Its been five whole years between the two Oxenfree games, and people noticed.

Alex watched Riley’s life, she saw the time pass in the past, present, and future. Olivia, Charlie, and Violet all had to hear about these rumors, be lured, because all of the first Oxenfree had already happened. Alex and her friends are tired. Most of all, if you tune into the radio at a certain time, there will be a man on that radio, and he will be speaking in dedication to his nephew. A nephew named Ren.

It’s been five years. What do their families think happened? That they’re dead? Were there no searches? What did Ren’s sisters think, on that island that one of them worked on, that swallowed up their brother? Nona’s parents? Clarissa’s family? What about Alex and Jonas’ parents? How could they possibly handle that, their children finally meeting for the first time, trying to make it all work---and then they’re gone. Did they even stay together after that?

Riley and Jacob lived in a world where five kids went missing on Edwards Island. A world where there were no answers to what happened. As soon as they stepped off that boat, they were erased from existence itself. A world where four families clawed for hope and never got it back.

That world doesn’t exist anymore. But for five years, it was real. One has to wonder if grief can transcend dimensions.

AITA for my brother's ex gf blaming me for his death and hating me?

So my (17F) brother (18M) was gonna leave town with his gf (18F) for college because he wanted to get away from our home town, he wanted my blessing first and of course I said yes, but I asked if we could go hang out at a lake one last time before he left as like a send off and he said sure

We were having a good time at first but at one point he went too far out when swimming in the lake and started drowning, I really wanted to save him but I'm completely unable to swim so I had no choice but to watch him die, and it's haunted me ever since

His girlfriend (who I've known for years and have always had a sorta tense relationship with) thinks that it was my fault that he died because I was the reason that we went to the lake, and she's absolutely despised me for it ever since

anyone else get really sad when they think about the first oxenfree game? like they're doomed to that loop. Alex is the only one who REALLY remembers — everyone else just feels a slight deja vu. they've been looping for what, five years? that's five years they lost. their families moved on, probably, or forgot about them. i don't doubt that the sunken somehow erased them from existence — like in the ending where everyone forgets Clarissa. And without Riley coming along, they would have been stuck there.

I really hope they make a third game, preferably about Maggie but I'd love to see how their lives were affected after they escaped the loop.

I think it's sad and heartbreaking that Oxenfree starts as a group of teens wanting to have fun on an island and it ends up with them just wanting to escape.

Alex just immediately adapts to the role as a leader/ peace keeper between everyone. She's the only one who's able to tell when they're in a time loop. The only one who really talks to the sunken.

Jonas attempting at mild humour to calm the both of them, which doesn't really work a lot because of Alex's need to get the job done. Yet, they walk around the island and end up having such a strong bond. "You know I'm coming with you."

You end up playing as Alex and get attached to her and to see her and Jonas running around on a haunted Island, going through hell to help the others. A game that has managed to give me chills, while breaking my heart.

I'm not saying that the others didn't do anything to help (minus Clarissa because she was being used as a puppet. Also Ren did like one thing in Maggie's house and he was high most of the time.) but Alex carried the brunt of it. The sunken attempts to manipulate her, messing around with her by giving her the chance to speak with her dead brother and possess her friends.(The hangman scene??) She's forced to make incredibly hard choices.

There are moments in time loops when she's completely alone- Jonas is gone and she has to walk around on a ghost infested Island.

And for what? Just because she was playing with a radio. It truly is a tragic horror.

I was genuinely surprised about you know who appearing in Oxenfree 2. Usually the devs throw in a small reference to the previous protagonist and the story will be about the new character in games like these. But nope! They went there and I'm glad. I thought it would be one of those sad ambiguous fates but instead they were like "nah, they deserve better."
