my dysphoria has been very bad recently and i have found it very difficult to do things like showering, changing and sleeping especially. ive been over wearing my binder a lot because i find it very difficult to bring myself to take it off, and i keep wearing it for 30+ hours at a time which i know is bad but i currently have no other alternative and not wearing one feels worse than the pain i get by overwearing. i hate wearing sports bras and ive run out of transtape, i have ordered more but it probably won’t be coming for another couple of weeks. i don’t know what to do because i don’t want to damage my body severely, is there anything else i can do?
Lee says:
As you know, wearing a binder for extended periods can lead to severe health issues, including respiratory problems, rib fractures, and skin conditions.
When you feel like doing something that's harming you physically is your only option to cope because your dysphoria is that intense, you should look into getting a therapist.
Frequently binding for 30+ hours isn't a sustainable option and finding alternative coping strategies will be easier with professional help to help you deal with what you're doing through.
Two posts that might help with your specific questions are Staying clean and coping with shower-related dysphoria and Dysphoria when you have to sleep and those two posts really cover most of what I have to say on those subjects so I won't reinvent the wheel by typing the same thing but I encourage you to read both links.
Apart from that, in the next couple of weeks as you wait for your TransTape to arrive (And start the process of seeking a therapist!) here are some strategies you can try doing:
1. Layered Clothing:
Wearing loose, layered clothing can help obscure the chest area. Consider wearing baggy shirts, jackets, or vests to help reduce the visibility of your chest.
Luckily it's fall time (at least here in the East Coast) so it's starting to get a little bit cooler, some days, and I wear a sweater (at work) or sweatshirt (when at home) like 100% of the time just because I'm always cold and it's also an Autistic sensory friendly thing for me too.
See more: Body neutrality
2. Distraction Techniques:
Engage in activities that take your mind off your dysphoria. This could be reading, drawing, journaling, listening to music, watching movies or TV, or any other hobby or activity that you enjoy and find absorbing.
Engage in self-care activities that actually make you feel good about yourself, not just doomscrolling social media. And for those times when you are on social media, if you're currently following anyone who makes you stressed/unhappy, stop following them. It's your feed and you're in charge!
But if you find that it's hard to do the necessary activities of everyday living because you find yourself spending most of your time engaging in distraction techniques, and you're falling behind on homework/work, that's another sign that you need additional support from a mental health professional.
3. Grounding Techniques:
Practicing mindfulness can help you stay present and reduce distressing thoughts, but the kind of nebulous meditation stuff never worked well for my ADHD brain.
Guided meditation
15 meditation tips
How to do progressive muscle relaxation
Body scan relaxation exercise
Mindfulness skills and worksheets masterpost
Imagery

Relaxation

Safe-place visualization
I found specific things like grounding exercises, like the "5-4-3-2-1" technique (identifying five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell, and one you can taste), can help divert your attention from dysphoric feelings if you're having a Moment. This type of strategy is useful when you start to notice yourself spiraling to try and re-center yourself.

4. Stay connected:
Connect with in-person and/or online LGBTQ+ support groups who understand what you're going through. Sharing your feelings and hearing from others who have similar experiences can be comforting and it can help you to learn new coping strategies and things to try.
In general, avoiding isolation is important. Join a club or volunteer for something, join a sports team, hang out with your friends, etc. Just don't stay alone in your room. Get out of the house if you can, or invite people over or have video calls or phone calls if aren't up to being out and about. Just stay in contact with people.

5. Set Alarms:
Consider setting alarms or reminders to take off your binder and give your body a break. Even short breaks can help reduce the risk of injury.
Here are some links that may help in general:

Dysphoria that prevents you from leaving the house/doing activities of daily living
Your feelings are valid, and it's essential to find ways to manage your dysphoria that prioritize your health and well-being. There isn't a secret dysphoria cure I can share with you, to be frank it just sucks sometimes and there's not a lot to do about it but you gotta find a way to cope and keep going and stay safe.
Eventually it gets better-- you either find a way to cope more effectively and manage the dysphoria and/or time just passes and you grow older and eventually find a way to access surgery, but either way you will eventually become an adult who is managing life somehow and overall doin' okay and yeah there's hope at the end of the tunnel so please keep going!
You deserve care, support, and understanding, even if your family isn't able to provide that right now. And again, apart from the two links that I started the response with, the main advice I have is that you should ask to speak with a therapist (even if you are closeted and don't tell your fam that it's gender/binding/dysphoria related) and just let them know that you're struggling with your mental health in general.
Please reach out for help if you need it, and consider seeking medical attention if you experience severe pain or discomfort from binding. Good luck!!
As some of you may have noticed, our blog has been around for a decade or so and some links may be broken because we're all busy etc so pls let me know if something is wonky in a post I'm trying to link to!
Followers, any advice for anon?

Assigning Every Fall Out Boy Song to The Life Series
because i'm a normal person with normal person feelings about fall out boy's discography and the life series. trust me.
“every” is a strong word here because fall out boy's discography is Literally Like 150+ Songs so i’m only doing the songs off their main 8 albums in this post. if enough people ask (which i seriously doubt will happen), i’ll do the eps+remixes as well.
sorry if there is an overabundance of certain characters/a lack of certain characters. i tried to include people are frequently as possible but a: i am inherently biased (though some of my faves are pretty underrepresented), b: not everyone has the same amount of content to draw from because they haven't all been in every season and c: some of these guys are simply not fall out boy characters to me. it's just how it is.
so, under the cut will be, in release order, every fall out boy song assigned to a life series character/event+the lyric that i think best represents why i assigned it.

