thinking about the litwick line’s dex entries and ingo’s chandelure and emmet’s relationship w them after the disappearance.

thinks about emmet being followed by wild lampent when he's walking back home after work, seeing their dim purple glow out of the corner of his eye as he passes under flickering and burned out streetlights. seeing litwick along the paths, small flames twinkling in the darkness to lead him astray. finding it harder to tear his gaze from chandelure's fire, the hypnotic swaying pulling him along during their nightly searches down the closed subway line where ingo was last seen, away from the pull of those other glittering ghostly lights. chandelure's chiming cries echoing emptily down the tunnels.

thinks about emmet becoming more wary of chandelure but resolutely choosing to keep her by his side despite everyone's concern for his wellbeing. she was always ingo's favorite. does she resent him? chandelure was ingo's partner after all, not emmet's, even if the two of them always shared pokemon for battles. ingo always talked about taking safety precautions, that even with the trust between them, it was in the ghost pokemon’s nature to siphon life energy from living beings, that sometimes they could be doing it unknowingly, so it was important to communicate boundaries and limits. emmet didn’t have the same level of unspoken bond with chandelure that ingo did. without ingo around now, she really had no reason to tolerate emmet. it was his fault ingo was gone, anyway. he should have been able to save him. maybe she was gradually leeching off his energy until he was empty and left wandering these tunnels endlessly. he’d deserve it. it certainly seemed harder to breathe as the days went by. harder to do anything, really. maybe she only kept him around instead of burning his soul because he was so similar to ingo. that's fine. he'll find ingo and bring him back.

chandelure hasn't gone back in her pokeball since the disappearance, always hovering around emmet. she acts on her own, outside of his directions, often making odd gestures and bringing her flames much too close to him but not hurting him. never hurting him. but people are becoming increasingly alarmed by her presence, their complaints and advice growing more frequent. she’s out of control, she should be kept in her pokeball. he shouldn't be bringing her with him to the station. if something happened, she’d be taken away. emmet can’t let her be taken. but he brings her anyway. the warnings go unheeded and become white noise.

thinks about chandelure being anything but resentful. she's lonely. she misses ingo. she blames herself for not being able to save him. she doesn't know how to tell emmet that she knows he feels the same. she keeps the wild lampent and litwick from leading him astray on their nightly vigils. she does her best to ward off the collecting ghostly energy that seems to grow thicker around emmet each passing day, a sort of haze surrounding him that only she could see. he probably thinks she's trying to take his soul. the people around him tell him that she's dangerous. but he still keeps her around, wants her by his side and to be by hers. maybe it’s only because she's a reminder of ingo. that's okay. she'll keep him safe until ingo comes back.

they realize they're both trying to keep each other afloat. neither of them want to leave the other alone. and they reach an understanding that they’re both there for each other, they’ll provide support for each other, if even just by presence and company. the lampent stop following emmet. the litwick stay farther away from the paths and merely watch the two on their nocturnal ritual from the shadows with unlit wicks and curious eyes.

The submas brainworm is only getting stronger, so I have drafted a whole-ass comic for a new AU idea! One where Chandelure gets to take center stage and become the main character she was always meant to be~

The gist of the AU is that Chandelure has a ghostly soul-bond with Ingo, which essentially means that his soul is under her protection and he sorta registers as a ghost to other pokemon. Basically protects him from other ghosts trying to put their sticky paws on her trainer and also gives the two of them a bit of an empathetic connection. Not quite telepathy, but able to transmit complex feelings and lets them check how badly they're hurt.

Naturally, this means that when Giratina (who was honestly just trying to play around. They were given the tedious task of just opening rifts and looking through all those peep holes made them curious. So when they saw a soul that had a beautiful ghost bond, they became fascinated) snags Ingo and drags him through, Chandelure immediately feels when Giratina's power accidentally tries to overwhelm Ingo's soul and she absolutely loses her shit. Through psychically screaming and using her protective aura to try and bash Giratina, the distortion god acts like a dog that's done something they shouldn't and tries to hide the evidence of their messing around (Ingo getting fucked up via soul and getting not too gently dropped off a mountain).

I have more ideas, especially relating to how Emmet is taking his brother's ace losing her mind and how her actions affect the investigation, but if I keep going down these tracks I'm going to end up with another 90k WIP fic like i did with Naruto. (Though if people wanna see the AU written out...👀... I could absolutely be convinced. I'm very weak...)

A fat guy sorta just appears, holding some kind of object in his hand. Smallish, with a roundish upper half that's vaguely pointed and glistening like it's a bit wet, the other half a tan color.

"Hey, I've been learning how to make ice cream, and my dream intuition tells me that you, my haunted train conductor friend, are exactly the man who should try a taste. I'm Mike, by the way, I don't think we've canonically met."

The man holds up the ice cream. It does look familiar... Like Ingo's seen this before. It's also oddly enticing, like he already knows the taste.

Yeah, I spent I-don't-know-how-long trying to figure out if this pun made sense (<- non-English speaker heere) and looking into Chandelure's moveset before learning it can have "Fire Blast", so, so far, could be worse.

Not sure if this fits much "New Style" but I don't have a sense of fashion and searching "winter outfit men" on Pinterest didn't convince me (Elesa outfit's also isn't much better lmao).

I just imagined that, like, Elesa brought them shopping to add some change to their wardrobe and they ended up wanting to completely match their outfit of the day, same colors and all, so I made it a point to make sure you couldn't differenciate them at first glance haha (oh now that I'm writing this, I realize that Elesa also matching with them would have been cute, and that they wouldn't have been able to change into the new clothes right after buying them lmao)

I'm not good at coming up with (nick)names, but in "A Tragedy in Parts" on ao3, Ingo's Chandelure is named Luxa and I love it so I hesitated to do the same here, maybe I'll use it after I come up with names for their other team members

Pretty obvious answers here, but Chandelure and Eelektross!

I debated for quite a while with Eelektross vs Galventula/Joltik, but. I love Emmet with this giant weird eel puppy that follows him around like a streamer in the wind and probably chews on his hat. It's just a vibe. And he's probably cold and maybe even slimy (at least when he's wet) and not conventionally cute at all, but Emmet ADORES him and coos at him and keeps treats in his pocket all the time and Eelektross loves to wind around him any time Emmet is actually still, particularly during nap time. They're so cute! ♡

Ingo's is basically canon- When you walk through the tunnels with him in PLA, he remembers Chandelure before any other pokemon. In my own Hisuian Blankshipping AU, Emmet eventually Falls to Hisui too, and he brings all their team with him, so Ingo and Chandelure finally get to reunite! I'd like to think that she even eventually becomes a Noble. Most of the Nobles are meant to replace HMs or items- Wyrdeer is the bike, Ursaluna the itemfinder, Basculegion Surf, Sneasler Rock Climb, and Braviary Fly. Chandelure fulfills the role of Flash: she is summoned with the Celestica Flute in the dark tunnels of Mount Coronet, and she guides people through, just like her beloved trainer. ♡
