Early orv Han Sooyoung is so important to me. She's one of the three most powerful and important people in the universe and no one knows it including herself. The first time we meet her she's formed a cult. She convinces said cult to unleash a dragon that kills many people including the main character. Then she gets her head cut off by the protagonist and just keeps talking shit. The MC lectures her on plagiarism while she's a decapitated head. She thinks she's one step ahead of everyone. She's not. Dokja thinks he's got her all figured out. He really, really doesn't. They're both so silly and also their scheming causes many, many deaths. The first time we meet her main body, her carefully planned evil scheme, that we've been building up to for an entire arc, lasts all of 10 seconds before falling apart:

She's incredible. She's there solely to cause problems for everyone including herself. At this point I was already in love when the only thing I knew was that she was an evil loser who Dokja hated for being a plagarist. She then goes on to kill Dokja's bully, get cursed, antagonise Sangah, unsuccessfully try to convince everyone to kill a kid, and then get hit by a bus offscreen and dies. She fails upwards more than any white man you know. Who's doing it like her honestly.

bradley "rooster" bradshaw x reader, some swearing, angst, 1.7k (she's a long one ik hehe)
You never really wanted Bradley to know how much you missed him when he was gone. Your worries tended to consume you and a lot of the time it showed, even though you tried your best to remain neutral on your sporadic video calls with him. The last thing you wanted was for him to worry about you when he was out there in the skies. He needed complete and total focus, and you knew that, but sometimes you couldn’t help it. 
He looked beyond tired when he appeared on your laptop screen today—dark circles under his eyes, shoulders sagging under an intense invisible weight that you’d never truly understand, the whole nine yards. But he still brightened when he saw you, somehow still managing to look like a dream despite his clear exhaustion and the grainy video quality.
“Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes,” He said, adjusting his screen until his head was fully in view. “Hi honey, how are you?” 
“I feel like I should be the one asking you that,” You chuckled. “How are you? Are you getting enough sleep? Eating okay?” 
“Yes ma’am.” You suspected he was lying just to please you, but you’d let it slide this time. You were going to see him in a few weeks, you could rag on him then. With love, of course. “I saw the picture you emailed last week, by the way. I hope you bought that dress, ‘cause as good as it looked on you, it’s gonna look so much better on the bedroom floor when I get home.” 
“Bradley!” You hissed, cheeks growing hot. 
“What?” He asked incredulously, shit-eating grin very present on his face. “I can’t admire my gorgeous girlfriend anymore?” 
“Not like that when there’s other people around!” 
“Oh, come on, they don’t care. Coyote, you mind if I love on my girl a little bit right now?” 
“I’m not even in the room.” came Coyote’s voice, probably paired with an amused smirk. “Hey, Y/N.” 
“Hi, Javy.” You sighed, sinking a little lower in your chair in embarrassment. Bradley was entirely comfortable around his fellow naval aviators, as he should be, but that didn’t mean you wanted any of them to hear your conversation with your boyfriend. “Maybe we could continue this conversation another time and talk about something else while I have you here?” 
“Don’t be shy, baby. It’s just Coyote here, if it makes you feel any better.” It didn’t. “He’s waiting to talk to his mom.” Cute, but still uncomfortable. 
“I don’t think—” 
“It’s not like I showed him the picture. We’re just talking!” He chuckled, grinning cheekily. 
“I feel like you’re not really listening to me right now, Bradley.” You blurted, feeling a pang of guilt shoot through you right after. He was out there only god knows where and here you were making a fuss because your feelings were a little hurt. But that was rule number one of having a partner overseas: make sure they know how you feel. Be firm but gentle. 
He sobered up instantly, sitting forward in his seat with an intent look aimed at you. “Okay. Sorry.” He looked offscreen, muttered something you couldn’t make out, and when you heard the shutting of a door, you knew he’d just shooed Coyote out of the room so the two of you could talk in private. “You’ve got me now, I’m listening. What’s wrong?” 
“I just…I miss you.” 
“I miss you too, sweetheart. So much.” Bradley said solemnly. He tilted his head. “That’s not it though, is it?” 
“It’s nothing. Don’t worry about me, I’m fine.” You shook your head, smiling at him. Or trying to, really. Bradley could always see right through you. 
“No you’re not. C’mon, sweet girl, tell me what’s wrong.” 
“I’m worried.” You admitted. 
“About?” 
“You.” 
His expression turned reassuring, tone soft and as soothing as it could be through the static warping it. “Hey, you don’t have to be, y’know. I’m in good hands over here, okay? I’m gonna be totally fine.” 
I’m gonna be totally fine. That should’ve been enough to reassure you, but after the last time he’d said something along the same lines ended with him in the hospital for a few weeks, it didn’t. 
“I just want you to be careful, that's all.” 
“I’m always careful.” He nodded. “Just pretend I’m right there with you, it’ll be fine.” 
“Yeah well, you’re not here, Bradley. Easier said than done.” Your words were entirely a heat of the moment thing, but the clench of his jaw at the statement was enough for you to know that you’d just stepped in it. 
“What’s that supposed to mean? You think I wanna be away from you all the time? That it’s easy for me? This is my job, Y/N, I can’t just say no when they tell me I have to leave.” He said, voice strained and low. 
“That’s not what I meant and you know it.” 
“Yeah. Right. You didn’t mean it at all, sure. Of course you didn’t. You just don’t trust me, do you?” 
“No, I—” 
“No, you don’t trust me?”
“Will you let me finish, Bradley?” You huffed, letting out a sharp breath. 
“You think I’m reckless.”
This was why you didn’t even want to bring your worries up in the first place. Bradley had a tendency to lash out when he was upset or felt cornered, jumping to conclusions because he didn’t know what else to do. It was something he assured you he was actively working on, but when things got a little tense, he seemed to revert right back to his ways.
“Sometimes, yeah!” Shit. You hadn’t meant for that to come out either. Out the window went rule number two: don’t spend the limited screen time you have arguing with your partner. A muscle in Bradley’s jaw ticked. “Damnit, I didn’t mean to—” 
“I think we should talk about this another time. Neither of us are in the headspace to have this conversation right now.” He said, weirdly calm. 
You opened your mouth to respond, but before you could say anything to try and fix the shitshow you’d just stirred up, alarm bells sounded faintly from the background of Bradley’s side of the call. His back went ramrod straight, your blood ran cold. Something was wrong. 
“Bradley, what’s going on? What’s happening over there?” 
He looked around, craning his neck to listen if he could hear anything else that would clue him in. “I don’t know. We should’ve been in the clear by now, I don’t know what—” 
Bradley disappeared from your screen before he could finish his worryingly panicked sentence, leaving you staring at your own reflection where he just was a split second ago. 
A message flashed across the previously blank screen. 
Your call has been disconnected. 
“No, no, no, no, fuck,” You breathed, dragging your finger back and forth on the trackpad frantically. Nothing. You tried calling him back. Still nothing. Then it began to set in. 
What if something really did happen and this was the one time he didn’t come home?  That might’ve been your last call with Bradley and you wasted it on some stupid argument that seemed so insignificant now despite it happening mere seconds ago. You didn’t even get to tell him you loved him.
You might never get to tell him you loved him ever again.

