It’s so weird when I think about myself as a cat mom,, that I’m my cats mom. I take care of her, I love her and I make sure she’s safe and occasionally worry about her health and her safety but, I can’t help but feel as though she has a mother of her own somewhere else and I shouldn’t intrude on that or sit in that rightful space. Like you ever see those videos where they tell you things your cat does or will do if they think that you’re their mom, my cat does all of those things, but does she remember her own mom? Where is her mom?

Whenever I watch Bad Batch, I watch it with my mom's cat, Snoopy, (who is currently isolated due to health and safety reasons)-

Anyways, she's a menace to society but she's really cute so I let things slide. She has this habit of,, fuckin biting and scratching me even when I'm doing absolutely nothing, so whenever I'm watching Bad Batch, if she's not having zoomies she's gnawing on me like I'm a bone.

But when I was watching the Juggernaut episode, halfway into the commandeering the vehicle scene I realized there was no little menace attacking me and I couldn't hear her bell zooming around the room.

Then I looked down and saw this:

For the ENTIRE scene of them in the vehicle, she was perfectly still and watching the show.

She only moved to look at me when I took these photos because my phone has a bell charm, but after that she went right back to watching the show.

It was so cute, I love indoctrinating our cats.

No seriously looking back on this year there was no middle ground. It was either the Best most Amazing things or the absolute Kill-Yourself worst. Need a year of even keel normalcy with some everyday types of joy and sorrow in 2024 pls.

#Bad: mom got diagnosed with cancer. violently SA'd in an alleyway. couldnt find a job and ended up workking minimum wage retail #had to go on food stamps. OD'd on a mystery drug. #Good: mom had surgery and is now in remission from cancer. i finished my MA with a perfect score. travelled in Europe for 3 months. #found some cats in the backyard and took them in. got a job at one of the most elite firms in my field completely out of the blue #like... no middle ground #its insane #and like these were all happening concurrently #one after the other #heard my mom was in remission and went out to celebrate and was SA'd on the way home #that kind of concurrent

I do!! Idk what it is about maine coons but one of mine gave birth to 4 kittens (well, 6-7 but a few of them died during birth) and then eventually gave birth to ANOTHER 5 kittens and then she had grandchildren and we also keep getting our friends’ and families’ cats for some reason and now we just have a bunch of cats lying around in every room 😭 they all have their favorite spots but half of them LOVES sleeping in our rooms, and they’ve gotten really good at bolting in whenever we open the door.

Most of them are so affectionate too especially the boys,,, they never scratch or bite out of anger. (But they do love to play and they keep forgetting they have knives in their mouth and paws) …Except for Tofu bc she is mean and she doesn’t get along with the other cats. She’s VERY affectionate with me though, and only me.

I think I’ve figured out why it’s the stuff with my cats that gets me the most viscerally upset when it comes to my roommate and I think I need to tell him why that is… we had a talk and he apologized for a lot of stuff but I just feel like I need to explain why I react so intensely to him hating my cats/wanting me to get rid of them

#like there’s the obvious things I’ve said before that ANY pet owner would feel the same about obvious #but like. okay I love cats. I’ve loved cats my WHOLE life #not just cats but animals in general #animals were baby’s first special interest #and I grew up on a farm and I had usually at least 8 pets at a time growing up #that I got money for by doing odd jobs and you know as a child you can spend all your money on your hobbies #and I love animals so I had pets #specifically I always had at least 3-4 cars #*cats #my mom’s first husband hated cats… fucking DESPISED them #and he talked about hating them/getting rid of them all the time #and. well. when I ever did anything to really piss him off #(which you know as a nine year old could be something as simple as breathing too loudly or some shit) #he would kill them #that man killed probably like 20 cats #cuz even after I was old enough to process ‘don’t get more cats bad things will happen to them’ #my mom would bring home cats cuz she ALSO loved and wanted cats #even when I would beg her not to because I knew they were going to die #she never cared because in that moment she wanted cats #and obviously this was awful and damaging #and now that I live on my own with my two cats who are my BABIES that I love and cherish #my roommate talking about hating them and wanting them gone…. #yeah it’s uh. um. hitting some really specific nerves #obviously I do not think he would EVER EVER do something like that #because you know. he’s not an insane control freak who hates me and animals #it’s still hitting those nerves #and yeah I think I need to tell him that for us to start coming to an understanding #like i get you don’t LOVE my cats you don’t have to #but you can’t talk that way about them… or I’m going to get VERY upset and defensive #kaz rambles

#i woke up at 3 pm bc this was my 1st day ‘off’ in forever #and when i went to grab something to eat our back door was fully open and my car was nowhere to be found #cat* #so i freaked out and started looking outside but when i realized she wasn’t there and my roommate also wasn’t recently outside #i knocked on her bedroom door and she was like ‘oh sorry i was asleep do you want me to help look’ #YES i want you to help look what are you talking about #eventually i found her bc my cat is the best girl in the world and never left our yard- she was in the crawl space under the house #but not only am i pissed she let my car out then took a nap #but we don’t live in the safest city in the world and while we were both sleeping our door was fully 90 degrees open #so now not only do i feel like kevin (cat) isn’t safe here but I don’t feel safe sleeping here anymore #the lease is up in july and i finally get to leave #this girl is a random roommate my former roommate found to replace her #and the whole process/experience has been awful #i just have to survive 4 months #during the summer i might keep paying rent but fully leave and go live with family #bc my school isn’t in driving distance of any of my family #now i’m thinking about asking someone if they’ll take kevin for a couple months bc im so sorry about her #but my dad has a dog that doesn’t love cats and my best friend is allergic and my mom lives in another state #personal #delete later #also this is unrelated BUT every weekend without fail she does laundry at an insane time in the morning #and our washing machine is the loudest washing machine i’ve EVER heard #and of course it’s right against the wall of my room #not hers #i only get two days a week to sleep past 630 am and she almost always ruins it

id forgive steven universe for its crimes if the art style wasnt so boring

#steven universe is a really good kids cartoon in comparison to kids cartoons #but i just find it kind of bland #it feels really uhmmmm #preachy? which is fine but idk it really only gets like that near the end #the episode with steven almost dying in the desert to get his moms tapes or whatever i was like good lord bc it was soooooo preachy #and i lost interest then because its like when you want to preach at me and pretend youre this highly emotionally mature show with this #beautiful mature art style then you better act like it #and even if steven universe WAS highly emotionally mature i wouldnt be into it. thats not the kind of stuff i like #so in general i think it was kind of doomed to fail in my eyes #and i really do atribute it to the art style too #im very into bright colors and cutesy things but i dont know it was almost like. toooo magical girl for my personal taste? #i really like a lot of specific episodes though. the frybo episode and the cat transformation episode both stand out really strong #and those ones were really really good and had some insane art
