super thankful for ya." Eliza beamed.
Eliza's POV:
Four hours later we were back at home, around 2 'oclock. We had gone in at 7:45 and had spent the morning getting the oh so beautiful medicine that gives me life, infused in me. oh what fun.
"Oh lookey here, we have a surprise." Becca beamed walking in behind Eliza.
"Wait who are those for?" I asked confused, sitting down at the kitchen counter.
"Here." Becca said handing me the card. I opened it, giving her an eyebrow and saw the note.
[Thinking of you, heard that you had a infusion today and hope everything went well. Let me know how you feel when you can, Cale :)]
"Aweeee." becca sang out jumping up and down.
"You told him?" I asked a little annoyed.
"Eli-" I cut her off, "No, I didn't tell him for a reason. Now, he's really gonna look at me like im severly sick. That I am an issue. People can look at me and not realize I am sick because I have a silent disease Eliza. You may know and he may know, but just by looking at me I seem healthy but Im not and now this is really gonna push him a way." I said tears brimming my eyes as I rambled stressfully.
"Babes, he literally said to reach out when you can, that doesnt look like he's pushing you away." Becca said sympathetically and I shook my head.
"No, remember last time when I opened up to somebody that I thought was a friend? They dropped me within hours, so no." I sighed pushing myself off of the barstool and walking towards me room.
I shut my door, sitting down on my bed and laying down.
I curled into a fetus position and looked at the window overlooking denver.
God, how I wish I could be normal and not have to freak about somebody liking me. Cale is the first friend since I was dropped a year ago, and it terrifies me that he will leave too. That I will show him a part of me that he can never unsee and I don't want to lose him.

I had a pretty hard day. I was not myself enough that my coworkers noticed and pointed it out. It was tough. I am feeling a little better right now in this moment. But it was a hard day to get through.
I fell asleep quickly last night. But I still woke up exhausted. I was glad I didn't have to drive because I felt so out of it. I got dressed and felt fine in my outfit. But I would get hot and cold throughout the day. Which was not comfortable. James would drive us to the museum. Stopping for breakfast. Which helped a little bit not as much as I hoped.
I went and got my program set up. I had first graders from a virtual school today. It would be the first time they were all together in person!! So that was really cute.
They were running late though. So I got to just sit outside and talk to Gaby for a while. I love Gaby. And she had great questions about our honeymoon.
When the kids got there we got them inside. Except it wasn't everyone. Half came with parents in cars and half would come on the bus. While we were waiting for the bus we had them watch a video in the theater. And at 945 we got started for real. 45 minutes late. Which was fine because it meant we got to cut the lights on tour which I hate anyway. And finally, finally, Jessica has decided we are just dropping that part of the program unless we need it (because of schedule or by request).
I had a great time with my group. When they first got together it was hugs and "you're taller in real life!!" And it was super cute.
And they did a good job! I wasn't as lovely as normal but I still was "on" and having a good time. They really liked coloring and kept saying they would need a few hours to make them perfect and I was like, love the energy but you have a half hour.
Next they had lunch. And I just sat and stared at the wall for bit. And when it was time for their next program I went and got them and we headed to lights on.
I meant to take a picture but I was not on my A game. Which was very apparent when the kids were so excited they were all just. Screaming? And according to Meril (who had been observing my program) said I just went. "Ok we're screaming okay" in a very flat tone.
We had some silliest after that, running and such. So getting neighborhood was a little tough to get through, plus the costumes were all on the wrong hangers and I got really confused. But it was fine and they all did a good job and we finished exactly on time and since most of them came with their parents I had an easy time passing them over and saying goodbye.
I collected all the neighborhood stuff. I kept feeling overheated and weird. I felt like I was moving really slowly and wasn't having a very good time. Jessica asked me to go make outreach boxes and then Jordan also texted me about it and then Gaby told me about it and it got me all stressed because I was still struggling to put neighborhood costumes away.