There was nothing but radio silence on Bradley’s end for the remainder of the mission, and it was agony for you. You weren’t sure if he was okay, you weren’t even sure if he was alive, but you knew you had to go on as usual. Because if you stopped even for a second to think about what did or didn’t happen the last time you saw him, you weren’t sure if you’d make it to find out. 
You were up out of bed the second you heard the front door slam shut in the distance the day Bradley was scheduled to come home, hurrying down the hall. Bradley was standing stock still in the foyer, eyes flitting around at his surroundings until they landed on you. 
His duffel dropped to the floor with a dull thump, shoulders drooping, and when he met your gaze, his eyes were rimmed red. He looked a mess, as you were sure you did too, but the only thing that ran through your mind was that he was here. 
You rushed forward, all but throwing yourself into his arms with a cry. “I’m sorry, Bradley. I’m so, so sorry, I didn’t mean what I said, I never meant to—” 
“Hey, shhh, it's okay baby,” Bradley soothed, lips pressed against your temple as his arms tightened around you. “I know. I know you didn't mean it, I didn’t mean it either. It’s okay.” 
“No, it’s not. I don’t know what I’d do if something happened and the last thing I said to you was…” You couldn't even finish your sentence before a choked sob ripped through your chest, your hands fisting themselves into his jacket in a poor attempt to ground yourself. “I didn’t even know if you were—you were okay, or if—” You inhaled a shuddering breath, fighting another sob. 
“I’m fine, I promise. Our comms got knocked out, but we were fine,” He assured you, stroking a hand up and down the curve of your spine. He cradled the back of your head gently but firmly, his other hand the weight that you desperately needed to reassure you that he was here. “I hated that I couldn't call you back, but I’m okay, honey. I'm okay, I’m right here.” 
Bradley leaned his forehead against yours, taking your hands as soon as you stopped clinging to him and pressing them against his face so you could feel the warmth of his skin, the stubble on his cheeks, his calloused palms on the back of your hands. 
“I love you, Bradley.” 
“I love you with everything I’ve got, sweet girl.” He said, kissing the inside of your wrist tenderly. You smiled through your tears. “Are we okay?” He murmured, eyes searching yours for any semblance of an answer. You kissed him hard instead of responding, hoping that he would see that you didn’t care about whatever the hell you were arguing about anymore. It didn’t even matter, all that mattered was that he came home to you. 
He looked dazed when you pulled away, blinking at you dumbly for a split second before grinning at you. “Well, now that that’s out of the way, let’s go see that dress, hm? See if it looks even better in person.” 
You couldn’t even find it in yourself to be exasperated at his cheekiness.