I got too high again, realized I can't not be with you/Or be just your friend, I love you to death, but I just can't/I just can't pretend, we weren't lovers first/Confidants but never friends, were we ever friends?/But when your stitch comes loose, I wanna sleep on/Every piece of fuzz and stuffing that comes out of you/You, I took too many hits off this memory/I need to come down/An-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-nother day goes by/So hold me tight, hold me tight, or don't/Oh n-n-no, no, this isn't how our story ends
Wilson (Expensive Mistakes): LL!Bdubs
There's nothing more cruel than to be loved by everybody but you (but you)/Than to be loved by everybody but you, (but you) but you/If I could get my shit together/I'm gonna run away and never see any of you again/Never see any of you again/I hope the roof flies off and we get blown out into space/I-I always make such expensive mistakes
Church: SL!Lizzie
I love the world/But I just don't love the way it makes me feel/Got a few more fake friends/And it's getting hard to know what's real/And if death is the last appointment/Then we're all just sitting in the waiting room (Mr. Stump?)/I am just a human trying to avoid my certain doom
Heaven’s Gate: LimL!Skizz (right at the end)
I got dreams of my own, but I want to make yours come true/So please come through, honey please, please come through/Oh, go out in the world, start over again and again/As many times as you can
Champion: SL!Pearl
I got rage every day, on the inside/The only thing I do is sit around and kill the time/I'm trying to blow out the pilot light/I'm trying to blow out the light/I'm just young enough to still believe, still believe/But young enough not to know what to believe in/Young enough not to know what to believe/If I can live through this, if I can live through this/If I can live through this, I can do anything
Sunshine Riptide: LL!Scott
The world tried to burn all the mercy outta me/But you know I wouldn't let it/It tried to teach me the hard way, I can't forget it
Young And Menace: LimL!Martyn
We've gone way too fast for way too long/And we were never supposed to make it half this far/And I lived so much life, lived so much life/I think that God is gonna have to kill me twice
Bishops Knife Trick: Bad Boys
I got a feeling inside that I can't domesticate/It doesn't wanna live in a cage, a feeling that I can't housebreak/And I'm yours 'til the earth starts to crumble and the heavens roll/Away, I'm struggling to exist with you and without you, yeah
SO MUCH (FOR) STARDUST
Love From The Other Side: SL!Etho
I'd never go, I just want to be invited, oh, got to give up/Get the feeling, get the feeling, don't fight it, fight it/Sending my love from the other side of the apocalypse/And I just about snapped, don't look back/Every lover's got a little dagger in their hand
Heartbreak Feels So Good: 3L!Grian
Is there a word for bad miracle?/Nobody said the road was endless/Nobody said the climb was friendless/But could we please pretend this won't end?
Hold Me Like A Grudge: DL!Pearl
(You put the "fun" into dysfunction)/Hold me, hold me like a grudge/The world is always spinning, and I can't keep up, woah/Faster and faster, can't do it on my own/Part-time soulmate, full-time problem, yeah/So hold me like a grudge
Fake Out: SL!Lizzie
But I didn't take the love when I had the chance/But I swear I'm not sad anymore/So make no plans and none can be broken/No plans and none can be broken/Do you laugh about me whenever I leave?/Or do I still need more therapy?
Heaven, Iowa: 3L!Scar
And they don't know how much they’ll miss/At least until you're gone like this/Talking to the mirror, say, "Save your breath/Half your life you've been hooked on death"
So Good Right Now: DL!Bdubs
And I know, I know I've made mistakes, yeah/And I know, I know, but at least they were mine to make/They were mine to make/And all of our wildest dreams, they just end up with a-you and me/So, let's drive until the engine just gives out
The Pink Seashell: Ok, I cannot pull a lyric for this because it is the world’s most specific monologue, but the general message of it (“Life is a lottery and bad shit happens all the time, so might as well find happiness in the good things, even the small things.”) feels like it could be Skizz. Just trust me. This one is so fucking difficult.
I Am My Own Muse: LimL!Jimmy
Here I am, not sure you should take a chance/I like playin' dumb, lettin' you figure me out/But I was faded, in my own defense/So, drop a bomb on all the things we dreamed about
Flu Game: SL!Joel
Last night I dreamt I still knew you/You/I carved out a place in this world for two/But it's empty without you/I got all this love I've got to keep to myself/All this effort to make it look effortless
Baby Annihilation: Scott
The first time I took the mask off, just had another one on underneath
The Kintsugi Kid (Ten Years): LimL+ SL!Martyn (but mostly LimL)
Passed my old street, the house I grew up in/It breaks your heart, but four of the Ramones are dead/I felt you at the beginning, but needed you at the end/We're goin' low, low, low, low
What A Time To Be Alive: SL!Bigb
When, when, when I said, "Leave me alone", this isn't quite what I meant/I got the quarantine blues, bad news, what's left?/So, it seems the vulture's gettin' too full to fly, oh/What a time to be alive
So Much (For) Stardust: Ren
I'm in a winter mood, dreamin' of spring now/Burnin' myself down, burnin' myself down, burnin'/I feel like something that's been stretched out over and over again/Until I'm creased, and I'm about to break down the middle/Split me right down the middle, right, right down the middle, yeah

So something I noticed making this, they stop making long titles after album 4 :(
Which is a real fucking shame because nothing screams emo pop punk like super rambly song titles.

As the tour has turned out to be a rollercoaster of emotions and nostalgia, I decided to concentrate in a small masterpost each of the surprise songs played by the guys throughout the whole tour. It will be constantly updated and is not free of errors, if you notice any mistake in the dates or the position of the songs, feel free to comment and I will fix it. By now the source is the people who had contributed to the setlist.fm website, so I will try to look for more reliable sources with links to their respective creators (and also videos if it's possible) Thanks for reading, and happy tourdust to all. 🖤✨

That was sweet. Now back to the much more dismal present.
Tumblr media
We're back to the burning question: Stabilized homunculus who's cracked the secret of curing ferals? Ghost coming to comfort Yakou in his low comprehension? Or the hallucination of a memory Yakou will never let go of?
Tumblr media
That's a heartening thing to say. Did you crack the secret of stabilizing the defective homunculi?
Tumblr media
There is a cure. We're probably going to use up the entire sample on Yakou as a bittersweet moment, like her greatest research was to give him a second chance at life.
But even if that's the case, the fact that she managed to do it means it can be done. Much like Real Yuma's ramen shop, it shows the value of crowdsourcing the homunculi's problems outside of just Makoto.
If stabilizing homunculi is possible, then even if Yakou uses the entire sample, it means someone else might crack this code again. It's proof-of-concept that the code can be cracked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am so happy right now. We can cure Yakou. We can cure the Theater Girls. We can cure Shachi. And the Priest. We can shove Huesca in a pit. We can cure Tetra's dad!
I mean, after it's reinvented, of course. I'm sure there's only going to be enough in that thing for Yakou.
Tumblr media
Yep. One pill. Which is just kicking the can down the road; Yakou will be fine until his next death and then he's right back in this situation.
But it's proof of concept. First thing he should do as soon as he regains his mental faculties is go straight to Makoto and tell him it can be done. We need to restart homunculus research, and pore over his wife's notes extensively. Maybe take samples of Yakou's blood for testing.
Tumblr media
T_T This is such a sweet conclusion, both for Yakou's journey and for the story as a whole.
Tumblr media
And there she goes confusing me again. I do not know what you mean by that. Is she saying to go dig up her corpse if he can't un-feral?
It's not like he can die and join her in the afterlife. She's already got a Yakou with her in the afterlife. This one's trapped here forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All the same, this is such a great ending. Emotionally powerful and satisfyingly interesting all at once.
Tumblr media
"Hard man seeks revenge because his woman was fridged" is a character archetype I generally loathe. But it works so well for Yakou. Partly because it's not what solely defines his character; There are plenty of other facets to him as well. Like most of Kodaka's characters, he's a complicated guy.
But also because of the leg-work that this DLC did to make his wife out as more than just a nice lady who died so we can be mad about it. I've seen more than a few attempts at trying to convince the audience to be emotionally invested in the dead spouse but this is the first one that's ever worked for me.
I think it's because most of the time, the dead wife winds up characterized like this saintly figure who was perfect and demure and wifely in all the "right ways", such that she never feels like her own character and comes off more like the emotional crowbar that she is. But Kodaka sat down at his computer and just hammered out a concise tale about two people who enjoy each other's company and find they have some shared interests.
With characters like these, it often winds up feeling like they were just spinning their wheels living Insert Idyllic Life and waiting for the story to start. Things won't get interesting until she dies. Sorry, but her life is the price of admission for this cool story, I guess.
But with Yakou and his wife, it's like. No. No, this was the story. A whirlwind romance besieged by assassins and gene research, that was the story of their life. The Yakou we meet when we step off that train is a broken man because, for him, the story catastrophically ended. For him, there is nothing left to tell.
...if only she had a fucking name. Come on, Kodaka! Really!? I'm shilling this love story you wrote so hard and it's between Yakou and... Amaterasu Researcher. God fucking dammit, even when you're on the ball, I want to shake you violently for the choices you make.

