FELLAS ITS C!TOMMY BUTTERFLY PROPOGANDA TIME

after the most recent prison lore butterfly tommy is now solidified in my head. if i stop using it after this then i never said this. ANYWAY

time for limbo hcs:

- injuries in limbo basically just bleed always. any color except red and theyre always bleedin and flowing and the longer you’re in limbo, the bigger they get because they cant heal in limbo its like a stuck in time kinda thing

- i am stealing the frankenstein zombie skin shit whatever for my cwilbur and ctommy. upon revival, the victims injuries (all of them, so even ones that were just scars are open again in limbo but if it was completely healed over like a paper cut, you dont have that), are covered in patches of of this itchy type skin its usually green but it can also be this pastel purple or yellow and depending on how long you were in limbo, thats how big the patch will be because, like i said, the open wounds are just sitting in limbo and they cant heal so only get bigger. my c!wilbur has a huge blob of the stitched skin stuff on his chest and more under his hair and c!tommys heart has a patch (but its kinda small but it was already a healed scar) and he has remnants of getting beat to death in the prison (big ass patch that covers the underside of his hair and also a little bit of his face/forehead). he has a pretty medium sized one on his neck and some on his chest, and then other scars from exile and doomsday, etc etc also have tiny patches

- 1 white streak of hair represents 1 revival

- stitched/zombie skin whatever its called is very itchy to the victim, constantly scratching and revival victims usually face a great deal of sensory issues in general especially depending on how long they were in limbo 

- too long in limbo (dont know how long this would be just depends on the person i guess) just makes the victim a literal zombie but not the brain eating guy just like. a shell of their former self. 

- for c!jack the most i know about him reviving himself is that he crawled out of hell but my thought for him was different revival methods = different long lasting effects so he wouldnt have the same scars and issues that c!tommy and c!wilbur have

hello i come bearing more c!primeboys butterflyinnit au c!dream loves to study butterflies because he finds them really cool and fascinating yk bugs n stuff. he had a fixation on them since before c!tommy joined the server and once tommy joined, it was like a combination of holy shit ive never seen a hybrid before time 2 study. science experiment and regular ol’ c!dream “tOmMy iS fUn tO mEsS with”

when tommy finds his weird ass butterfly comfort room theres like dead ones but also alive ones in jars n shit and its a big What The Fuck is going on moment (and he sets them free ofc)

AND IF I WANT TO MAKE IT EVEN WORSE PHIL FOUND SOME BOOKS AT THE LIBRARY WHEN HE WAS TRYING TO FIND STUFF OUT ABOUT TOMMY THAT DREAM WROTE AND HE USED THEM AT THE TIME CAUSE THEY DIDNT KNOW WHO HE WAS OBV and it was quite a surprise when wilbur brought those same books and found out dream wrote them haha….

idk if there would be more butterfly hybrids besides tommy i imagine theyd probably just be super rare so thats why phil knows like nothing and techno n wilbur had never seen one before and neither did anyone on the server yet (i think phil WOULD have seen some but he just never really asked or wanted to seek out anything about them before he found tommy and then tommy got them wings

dunno if i ever said but changed of plans: instead of getting ruined in exile, c!tommy’s wings only face some minor tears that are fixed up by dream (although he did get a few rips walking from logsted to the god damn arctic and techno couldnt fix them cause he did not know how), but his wings arent ruined until doomsday where the explosions rip them to shreds and he’s left with little tears on his back up until he dies in the prison where his wings come back as the vein and membrane (like originally planned).

tommys wings getting ruined by the explosions in doomsday was dreams final straw for justifying keeping tommy in the prison to 1. experiments 2. keep him safe since it’d been a while since he had a live butterfly hybrid subject

alright its more butterfly c!tommy time (/dsmp /rp)

thinking about when he was getting boated off to exile, it was raining right question mark

SO tommy still had his wings at the time but he couldnt escape even if he wanted to because his wings were soaking wet. he was miserable just sitting in a boat in the rain cause he hates rain and it makes him feel really weird and slimy and since they are literally in the ocean its like. aw fuck i could stay in the boat and be wet but not as wet or i could jump in the ocean and be wet its like a lose lose situation

when hes in exile it rains a lot anyway so he cant do much. his wings are kinda just dead weight because he can never really use them and the muscles on his back ache because theyre just sitting there, dragging in the dirt and when dream offers to “help” him manage them, he accepts just because like. what else is he gonna do? theyll be ruined regardless but maybe dream has some ideas!- NOPE wings gone

when dream reprimands him for not being grateful for his help tommy gives up fighting on it and now hes doing his thing but his balance was off for a few days and his back still aches but its not really there anymore, knowing theyre gone and still feeling the phantom pain and sometimes when its dry and not raining tommy will get super excited cause that like barely happens!- but nop, he is a grounded boyo.