Hi, I’m finding it difficult to wrap my head around your (and some other meta writers) take on Sokka’s sexism and how writing a nonsexist society would be braver?
Why is it more brave to write a story without bigotry than one overcoming it?
Defensive Writing Section Where I Respond to What I Imagine You Could Respond With: 1) I know the original series did not succeed in, or even really try, empowering its women. 2) I know sexism is baked into the show and its romances. 3) I know Katara deserves better (but, this might be where we diverge, I don’t feel served by a reality/story where we pretend women’s domestic, unappreciated labor isn’t a pillar holding society up. Tbh it feels kinda disrespectful to keep that offscreen and media tends to downplay it as is). 4) I know the show isn’t out yet and we’re all guessing. I am picking your brain on your guess cause it confused me. 5.) Sokka’s arc is about maturing manhood and leadership, I’m afraid removing his sexism dodges an opportunity to explicitly deconstruct its toxic expressions. Again, I know the show was unsatisfactory with this the first go around.
Fan Mail Section Where I Attempt To Convey I Meant No Harm: Love your blog! Again, just confused.
First of all, I did not say that writing a nonsexist society would be braver or that the story should not have bigotry in it. What I said is that the story should have more adult women in it.
For example, I do enjoy Katara's story of struggling against feeling like she needs to take on a motherly role because of her gender. I think it's realistic because it's a conflict many girls face, and watching her fight against that can be cathartic. But what's harder to reconcile is the way the narrative goes out of its way to justify forcing this role on Katara. Not all of this can be chalked up to a sexist world. Kya being dead before the story begins was a decision the writers made, for example. I'm not necessarily saying that should be changed, but it is a common trope in media and it's a problem that women are disproportionately killed off to serve fictional narratives this way. Compare, for example, the way the story explains Hakoda's absence without killing him off entirely, and the fact that we know a heck of a lot more about him as a character than we do Kya. His absence is still used to characterize the heroes, to explain the struggle they face in a war-torn world, but he gets to be an active agent in the story, too.
Another example is that although a lot of Sokka's sexism stems from a lack of understanding of Katara's waterbending, which can be explained in the narrative by the fact that the FN has nearly eradicated southern waterbending, this does not explain why Katara wasn't taught more about her bending by her grandmother, who is both from the northern tribe and present when Hama and the other benders were taken. In the flashbacks in "The Puppet Master," we see that there were many women who used combat waterbending, and apparently waterbending healing was not even known in the south so there was no gendered division like in the north. There's no real reason why that should change so quickly in such a short amount of time to the point where the southern water tribe all of the sudden becomes this hugely sexist society where only men are known to fight.
Katara and Sokka are presented with opposite ideas about gender, but we don't have any real sense of where they got these ideas. I like to headcanon that Katara got her feminism from gran-gran, who fled the southern water tribe because of sexism, but it's strange then that Katara doesn't even know this story. Why is Kanna such a complete nonentity in the narrative, when her story is so important to the story the show wants to tell about Katara?
We get more backstory on Sozin than we do a lot of the adult women in the story, when they even show up. Zuko's mom is fridged just like Katara's, and although I love how this serves as a bonding point between them, it would be less glaring if Iroh's and Azulon's and Sozin's wives were also not nonentities in the narrative.
Someone commented on this post that the live action might be giving us Suki's mom. So let's look at how even this small change might effect the story. Even keeping in Sokka's sexism. Let's say that it does play out like in the original, and when they get to Kyoshi Island, Sokka is shocked - shocked! - to be beaten by a bunch of women. We're supposed to think Sokka is wrong. And he does get proven wrong. But the Kyoshi Warriors are still the exception to the rule. Sokka doesn't so much learn that women deserve respect as much as he learns to respect some women because they can kick his ass.
But, if we bring in Suki's mom, then suddenly Suki doesn't have to be the sole named character responsible for teaching Sokka not to be sexist. The story becomes less about how Sokka should respect women because some of them are cool and he'll get a girlfriend out of it, and more about how all women deserve the same respect, because we see more women just present and living in the world of the story.
I'd also like to ask everyone to take a step back here, because to my knowledge, the show never said it was taking out certain arcs or presenting the characters without narrative flaws. This all seems to stem from the young actors themselves saying merely that the show took out some "iffy" moments.
So what did they take out that Ian and Kiiawntio might be referring to? Maybe some of the anachronistic and, frankly, racist moments such as, for example, Sokka and Katara calling Zuko and Sokka's cultural hairstyles "ponytails." Which would make sense, considering that the show probably feels like they can trust their audience to accept hairstyles that might appear different to Americans moreso than the writers of the original show did, considering that this is not a show airing on American kids' cable in the early 2000s, but a modern show with a global and much more globally aware audience. These are the kinds of updates that I would expect from a modern live action series. And that is a very good thing.
I also trust the young actors of color playing these kids to say "hey, these kids would not actually talk like that!" More than I trust white writers and execs.

I have a friend who worked on season 7 who told me about a lot of the Standards & Practices stuff they had to make sure to put in, stuff like characters wearing like water wings or life jackets when swimming and stuff like that, even if their presence doesn't entirely make sense. The Discord Tea Party episode was one where I first noticed that, with Fluttershy suddenly having safety glasses that I think she just tosses offscreen when she finished nailing everything to the ceiling. (this friend also told me about how strict production was about continuity, citing very real concerns about irate fans at the time literally coming to their office)
S&P continues to cause some of the funniest shit possible purely by being an entire committee with sticks up their ass, i think fluttershy putting on safety goggles for like one entire second was hilarious. also omg can u imagine being so weird about horse continuity you show up at the offices of the show??? couldnt be me

ep. V: the empire strikes back--the millenium falcon achieves hyperspeed again, despite the imperials' best plans to the contrary. admiral piett and his men are terrified of vader's reaction, all trying to stay out of his path. but he's still too busy brooding on his loss of luke to even force-choke anyone. that's how thrown off he was by his newly-mutilated son running away from him!

the sole exception to this collective terror being this guy, so intent on his own important work, that he doesn't even notice his scary boss until darth vader has walked right past him.
ep. III: revenge of the sith--padme's droids somehow getting her unconscious body back on her ship.