Huntsman Branwen
Jaune: Sir, come quick! There's a murderer on the loose!
Tyrian: (Gunning down innocent people)
Jaune: Please, do something!
Qrow: You got nothing to worry about, kid. Huntsman Branwen is on the case.
Jaune: ...Okay?
Qrow: Good afternoon, sir. You, uh, have a second?
Tyrian: (Still shooting) Sure, what's up?
Qrow: Well, sir, and pardon me for the intrusion, but I couldn't help but notice you're, uh, kinda firing randomly into this highly populated part of town.
Tyrian: (Still shooting) Mhm.
Qrow: See, I don't like to start my chit-chat's with the hard questions, but considering the circumstances, can I ask if that might have to do with the multiple dead laying around.
Tyrian: (Still shooting) I really don't have time for baseless accusations, huntsman.
Jaune: What are you-?!
Qrow: See, that's fair. Believe me, I fully understand your frustration. But I just can't shake the feeling there's something going on here. Would you mind answering a few more questions? I promise, it won't take more than a few seconds.
Tyrian: (Still shooting) Yeah, sure.
Jaune: He's got a gun! He's actively shooting peop- HOLY SHIT!
Qrow: All circumstantial, kid.
Jaune: Wh-?
Qrow: Trust me. I'll get a confession out of him yet.
Jaune: What?!
Qrow: Now, Mister... Ah, now this is so embarrassing. I'm real sorry but I don't remember catching your name. Mind reminding me?
Tyrian: (Still shooting) Salem.
Qrow: Ah, yeah, that's it! Mr. Salem! Now what brings you out on this beautiful day?
Tyrian: (Still shooting) Oh, you know, just out executing the will of our goddess upon the unworthy. Not really trying to reinvent the wheel here. Oh, hang on! (Fires) Almost got ya, ya slippery bastard.
Jaune: DO SOMETHING!
Qrow: Kid, what does it look like I'm doing?
Jaune: Like you're interviewing an active shooter!
Qrow: Your knowledge of the justice system scares me, kid.
Jaune: WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!
Qrow: Y'know, I'm not stickler for fashion- just ask my husband, I've been wearing the same coat for forty-eight years now- but I gotta ask; what's with the tattoo?
Tyrian: (Still shooting) Oh, I'm so glad you asked! See, the tattoo represents-
Jaune: WHO CARES ABOUT THE TATTOO?! HE'S STILL GOING!
Qrow: Kid, I'm gonna need ya to calm down. I'm so sorry about my friend here. He gets nervous during active shootings.
Tyrian: (Still shooting) No, no! It's cool! Hey, mental health comes first.
Jaune: BRANWEN!
Tyrian: (Still shooting) Listen, I'd love to stay and chat, but I do kinda need to get going. Kinda gotta go blow my brains out in that McSchnees before the pigs catch me.
Qrow: Totally understandable, sir. You have a nice day. Oh, uh, before you go, I do have one more question. See, there's this one little detail that just keeps bothering me, so maybe you could help. See, I might be a huntsman, but I've seen my fair share of homicides.
Jaune: Nobody is surprised by that.
Qrow: So when I see a body with a bullet in their noggin, I have reason to believe a gun might be at play. I also recognize by the bullet casing scattered across the street tell me that either somebody is dropping rounds all willy nilly, which believe me, is rare, or they belong to a twin-barrel gunpowder hand-cannon with an eight-inch barrel... which just so happens to be in your hands.
Tyrian: (Stops shooting) ...What are you getting at, Huntsman?
Qrow: Honestly, I'm not too sure myself, but I see all this, and trust me, it does no good on my conscience to suspect an innocent man, so answer me this one question. If there's a plethora of dead men, women, and children, all shot dead with bullets I bet I could trace to your guns with your hands on the triggers after witnessing you shooting said deceased with my own eyes... Then how come your coat is inside out?
Jaune: Everything up to this point has been meaningless.
Qrow: Now, if you'll excuse me. I'll be coming back with a warrant.
Jaune: BRANWEN, YOU FUCKING IDIOT- (Shot dead)
Qrow: Hm... I think I just about cracked this- (Shot dead)