after doomsday when tubbo and tommy are hanging out tubbos like OH SHIT i have an idea!! and he pulls out the fake little wings thing i dunno what their called but the elastic thingies but yeah tubbo pulls them out and tommys like Hoooooolyk shitjZ hes on the verge of tears and tubbos like OH IM SORRY IS IT TOO SOON and tommy gets rid of his tears and hes like NO stfu and he takes the wings and tubbos like ???

tommy only wears them in snowchester or when hes with tubbo and otherwise theyre in his ender chest

after his revival he cuts the elastics off and sews them to the back of his cardigan and tubbo never asks about it

ok now for some backstory (/rp /dsmp)

c!tommy wasn’t born with his wings, he was born with the antenna ears though

when he was around 1-3 (i havent decided sh) instead of like wings sprouting from his back he does his lil chrysalis/cocoon thinga and he spends about 1-2 weeks in there and then he gets out and BOOM hes got wings but well not really he cant use them until hes about 6-7 cause they are small n fragile

not sure if he grew up with sbi yet but if he did i imagine c!techno would be reading the art of war to him or any book to him constantly (but to like a green lump…) tommy was the only one to listen to him read (BECAUSE HE WAS A LUMP FOR 2 WEEKS BUT OK TECHNO) and when tommy gets out techno decides ok well he probably didnt hear me right. and he reads the same books and tommy starts mouthing the words to himself as techno reads and techno is like HEH??? HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU CANT EVEN READ YET and tommys like i dunno i think you read it to me in a dream like how coma patients hear the people talking or whatever sometimes yeah

phil was very happy to see tommy with wings but he wasnt very Up To Date on the lore of butterfly hybrids so he pulled a ton of books from the library to see what he could learn but ive always liked the idea that phil and techno left when tommy was around 6-7 so phil doesnt get to finish his research by the time tommy is old enough to fly and with wilbur n tubbo, they do a lot of trial and error… BUT HE LEARNS EVENTUALLY!!! hes no where near as good as phil though especially cause phils a goddamn bird and hes not

when phil and techno leave i think wilbur would pick up where phil left off and continue learning about tommy and share random shit with him and tommys like Ok Yes and tubbo starts living with them when tommy is around 5 before phil and techno leave but like right about and tubbo is like 6 and hes like HOooly shit are those chickene wings. Wilbur gimme wings and tubbo had already been growing horns at this point and he was very obviously a deer/goat and wilburs like. tubbo pls and tubbo is very sad and mad until wilbur gives him the lil butterfly backpack thing thats what ill call it and wilbur makes sure to remind him that YOU CANNOT FLY PLEASE DONT TRY. and tubbos like ok and he and tommy go frolicking in the forest wit their wings cause fuck it

ALRIGHTY THE BUTTERFLY C!TOMMY TIMELINE HAS BEEN SORTED (I THINK?? ITS A WORK IN PROGRESS ig)

anyway so tommy was abandoned by his parents at 2 years old. im thinking both of his parents were butterfly hybrids too, and they weren’t sure about raising a son because of how rare butterflies were, and if tommy got into the wrong hands... well... they basically assumed the worst. so, after traveling for a while away from nearby servers, they found the SBIs middle-of-nowhere hybrid house and they left him at phil’s doorstep!! A+ parenting you guys, great job. dont have another kid jfc 

ok so phil opens the door and theres a child... sitting there... MENACINGLY. anyway phil adopts him when tommy is still 2 and assumes hes a human (by this point, tommy shows absolutely no hybrid traits except for faint freckles and abnormally small ears, as well as an abnormally large tongue. obviously his parents DID know he was a butterfly, but phil wouldnt have known) so tommy lives as a human for a bit, with a tendency to run outside in the middle of the night and get lost looking for flowers. phil decided this was normal behaviour. afterall, techno was a piglin and wilbur was literally the angel of deaths son and DEATH itself’s son, so... 