in the novelisation, r2-d2 just drags her up the ramp with his gadgetry, but in the script it's c-3po who carried her up bridal style. which would be impossible to film when 3po could barely manage to move around under his own weight. what makes it really funny for me is that there was no need for any of this. why not just have obi-wan pick her up as he's hurrying outta there after failing to kill her husband? i mean, it's surely not good to be lying out in the open on a volcanic world with poisonous gases, but it wouldn't be good for obi-wan running around out there either, and this lady was about to have broken heart as her only known cause of death. when has science ever held back star wars? and i can't imagine that being dragged by wires from artoo or dropped every few steps by threepio could've been too good for her body either. just makes for an absurd little (offscreen) background detail amid the tragedy of the end of padme's life, imho.
ep. IV: a new hope--obi-wan vanishing into thin air when struck down and vader's (very understandable) bafflement afterward.

by this point in the second screencap, luke is shooting at him in retaliation and the stormtroopers are all shooting back at luke, but anakin is still dealing with this unprecendented vanishing and busy searching for any corporeal remains of obi-wan kenobi with his boot. "where did you go, my old master? how could this happen? i wasn't done fighting with you yet."
ep. V: the empire strikes back--vader inviting lando calrissian, chewbacca, han solo, and princess leia to share a meal with him and boba fett, before taking chewie, han, and leia prisoner and torturing han.

i think a lot of people must assume there was no actual meal, but it's not like vader had to go to all that trouble in the first place of setting out an entire banquet table with proper containers and utensils. just because that was lando's pretext to bring them to vader does not necessitate actually having a table set. darth vader could have had them led into any other room with boba fett and stormtroopers waiting to just arrest them right away. instead, as we can see in the second screencap, (over lando's shoulder and leia's bun), vader did sit down at the head of the table, waiting for his prey to join him. and i swear, in one of the earlier drafts of empire's screenplay there is actually a scene showing their awkward meal together. or rather, han and leia being served food and drinks while darth vader just sits there, watching evilly, explaining his great villainous plan to use them to trap luke. it's like dr. evil making austin and vanessa sit down at his table in the first austin powers movie. darth vader really did always live for drama
ep. VI: return of the jedi--leia telling han that she loves luke, but not that way. he's her brother, silly! as if this is something they all knew all along, with zero follow-up explanation. you can just see han wordlessly processing this bombshell of brand new information through his facial expressions alone. (this lasts so long that i wouldn't even count it were it not likely overshadowed by everything else in the ending of rotj.)

Many quotes/sayings exist in many different languages and many different cultures, all carrying the same meaning. The meaning that while mistakes can and WILL happen, a person should learn from those mistakes to not repeat them. Making mistakes is natural, understandable. Repeating those same mistakes over and over however, indicates a problem, a problem that rarely has an excuse.
RT is no different in this regard. As always, we are at the point where the crew commentary is released, that part of the year when many a critic and fan can read the thought of the crew producing RWBY, and despair at what they see.
It was revealed and i think known a bit before the recent days that RWBY Volume 9 had an entire episode cut, in the second part of the show. It was "unforseen" complications that lead the crew needing to cut a lot of stuff and keep the "most important" parts of the episodes, thats why after Ruby suicide the cut-away seemed so strange.
While i did not see CRWBY make any excuses (yet) about this besides saying that it happened, many fans are already doing it for them, simply saying that these are just "expected" things in production, that CRWBY are not to blame, and yet, they are.
Priorities
First of all, CRWBY are the ones who decide on what parts of the show to prioritize in production. On Twitter Eddy Rivas confirmed that episodes 1-7 were fully produced before episodes 8+ were. The argument presented there is that the solution of "Cutting things from 1-7 and add more to 8+" doesnt work because they were both done at different times of production.
While that is true it does pose a question on why exactly does CRWBY keep doing this then? This problem is not new, the fact that many of RWBY volumes are very back-ended and it causes problems is not new and has been known for a long time now. This is the reason why in most of the Volumes, critics usually focus on things that happen at the end of the Volume, because that is when most of the problems with things like writing occur.
So why continue doing this? So many of RWBY plotlines can be better distributed alongside the entire Volume instead of trying to cram it in at the last second. Lets take for example a character like Oscar. Volume 7 proved that Oscar and his relationship/changes due to Ozpin can be very well done if its all distributed properly in the Volume. Compare this to V6 where it all has to happen offscreen just because "There is no time" to explore Oscar.
Why is then so much of V9 so back-ended? Apparently there was going to be an explanation there that Neo gained her new powers because she landed in the God of Darkness acre. The Ascencion phenomena was going to be expanded upon. We have Ruby and her suicide. We have Jaunes break-down. We have Rubys break-down and i could go on.... and on.... There is just SO MUCH there, why?
The explanations of Neos powers could have been done earlier in the Volume. Ascencion could have been distributed during the entire V9 etc.
Instead we have parts of an episode focused on a talking trash panda that ends up not mattering as an example?
It just feels like the wrong things are prioritized in the show and most of them are back-loaded to such an extent that its INEVITABLE that it will cause a point of failure. Just like it did the REST of the times with the preceding Volumes. Why has that lesson not been learned yet?
When one builds something, the most important first parts are a skeleton. You can do the rest later, but you should have the MAIN feature of your product finished first, everything else is extra. And yet it seems that RWBY constantly tries to do everything at once and then when they inevitably fail to actually finish it all, they start cutting important stuff.
Ambition
The other problem is that there is just SO MUCH SHIT that they want to do. They want to use the Ever After to confirm BB and to further give their relationship time. They want to focus on Neo, her new powers (Now related to the God of Darkness). They want the Ever-After to explore Ruby and Jaune and their developments after V8. They want to explore the concepts of acceptance and reincarnation. They want to develop a new character, Little. They want to connect the Ever-After with the gods of RWBY. Thats just SOME of what they tried to focus on, and at the end of the day, isnt it a bit much?
This always happens with RWBY, the show writers dont seem to understand their limitations and they try to cram as MANY ideas as they can into a Volume, when that Volume wont be able to properly develop those ideas in the first place. This is why a lot of RWBY kingdom arcs feel like they miss an entire extra Volume, be it Mistral or Atlas. They simply have no time to develop the concepts they want.
But instead of cutting down on them and focusing on whats most important, they keep stuffing more and more things into the show. And then decide "Well, people will understand/guess what we kept offscreen".
Did you know that Neo got her new powers with Jabberwocker (Basically, literal fucking death?) because she landed in an Acre that belonged to the gods of RWBY? Well, we were supposed to "Guess" or "Understand" that according to the writers. HOW? I have no idea. But we were "Supposed to".
This is the kind of thing, this bloat that plagues many an indie development. Where the developers/makers just add more and more features that pop into their heads, instead of focusing on what they already have and is important.
Understandable in V1-V3. But holy hell RT is a full on corporation right now, so now its no longer understandable.

