(First of all, English is not my first language so sorry if there are some mistakes long essays are hard to write djhdsfs)

HELLO GOOD MORNING CHERIK FANDOM SO the other day I made this post about a very hurtful and surprisingly overlooked parallel: Cherik not being able to shoot each other. Aaaand that second scene from DOFP where Erik is unable to shoot Charles has been keeping me awake at night for AGES and I really feel like we don't talk enough about it. So, here I am. Still being pissed off because of some fictional characters not kissing in some movies made years ago lol

So, here's an extended extract from that scene:

So. Erik's plan here is to kill Raven, bc you can't use Raven to create evil war machines if there's no Raven am I right lol. Charles, before Erik can shoot his sister, puts himself in between the gun and her (btw shoutout to Charles for being brave enough to put himself in front of a gun again after what happened in Cuba and the ptsd he 100% has bc of it I love you muac).

Let's make things clear here: There was nothing stopping Erik from killing Charles in this scene. He could've done it. Erik's mission at that very moment was to kill Raven, and Charles was getting between his mission and him. And we all know how things end when something gets in Erik's way when he's completing his mission. Erik does not care about collateral damage. For fucks sake, in this very same scene, he was willing to kill Raven off just bc it was easier and faster. He doesn't give a fuck about who has to die in favor of the greater good.

And I mean, technically, Erik should be more willing to kill Charles than Raven. Raven was his right hand for a while before he went to prison and she was his canonical lover. Charles, at this point in time, was his enemy. Both of them are very powerful mutants, with the difference that Raven is usually by Erik's side, and Charles is one of the only people in the world able to stop Erik thanks to his mutation. If Erik was willing to kill Raven, he should be willing to kill Charles too, if not as much, then more.

So... Why not? Why not shoot him, and once Charles was down, kill Raven too? Why is he able to attempt to kill Raven (his former ally and EX LOVER) and not Charles?

ALSO, now that we're here: Let's talk a bit about Dark Phoenix, too.

So, let's face it, DP is a bad movie. Overall, it's boring and that's pretty sad counting the masterpieces FC and DOFP are. But, hey, I can live with a boring movie. It's fine. What I CANNOT live with are things that are out of character. Especially when my fave characters are out of character. Ok maybe I'm being a bit too over dramatic here but I'M NOT

So: Let's talk about how Erik wants to rip the world apart over Raven's death in Dark Phoenix bc he's just so destroyed bc the love of his life died or whatever. Dude. I'm sorry but I don't buy it.

Correct me if I'm wrong here bc there's been a while since I don't rewatch Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix (again, meh movies), but from what I understand Erik didn't spend more time with Raven, apart from that bit in Apocalypse? Because after DOFP, Erik distanced himself from anything related to mutant wars to create a family, and then after Apocalypse Erik created Genosha and Raven stayed at the mansion, isn't it?

Assuming that this is correct, they're trying to tell me that between the scene where Erik was willing to kill Raven over the greater good in DOFP and the scene where he was willing to rip the world apart bc of her dying in DP, Raven and Erik only saw each other once. Riiiiight.

And, look. I'm not saying that Erik wouldn't feel sad about Raven dying. Of course he would. He's not made of steel (bc most steel is not magnetic. Get it? Magnetism, Erik... Imma shut up lol). Obviously he would feel bad. And I'm not saying that love can't last that long if they haven't seen each other in a long time, bc c'mon. I'm a cherik shipper. Of course I believe it can.

What I'm saying is that I can't believe that Erik is so devastated that gets blinded enough by his broken heart to hunt down a teenager that's being haunted by something she can't control. I can't believe it bc 20 years ago, it was him who was trying to kill Raven (and almost succeeding), a time that was way closer to their partnership and relationship than when DP takes place. If anything, he should be more affected in DOFP. Instead, he goes from almost killing her himself to wanting to rip everything apart bc of her death.

It. Doesn't. Make. Sense. So, Dark Phoenix's Raven x Erik plotline can suck my dick lol. If it doesn't make sense with the character's previous actions, it's not canon. That's how this works lol I don't make the rules

Summing up: Erik willing to kill Raven but not being able to shoot Charles in DOFP is EXTREMELY fruity and romantic, and Dark Phoenix's romantic plot between Raven and Erik makes 0 sense and is forced as shit

29. Last book I read: for university sei personaggi in cerca d'autore by Luigi Pirandello (german translation though); for myself still reading Clanlands by Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish.

