When we seem to see no results

It's been almost more than 5 years that I've been working with homeless people and you know it is not easy work, you see, hear and feel so much. And for me, I think one of the hardest things about my work is never actually knowing what actually happened to some people that you've helped. Maybe some found their way through life and others didn't but how to know that? And I think I'm the kind of person that I like to see results I feel a bit frustrated when I never hear from them again and everything. But yesterday something very funny happened, I was doing my work, and we were about to receive some other volunteers to work with us, and one of the guys we've been helping since around October, was telling them(the new volunteers) how our work impacted his life, he used to commit crimes to be able to have money to provide to his children, he has a big family, 6 children. And when he met us he still had many debts as well and since then that we've been helping him and supporting him he said that he was able to pay his debt, HE LEFT THE CRIME LIFESTYLE and there's always food for his children. He also went to the police to confess his crimes and said that he was changing his life and he was looking forward to a new future with his family. I confess that when I heard all of that my eyes were filled with tears cause honestly I've been working very hard and sometimes seems like we are not getting anywhere and then suddenly BOOOOOM! You hear that and think gosh, what I'm doing it's really impacting lives even though sometimes I can't see it/feel it. IT IS WORTH IT!!!
