Good question, Rand. Why do Crown have Swords in it?

I must inform you all now that the only correct casting for Cadsuane is Cher

like ready to be proven wrong, but I don't think that Cadsuane is necessarily gonna appear any earlier than she did in the books. I think they're just setting her up better than in the books (ie not introducing her as an important player like right before she shows up and expecting us to be impressed by that)

For those who haven’t spent much time in the fandom:
Adored-Lan, Mat, Birgitte, Min
Hated: Elayne, Faile, Cadsuane, Egwene
Varies based on the respondents age: Moiraine

Tam al'Thor vs Cadsuane Sedai was the face-off I never knew I needed. Him calling her a bully was so gratifying.

I think it’s absolutely hilarious that every time Cadsuane is introduced everyone is like “omg she’s the oldest and most powerful living Aes Sedai, a true legend!” and then none of the main characters have any idea at all that she even existed before that

I have exerted an unreasonable amount of energy to determine if Elena Kotab is a book reference or not, and I have managed to determine that she is not.
As near as I can tell Cadsuane's most important pre-series relationships that we are aware of are Myriam Copan and Sereille Bagand, both of whom come up in Egwene's Amyrlin Crash Course.
I find the idea that Cadsuane apparently had a lover/best friend so important to her that Elayne recalls their relationship as a defining part of Cadsaune's legend DEEPLY interesting. Elayne is a White Tower Fangirl so obviously she's a bit more familiar with these things, and she might be exaggerating a bit, but if she isn't.....My brain ITCHES to fill in the blank here, and to uncover new Cadsuane dimensions/lore.

Mean old ladies tournament
it is only a tournament in my dreams
Propaganda:
Cadsuane Melaidhrin: She's like 300 years old and one of the most powerful living Aes Sedai. She keeps letting people think she's finally died and then appearing like a jumpscare to bully people into submission. Incredible accessories game. Assaulted the wizard pope and got away with it. Regularly insults the most powerful and unstable boy alive.
Olenna Tyrell: Queen of Thorns. Approximately the size of a hobbit and everyone's scared of her. Tells people she broke off the engagement with that Targaryen. Insults all her children. Calls her guards "Left" and "Right" bc she's too old to bother with names. Keeps complaining about "The Rains of Castamere." To the Lannisters. Straight up killed a kid so he wouldn't abuse her granddaughter.

Hot take: I like Cadsuane as a character.

I am curious how they're gonna handle Cads in the show. Cause like it would track if they gave her more nuance like they've been doing with the other AS in the show but at the same time if show Cadsuane isn't abusive then she's not really Cadsuane to me
And I feel like her actually being abusive towards Rand is important to highlight how much she isn't Moiraine
And with them making Rand and Moiraine's relationship arguably more positive than in the books that will stick out a lot more

I sometimes get the impression that Cadsuane is on the verge of acknowledging Rand’s trauma and actually doing something other than telling him to suck it up. She knows what the sisters who kidnapped him did to him and how much it affected him, and sees how he is pushing everyone away, rejecting emotion, turning inwards more and more. She claims he needs to learn how to laugh and cry again, which I interpreted as helping him rediscover his humanity before he completely loses himself, reminding him that the Dragon Reborn is also a person, not just a weapon to be pointed at the Dark One.
But then, what does she do? She provokes him, humiliates him, treats him like an unruly child and then punishes him for lashing out at this arrogant bully of a woman who can’t see past her own nose. I don’t know if her status as a “legend” is to blame (she bullies and browbeats everyone around her) or the fact that she’s from Far Madding where men are second class citizens, but for a wise Aes Sedai legend with Rand’s best interests at heart, she sure doesn’t act like it!
When he does decide to trust her, it’s not because of anything she’s personally done to earn that trust, but because Min’s viewing told him he had to put up with her.

So I had this crazy fucking dream the Rosamund Pike refused to come back as Moiraine for WoT so they cast Maggie fucking Smith as Moiraine... Honestly I think she'd make a better Cadsuane but okay dream...

the thing about Cadsuane Sedai is she is such that, when given the choice between her and Rand Al’Thor, I will out-stubborn them both just to be against her