Hi, Jinxy! Thank you so much for your wonderful conversions! Please, can you tell, which tutorials you've used to learn? I would love to make conversions too, but some parts of creating process are quite confusing (like getting GUIDs for example). Any advices would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Hello, anon! I'm happy to offer up the tutorials I used to figure out (as much as I have, anyway...) this whole conversion and object creation thing.
@keoni-chan has a really well written tutorial on converting objects (with pictures!) available on her Livejournal here. For the most part, her instructions are what I do, we just have a few differences in settings. For instance, in blender, you don't need to check "Write Normals" and "Write Materials," because they just create unnecessary files for you to delete and if you're new to things, the fewer files you have floating around to confuse you, the better.
The other main difference would be that there is no longer a database for GUIDs in Sims 2 (as so many tutorials point you to). To create a unique GUID for an object, in SimPe, go to Tools > Object Creation > Hash Generator and make sure the little dot beneath the "string" box is on CRC 24. At the bottom of the box is a field marked "Hash Value." So long as you've given your object a thoroughly unique name, it will create a random GUID derived from that name that you can use. It's super easy to do. The picture below shows each of the necessary elements.
Tumblr media
If the object you're creating requires multiple GUIDs (like a dining table or bed or the hutch I'm converting right now, for instance), I just use what would be immediately around the GUID SimPE generated for me. For example, if the GUID the program generated is 0x0075768B, I'd make the additional GUIDs 0x0075768A, 0x0075768C, and 0x0075768D. Or 0x00757680, 0x00757681, 0x00757682, etc. Just change that last letter or number, and you're good to go.
The only tutorial I regularly reference is by @hugelunatic and that's her repository technique tutorial. I can never remember all the steps on my own, so I check back on it every time I'm doing something I want slaved.
My biggest piece of advice would be to work smarter, not harder. Think about what you're creating, and clone something that makes creating your job easiest, at least until you really get the hang of SimPE and all the different parts of it. For instance, if you're making something decorative with glass, clone the football helmet in a case because it has a glass subset and you won't have to change a bunch of things in the TXMT because of it. If you want to make an end table with a lot of slots, clone an end table with a lot of slots already. There's no need to reinvent the wheel. Learning to do this can be time consuming and frustrating, but so much of it is trial and error and just getting used to the SimPE program. Any way you can make things easier on yourself... do.
Other tips based on my own errors... if at first your object doesn't succeed, go to Tools > Object Tools > Fix Integrity. More than once that's righted a frustrating problem I spent way too long trying to puzzle through. If you find your recolors aren't showing up, it's because you forgot to click the checkbox next to update all MMATs and update (see: Keoni's step 16 for reference). Go and check it, update it, and then redo your recolors with the corrected MMAT. For glass subsets, make sure the "stdMatAlphaBlendMode" in the TXMT has a "Value" of blend. If you have things like leaves or filigree or something that has a white outline that should not have a white outline, go to the TXMT and find the field that says "stdMatAlphaTestEnabled." Change the "Value" from 0 to 1 and the white boxes will be gone.
I hope this was clear enough to be at least a little helpful. I'm still learning myself, so I know just how overwhelming it can be. If I get a little extra time, I'll try to put together a step-by-step tutorial myself with all the little tips and tricks I've picked up through trial and error.
It can be really intimidating at first, but once you start spending time in the program, the pieces of it kind of fall into place. I know that may sound like a cop out, but it's really not. I'm nowhere near an expert, but I'm much more confident with it now than I was just a few months ago.
Be patient with yourself! If an object is causing tons of problems, sometimes it's best to start over from scratch, or at the very least, walk away for a while and come back to it. Making mistakes is part of the learning process. Good luck!

You probably do a lot of life drawing seeing as how perfectly fluid your art always is so this ask might be redundant lol but,, i was wondering what kind of references you usually use? Do you just google similar poses, does it come from your mind, or do you have a go-to app to look through like pinterest?👉👈 i ask bc I struggle a lot with poses and usually when i look them up i end up drawing nothing bc its not. Ever good enough for me/what im looking for lol😔 still not sure how to even draw characters smoochin, rip
thank you, nonny!! i do a lil bit of life drawing, but man i really do feel the same way you do. while i'm happy to show some art when i get it done, the process can be a real struggle.
sorry this is gonna be long and all over the place lol hope it helps tho:
life drawing good: i recommend ditching the idea of finding the 100% Perfect Ref right off the bat. studying anatomy and life drawing (this site has a range of body types and fun poses) somewhat regularly, therefore growing my mental library so that i can try and make whatever pose is in my head happen later, has been more viable to me than spending hours looking for the Perfect Ref.
drawing a bunch of generic people skating without pressure of creating proper character art is good practice, and it primes me to then come up with a skating pose of my own.
ref hunting: i save pictures i might use as refs regularly in a browser folder - good refs, bad refs, boring refs - losing a ref standard can be helpful because at the end of the day it’s what you make with it, so it doesn’t have to be particularly mind-blowing to begin with. you don’t wanna reinvent the wheel or create the most never-been-done-before pose, you just wanna get a thing right.
pinterest is very good for poses, yes, though you have to know how to look for them - i.e. i found that typing out "dynamic pose" will not yield organic results, as opposed to looking up people in motion like athletes, boxers, skaters and such. for fighting, i recommend using photos or clips from (ideally staged lol) fights, as opposed to stock images where the models are standing for a while posing - the former preserves a lot of the movement. i also recommend looking up group photos from events or shows for interesting natural poses and people interacting.
best hot tip of all tho: what helped me most is to not treat references very religiously. don't be tied down by what's in your ref, or not finding the perfect one, because then you're focusing on accuracy and not necessarily on what you wanna communicate with your drawing. if you can't find what you're looking for in full, just use a part that you find interesting, and then bullshit the rest and revise accordingly.
idea-generating can be very hard but you can practice it like any other skill, because having a decent idea of what you wanna draw is helpful - you don't have to have the whole pose visualised 100%. it's the mood, body language and expressions, that i think are more important. looking at refs can help reveal your ideas and intentions, but i will not create them for you i’m afraid.
for example, speaking on characters smooching, i've drawn these using refs in   pretty uptight way with no ideas beforehand - and i find them painfully boring because they're not rly communicating anything aside from a anatomical accuracy (more or less);
Tumblr media
i was being too intent on staying faithful to the reference, and they're looking kinda stale to me. the only one that was done without any ref, was the bottom left - which i like! bc it's got spice and it’s portraying some emotion.
but i wouldn't have drawn it if i hadn't already started on the others, so maybe another good tip is to trust the process and not give up mid-work!! drawing stuff you’re not proud of is still drawing stuff, and not everything you create is gonna be satisfying. things are gonna click here and there, but you never know when, so don’t give up on your ugly artsy ducklings!!

Hello, I am the same anon. I am not Jackie hater,i just think she is self centered person 🤷‍♀️.In my opinion the difference between Jackie and Lottie's dream is that Jackie wants to be cared for, to be loved by her "friends", but she doesn't do the same for others, and Lottie serves others without expecting anything in return.but correct me if i'm wrong
hi anon, thanks for clarifying. i guess i just decided i disagreed with you and didn't really feel like getting into all the reasons why because i feel like it's been said before and i'd just be reinventing the wheel here by saying it all again. i also honestly found it kind of difficult to tell whether the ask was in good faith or just trying to get a reaction, which put me off from answering it.
but if you truly want my thoughts, i'll get into it as briefly as i can (which will probably still be lengthy).

