Love is Pain

(aka: a WIP where I'm gonna torment Yuri so much.)

Excerpt:

Still the equation in his head tumbled around, a piece of glass in the surf, cutting him anew with each pass.

What was Love if Love was not pain?

“Chloe?” he slurred.

“Yeah big guy?” a fruity drink was sipped between her colored lips.

“What’s love to you?”

Her eyes sparkled and she patted his hand. “I never took you for a philosophical drunk.”

He huffed with a glare that made Chloe smile wider. “I’ll have you executed. Answer the question.”

“Love,” her mouth was close to his ear now, enough to hear her clearly over the music, “is like the best tasting ice cream on a hot day. A euphoria that floods your bones with a hug. A presence that takes away the day’s aches. A kiss that makes all the pain disappear.”

It was the complete opposite of what he knew to be fact.

Impossible.

That’s not how love worked.

“Oh Yuri…” she cooed with empathy, pulling napkins from the dispenser. “Don’t cry Yuri.”

The bartop was wet and his eyes were sore with tears.

“Do I need to find the person who broke your heart? Is that it?” Chloe tried to joke, blotting the salt from his face. “I’ll kick their ass.”

This is the most consistent I have been in terms of writing? Anyway, here’s chapter 3 of The MITU 🚔

”Yor, I’ll call Franky”. Loid reassured her, placing a hand on her shoulder. Yor's cheeks flushed, and she gasped in surprise at the small gesture. Loid smiled, noticing that his hand was getting warmer by the second, and took a small step back, continuing to look around at her nervous expression. "If you're worried about him, why don't you visit him?" ‘The way he visits us unannounced,’ Loid's mind echoed.

"I guess I should. We haven't seen each other for a while." Yor pressed. It had been a dreadful two weeks, but they always found time to catch up, even if it was on the phone.

"You'll feel much better. I guess he's had a lot of work lately, so it'll be nice to see if he needs anything". Loid already knew, of course, that Yuri had had a close encounter with the same organization responsible for the threats near the newly elected Minister. Loid hoped that Yuri would be able to pass on some valuable information, however minimal, but suspected that WISE and the SSS were both in the dark for the first time.
