🌸10 study tips that have helped me a lot 🌸
1. Give teachers a chance. Maybe two or three chances. Even if their subject or the way they talk etc. is boring. Most times, it’s worth it - it will make you more interested in their class and you’ll learn things better.
2. If I’m ever stressed and need to chill, usually the things that work for me are:
taking a nap
talking to a friend about it
taking a hot shower
watching a funny/silly/cute tv show (my favorites are friends, brooklyn 99, steven universe or some slice of life/shoujo anime/k-drama).
3. always make sure you’re comfortable while you’re studying! I can never get through a long study session without having showered and changed into comfy clothes before starting it. Some people also like lighting candles and having nice snacks around, which are also always a plus! Just don’t put a lot of stuff into your ‘pre-study session’ routine; you’ll end up taking a lot of time to get ready and that can simply turn into procrastination and distraction. Just make sure you feel good enough to start and don’t forget to drink water!
4. I’m even gonna make this a single topic cause!! water is so important and useful!! Not only it helps keeping you fresh (specially if you add some cucumber or strawberries in it!) and focused, it’s also great to keep you awake if you’re feeling a bit sleepy. The effect doesn’t hit you as fast as coffee, for example, but it lasts much longer. Also caffeine is bad for you!! Make sure to not over drink it.
5. Always study keeping in mind how things are gonna fall on your test/exam. Make sure to write down the questions that your teacher asks while giving a class (and their answers, obviously) - these are quite often the things that will fall on your test and the teacher rarely ever writes it down on the board, so it might seem like it isn’t relevant, but it really helps you understand the thought process of the subject better.
6. Speaking of writing down questions, the Cornell Method has always worked really well to me, specially in History classes. It’s also great for memorization and revising!
7. This is something I’m still learning to do, but make sure to revise as much as you can! Doesn’t have to be a big revision; just looking through your notes at the end of the day/week (or even just after taking them!) helps a lot!
8. Please, please, always prioritize your mental health and sleep. You need energy and mental stability to study things properly. If you don’t, your brain won’t be able to select and properly learn all the things you’ve studied that day, you’ll feel super tired and dead inside and you will crash. It’s just not healthy. Don’t listen to the whole ‘you can go out/rest after you’ve passed your exams, it will be worth it’ or ‘my dreams are worth more than my sleep’ trend. Don’t do it!! It’s a trap. I know school usually makes you think you need to give your best at all times, but a) you really don’t; give yourself some slack once in a while, you need it, and b) your best doesn’t have to be working your as* off ‘til 3am everyday. It might just be studying for 4-6 hours everyday. Or eating ice cream and watching tv shows all day at least for one day. Your body decides. Let it be.
9. Use actual flashcards when it’s a very difficult/new subject, not just online ones like quizlet!! (this is a tip I learned from this post)
10. eat well! also maybe try taking vitamins - especially if you’re a useless blob like me and you don’t play any sports! I’ve been taking goji berry capsules and they help me a whole lot, specially if I’m feeling sleepy. Actually any type of berry is great for boosting up your energy!
🍒some rly good posts I recommend:
‘study smarter’ by @sleeptalkz
‘how I increased my productivity by 3x’ by @brbimstudying
‘conquering math’ by @thestudyfeels
‘bujo trackers for getting your sh*t together’ by @etudiaire
‘types of breaks for every situation’ by @samsstudygram
🍒productivity/study life youtubers I like:
rowena tsai (love her, rly good tips on organization and just nice overall aesthetic)
ana mascara (I always watch her videos when I feel like I’m lacking motivation. Her videos talk a lot about that and discipline, and how you should always ‘be comfortable with the uncomfortable’; just 10/10 rly good motivational and actually useful videos overall).
That’s it! sorry if this was too long. I still have some tips left that I didn’t include in this post so let me know if you want me to do another one of these!

Yesterday’s homework! (Technically it’s next week homework, buuuut….)
When it comes to time management I sound repetitive, but… Start it, do a pomodoro or just two minutes but start it. And when you get home, don’t get your snack until you have studied for half an hour!

