The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legends fade to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

It hasn’t really ever occurred to me before how literal this quote kind of is. The series of course takes place in Third Age, and other events of the Third Age are memory - imperfect, distorted, with lots of lost detail, but mostly accurate. The Age before is the Age of Legends - everyone is heightened, twisted into awesome figures or primordial monsters, but a lot of the basic facts remain mostly true, recorded in ancient times. Then you get to the First Age, our Age. By the time of the books, things are totally distorted, the nuclear standoff between Russia and the US transformed into giants throwing spears of fire at each other, rocket ships transformed into fire eagles, centuries collapsed into nothing. It is fully the realm of mythology.

At the C2E2 Brandon Sanderson panel. He had a few things to say re WoT show. He mentions that he tried with Perrin in the show and that Rafe and co were willing to go with his idea to have Perrin injure Master Luhhan but the Amazon execs shot it down. Brandon basically says not to get mad at the writers and that the show has really good writers and are trying their best and that a lot of factors are at play (strongly hinting that the higher up execs are the problem)

Since the first two seasons of The Wheel of Time made Liandrin a complex and popular character, Dain likeable and Masema hot, I fully expect that Season 3 is going to turn Gawyn and Elaida into fan favourites.

#oh i guarantee this will happen #i hate elaida for multiple reasons #but i definitely think she'll be interesting to watch #as for gawyn i think the show has the potential to make him an even more tragic character #wot book spoilers

Speaking of Beidomon it says he committed suicide at some point during the Collapse because it was widely known what he did in drilling the Bore, which I would assume follows people know that Mierin did it too. So it seems like we always say she joined the Shadow because she was scorned by Lews but that was really probably the only option for survival she had. Declaring it publicly in the Hall IS a flex tho