I would stop for a few minutes to show Stanley some honeymoon pictures. And then upstairs to get some boxes made. Which was alright. I got half of them done before Gaby came up. And then Rosia joined us. I had to run down to the front desk with James with double check the layout for the business cards they were printing for me. And then checked in with the girls before I heard out. All I wanted was to go home.
And it was a struggle to get home but I made it safely.
I would get some of my market things done. I needed to make a sign and paint some wooden marbles. And then I just wanted to take a shower.
I washed my hair. And because I needed more stuff to be sad about, after I got it bed I got an email that my hair dryer was recalled for electrocution risk??? I just got that!! So I'm pretty bummed. And my stomach felt weird. So I got up and ate a vegan chicken patty and some cheese curls and then went to sleep.
I woke up when James came in the room around 6. They let me know they were making Indian food and would come get me when it was done. Love them.
I went to the living room and we hung out and had our food. Then James worked on cutting out my business cards and I finished my wooden marbles. Which are going in my candy machine. Turns out I will for sure need more then 30 but at least I have those for now. The idea is that you out a quarter in and can win a discount if you get a certain color marble. I'm very pleased I hope people like it. I'm excited for my new branding this year.
I have been in bed working on my post and watching videos since then. I'm a little dehydrated. I'm going to go get a drink. And brush my teeth. And get ready for bed.
Tomorrow I have to go to the first day of the market!! I'm very excited. I hope I feel okay. And then I have an event at the museum. I hope to get some rest in between. Fingers crossed it works out how I want.

N.B. government's homeless numbers a fall short of outreach worker's estimate
Just how many homeless people are there in the Greater Moncton area right now?
It depends on who you ask.
At an affordable housing announcement in Moncton, N.B., Friday, provincial Social Development Minister Dorothy Shephard said 222 people used one of the city's four shelters on a stormy night late last month.
“We know there are still others living rough. We can't force anyone to come to a shelter. I think we're in that 220 potentially, maybe a little higher. But at the same time we're working with our outreach workers every single day to ensure we're trying to get to anyone who is living rough,” said Shephard.
In November, Trevor Goodwin of the Greater Moncton YMCA told Moncton City Council over 500 people were living on the streets.
On Friday, Goodwin said Minister Shephard is referring to the 220 individuals on the YMCA's list of names which has not been updated since November and those numbers are only for individuals who’ve consented to being tracked.
"Recent data indicates 300 plus currently accessing shelters in Moncton and that does not account for individuals still sleeping outside in various capacities," said Goodwin in an email.
Shediac Bay-Dieppe Liberal MLA and Social Development critic Robert Gauvin agrees with the local outreach worker.
“The people who work in that field seem to think it's closer to 500 than 200. I tend to believe these guys because they have no reason to fudge the numbers and they know because they're on the ground,” said Gauvin.
Mayor Dawn Arnold said the city and the province are in agreement on the number of homeless people in Moncton.
Friday's funding announcement and the opening of the new cold shelter on St. George Street have made Arnold more hopeful about the situation than she's been in some time.
“It's been a really hard two to three years. It's been a slog but we've worked really hard from an advocacy perspective and I believe that the right players are around the table right now to effect the positive changes that we desperately need in our community,” said Arnold.
Gauvin said the state of homelessness and affordable housing in the city is bleak right now.
“You go downtown and you see, the last two years it’s just exploded. The price of having an apartment or buying a house, even the people who work can’t afford it. So, it’s going to get worse and worse if we don’t do anything,” said Gauvin.
CTV News spoke to a handful of homeless people this week who said the opening of the new shelter has been beneficial, but issues like housing and addiction remain major issues.
Mark Babin called the situation pretty dire.
“I think it has a lot to do with the drugs to tell you the truth. The drugs have taken a hold of Moncton. It's just unreal,” said Babin.
Stitch MacLeod said most homeless people are good people.
“They're not bad people. Just having a tough time in life. That's about it,” said MacLeod.
There are currently between 70 and 80 people staying at the new temporary shelter every night.
