Guqqie's and Aimsey's death feel incredibly frustrating to me.

They did a fantastic job setting up characters and a fun dynamic and I got really excited for that to be expanded through interaction between the rival factions. A Krestel and Kite oh the drama!

With the infected island we saw how it killed an entire population. Clearly wiped out through the builders+writers incredible environmental story telling.

Aimsey dying to the infection felt like a dramatic overstatement of how deadly and dangerous it is with nothing gained for the audience or fellow players.

Additionally the cutscenes death removed autonomy for the KITES. Preventing them from saving their fellow crewmate, who was on the same island not too far away. On a server about factions and groups it really sucked seeing them not matter at all in Aimsey's story.

For Guqqie, I was incredibly confused with their death. From a general POV, we see them get taken from the main group by two strangers and then just vanish. Next time they're seen it is in the cutscenes where they are climbing steps to some temple. Their death is not even explicitly shown, it's told by a Twitter post from the official Pirates SMP account.

Again, it felt like a removal of autonomy for their faction members, because there was no opportunity to save them by following the boat, (which several players were considering or making action to when the boat just vanished), or interacting with the kidnapping plot.

After both cutscenes and everyone's shock, the factions are all teleported to their bases and are left about their business.

A frustrating sense of tonal whiplash.

I think the player interaction, banter, and comedy of the server are incredible. The sets and mechanics are so adventurous and POW has done an incredible job.

But the ending of Aimsey and Guqqie was a big risk for the first day of the server and I think the gamble fell short.

I find myself not wanting to continue with Pirates because, if they did this to Guqqie and Aimsey, no doubt it will happen to other characters and I don't want to go through that frustration over and over.

I want to state again Aimsey and Guqqie were fantastic and I'm sharing these thoughts because of their interest in what the audience thinks.

And once more state POW Creations has done incredible work and took a big risk. I just did not like that risk.

How to start watching Area Unknown SMP

So you've heard of this amazing new smp, and you want to watch it but have no idea how to start? Well don't worry because this is a guide on how to start watching area unknown!

Area unknown is a lore smp started by Guqqie. It's all streamed on twitch, only person to have a video on YouTube rn is SpelledNik.

There’s no wiki at the moment but there is an updates account on twitter @/ausmp_updates. They post anytime someone is live on the server, any announcements, who joins, lore recaps etc! 

Currently there are 16 members on the server. So pick a pov and start watching! Because of how new the smp is, it's still in recent broadcasts on twitch. Some people have also saved their vods on YouTube so dw too much!

Scott's Pov- Au!Aimsey and Au!Scott are brothers. They're both like demons.Au!Scott is like the lord of the demon dimension and au!Aimsey ran away from home to the over world. Au!Scott decides to visit the over world to see where his brother has been since he ran away from home. You can imagine all the drama after. au!Scott plays like an antagonist role if that interests you.

Aimsey's Pov- I'm not fully caught up with Aimsey but they have some cool lore going on. As mentioned before their character is au!Scott's brother. But there's more to au!Aimsey. Very interesting character, i’m not gonna spoil anything so go check it out yourself

Owen's Pov- A friendly ghost who wants to be friends with everyone and help out! He only remembers things for 24 hours before forgetting. He hangs out with au!Scott and Au!Soup, i love him and I love the group dynamic

Eloise's Pov- Forced to be au!Scotts landlord after her home was taken by him. Her house is haunted by her ghost friend. Now she’s an axolotl. Will she ever catch a break? Au!Eloise is pretty cool pov to check out. She hangs out with au!Scott, au!Owen, au!Aimsey and au!Bek. If that sounds interesting go check her out! 

From there you can start watching other ccs on the smp and get invested like I have. Hope this post helps you in some way and have fun watching!

closeups and explanations of all the details in my big , big c!aimsey ; a semi-long post

i worked long and hard on this piece so reblogs are greatly appreciated ^_^ !!!

1. scrapbook formatting ; i've had this headcanon since the early days of c!aimsey that she keeps anything they can keep their hands on in a big , big journal/scrapbook . everything from flowers to drawings to daily journal entries . and this entire piece is just a mishmash of things they've collected over the years !

the spools of thread and pin cushion are a little callback to another hc i have that bloom taught their self to sew from a young age to repair damaged clothes :-)

2. c!guqqie's drawing ; this part is a little drawing i imagine cguq gave caims not too long after they met ! i tried my best to replicate guqqie's style while putting my own spin on it . the stickers were added by cguq , as shown by the Attempt at making them weathered .

3. photos and polaroids ; c!aimsey takes a lot of photos , much like cc!aimsey does ! so i made sure to include a handful

first off , past friends from the bearsmp : in order we have c!bear and c!bill on the top row with c!neptune and c!moonzy on the bottom . no other comments to add i just miss them :'-)

okay i realize now that this one doesn't make sense in the canon timeline , but i enjoy drawing c!ranboo much more than ghostboo so .....

and that's what i hc c!ran's handwriting looks like ! they used a glitter gel pen ^_^

and the c!guqqie polaroid is definitely one of my favorite parts of the entire piece . she just looks so happy here :'-))) . the butterfly is a small tortoiseshell butterfly , which are native to ireland . just for funsies bc cc!guqqie is irish lol

4. michael's drawing ; this one is another personal favorite ! i feel like i nailed the look of a child's drawing pretty well ^_^

this one is also up to interpretation . can michael see c!guqqie's ghost ? idk ! that's up to you ! (and those blurry dots are tear stains hehe)

5. c!aimsey playlist receipt ; this part was inspired by those spotify receipts . except i made this one by hand with a few songs from the official c!aimsey playlist made by aimsey themself . yeah it was pretty tedious but i'm proud of the outcome

6. extra bits ; stickers , stamps , and tickets to fill the empty spots ! adds to that scrapbook-y look too

7. c!aimsey info card ; no closeup for this one because i Did Not draw this part ! if i remember correctly , early bsmp members had a little passport-like infocard to go along with their addition to the server .

so i don’t usually post discourse-y stuff, but there’s been something that’s been bothering me so i’m speaking out about it.

people need to calm down about the deaths of aimsey’s and guqqie’s characters on pirates smp. like yes, i totally understand being upset that your streamer isnt going to be in an smp anymore, but i’ve seen folks somehow putting the blame on pow creations? like, i sincerely doubt owen and apo invited aimsey and guqqie to the smp and were like “oh yeah btw we’re killing off your characters on the first day.” like so many creators have said before: if it happens in a stream/video, then everyone involved was okay with it. this was the story aimsey and guqqie chose to tell, and complaining about it is frankly disrespectful to them.

another thing: pirates smp seems to have very similar vibes to outsiders smp in that this is going to be a much more serious story compared to rats smp. and i think that’s why so many folks have had such a drastic reaction to aimsey and guqqie’s characters being killed off, bc rats wasn’t like that. pirates smp seems like its going to be much more dramatic and intense with its storytelling (but ofc there is still a lot of fun bits too as we’ve seen!)

so tl;dr- yes its okay to be upset about aimsey’s and guqqie’s characters, but at the end of the day, remember that this is a story/lore based smp, and we should respect the cc’s decisions with their own characters. and hey, fanfic exists! write your own happy ending for aimsey and guqqie if you feel that strongly about it.