30. Top 3 fictional universes I'd like to live in:

1 》 Harry Potter, because it's a magical world, it was my personal escapism whenever I listened to the audio books 24/7 and it will always have my full heart. [the fictional world, that for me has no longer anything to do with a certain someone from our reality]

2 》 [insert cheesy book/movie, without all that hero/villain crap and just the light romantic drama, but not like heavy super complicated drama, with happy end]

3 》 [insert a better world, where all my ships are canon and in all my fictional media just happens stuff I like, while the real world is much more peaceful and accepting in general]

I honestly have no idea, I like to read or watch all that stuff and enjoy my observing position, because I'm not physical adventure seeking person. Maybe some TV show, but I don't even know which of them, because they also have so much heavy drama going on...

More Cherik Anastasia AU for all y'all

[Chronologically] Part 1 • Part 2 • Part 3

I just really wanted to write the scene of them dancing on the boat to Paris from the movie 'cause it's soft and we all deserve softness in this forsaken day. (This is part 2 chronologically btw, I'm not gonna write this chronologically because I don't really want to lmao, hope you all enjoy!)

The boat swayed slightly as Charles watched Erik getting closer to him with a small box in hands, grey eyes as stern as ever, even if they now had some new glimmer to them that made Charles' cheeks feel hot.

"Bought this for you. You'll need these." the smile in Erik's lips was small, but sincere, making Charles smile back even if his brow was furrowed, taking the box — the gift — from Erik's hands to look at the content.

He opened the box, taking a few moments to realize what was inside of it and smiling once again as he touched the fabric of the clothes.

"Better than the raggedy clothes you've been wearing ever since we left England." Charles glared at Erik for a moment, seeing the man shrug amusedly and cross his arms over his chest, suddenly looking nervous. "Do you like them?"

Charles took a piece of the clothing from the box, a blue waistcoat that looked a lot like Erik's burgundy one. The fabric felt nice on Charles' fingers and he couldn't deny he liked the color as well — royal blue, the color of the family Charles was pretending to be a part of —, but he couldn't help himself on wanting to bother Erik even just a little, always amused at the other's frustrated face whenever he said or did something Erik really wasn't expecting.

"It's not that bad." Charles said, seeing immediate results in the other man's eyes.

"Not that bad?"

"Yeah, could be worse."

He tried his best to hide the playful smile and stopping it from appearing on his lips, but it was almost impossible. As soon as Erik noticed that, his look of surprise vanished and he rolled his eyes, even if a minimal smile appeared on his lips for a quick moment as well.

"Go get dressed, for goodness sake."

Erik left with a wave of a hand, making Charles smile wider and look at the clothes again before moving gingerly over to his cabin to change his old clothes for these new ones.

It didn't take long for him to get changed, fixing his hair as best as he could, knowing he would have to cut it soon, a few strands being too stubborn to stay in place and constantly falling on Charles' eyes. He took a moment to look at himself in the mirror, eyes staring at the new person that stared back at him, the clothes bringing some kind of familiarity to Charles' mind as he observed them on his body. The white shirt under the waistcoat was a bit bigger than him, but he had made it work somehow, the blue waistcoat made his eyes shine even more, and something told him that this was how he should've been dressing all his life.

The man staring back at him in the mirror seemed like a version of himself that should've been. A ghost of a person that never existed.

He shook his head after a few seconds, leaving his cabin quickly and walking up to the deck of the boat, seeing Erik and Raven sat at a small table with a chess board between them as Erik looked at Raven with some kind of annoyance as the girl couldn't decide which piece to move, constantly picking up paws before setting them down again in the same place she took them from. That made Charles chuckle, knowing now that Raven didn't know how to play chess and only played to please Erik, to make her friend happy.

His chuckle caught Raven's attention, and soon her pale blue eyes shone like fireworks as she looked at Charles, getting up from the table and leaving a complaining Erik behind to walk in circles around Charles with all that grace that she seemed to always have, a big smile on her lips.

"My, oh my. Now you're looking like royalty, your highness." she joked. Charles snorted at her as she stopped in front of him, eyes still bright at him. "You look like you're ready for a dance. In fact, you should learn how to dance."

From the small table, Erik watched Charles with curious eyes, making him feel his cheeks burn slightly. Erik was so focused on Charles that he didn't notice Raven getting closer to him until the woman pulled him by the arm and started dragging him towards Charles.