Anyways, apologies for being missing in a large capacity for this, entire month i think? Way too much stuff to do, also got involved with wiki editing, which takes a lot of time. Next thread will be next week and i will focus on the suicide/reincarnation/acceptance message that the Volume tried to portray, because the crew commentary has given me more info to talk about.
"Budget" and "Cuts" stop being excuses for the shows writing when its a regular occurrence.

Charlie hazbin reduced to an extra
S1 should have sold us on Charlie entirely, her ideas and motives, her connections with others or lack of.

Others keeping major secrets from her, working at her place because someone else wants them to, accepting bribes offscreen in a pilot episode that's pretty much mandatory viewing but selectively cannon, fighting besidr her in war when they had no choice and simply not wanting her to die, all don't tell us anything about how much Charlie is loved or even liked.
Charlie worked as both Lucifer and Adam's strawman, they are two individuals who are and aren't at opposite ends, both are mad at the sinners and are happy to see them brutally slain, however neither like one another, their is a rivalry on one side and torment from the other, yet for all these years they somehow existed keeping their distance from one another whilst sticking to an agreement that benefited both of them, which was dealing with the sinners. Charlie served simply to bring these two perpetrators together.

Lucifer could have been the main or singular hurdle whilst still being an unthreatening goof, simply by thinking her idea was a waste of time and putting her in a position where she would have to explain or prove herself. What if he didn't have the resources to easily get Charlie an audience in heaven, what would his use be then?
Why wasn't his involvement called out? This would have been better grounds for Charlie to guilt trip her daddy over rather than 'distant during childhood' and 'never supporting me giving me what I want' she chose to sulked about which got her her own way.

Since Charlie managed a pointless talk with Adam back in episode 1 and so much effort has been made to tell us Alastor is this big threat that even Lucifer is weary of immediately, if only she had entered into her meeting with her dad with a load of options, showing her as a little more competent and bringing her back into focus.
Adam successfully got someone a place in heaven, ironically, with minimal effort. This someone was easily the most deserving of sinners we met and was worst of all, someone who Charlie wasn't even looking at as the ideal redemption candidate.

Charlie appeared to look to popularity, a juicy storyline and a cool friend, if her portrayal were to shift to highlight a bit of a shallow person then we would have great grounds for development, but s1 ended and that didn't happen, she didn't move on from 'nice' and 'innocent' and in effect it was Adam, the villain nobody cared about who did Charlie's job which was more than a job but her whole dream and purpose, for her - Charlie is oblivious to this last part, but knowing this wouldn't help her cause neither.
Lucifer rushed in to save the day just in the nick of time, him and Adam shared some of their history with us, it was all about them, them the baton got passed.

Just watched the new helluva episode and..ugh okay opinions under the cut.
Some people are saying this episode is better than the others of season 2. And while visually it’s stunning and not as directly insulting as some of the others, I think this episode is one of the best examples of how these writers don’t understand pacing, comedic timing, or creating a coherent plot. The cuts between locations happen way too fast, some scenes feel like they were written under a minute just to add fluff (like the Moxxie hat fight, Blitz talking with the woman in the waiting room and the entire joke once again just being a character saying curse words or insults multiple times in a sentence, camera crews conveniently being at the hospital to see Stolas hurt for some reason.) Also god Stella. At least when they made her a one-dimensional boring villain she was competent at being one. Now she just looks like a whiny idiot so they could have her brother be there for no reason.
Speaking of which, that was a damn terrible introduction to Andrealphus. Unless your following updates about the show on Twitter, you don’t know who the fuck that is, why he’s here or what his connection to either Stella or Stolas is until now, there’s only been one passing mention she even had a brother before this. He’s just suddenly there with no proper introduction, and then Striker just appears now to kidnap Stolas in front of tons of other people (I guess him trying to kill Stolas with the angelic weapon hidden in the shadows didn’t matter that much after all) and take him back to an underground lair he has for some reason. He also brings up the classist system and Stolas’s bigotry but it doesn’t matter because he hurt the poor uwu prince baby 🙄 I swear it feels like this show is AI generated at this point, or at the very least the writers know that the pretty animation and shipping fuel will keep diehard fans around so they don’t actually have to make anything tightly written and can just do whatever random hodgepodge of scenes and dialogue they like. Which whatever its clear this show is just “the sex joke” show most of the time, but don’t then try to tell me this is some masterclass of writing and character development when the entire climax of Stolas and Blitz’s relationship problems at Ozzie’s was addresses ENTIRELY OFFSCREEN THROUGH TEXT MESSAGES. Even if you ship Stolas and Blitz, how the hell can you accept that? That’s the sloppiest way they could have handled that, I don’t even like this show and I feel disrespected lmao.
And just the way they tried to make us “feel” for their relationship this episode. Why the hell would Blitz be so shocked Stolas could get hurt, you literally fought Striker before because he was two seconds away from killing Stolas instantly otherwise?? You were hired to be his bodyguard in one episode! Like yeah maybe actually seeing it happen is causing the reality of it to sink in for Blitz, but everything we’ve been shown so far INCLUDING IN THIS EPISODE shows how much he does not care that much about Stolas and at best has a mild acceptance of him (at least outside of seeing stars which everybody’s already talked about how weird that entire thing was). I literally have no idea why we are suppose to be rooting for these two to get together at this point. It’s just watching uwu Stolas get hurt over and over again so we can pity the guy and wonder why Blitz wont love him boohoo 🙄 it’s annoying and not fun to watch. Also this might be more of a nitpick, but did anyone else think characters looked weirdly off model a lot in this episode? Like yeah the animation was impressive at some points during the action scenes but during regular dialogue it looked like it was done by a completely different studio than the other episodes, especially with Stella, Andrealphus, Millie, and Moxxie. Not sure what that’s about or if I’m just imagining it.