technically you're not wrong. jackie does often behave in self centered ways, and she does want shauna to say she loves her, and she did never say it to shauna (not that we saw, at least). but i think this is just missing some context and nuance, like that jackie's self-centeredness, while real and definitely harmful, comes from a place of insecurity that she is unable to control.
i'm also a little puzzled by the idea that wanting shauna to tell her she loves her is a sign that she is self centered. yes, she never said it to shauna (again, not that we saw. there's more to their relationship than we got on screen, and of course it's significant that we never saw jackie say she loves shauna, but if you pull the thread a little further, you can probably imagine there are reasons why she didn't/couldn't - maybe it feels too real to her? maybe she's uncomfortable exposing her feelings like that?). but i dont really see that as an indicator of jackie's selfishness.
and yes, jackie wanted shauna to love her so desperately that she often sought that love in toxic ways. i am not like, on the bandwagon that jackie never did anything wrong. i think she's often shortsighted and can be a jerk. but as with every character on the show theres more to it than her just "being self centered" as if it's some immutable personality trait that sprung up out of nowhere.
as for your point about lottie serving without expecting anything in return, while jackie expects to be loved without offering anything in return...again i think i can sort of see where you got that from, i just disagree. i think in the pilot jackie showed clear signs of caring for the other girls, and imo as much as jackie wants to be loved, she also wants TO LOVE. i feel like that is kind of at the core of her personality. i think she would love to be given an opportunity to love shauna without having to hold back. i think she would also love to love the other girls, but she's insecure/doesn't have a strong identity, so she doesn't feel confident enough to love like that because it's just too vulnerable. and by the time they get to the wilderness things have changed so completely and she has no idea where she stands anymore, so she retreats and lashes out.
so im sorry for leaving you hanging. i hope this clarifies my position a little. again, technically, i dont think you're "wrong", but i do think it's not as simple as you make it sound.

thought experiment time.
let's suppose for a second that the manosphere arguments on the loneliness epidemic among men and the "crisis of masculinity" are both empirically true and genuine cause for concern (I don't think that any of these issues apply only to men, but we're playing along).
the first obvious question is, "what do you expect for women to do about this?" but this is an issue that constantly gets brought up without any kind of proposal for a solution other then I think to eat more protein and perpetuate more body dysmorphia among men but I digress. I want to go a bit deeper rather then stopping at this point.
so often it's now getting cited that women are consistently outperforming men academically and have begun to outcompete men for college-level education completion and are beginning to tip the scales now in income earned on average and that this is leaving men in a void of not having access to women who have higher education then them.
but here's what I want to talk about. the narrative here is something akin to, feminists show up from out of no where and for no reason start pushing women to adapt what were once traditionally masculine traits of things like investing in yourself in your early life, being ambitious, setting personal goals etc. and for some reason it seems like all the manosphere dudes take this as affront to masculinity because they have artificially constructed a world where women's success and men's success are a zero sum game, but again I'm digressing.
I think what absolutely none of these manosphere dudes realize is that the messaging on traditional femininity never stopped. we all have continued to be conditioned to serve the well-being of others, to organize our relationships around empathy and compassion, to see everything from everyone else's perspective before our own, etc. the ambition was piled on top of that. and we have kicked ass at achieving it, apparently, at least from the manosphere's perspective.
so here's my point.
what the manosphere has proposed as a solution to this supposed crisis of masculinity and loneliness epidemic has never once been take a queue from the girls and try to learn empathy as a skill set on top of the social conditioning that you're already getting as a man. the answer is 100% of the time to double down on developing their individual identity, self-improvement, personal routine stuff. if women have succeeded by adopting our strategies from before then the only answer is to build new strategies because we can't look to women as leaders, we have to reinvent the wheel now if we want to establish our new identities. and like dudes we want so badly to help you. all the time we're like yeah, it's hard with technology all the isolation we all deal with, it's hard to succeed at work, it's a lot of pressure to find a path, and the answer is always you couldn't possibly understand because you're not a guy. and like ok but do you not see the irony of complaining about the loneliness epidemic and having poor relationships and literally rejecting any help or sympathy or compassion from anyone? what is it you expect us to do? if you struggle to form intimate relationships (both platonic and romantic) is it really wild to work on your relationship building skills? why are you doubling and tripling down on self help and manosphere podcasts and body building when all of those are activities you do primarily alone?
the truth is the podcasters have a lot to gain from your isolation and women genuinely want to help you connect with other people and if you'd focus 1/10 the amount of energy into developing your interpersonal skills as you spend on developing yourself, you'd probably have friends and a girlfriend and maybe even an established life. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this.

I have a feeling you're still imagining "not rare" as in "up to 20-30% maybe" and not as in "99%, status quo in everyday arguments at all levels of discourse in every arena about every subject". Today, finding people anywhere who can argue _believably for more than ten seconds_ or even _at all, hypothetically, while hedging, without throwing a tantrum_ in support of their opponents' position is hard, let alone those doing it _well_.
I want to very strongly reject this kind of cynicism, and also kind of clarify for myself what I was talking about.
Because, first, I wasn't trying to create a comprehensive portrait of the entire conspiracy theorist mindset, but to identify what seems to me to be one aspect of what seems to me to be a certain mindset at work in the world.
My model here is based on models attempting to describe high control groups so I am absolutely not saying that the kind of thinking I was trying to describe there is all it takes to be a conspiracy theorist or that everyone who exhibits it exhibits it to the same extent.
If you look at the checklist at that link, it would be easy to pull one bullet point out and claim that lots of very benign groups do it. Not all groups that, say, control the hairstyle and clothing of their members are therefore high control groups comparable to Scientology; but that doesn't mean that control of your visual presentation isn't related to what makes a high control group.
I'm trying to talk out what I'm observing in the world, and in the process I'm probably reinventing the wheel; but if I knew who else talked about this kind of thing I'd just cite them.
What I was talking about was not just the process of attributing hidden motivations to your opponents, and it certainly wasn't just failing to understand what your opponents believe.
Rather, it's a kind of process, and I think by arguing with people I've clarified how it works.
First premise: your world-view is considered so self-evident that it is impossible for any person to doubt it. (I almost said "rational person" but that's not correct; the mindset I'm trying to identify explicitly rejects the idea of irrational behavior at odds with the obvious world-view).
Second premise: you believe that people act in accordance with their knowledge of this obvious world-view. Irrational behavior, or behavior based on alternative world-views are simply impossible given how obvious your world-view is.
Conclusion: Because your world-view and thinking are so obvious, the results of all actions are obvious as well. Therefore, any action which frightens or harms you must have been deliberately intended to harm or frighten you.
That "deliberately" is extremely important. This is a conflation of intention with result.
It is not merely the belief that your opponents have secret intentions that they won't disclose, nor is it the belief that, by doing things that have negative consequences your opponents demonstrate a reckless disregard for important consequences.
Rather, it is a process that replaces the question, "Why did you hurt me?" with the question of "Why did you want to hurt me?" because it is a world-view that cannot distinguish between those two.
This is related to conspiracy thought because if this conflation is strong enough it practically requires the creation of conspiracies.
Because in real life people do have differing world-views and do behave irrationally.
So, for example, in the link above Rod Dreher thinks that the actions of that Satanist group allow actual malevolent supernatural beings to increase their power on earth to harm godly humans.
The Satanic church claims that they just want to increase religious freedom and lobby for access to abortion.
The explanation given by the Satanists must be dismissed out of hand; that they are working to increase Satan's power is sufficient to demonstrate that they believe in Satan and want him to increase in earthly power.
So now Dreher has two questions that desperately need to be answered: Why do the Satanists want Satan's power to increase, and why do they feel the need to hide their real goals?
Nothing the Satanic church can say will possibly be sufficient to answer this, so Dreher is required to speculate and invent hidden motivations in order to be able to explain their actions while still attributing his world-view to them (Why it is so psychologically important to attribute his own world-view to them is its own whole thing I'm sure).
This process, this conflation of results with intentions, is to me one of the red flags that indicates you may be dealing with a crazy conspiracy theory rather than a real one, but it is certainly not sufficient to prove that's what you're dealing with.

