the most time i ever wasted was when i studied latin in high school like some kind of boy king for a year (because the school i attended offered classical history as an a level subject, so they wanted to give the students a chance to find out if it was something they'd be interested in) only i sucked ass at it and would just spent the entire hour of class each week enraptured by the raspy voice of the woman who taught it, a sixty-something year old chainsmoker with salt and pepper hair, thick ugly glasses and a swearing habit, who always wore these dark gauzy shawls with intricate patterned designs that i could barely tear my eyes away from. in hindsight it's embarrassingly obvious i had a gay little crush on her.
