Finally scanned in my photo ops with the Legends and Kat McNamara from the Ultimates Crisis convention this last weekend. Nick and Matt shouting and calling me "Caity" all day was a particular highlight and Caity herself doing the z snap whilst screeching "YAS QUEEN!!!! SLAY THAT SUIT!!" in my face made waiting over two years to finally debut this costume totally worth it! It's a reaction I've always craved from cast but never gotten. It's probably considered quite a stuck up or self centred wish to have, but I always invalidate my costuming abilities or think I'm shit compared to others, so to have the approval from the people who work as the characters I portray or with the person who portray those characters, it gives me hope I'm not bad haha!

It appears tumblr is my ‘go to’ place for posting things atm, so I figured I’d drop Jesse. 

Some fun or not facts about it and our Control fun booth:

1. The jacket is actually my Clary Fray jacket which I never got to use for Clary. The booth team needed a Jesse and I was like, wait a minute, I just happen to have the jacket and maybe it’s high time I check out the game! The jacket ended up only lasting for those two convention days (barely) before faux leather literally fell off... Been looking for a new one since July. :( And this is literally the only cosplay I’ve done without a wig in years, it was just... way easier to dye my hair. no complaints here, I love being a redhead, NEVER going back to Rey’s color

2. The booth team actually did some pretty neat quests for visitors like collecting the mold (cotton wool) or talking to plants. There was also some singing in Finnish involved if I remember correctly... I was mainly on the other side of the booth from our Ahti so sadly the plants talking and singing happened mostly without me. 

3. OOOOH also we had the hotline!!! You had to use the switch three times (the lighting in the hotline booth would change each time juuuust like the game) and then the hotline rang. My favorite thing to do was to bring legit everyone I know to the booth and tell them to pull the switch. What the team did was just too cool for me I only had a hand in decorating the table, I’m no electrician, I needed everyone to see that, and only a few quest undergoers got to the hotline bit. :( Almost everyone’s reaction was, ‘Will it shock me?’ because I guess that’s what one would expect, right?.. And then of course they’d have to listen to the Board speaking jibberish on the phone. My favorite reaction was one person yelling, ‘F*cking realtors, don’t call here ever again!’ in reply. 

There are some more fun facts about this Control booth, if anyone’s interested, I’d be more than happy to share more.

Sneak peek of costume lineup for Starfury's Ultimates:Crisis con in two weeks! Clary Fray and White canary (this was a quick test wear to see what needed extra altering - as you can see the belt needed taking in again and without my wig, but pictured separately) for the main days, Harley Quinn and Rebekah Mikelson for the evening parties.

Feels good being able to properly have a lineup for a convention again. I also have made matching masks for Clary and Sara, as well as already owning a matching one for Harley as the con is still requesting everyone to wear them which I fully support. Overall apart from one more thing I wanna replace for Clary (her thigh bag), I am now ready for the con!

this is a weird, vent sort of post, tw body image:

clary fairchild, specifically book clary, has long been one of my favorite characters. i identified with her a lot as a kid, because i was also short and petite. i'm still short, just not so petite in frame as an adult- i'm a 34E bra size, so go figure.

i really want to cosplay her, but already struggling with body image issues, i worry that i, or someone else, would see that cosplay and just think that i'm not skinny enough to cosplay her. realistically, i know: cosplay is for everyone, so no one can tell me i'm not "x enough" for a character, but the anxiety is there.
