The Man in the Uniform ch6 is up!

Summary:

After their chaotic intervention at the Forger’s, Chloe pours her heart and gives Yuri a piece of her mind. In order to fix whatever they’ve gotten into, Yuri must find out why does he keep coming back to her. Taking his heart on her hands, their encounter makes them reminisce the events of a year before, when Ostania’s downfall began.

Ch. 6 overlaps with TDYWB -Twiyor beginning to brew (which means there’s hints and spoilers of them in the MITU)

The Mitt incident sparks the events mentioned in Ch. 3 of DTW

Timeline wise, the actual time of this story is around 1969, which means the Mitt incident happens in February of 1968

In this timeline, three years have passed since the beginning of operation Strix and most of the events of DTW haven’t happened yet (so there’s a few spoilers and details about Yuri’s character that make more sense when following this story)

DTW has multiple timelines but MAIN one takes place in 1974

"You can relax, we're not on a date or anything." She spoke. Yuri opened one of his eyes and closed them again. "You're not my type anyway."

"What are you talking about?" He puffed. The loudspeaker announced the next station and they started to walk towards the doors of the train. “You’ve been pretty stiff and you haven’t even looked at me once. Afraid we'll run into your sister again?" Silence. "Yeah, that's what I thought." The doors opened and they began to blend into the flow of the crowd.

A few stairs ahead, they ascended to the exit, now joining the bustling life of Berlint-Mitt, their city center, the main attraction for any visitor interested in Ostanian culture and history. Many of the most important buildings were there, still standing despite having been the target of many attacks during the wars. A lot of money had gone into rebuilding these buildings, and it wasn't hard to imagine how many people were involved in their preservation. Chloe blended in with ease, her dignified face matching the beauty of these structures while showing her ability to adapt and represent a modern era. At that moment, he noticed that she was fighting the cold just to keep up with her fashion choices. In other words, she was wearing her best clothes, but she was freezing just to look the part. A sudden sneeze stopped them both and he sighed in disbelief at what he was about to do. Better to be careful than to risk compromising their mission.

"Here. Put this on." It was Yuri's gray jacket that he had draped over her shoulders. "You look like a popsicle." He added. Startled by his sudden kindness, she just nodded and slipped her arms through the sleeves. It was warm. "Yeah, thanks Lieutenant."

I come from a family of teachers so it’s not hard to imagine I’d be influenced a lot by them. Except for years I didn’t want to become a teacher.

I’ve always struggled with consistency and anxiety so maintaining a job has been challenging. I felt like I had a knack for storytelling and wanted to explore that in my career, but it always came down to me wanting to do something more, something that could make others think and reflect about their lives. So…

Just like Henry, I began teaching (History– if you can find the irony) and, as I was doing my masters I really thought it would mean something. Sometimes, I look back and think I was naive to believe I could have that much impact, but I only cared to try, and I’d be satisfied if even if only one student had changed because of my knowledge.

And for that, I just want to say thank you. These chapters have the fandom throwing tantrums but to me it’s more than enough.

Lately, I’ve been considering a change of careers, as I’m going through some personal stuff. But this, this was validation for any educator that, despite the state of the world along with the dehumanization that we’re going through, there is someone out there who will listen to your stories, and that your work has meaning. You might feel powerless at times, cry a lot, but, when someone that listened to you says that they understand what loss means, and that they will fight back in the ways that they can, well, all the struggle makes it all worth it.

This manga is ending up to be one big anti-war propaganda and in today's ages it just feels so right.

It shows so well how much of an impact a war has on everyone's lives, doesn't matter if you engage directly in combat, or you stay safe during the wartimes. It destroys love, family ties and friendships all the same.

The Man in the Uniform ch5 is up!

Summary:

Chaos ensues during the Forger/Briar family dinner. Anya cheers, Yor gasps, Bond barks and Loid gets his turn to play revenge on Yuri.

Chloe wonders what did she get in to, but she accepts it nonetheless.

"I'm ready, geez. Aren't you a treat today?" Chloe blurted out like it was second nature.

"Yeah, whatever. How's the wound?" They both walked through the halls of the apartment complex.

"It's fine. Are you alright?" Chloe giggled a little more confidently now that she felt they had gotten into their usual antics. Before Yuri could reply, they both stopped at the set of stairs in front of them. Pouting and frowning, he looked back at her, almost as if he was doing his best to be a little nicer. Chloe could tell he was trying, and that alone made her heart happy. She put one crutch on the descending step and stopped as she felt her body being pulled up into his arms. Surprised, Chloe squeaked.

"I— it's faster this way. I told you we'd be late and I don't want to keep my dear Yor waiting!".

"Ah- of course! But the crutches!" Yuri held her with one arm and pulled both crutches onto Chloe so she could hold, but as he did, he threw her upwards a little, bouncing her once and then holding her tighter, bridal style.

"EEEKKK! Yuri what?!"

"JUST HOLD ON!" He shouted back.

"Yuri, wait! It's still early, you don't have to run, we've got a car!"

And so, with Chloe's hands wrapped around his neck, he ran straight across the park. Rushing on to the Forger residency, for the first time, announced.

This song is speaks about the pain of being alone with your expectations and swallowing minor disappointments until one day it becomes too much to handle. Things that you would’ve done differently even though you were just a child, now an adult trying to cope with your life choices. It’s also about imposter syndrome.

2. I’m not a woman I’m a god – Halsey

In a lyrical sense, yes, it parallels her assassin job, but also it’s a way to say she’s literally playing as the executioner instead of the one who plays judgment. Yor is convinced she’s doing more good than harm, and to me, that’s almost like playing god without being aware. In my own interpretations it’s also about the fact of her being an assassin as a way to reclaim power war took from her.

3. Salvation — Christabelle Marbun

𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘺

𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵

𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦

This song explores to me, that time in which Loid and Yor begin to catch feelings, though canonically we haven’t seen much of it. In DTW (go read that), it has already been eight years since the beginning of Operation Strix and four since Twiyor have been involved behind closed doors. One day, their relationship escalates from admiration, praise, and then there’s lingering of fingers, touching of shoulders until they can’t get out of the inevitable. Both know they can’t get carried away but keep coming back for more.

4. Tourniquet - Evanescence

𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘐'𝘮 𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘭

𝘐'𝘮 𝘥𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨

Oh, god, it’s getting too angsty now. We already had a glimpse of Yor reflecting if it’s worth to keep her job as an assassin during our Cruise Arc Adventure, but, to me, this song is also about her realizing the morality of taking life, realizing killing is still sin. I think she represses a lot of this when we see those frames of her silent and alone.

5. Criminal - Fiona Apple

𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺

𝘛𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺

𝘚𝘰, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭 𝘴𝘢𝘺? 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸

I know… criminal, how cliche, but… it’s a very soothing and sensual beat incredibly fitting for Yor’s Thorn Princess persona.