"Follow Erik's steps, he's a good dancer." she said as she pushed Erik one last time and stood to the side.

Both of them looked nervous at the idea to dancing with each other and Charles saw the exact moment something in those grey eyes shifted as he offered Charles his hand to take. He gave Erik his hand, watching as the other man placed it on his shoulder and pulled Charles' close by his waist, taking Charles' free hand and starting to move. He had never danced before, and he was still nervous for staying this close to Erik, which made him step on the other man's feet multiple times. He blushed red at that as Erik only chuckled and shook his head.

"Let me guide you." Erik raised his eyebrows, voice softer as it ever been, and Charles swallowed his own spit before nodding.

When he allowed himself to relax and let Erik guide his movements, the dance started to make sense and soon they moved through the deck of the boat as if there was music around them, when the sounds that conducted their steps were the waves breaking against the side of the boat and the loud wind that made a mess of both Charles' and Erik's hair.

A smile appeared in Charles' lips, suddenly happy with the dancing and the way Erik was being careful with him at that moment, and soon he saw his own smile reflected in Erik's lips. On the side, they failed to notice the look in Raven's eyes as they danced, worry filling her thoughts as she noticed the look in both man's eyes. Romance, she thought, clenching her jaw as she realized that maybe she shouldn't have allowed them to dance. As much as she felt some kind of happiness for the way the two of them were getting along, this wasn't part of the plan, and it made her wonder if it wouldn't change the plan in any way.

After a few more moments, Charles chuckled with a too fast of a spin, feeling his head turning as well with the turns and the sway of the boat.

"I'm getting dizzy." he confessed.

Erik stopped dancing immediately, still holding Charles close as he chuckled while waiting for Charles get himself back together, both of them with dumb smiles on their faces. Charles looked up at Erik, smile fading away from both of them as the stare kept on going for longer than normal. Raven watched the scene in front of her unfold, unsure on how she wanted it to end. There was something in Erik's eyes that made Charles blush again, fairly sure that he saw Erik lower his gaze to his lips for a second there.

"Charles, I…"

"Yes?"

He felt his heart beating faster inside his chest as he noticed Erik getting closer slowly, brow furrowed as if he was as confused with what was happening as Charles. He was sure he would be kissed in that moment, that he would feel Erik's lips on his, and the idea made him lose his breath, eyes closing as he waited for the kiss he was sure was coming. He waited, and waited again, until he heard a heavy sigh in front of him and opened his eyes again, watching Erik's face as he battled against something behind those eyes, a weak smile appearing on his lips but with no humor at all.

"You're doing great." he said simply, as weak as his smile, letting go of Charles and making him feel alone again without the proximity.

As he left for his own cabin, Charles stood there, face flushed with embarrassment for waiting to be kissed and with the idea he was so close to be kissed. By the side, Raven bit the inside of her lip, sighing and watching her friend go away and knowing Erik had moved away because of their plan. She looked at Charles again, watching the man swallow and pick on the skin of his own hand as he turned away and went to watch the waves over the side of the boat, secretly wishing Erik had forgotten about the plan for that moment.

15. Rant about a character, movie or ship!

since the last thing I saw was xmdofp, I will rant about that. I love that airplane scene. Erik’s voice when he shouted “you abandoned us all” just sends me every damn time man. I’m assuming they didn’t contact each other after Erik took Raven so the nerve and the audacity of Erik to accuse him of abandonment when he left!! btw what do you think would happened if it was Charles’ DNA Trask used to advance the sentinel program? would Erik attempt to kill him? He really inherited that ideal from Shaw where he think the mutant race is the superior one, which makes it all the more tragic and lovely that he meets Charles who is so clearly opposed to that idea and they fall in love, it’s just too poetic. I want to go on forever but this is gonna end in tears if i do lol

9. How do you rank the movies?

first class gave us classic cherik moments but DP gave us PARIS and i dont know how to pick between those too so they are both #1.

tbh i dont think it’s that bad. The Wolverine and Jean relationship is going to be forever creepy to me (im sorry) but I dont mind it. They definitely wasted Jean there though, I would prefer it if Charles and Erik worked together to bring her down because she’s unstable and wants to take over the world by brainwashing everyone. Or she’s tired of the conflict and succeeds in brainwashing Charles that Erik’s side is better or vice versa. I like it but it could have been better.