If you're not too busy, would you mind blinding me with library science? Infosynth sounds like a useful skill and I'm far too dumb and lazy to go around reinventing the wheel all the time.
it is! unfortunately it’s not really something there is a lazy approach to - the lazy/time-strapped approach here is really to get someone else who has spent the time developing these skills to do infosynth for you: - this is why health librarians are an increasingly important part of healthcare provision, for instance, and it’s what I do as a freelancer for people whose time is at a premium.
it’s also something i have less experience teaching than a lot of other infolit skills; I do think you can really only get good/quick at it with a lot of practice.
but, if you’re interested in learning the good news is there are a lot of free librarian-compiled resources on this and other infolit skills available on the library websites of universities, which are usually accessible without an institutional log in.
Here is a decent one with links to some more in depth sources.
These are going to be aimed at an audience of people who are using these skills in an academic context, but the core skills are pretty cross-applicable.
What comes with practice is being able to very quickly evaluate things like
whether this source is worth using (relevant, reputable)
how much of it you need to read,
and how much information you need to save from each source in order to be able to do the synthesis part later without revisiting the source.
(There’s also finding good sources to begin with, but that’s a different skill.)
What is key imo is to start with a well-defined research question, or more informally a good sense of what you’re trying to find out and for what purpose, and who the audience of your synthesis is.
I like to use something like OneTab or Zotero that lets me easily save a bunch of pages that i can go back to later. I also like to do a decent amount of just reading around before i even try to do anything else. It’s important to sorta just get oriented with stuff so that i have the relevant context for making decisions about how i go about it when it comes to doing anything more rigorous.
But ultimately with infosynth you need to be at peace with the fact that you are the one doing the legwork. Yours is the long boring task of somewhat-rigorously locating and reading lots and lots of stuff in order that you might tease out the seeds of a good synthesis.
I hope this helps somewhat; this is one of the domain skills i turned out to be Just Good At and i do think that often makes me worse at teaching things!
if you have any sort of a connection with a university (or work in healthcare) it’s worth checking if tuition in this sort of thing is available to you through your library. Many of the people who have the option to take this up aren’t aware of it. you can sometimes get infolit tuition at public libraries too

Reinventing the Wheel - Ch 23: Turbulence
Author: timespaceandfilm
Fic Rating: E - this fic has some NSFW content in other chapters, 18+ only
Chapter Rating: M
Pairings: Sebastian x Female Farmer, Maru x Sam, Abigail x Emily, other side ships implied
Chapter Word Count: 8.5 k
Chapter Warnings: arguing, Seb being a little mean, bad reactions to potions, angst
Chapter Summary: Seb makes some questionable choices and Charlie is left to deal with the aftermath.
Blurb:
I'm in the process of collecting maple syrup from the three trees I have tapped when I notice Seb emerging from the mountain trail. My heart rate spikes as I try to decipher his body language. He seems calm. I wave to get his attention.
Seb meanders over, his expression completely neutral.
“Hey.”
“Hi.” I look up at him from under the brim of my straw hat.
His face softens a little as the corners of his mouth quirk up. I try to hold onto that expression as he gets closer.
“You're here early,” I note.
Seb nods. “Yeah. Whatcha up to?”
I raise an eyebrow. “Just collecting syrup from these tappers.”
His brows furrow. “Shouldn't they give you sap that you boil down into syrup?”
This gives me pause. “Huh. Yeah that's how it usually works. Maybe these tappers process the sap too. That would explain why it takes so long for them to produce a bottle.” I scratch my head.
“Hmm.”
“Anyway. We can complete the chef's bundle today after lunch.” I cradle the three bottles of syrup in my arms a bit awkwardly.
Seb sighs and takes one. “I wanna visit the wizard.” He walks towards the front of the house and places the bottle in the chest for community center stuff.
I gulp as that sense of dread pulses through me again. “Are you sure that’s a good idea right now?”
There’s this air about him that’s becoming more emotionally charged as he follows me into the house. Seb just stares at me, his expression hard-set, unwavering. I set the other two bottles down on the counter next to some dry ingredients I’ve set out.
“Look,” I sigh. “I know you probably want to find out more about how your father is connected to all of this, but I just think you should wait until you’ve had more time to think clearly about it.”
His nostril’s flare. “You don’t think I have been?” He scoffs. “You think I didn’t spend every second last night thinking about it?”
I wince at the icy tone he’s using. The toxic bots are eating this shit up.
“Ok. Well, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to just talk to Magnus.” It’s an effort to keep my voice even. “I have a few more things to do this morning, so we can go after lunch.”
Seb shakes his head. “I’m going now.” He turns and starts heading out the door.
“But-”
“Come with me, or don’t. I don’t give a shit.”
I swallow hard, blinking back tears as I grab my sword and my backpack.