Yup, I’m a commuting student (and I actually love it)!
Now that my first year of college is over, I thought I’d share some tips about what I’ve found to be helpful as a commuter student :-)
1. Keep a close eye on traffic patterns and construction! If you drive, chances are traffic is a huge annoyance in day-to-day commuting. When you first start the school year, try and look at different routes to school to see which has the least traffic at certain times! Often times, there will be traffic no matter what, but some routes may have less than others. If you take public transportation, just make sure you have the routes and times down so you won’t be late to classes. Construction is less predictable (but possibly more aggravating), but if you come across some, try to make a mental note to avoid the area and possibly another traffic jam.
2. Get that parking permit ASAP. Not having a parking permit (especially if you park at school every day) can add up money-wise, as well as being inconvenient.
3. Try to consolidate the amount of papers/books you bring to school so your backpack isn’t too heavy. Since you don’t have a dorm to store your things in so it’s easily accessible from campus, you may find yourself bringing a lot of materials to school every day, which can be kind of annoying. I usually bring one folder with all the papers I need for that day and use loose-leaf paper for notes to avoid bringing notebooks all the time.
4. Charge everything the night before! I don’t know about you, but my laptop lasts the whole day as long as it’s 100% or so in the morning. To avoid having to bring a laptop charger, be sure to charge your laptop before heading out. As for phones, perhaps invest in a portable charger (or simply use your laptop to charge your phone).
5. Bring some food! Eating out can prove to be pricey, so bringing lunch (and/or dinner, depending how long you’re at school) is essential for at least some days. Snacks like granola bars or oranges are always pretty convenient to have incase you get a little hungry. Be sure to scout out good/reasonably priced places for a quick bite and stock up on stamp cards for your favorite places :-)
6. Keep some essentials in your car (if you drive)! An old set of clothes (in case your lab requires certain clothes) and an umbrella are always helpful.
7. Use time wisely. This is a tip for essentially all students, but it is especially important if you have a long commute. Try to plan your classes so that they happen all around the same time to avoid long gaps in between (unless you like that kind of thing). I like having my classes in the morning so I can get home before it gets dark, but that’s just me.
8. Try your best to get involved. You don’t have to be apart of a fraternity and in 5 clubs, but I do recommend at least looking into one or two things to meet new people. It is true that having a “social life” is difficult when you aren’t at campus nearly as much as everyone else, but it is possible and pretty rewarding! If nothing else, make some friends in your classes that you can study with (and if they’re down for boba runs afterwards, that’s a plus!).
9. Know what to do in an emergency. If your car breaks down, who should you call? When the buses are late, do you know anyone who can give you a ride to school if needed? If you are really lucky, you might have a friend like that-- or perhaps, you *are* that friend (in which case, thank you).
10. Stay safe. Whether you’re walking in a parking lot, taking the bus alone, or anytime in between. Try not to be distracted when you’re out and about, and be aware of your surroundings. Finding a fellow commuter student may help with this!
These are just some of the things I have gathered from my first year commuting. You might feel out of the loop when everyone else talks about dorming and how fun their roommate is (at least, that’s how I felt). But as long as you remind yourself why you are commuting (perhaps it’s to help with family things or to save money) and you remind yourself how fortunate you are to be able to attend college in the first place, you’ll be perfectly fine :-) Best wishes!

hello hello studyblr!
I've been wanting to start my own studyblr for months (if not years now) but i never had the courage to embark on this adventure and now here i am!

- i will be focusing manly on science cause biochemistry is my bae (so if you have any science related questions i’d love to help you out if i can) but i will also definitely post about sociology/politics/philosophy since i spend most of my free time watching public lectures at the London School of Economics (have i mentioned I'm a nerd yet?)
- i was also considering talking about what life in london as a student is like and give tips and tricks to make the most out of this experience
-   i will be joining the united nation association at my uni so i’d very much love to talk about my experience at conferences (hopefully i’ll work hard enough to manage to be selected for the oxford or cambridge conference committee)