Do you think they originally had a different plan for Ms Bowen? Tbh I thought it was a wild move to break up RK since almost everyone was rooting for them and their romance is just how shows like that go, but I do wonder if Ms Bowen was supposed to be something more for Roy. Then the chemistry with Jamie exploded all over the place and they switched tracks
hmm I mean maybe in very early drafts they had larger plans for Ms. Bowen, but I can't imagine it was still on the table when they were plotting s3, because if so they would have just written that instead of writing an entire season of roy and jamie best friendism and maybe more, lol.
I understand why people were/are upset about roykeeley breakup but I personally was expecting it when I went in to s3 based on where we left them in the s2 finale. And I gotta say that after rewatching s2 it feels more inevitable to me than ever that this was where it was always headed between them. Which is not to say that I think their problems are insurmountable or that there isn't a path open for them to get back together! I definitely do! But yeah, s2 is just episode after episode continually showcasing what isn't working between them. They're already foreshadowing the downfall practically from the moment they get together. (and i do think it's interesting that the Christmas episode, which is arguably roykeeley's best s2 episode in terms of them geling within their established relationship, was added later. If we hadn't gotten that, wow we wouldn't have much at all of them genuinely being on the same page, would we?) Biggest shock for me was that the breakup was offscreen and that the follow up to that arc was so shoddy and disappointing.
As for Ms. Bowen... I think in the s2 scene, Roy is drawn to her not only because they have a nice back-and-forth banter going, but also (and crucially) because of the momentary allure of her lifestyle, which is so very different from his own. On the one hand Roy is stressing about Keeley's photoshoot, where the VF people have already told him he's basically going to be a prop to make her look good. So he's feeling insecure and like Keeley is on her way up while he's on his way out, petering into irrelevancy in the public eye. On the other hand is Ms Bowen. And in that moment, he almost feels like he's on more equal footing with Ms. Bowen, who's just a regular woman with a regular profession outside of the spotlight doing well for herself, than he is with Keeley. So Ms. Bowen provides him a temporary relief from the problems of his own life in a way that appeals to him (for three hours, apparently).
But like, the reality is that all we see them talking about is Ms Bowen being good at her job, what her jobs entails, Phoebe, the other children, etc. He doesn't learn her first name! It's pretty harmless flirting, not a very deep connection or a particularly meaningful conversation, and I don't think we were ever meant to see it as such (just my opinion, there's a bunch of shippers out there I know!). She's an easy escape, and then Roy's phone buzzes with the reminder to go to the photoshoot, and Roy steps back into his own life, which he was always going to return to.
I'm honestly less clear what the point of her reappearance in s3 was for because I'm not sure it really works as Roy's big epiphany moment for me... her telling him he was stuck is literally nothing Rebecca didn't already tell him! and "I hope that mess didn't cause too much damage" is such an odd Realization™️ line to prompt Roy to action because 1) he already knew it caused damage. He was there and saw Keeley's face when he told her he'd talked to Ms Bowen for 3 hours and 2) I dislike how that frames it as Roy flirting with Ms Bowen being THE driving force in the r/k breakup, when the reality is it was the very tip of the iceberg in a relationship that was falling apart no matter what. I think you could argue it was the point of no return, so maybe that's what they were going for? But they don't make that very clear because they don't write a very specific apology for Roy, do they! ugh. idk. If anyone has better insight they want to offer me please do!