Total Beginner's Guide to running a tumblr fandom event week
So, you want to run a fandom event, like a week (or a bingo), and you don't know how to get started? Here's a guide to the process. It's not perfect, and the best experience remains to try your hand at it! Anyone has tips to add, please feel free! My credentials are that I've run 4 events across 2 fandoms, and will be using those works as examples along the way. This is a LONG POST.
Collect data
You don't want to run a week that already exists. It's bad etiquette, and you could step on toes. It also could be bad for your event, because people who already follow the well established event blog may not bother with yours.
Beware too of timing clashes! People are busy and might not be able to do multiple weeks at the same time. That being said it's not rare for weeks to run close to each other with parallel topics.
For example, "X/Y Kink Week" will not necessarily appeal to the same creators as "X/Y fluff Week". And some motivated fans may want to do both!
Check your fandoms for blogs like this Star Wars events aggregator!
Another aspect of data collection is more hands on: go and visit the blogs of all the weeks you took part in, and all the ones you find as you browse, type random week ideas, see what pops up. Check fandoms you aren't in as well! Check out their art, their FAQ, their masterposts. Take notes. Better, copy paste all the great turn of phrases to workshop later!
There's no need to reinvent the wheel, if you see a couple of blogs have incredible FAQs and rules, lift healthily and apply to your own event (of course, no one likes plagiarizing, so use your own words). Save the banners and "brand art" from blogs that slap. If it arrested your eye, it probably worked for others.
Having a strong visual identity is important. We'll get back to that later.
Another point of data you want to look into is, well... Is there a demand for your idea? You may have seen these posts floating on your dash before, called "Interest Check". Even blogs running yearly events will set those up, floating date ideas, etc.
It's best to run such checks from your own personal fandom blog or by reblogging a post from your newly created event blog, to reach more people (assuming your followers are into that same fandom). Ask around on discord communities too. If no one wants to do it... You risk spending a lot of time and effort for little return.
But that's fine too! Maybe you're running this week because your 5 fandom buddies all want to do it, and some randos may join!
Don't be afraid if you don't get hundreds of notes. It's all proportional to fandom size, how many people you reach yourself, but also, such blogs get bigger when they're run over time. I ended my first Arcane event with 70 followers. After 3 events it has 216! Obviously any future "interest check" I do will reach far more people.
2. Sit down and think about it
I'm sure you've already been thinking a lot about that fandom week you want to run, but you need to think some more.
Is it around a very popular ship? Is the fandom very young and buzzing with creativity? > You might want to enlist several mods to help you out!
About mods... You can add them by clicking on your blog and going to members
Tumblr media
Be careful whether you want someone to be an admin or a mod. As you can see, I can choose to leave, remove or promote mod 2, but I can't do anything to mod 1. That's because I made them admin, and the blog belongs to them as much as me. No mutiny possible!
Mods can't edit the posts made by admins (only their own). This power distinction is very useful when someone has a popular fandom week blog but no time to run the event, and wants friends or fellow fans to help, without losing final say on their blog. For example, I don't own the Obitine blog, but I ran the 2021 event as a mod since the admin (who I don't know!) had no time for it.
Tumblr media
If you are not doing a specific ship but instead focusing on a character or a place or concept, what sort of ship will you allow to write for/depict?
Even if you don't want to touch the topic or anti vs. proship, people will label you on their own.
Do you want to ban certain ships to avoid expected backlash? Mishandling this can also make you look like an anti yourself and bring its own backlash. Not passing judgement on what the solution is here, after all you do you! Just know that people online will have strong opinions and may not be afraid to slug them at you, no matter how hard you try to stick to your guns. Running an event is stepping out quite publicly.
If your week is a "rarepair" week for example, how will you set the limit? Do you define a rarepair as "a ship under X amount of fics on AO3" or some other measure? Again, will you be allowing controversial pairings?
You'd think running a Gen event would save your ass, but the only time I received death threats was because I was reblogging someone Anon didn't like... On an event about parenting/mentorship!
Once you've decided on such rules, SPELL THEM OUT and stick to them.
Going back to the first bullet point, others have pondered the issue! Once you've decided on the type of event you're running, see how similar events managed setting boundaries.
Don't be afraid to make this a group effort and turn to your friends and server communities. You can also ask them for help deciding on prompts. Some blogs let their followers make suggestions, others don't.
Decide too what sort of medium you want to allow. Some weeks are fanart only. Some are fanfic only. Others encourage anything.
Think about tagging policy and whether you'll deal with NSFW content. You'll want to state clearly if there are things you won't reblog.
All those conclusions will be distilled into the rules of your event and included on your masterpost accordingly.
3. Create your socials
You've made up your mind, and it's time to make a new blog! If you think you'll love this whole fandom event shtick, make a vague URL. "Fandom X Event blog" can be used multiple times, vs. something like "X/Y Shipping Week".
I've seen people run their event from their personal fandom blog. You do you, but I don't recommend it. It makes browsing the event much harder.
This is when you best do an interest check, if you haven't already.
If you expect fics to be made, you can create an AO3 collection (an example). You can copy paste your FAQ and rules directly there. If you want more submissions (especially fanart or cosplay), create a matching twitter account and link the two (it's done in Settings > Blogs (select the fandom blog) > scroll down to "Twitter" > Share on Twitter).
This is exponentially more effort and some blogs never bother. This is all up to you!
On your tumblr, create a FAQ page and enable Asks so people can reach out with questions. If you don't know how to create pages, check this tumblr tutorial. New blogs can't create pages, so better get started early. At worst you can make a post for the FAQ, but a page is easier to find.
4. Decide on the date and stick to it
Just what's on the tin. Don't surprise people with a late date change unless you really can't help it.
5. Time to make some artistic calls
The benefit of having a distinct visual identity is simple enough to understand if you've done any scrolling on the hellsite. Your eyes quickly glaze over, and text posts (especially long ones) get skipped way more easily.
Having a banner for your event makes your posts more arresting and more recognisable. Save this for important posts of course, not every update needs a banner.
It can be very basic stuff, and if you're not good with graphics, ask around. Plenty of creatives in fandom, and I'm sure a friend will be glad to do that work for you, and if they don't work on the event itself you can shoot them an @ in thanks.
The most important piece of visual media is going to be the prompt list. Not everyone bothers making an image, but I recommend you do. You should still pair it with a text post, but many people (such as myself) will download that image and work from it, rather than hunting your blog down each time to check.
Ideally, your prompt image should include the name of the event, the prompts, the dates and potentially your # and socials.
Using my own material for example :
Tumblr media
This post has the dates in the text, but not the image itself. I ended up making a lot of different versions of that prompt post, which allowed people to reblog whatever character they liked best and spread interest for the event, but I wish I'd put dates and socials on there!
Tumblr media
This one is better, with the days being listed a lot more clearly with their date. But the thin white font isn't ideal for readability. And that's important! Don't go overboard with insane graphics, clashing colours, complex fonts and effects. You want people to be able to parse the image easily and without squinting. The pretty effects and dividers here are just a funky free font from the internet called Bergamot Ornament.
Tumblr media
This one is the most inclusive. It also has the tags and socials! But ideally it should be 1 image instead of 2. It also makes good use of ALT description.
See here how the banner style of that last one was kept across the subsequent posts? And then across all the daily prompt art. This makes the event more distinct and identifiable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've done daily prompt art in other events too. They're definitely on the side of overkill, but if you're having fun preparing art for your event, why not?