THIS all changed when tommy turned 4! a few weeks after his birthday, he basically went into sort of like a hybernation pretty much. technoblade recognized some of the signs, and he was still alive so they just kept an eye on him. over the course of 3 days, tommy began forming the lil chysalis thing (I DONT KNOW HOW THEY form i just know the caterpillar curls up just use your imagination its magic.) once hes in the chysalis, he’s in there for about 2 1/2-3 weeks and then he BREAKS out and BOOM. BUTTERFLY. its undeniable at that point, since theres a four year old walking like a newborn deer in his living room with gigantic wings on his back, that tommy is a human. this is when phil begins searching for his research.

tubbo is adopted when tommy is 6 (and he is 7), the ol’ box on the side of the road thing you know

when tommy is around 6 and a half, thats when technos voices start getting antsy from staying in once spot for so long. he really wants to get out and travel but phil doesnt want him to go alone, and by this point he’d barely found out anything about tommy. phil speedruns his research and settles on tommy being a blue morpho and hands it off to wilbur pretty much before he and techno leave for other servers around 2 months after tommys half birthday. (btw tommy is not a blue morpho but he definitely looks like it, his bio parents were two different types of butterflies) 

phil never had time to finish looking for how to properly take care of tommy (somewhere between tommy getting his wings and he and techno leaving, phil meets dream but thatll be another post) and so phil basically decided on using an avians way of life before he left since he was looking after and making sure techno was ok. he and tommys wings were wildly different of course, but there wasnt much else he could do. he didnt want to try guessing and fuck something up but he inadvertantly fucked things up anyway when he decided to have tommy live like a bird pretty much.

anyway moving on, wilbur leaves their childhood home when tommy and tubbo are 12 and 13. he moves on to explore other servers, much like techno and phil had, and supposes tommy and tubbo will be ok on their own.

tommy eventually leaves about 3-4 months after, saying bye to tubbo (and probably joining smp earth idk much about it but i want to include it if it doesnt work i might scrap it)

tommy joins the Dream SMP when he’s 13, and tubbo joins about a month or so later. wilbur ends up joining later too, cue dsmp plot (well not really i have more details but this is the basic timeline leading up to canon)

AND yeah This is the timelineTM hopefully maybe idk i seem to get a lot of butterflyinnit stuff done during school and tomorrows monday if i change anything then blame me being bored in class

tommy was a literal magnet for insects and it was terrible because he would track them into the house and they stuck to him like glue and he named all of them clementine 

when asked if “shouldnt you put them in like a cage so they dont run away if you like them so much??” and tommys like wtf. are u insane. they always come back you dumbfuck gosh

this fact repeated in exile, including a special moth which he dubbed clementine along with everyone else, but this time, dream was not so happy with it as his family was... haha... there’s a lotta bug guts burried in the grass around tommys tent, you know? tommy remembers to shoo them off anytime they come near while hes chopping trees after that, but he can never shake off how much he misses them buzzing around his face while he slept or them flapping their wings next to his ears if he was hot. dream wasnt a fan... so tommy wasnt either.

when phil and dream met and phil told dream he had a butterfly son dream was heckin ecstatic cause itd been so long since he’d been able to study one up close. he’d only ever had one subject thus far and most of his more specific books were about that particular type but no one really knew how many different kinds there were and how different they looked, etc. dream hadnt been able to find anyone else “willing” to participate in his “experiments” so if he could get his hands on phils son or at least study him from afar, well…

his plan didn’t really work out though cause dream could never quite find out where phil lived. he couldve followed him home but phil definitely would’ve noticed him and stalking philza fucking minecraft was asking for death

he eventually gave up hope and continued doing whatever else he had, his fixation hadnt died down at all in the past years, infact he was so absorbed by it that he eventually made a whole server for himself where he could hide his research instead of a small, rickety old shack he called a library.

he DID end up inviting his friends, however, and soon more and more people were being brought in and he ended up keeping his things in a more secretive place, but at the end of the day when he had finished racing with sapnap and making fun of george, he was always back to his “lab”.

tommy’s arrival only inspired him even more because dream had never seen wings as big as tommys. he wanted to get on tommys good side for the most part to ask questions, but eventually it was genuine fondness for the boy that sparked his want to continue studying live subjects again after so many years.

tommy had told dream all he knew about himself just because the man asked, but dream definitely clocked details that were wrong. for one, tommy didnt even know his own type. he couldnt recognize that he was a hybrid of two different species, but that wasnt necessarily a problem.

no, dreams biggest problem was how tommy was being raised like an avian

and that was definitely gonna change…