begin again COOKED as a post-qotd fix-it (fave fic! <3) but i need to know your thoughts on prince lestat/how you would re-do it in the correct way. to this day i still think LESTAT becoming prince monarch of all the vampires is one of the craziest decisions made during the novels. to me lestat is a prince in the same way that jack skellington was king of halloween (that includes the running away to cause delusional hijinks that ultimately jeapordize everyone)
Aaahhh thank you!! That fic is my child that I birthed so I appreciate it more than you know! It's actually BA's one year finished-iversary next week, my baby's all grown up.
I've talked about that before actually in this post about how I would rewrite the whole series, but I can expand a little here!
Firstly, this could've been two books instead of three. There was nothing going on in there that required three entire novels
Things that have to go entirely: aliens, test tube clone baby Viktor, Atlantis. Sorry, not salvageable
I think rather than the Amel thing, it would have been cool if the sacred core had started corrupting Lestat and altering his behavior as host, maybe changing him gradually into a animalistic, violent folklore-like vampire, making him slowly lose his mind like Mekare, or erasing his sense of self to become a blank host. Then it's a race against the clock and vampire magical biology to save him. This could be the first PL book
Ideally, I think this book should be narrated by Louis and focus a lot on his growth as a character as he finishes his personal. It would bring some happy ending closure to the IWTV version of him without being a jarring change. I also think having his POV for the best of his and Lestat's relationship would be a nice full circle moment from seeing him describe their worst. The idea of Lestat losing himself to the core and them potentially coming together too late would add good drama as well. Maybe this is Louis' follow-up memoir describing how they fixed things
The Rhoshamandes conflict can stay for the second PL and final VC book, but I think it could've been less boring if the drama between him and Lestat had been better fleshed out. They have a lot of similarities that weren't used to their full advantage. It would really highlight Lestat's growth to have him defeat what he could've become
When Lestat reunites with Louis, they would actually have some long, hard conversations about their past, ones that continue throughout the PL trilogy
Hopefully an explanation for why Lestat has made this 180 is included, even if it's just the crushing realization of his own loneliness and longing reaching critical mass after twenty years of who the fuck knows what
The cast is pared down to the strongest written and most interesting characters so the story isn't spread so thin, probably Lestat, Louis, Armand, Gabrielle, Marius, Pandora, and maybe a small handful of new characters with significance in the story. I think Seth, Fareed, Sevraine had the most potential to be good additions to the primary roster if she wanted to add on
Cool characters from the original like trilogy like Maharet and Khayman are expanded on rather than killed offscreen to make room for more Anne Rice NPCs. If we're going to kill someone from the trilogy, please God let it be David Talbot
This goes without saying I think, especially from me, but Louis would be restored to his former glory as a true main character alongside Lestat instead of relegated to lobotomized housewife. There was so much potential for him in an active consort role. We also don't get to see how he got to such a peaceful place at the end of PL, so I would like to see him work through some stuff on the page
I would either cut the Rhoshamandes/Benedict storyline because of how redundant it is with how it mirrors the Marius/Armand dynamic or do something to differentiate it as its own relationship. At the very least, maybe the similarity could be highlighted to become a character beat for Armand
As far as Armand in general, I would make him a much more prominent player. I think he's a great fit for a court setting and could create a lot of intrigue as well as adding coolness factor. I'm always torn about whether I like the reveal of his romantic feelings for Lestat, but in the interest of keeping SOME things intact, I would just play it differently. Primarily, I think he becomes way too agreeable (similar to Louis) in how he submits to and idolizes Lestat, so I would love to see him come into more conflict with Lestat in spite of those feelings. Maybe we can see him make some peace with their history and let go of that intense emotion for something healthier
If we're going to keep the sex injections (IVs, whatever), I think we should do more with it than have Lestat prematurely ejaculate into a random woman. I think there's potential for a very interesting new dynamic with Louis and Lestat. It would be cathartic and maybe an interesting part of their healing process and of becoming a real couple for the first time
That's what I can think of for now, but I might update later!

Whenever people use Jaune being an old man to hype up his character, it really brings a strange feeling. Everything Jaune received in the Ever After was offscreen and unearned.
Supposed decades of experience and emotional development are not naturally part of Jaune the character. They're "cool factors" tacked on.
Everything Jaune has received period has been unearned. The hot girl prodigy fell for him just cause, despite him being an asshole to her. He got to stay at Beacon despite being woefully unprepared and unqualified, not to mention how it put his teammates in danger. He got made the leader of that team despite his utter lack of fighting ability, tactical acumen (no, "hit it harder" isn't good tactics), and charisma. Pyrrha kept trying to teach him and help him even when he rejected her help like a jackass. He got away from Cinder because Pyrrha just… decided to go die? For no reason? He got to use Pyrrha's gear to upgrade his instead of taking it to her family and with no pushback from RNR. He survived Cinder again because she just decided to attack Weiss instead? For no reason? He came up with the brilliant plan to cripple an entire city's defences (the city his sister's family lives in, no less!) and steal a military aircraft and had no repercussions. He gets idolised for being fearless when we know damn well he's afraid of lots of things, and when being fearless would be proof of a mental condition rather than courage. He gets to be the hero of a fairy tale known worldwide, again just cause. Weiss is suddenly thirsting for him despite his harassment and her absolute disinterest for the entire series prior.
Jaune is a fucking virus, sucking up all the host's (the show's) resources and killing it slowly.