5.b. Wait, what about the prompts?
You do you! It should be part of your research. If you're running a month long event, a prompt a day is best. If you're running a week, 2 prompts a day is more common, in case people hate the one prompt. Some people like to do word prompts + AU prompt + image prompt... In our trans event we had 4 prompts a day. In our bingo cards we sometimes had 2 prompts in a square! Multiple prompts can also help having a gen and shippy option in the same day (like "cooking together" and "first kiss" might result in very different dynamics, but people can also have fun doing a piece with a first kiss happening while cooking together!)
Pick what you like best, but less is more for a beginner.
6. The important posts
The main two posts are the one announcing the dates and the rules, aka the "Masterpost", and the one with your prompts.
The Masterpost announces the dates, the # for the event (pick something easy and UNIQUE!!), explains what sort of event you are, includes the basic rules, and links to your FAQ, all your socials and AO3 collections. This post is nice with a banner. See here (a bingo masterpost for a change)
The Prompt post includes the visual prompts, and the complete text version of said prompts, the date, the #, and a link to the masterpost. See the posts linked above. You'll want that pinned to the top of your blog until the start of the event, and arguably throughout.
7. Give yourself time, and now advertise
Don't get a week started too quickly! People need some time to see your blog. Getting started on preparations 2 months ahead is good I think. Not any less than a month, but you can play further ahead of time, especially if you run a lengthy interest check and involve fans in prompt picking.
A good way to be on people's dash a lot as you build to the week is to have posts and banners leading up to the event, as shown above. "Two weeks to go!" and "One week to go!", final countdowns, etc.
Part of your preparatory research should have you browse the archives of popular event blogs, to see what sort of posts they made in the lead up to the event.
Be careful with how you tag your own posts, as they will be appearing in tumblr searches. Make sure your posts show up in the important tags.
Don't neglect discord! Servers can be quite insular, and if some of your friends are on multiple servers, they can help you promote the event more widely. Word of mouth can really do wonders. I've learned about weeks solely because someone mentioned working on some prompts in a discord server!
Opinionated advice : some people like to reblog art ahead of the week to build hype. I have done it myself in the past, and in the end I strongly suggest you don't. Being a blog dedicated to promoting a concept (a ship, a character, etc) is different from running an event. Going back to people having opinions about you... Some artist may resent having their art shared on an event blog, as it makes it look like they contribute to said event. Maybe they don't want their work shared to a greater audience. Maybe they don't like your philosophy, the other ships you sail, etc. Of course you could always reach out for permission! This remains a personal choice and a matter of etiquette, but I think an event blog is more professional when sticking to its event content.
8. Follow your own tag
Type your event tag in the search bar and hit the follow option. This will create a shortcut, whenever you click on the search bar! It works on mobile too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once the week gets started, you'll discover that people don't follow the rules, no matter how you spell them out and how much you plead.
You might beg people to @ your blog and use #ThisEvent2022, and they'll still go ahead and not @ you and post under #this event.
I tend to also check such adjacent tags to cover all bases. I've caught a few people that way.
9. Running the week itself
This is by far the easiest part, and to make it even easier you should decide how you'll use tags ahead of time. Keeping a pattern is nice. It's tidy and helps navigating the blog long term. It'll help you too if you decide to create a masterlist of all entries for example. Bear in mind that people won't be able to find your reblogs by keyword searching tumblr directly. They'll only see the original posts. So the tags on your own reblogs are only for the purpose of archiving and to help people reblogging from you have basic tags suggested to them.
Character name, character ship (A x B, A/B, or Ship Name), character quality (Like Trans Character or Pirate Character), type of art (gif set, fanart, fanfic), Your event tag, fandom tag, any potential AU or NSFW tag, artist handle.
This is a thorough tagging system that works well for events with multiple characters or ships. Adjust accordingly!
Then it's a mix of checking the tags and your notifications! Kudo, reblog... Up to you to decide if you post all in one go, throughout the day, and how long you'll be checking the tag for late participants.
You'll also have to decide how to juggle cross-posting to twitter or from twitter to tumblr, which is less easy. Brush up on Twitter etiquette. I'm told asian twitter likes Quote Retweets, while the Western side of Twitter sees them as stealing notifications and traffic from the artist. Keep an eye on artists who post on each platform, and reach out to those who don't to ask if they're okay with you crossposting. When going Twitter > Tumblr, make sure to include a very clear link, and the #Artists on Twitter tag.
If you have mods, keep an eye out for mistake-reblogs, as it's a very easy mistake. Try to spread work around too. Maybe someone is in charge of Twitter. Maybe your co-admin is up while you sleep and will keep an eye on the blog, etc.
You don't have to do daily prompt posts, but my personal philosophy is that they can be useful to followers, and if they get passed around it's more advertisement for your event, so it can't ever hurt.
Regarding AO3, people might struggle to find your collection. I don't know why, it's happened to me with my own collections, others' too. Have a clear and easy collection name, and give people the exact word they need to enter. It may not show up in the menu, but the fic will still be added to the collection. Make sure the collection is open too, of course.
10. Wrapping up!
When the week is over, you can make a big old post thanking everyone who participated, mention highlights... This is when you'll want the masterpost to become your pinned post, instead of the prompts one.
And for a very clean blog (or after other events on the same blog) you can create a multi event (or year) masterpost that stays pinned between events. This would contain links to your AO3 collections, event tags, information like whether you're still open to late submissions or not, etc.
11. Okay but what about Bingos? Month long events?
The same rules apply!
Bingos are very similar in practice, except you have to make Bingo cards, either yourself or using free online tools. The easy way is to have 1 card for everyone. The more intensive version is to have more options and randomize cards, handing them out to anyone who asks. Most "free" online tools limit you very quickly, so that's more work.
You share the bingo card like a prompt list. People tend to use your card and "cross off" their entries, so making it look good is also important (and also why randomized cards take more time).
Bingos can be done over a week, but a less hurried pace is better, as the final/most OP version of bingo is to do the entire card, and that amounts to a lot more than 7 entries! You want to give the crazy people dedicated fans more time!
Some events run over a month, with daily prompts, others with weekly prompts, etc. Have fun making your own format, but a week is a good starting point.
That's it! Hope this guide was helpful! Go forth and run fun weeks!

21. Dystopian Au and 14. Bodyguard Au for UKUS
Hmmmmm Dystopian au's aren't generally my thing, not that I don't like them, I've just never really written one so this is my best stab at an idea, keeping it simple and definitely not trying to reinvent the wheel:
Alfred is a one-of-a-kind android in a world where androids of varying shapes, sizes, levels of intelligence, etc all exist with humans. Think Chobits if you're old like me XD
He was created with [insert super special thing] purpose here and for various reasons, he's pretty high profile and supposedly one of the most human-like androids ever created. He's bright eyed and curious and wants badly to be treated like the real person everyone says he is. But for [reason] he can't.
And because Alfred has a history of trying to escape and a history of almost-kidnappings, former MI6 badass turned private security agent, Arthur Kirkland is hired to be his bodyguard.
A luddite by choice (though with a secret history and knowledge of all things android), Arthur doesn't really see what all the fuss is about when it comes to Alfred, but money is money. But Alfred's innocent curiosity as well as wit and way of being real that isn't quite human but is somehow equally valid entrances Arthur.
Something something threats to Alfred's existence something something show me what being human feels like by which I mean fuck me something something something XD this is a little out of my wheelhouse but you get the idea
