nono, they are that's what a saint is

the confusion I think comes from a cultural thing here because when I think of saint I don't go "oh yeah martyrs that died for religion" I think "my bestie Sant Jordi <3 dia del llibre my beloved. my bestie Sant Joan another banger holiday <3 and because of Santa oliva i never had class the 10th of June thanks bestie" and "yeah when it's the day of the saint with my legal name I get money"

and it's because here basically every single day is the day of a saint, and every town and sometimes neighborhoods have their own (patron) saint, etc, so the actual meaning of saint is quite lost on me when talking in general about them (again I put the emphasis on patron and not on saint)

and a patron saint is just. the Thing the saint got prayed to. here mostly it's the saint of your town (not because they were from it but because of a bunch of different reasons). in my town it's Santa Oliva because it's been a town that produces olive oil since forever and people back then prayed to her so their crops would be plentiful (oliva is olive in Catalan btw) and eventually the Pope said yeah we'll give this town Santa Oliva as their patron saint

so,,, yeah don't know if that's clearer

#idk man 99% of our traditions and cultural stuff are religious technically but no one really cares much about that part #like. there's also a bunch of schools that are named after a random saint but they are just like any other school #ALSO PLACES #you can talk to me about sant esteve my first thought will be oh yeah neighboring town second thought will be soup and canelons

i thought mlb was like. a magical girl-ish show. with.. idk a villain of the week format.???. whst the fuck happened (not in a bad way just insanely curious. like HUH)

JBDGJKDRB mlb is kinda like a mix of episodic and serialized. there's always been an overarching plot but the episodes werent strictly serialized. and yeah youre right about being villain of the week, thats pretty much how its structured!! just recently though theyve been picking up the slack on their overarching narrative elements so theres a lot more Plot happening now. it used to be they only left that for like, premieres and mid-season and season finales

its one of those weird shows that try to tread the line and are semi serialized. you can tune in and watch any episode and still get it pretty much, but there's some Special Tidbits here and there that would make you go hmmm if you missed stuff, but not enough for it to be SUPER bothersome. for a while my biggest personal criticism about the show was how they clearly wanted to be ambitious with the story and the expanded universe lore and whatnot but they were also just so afraid to break out of the status quo and literally even made an episode basically mocking the idea lol. they used to be really bad with handling their plot beats and threads but i can say that s5 was an improvement
