Crowley is an optimist.

What if he pops down to hell to visit a certain nutter? Agnes Nutter.

It’s cannon that she recorded prophecies that occur after the events in the tv show. Maybe Crowley goes down to ask her what she knows… asks if there is any hope for Aziraphale and himself to have a little slice to themselves.

Has anyone written ff about this? I’d love to read it.

Prophecy nr. 3012 is only one I cant allocate, dont tell me its about Aziraphale and Crowley, when Agness adressed Aziraphale by "angel" "thyf " and "principalitee", whats the bit about the dragons? Because they have wings?

I always interpreted the "wings of fire" part of the prophecies to be a pretty overt reference to us, the readers, being narrated to. Obviously we can't really affect the world of Wings of Fire ourselves, but our existence forces the Powers that Be to try and make a satisfying ending.

we all know prophecies are unavoidable - even if you think you've gotten out of the bad bits, it's still going to come true

every. time.

well in the lightning thief, percy does save what matters most in the end. he stops the war, he saves his mom, his friends are all safe

technically, the prophecy isn't fulfilled

well what if, and just hear me out, what if the fates/oracle of delphi are waiting to finally fulfill the prophecy?

prophecies don't expire - they could potentially last hundreds of years (we only see ones that last max a couple months in the books outright, but the prophecies are applicable until they finish)

well,

✅ you shall go west and face the god who has turned

yep, they faced ares in the west

✅ you shall find what was stolen and see it returned

yep, both the master bolt and help were stolen, and returned by the trio

✅ you shall be betrayed by one who calls you friend

yep, Luke definitely betrayed Percy

❌ and you shall fail to save what matters most in the end

they...did save everything and everyone in the lightning thief though?

well, fast forward several years to the burning maze

technically the first prophecy from the lightning thief hasn't been completed

but then Jason dies

he wasn't able to be saved

he mattered - he was a son of Zeus, former praetor of Camp Jupiter, major peacemaker between the gods/demigods, and played a vital role in building more recognition for minor gods

he was vital, in a way

what if Jason's death was the close to the very first prophecy we ever read in Percy Jackson?

what if this prophecy connected to everything in the riordanverse, intentional or not?

jason's importance was built up throughout heroes of olympus and still recognized in trials of apollo when he made an appearance

the first time Percy doesn't agree to dropping everything for the gods, Jason does agree, and he ends up dying

and Percy couldn't save him

'and you shall fail to save what matters most in the end'

the prophecy may not have actually been fully fulfilled in the first book, or even the first series, but it was fulfilled, because that's the way prophecies work

the original consequence might have been avoided, but it was impossible to avoid it forever, and it ended in an incredibly important figure for both demigods and gods dying
