Only 9 days left? What a whirlwind of a year!

Thanksgiving is over, so we can officially get excited for Christmas! Although I am not Christian, I celebrate this holiday with my family and friends as a cultural occasion. One of the Christmas traditions I enjoy is listening to classical music for the season, especially Handel's Messiah. This magnificent piece of music features angels a lot, so this musical angel seems the perfect herald for the holiday season.

It was the middle of the night, the young Alois Trancy woke up in sheer terror. His face and body were dripping with sweat, tears were dripping down his cheeks and his scream filled up the bedroom.

His faithful maid immediately entered the room once she heard him. She rushed over to the horrified boy sitting up on his bed.

“Master! Whatever happened?” She asked him worriedly - wiping off the beads of sweat.

The boy didn’t answer at first, still only heavily breathing. After a minute he made eye contact with her - showing her his tears.

“Hannah…” Alois spoke, his voice trembling. “ It was dark, nobody was there, only me. Until I saw someone and I thought it was you… but…” He paused. “It was him.”

Hannah immediately knew who her master was talking about, she allowed him to continue.

“He got closer to me… and the things he did were… *sob* I tried to escape but… I couldn’t. Then he…”

His maid sat on the bed beside him and pulled him close to her chest. She hushed the crying boy and gently patted his hair. Alois kept sobbing, letting all his tears out as the maid rubbed circles on his back with her other hand. Hannah didn’t care that her maid outfit was now soaking in tears.

After what felt like an hour, Alois calmed down and rubbed his eyes clean. Hannah layed his head back down onto his cleaned pillow and stroked his hair once more. She smiled at him which made him do the same.

“It’s alright, Master.” She whispered. “I’m here for you now. Faustus is gone and can not harm you anymore.”

With that said, she said goodnight and lightly kissed him on the forehead.

The next morning, Alois walked into the dining room feeling a lot better than he was last night. He noticed Hannah had already prepared his breakfast, neatly spread out on the table. When she turned around and saw him, she came closer and tendered him again like the night before.

“How are you feeling today, master?” She asked kindly. “You’re looking a lot brighter now.”

Alois side eyed in embarrassment. “Look, Hannah… I’m sorry for the way I behaved last night. I didn’t mean to overreact on something that wasn’t real.”

“Don’t be ridiculous.” She responded. “It’s only normal for you to cry over such horrendous things. After all, you are still human - a young one too. If there’s ever a time when you need to cry, just come to me, I’m always here for you.”

The boy could feel himself tearing up again, but he didn’t fight it. He hugged his maid tightly and let a few tears escape once more. Hannah hugged him back, accepting the melancholic embrace. It’s almost like Alois is her own son rather than her master - she loved it.