The year is 2025. RWBY may or may not still be in hiatus, or cancelled, or still ongoing.
At least 50 more useless side characters have been added to the cast.
Maria and Pietro are still missing. Ruby comments by saying "Huh, I wonder where Maria and Pietro are". Yang replies "Maybe they're off on a date", Blake replies "Oddly wholesome" and they all laugh together.
The current villain is a dark-skinned male Faunus who happens to be a working-class family man who is fighting for a social issue that is oddly relevant to some real-life events in 2025. But it's okay guys, bad people corrupting noble causes is still totally a valid way to write villains.
Bumbleby is still not canon. Yes, they are still calling it a slow burn.
Cinder is still fucking alive, oh god why
Rooster Teeth has officially exhausted their entire supply of bright-eyed creators who aspired to work on RWBY. They finally hit their goal of either firing or expiring the contract of every last one. That'll teach them for having dreams.
The merch now consists of $500 shirts with RQBY sewn in microscopic fibre on the inside of the fabric. The show name was misspelled in the first print run, but enough people complained about it that RT just went "alright, fuck you guys" and didn't bother to change it since.
About half of RT's legacy staff have confirmed to be in some sort of really fucked up scandal. The other half made callout docs and tweets, which caused the fandom to be angry for a week before they went back to sharing fanart as usual.
RT is now currently using a new production pipeline, where every single animator's contract only lasts for a single episode, before they leave and they find new people to animate the next one. They're hoping to further optimise this process next year by making it per scene instead.
There is a new RWBY side anime coming out, animated by prestigious animation studio Cocomelon.
An entire team of four unambiguously queer Hunters were killed onscreen. CRWBY has blamed the first death on a team of rogue, disobedient animators accidentally drawing her kissing a girl and confessing her undying sapphic love for her - she wasn't meant to be seen as a lesbian. The second death was blamed on the fans, the crew saying "this was supposed to be a side character, but you all started liking her and demanding more screentime for her, so fuck you" in the Volume commentary. The third was a monkey Faunus with comically yellow skin, squinted eyes and a long moustache named Mu Fanchu whose Semblance involves him making monkey noises and his weapon is a giant banana - surprisingly, he turned out to be secretly evil. The fourth just died offscreen because she was a fan character who won an OC fan design contest, but they had no time to include her in the show - in fact, the time her death was mentioned was the very first and only time the character was introduced.
Jaune says onscreen "Somehow, Ironwood has returned."
Green Dust is now Fire Dust, which Eddy confirms in a Reddit post - not in r/RWBY, but in an obscure reply in r/fantasygeology. No one found that post until 2 months later and when asked, the reply was "Green fire exists, I can see how you can get them confused".
Ozpin has now reincarnated into Oswald Pint, one of eight new boys currently with RWBY's group and for some reason have more screentime and agency than the girls. Oscar died in Volume 11 Episode 3 in a sickeningly distressing torture scene - that's the episode, the whole episode was the torture scene.

RT releases a RWBY mobile game only available in two postcodes, is not written in English and discontinues it after 3 months due to "stupid fucking fans not engaging with our products". Fans continue to insist that somehow, this must still be either WayForward or SHAFT's fault.
Jaune Vs. Aquaboy is slated to release next year. In fact, Volume 11 stopped in the middle of Episode 4 and will be on hiatus for the next 3 years until the crossover is out.
Speaking of Jaune, he just killed Nora. In fact, he did it just as I was posting this. Oh, he's killed Ruby too. And Clear our genderfluid queen, and Aquaboy as well. Oh god, he's looking this way, help me
The year is 2025, and if one thing hasn't changed, it's that hardcore RWBY stans are still around. When asked about the state of RWBY, they had this to say:

I seriously hope season three never comes out because I can’t deal with another stolas focus episode for like the millionth time like no wonder the views for the series is going down everyone is tired of seeing his face we want imp Vivzepop not your favorite owl oc and his lame ass drama 🙄
There are unfortunately plenty of stolas stans who would happily watch a show that is just about him and his crying entirely. Some are kinda rude to the rest of us for not liking “the heart of the show” or “what it’s really about”
So…The next episode is about him. Then we get two good episodes about other things…then I think another stolas one, and the ending of the season is all stolas focussed again. He’s basically the main character now?

Allegedly Viv said in the finale of season 2 they’re together. They fight in the next episode, B is sent away, sans book? There’s a ghost episode, where blitz is called unloveable, theres a Verosika episode, something called mastermind, then sinsmas. So I’m assuming all the development happens offscreen.
Apparently blitz suddenly noticed he’s being abused and despite all the lack of interest and lack of attraction we’ve seen from him—he yells at Stella, and falls in “love” with him cause he’s being abused and he wants to protect him cause he reminds him of Fizz?? I think.
But going by his leaked behaviour, stolas doesn’t really care about him anymore. Via says stolas chose blitz and he replies “no I didnt” implying he wants to be with his daughter, not him. And his choices weee taken away. But at the same time he completely refuses to stop seeing him and they keep on smiling at and holding onto each other right in front of her.
Octavia freaks out and is against the ship, she cuts stolas off and ? I guess, in some scenes after, accidentally kills Andrealphus and Stella. Stolas says she’s been “the only good thing” in his life, even though before that he acted like Blitz was. He runs and leaves Blitzø in the dust to chase after her, she rejects him, and blitzo walks behind him, gives him a jacket, and hugs his back while stolas cries and holds his anti sads. It’s supposed to be cute fan service but…to me at least, it’s just not.
It’s really sad but not for the reasons I believe Viv thinks? Seeing Blitzos formerly strong independent personality finally shatter as his saviour complex and guilt takes over, he becomes “tied down” to stolas who doesn’t seem to want him anymore, that is what is truly sad. So the judge is called judge vagina ( 🔫 LAUGH) But then more things go wrong for stolas and he loses it all, I’m guessing because he abused the grimoire, he seems to lose his powers, joins imp, and I’m supposed to find it really serious and really sad. She also I think writes fizz and Ozzie to appear, they hate Stella now, and they both help stolitz happen for some reason. The tonal whiplash never ends. Pooooor guy. He’s on anti depressants. Poor guy. He’s really sad. Don’t worry about that random imp he just strangled to near death. He’s reallyyyyyy saaaaaaad. But don’t worry he gets his Blitzø.
