a/n : i know I promised chapters of belonging and the new girl fic but. i have no excuse i started college and have been SO busy between socialising like a Normal Human Being and assignments I literally have no time but I heard this one (1) song from mitski's new album and yeah. that's it. thats all. maybe the real fics were the mitski songs we heard along the way. i hope you guys enjoyed this!

"so what you're saying is you'd rather kill a man with your bare hands than-"

"no! that's what you heard. i simply said something that's completely up to interpretation," you say, laughing. Jean's own laughter rings out in your bedroom, his presence creating a dip in your mattress.

"totally not what you were saying," he argues, still with a smile laced into his tone. you heard it, even if you were mockingly rolling your eyes.

"im simply the artist, jean, you can percieve what I said in any way. not my fault-" you say, cutting yourself short with a laugh as he scoffed loudly, "not my fault you want to see it in a negative light."

"yeah, yeah, you and your words. you're gaslighting me right now, I hope you know." he says, crossing his arms infront of his chest. you laugh softly again, shaking your head.

"oh, look who's using his big words now."

he laughs at that, and you swear your heart almost gives out. making people laugh is an achievement in your own terms, but somehow, making jean laugh sounds prettier. it sounds beautiful, a sound meant only for your ears to listen to. he doesn't cover his mouth when he laughs, unashamed of laughing at your jokes, his shoulders shaking with the weightlessness of being with you.

there was a low warmth in your room. between the illumination of your soft orange desk lamp and Jean's imperial warmth beside you - your belly felt full and aching with laughter. you supposed thats how you always felt with him, full and light and aching just a little - enough for you to appreciate it. jean wipes the corner of his eye with his index finger, an action you take as a win. you hoped his own belly ached as much as yours did. if he didn't love you back, atleast he'd be in the same boat as you, and maybe that would be better than being in love with you. less of a liability, more of a space, the same weightlessness.

the end of his laughter forces a pause in your conversation-turned-banter. and for the first time, you didn't feel the need to fill in the spaces. the large gaps were already filled with concrete - the comfortability of each other. maybe that was better than being in love with you, less of a trap, more of an understanding.

you lay your head on his shoulder with a small smile still on your face. he lets you, as if your warmth was meant to entangle with his own, as if his heat was less of a home to him than yours was. he inhales, something you can feel, before he starts his sentence. his arms are still crossed over his chest, his hands laying on his biceps, his thumb doing the small and endearing thing it does; stretching away from his palm, almost towards you, like he's reaching out, fidgeting. his thumb taps on his bicep before he starts speaking. you close your eyes, content.

"yknow, when I was small, like 5 yeard old, I wanna say? my mom would have to pry me away from the neighbour's dog. his name was leo-" you stifle a laugh at that. all dogs are named Leo, somehow, you want to say, but you let him continue. "and he was this mixed breed little guy. a beaglier, and he would always wag his tail when he saw me. i didn't," he says, pausing a little, and you can almost visualise how he's talking as if you aren't sitting side by side but facing him entirely. it's a pause of quiet acceptance, "i didn't have that many good friends, if any, so I would cry everytime my mom told me to go play with the other guys. but as soon as I saw Leo my day would be better. i loved that dog. even before moving away for college, i knew i'd miss him more than any of the people I was friends with." you lace your fidgeting hand with his. they're warm and calloused and accepting, almost eagerly. and then he's quiet again, and you're smiling again, but it's only again because it sounded pathetic to say you never stopped smiling with him.

maybe it wasn't pathetic, just more vulnerable. you hum as an agreement to his story, letting him know that even if your eyes were closed, your ears were open, hanging onto every single word escaping his lips. his head rests ontop of yours, and you can feel his voice now.

"i didn't think I'd ever call this place a home, if I'm being honest." he says. you want to ask him what he meant, but you let him continue after he stops. and maybe that's what unsaid love is, you think, letting someone continue their ranting even when you have so much to say and agree and add on to, because you want to find any and all opportunities to relate to them, because now they know you do. now they - now jean - knows that you understand and agree and want to add on to whatever he says. he continues, his voice soft and deep and warm and gentle all at once, and you would've wondered how his voice did that if he hadn't continued.

"but...i don't know. somehow, this... you, feel more like home than my childhood bedroom does, yaknow?" he says.

you know what he means. you agree. you want to add on to his words, but you can't because your throat has dried up, the moisture leaving your mouth and going straight to your eyes. you sigh out a small exhale, and it says more than you ever could. and jean knows what it means. he agrees. he wants to add onto.

but he doesn't, and neither do you. your interlinked hands do the thing that all human hands do in the sense that you're no better than anyone else in love. in the sense that they squeeze together impossibly tighter, to the point where they ache comfortably. his hand clasps onto yours like your words clasp onto his heart.

Jean's voice is soothing when he speaks again. at this point he knows the effect he has on you, you're sure he does, because jean is exactly the type of person to tease you for loving him so much despite it all. but he continues to talk not because of the fact that you love him, but because of the fact that he loves you. he continues to talk until your hand becomes loose in his, until your breathing is slowed and relaxed and as beautiful as all the other things you do.

he smiles after it. his head is still resting on yours and for this moment, for this night, he thinks, he doesn't mind if he wakes up with his back aching after sleeping upright, neck twisted a bit uncomfortably, because being with you is everything but uncomfortable. his back won't ache, and he knows this because loving you aches enough, in the way that makes him appreciate it. less of a liability, more of a comfortable weightlessness of your head on his shoulder, supported by him and his presence. less of a trap, more of an understanding of how much more he'd be willing to endure for you. more of a comfort, instead, of knowing how much you wouldn't put him through, not knowingly. more of a realization, instead, of how much he loves you.

in the warm light of your orange desk lamp, jean and your breaths sync, your hands still loosely clamped together, jean swears this is better than whatever he thought love would be. jean swears this is better than any of the love he had dreamt of recieving as a teenager, all the dramatic rom-comness of it all. here, with you, with your warm and gentle and soft voice that had died out because of the safety that came with his presence, he swears this is better than any paradise he could've gone to.

maybe that's all your love is, he thinks. comfort, limitless, timeless, but maybe your love isnt a word said out loud, isn't something that language can procure.

maybe it's just this. just the dip of your mattress, just the glow of your desk lamp, just the sound of your gentle laughter.

he loves you. he swears it feels better than any heaven.

Despicable headcanons for eddie munson

Terrible and (sfw) filthy headcanons for eddie munson that make him my dream man

None of this is ironic

- wears all those layers bc he gets cold really really easily and every time he starts to shiver and his teeth start to chatter at like 50 degrees he is completely humiliated

-only remembers to brush his hair about once a week. Usually he just kinda pats it down until it's the right shape. The mats add volume

-DEFINITELY cuts his own bangs

-either got arrested when he was like 17 and booked it into the forest and hopper was like whatever dude I'm busy and he broke the handcuffs in a very stupid and dangerous way

-OR he just found em in the woods bc as somebody that lives near a lot of woods sometimes you find weird shit in there. One time I found super old car with bullet holes in it.

-speaking of yknow sometimes ur in public and you'll see a piece of clothing or a hair tie or a water bottle that somebody obviously left behind and you know not to touch it bc gross? Eddie doesn't know not to touch it. He touches it and picks it up and takes it home and fucking might wash it and definitely wears it

-found his vest on the side of the road in a puddle and took it home like a Charlie brown Christmas tree

-gets no bitches sorry girlies. Extremely surprised to get one bitch but she's a slug woman too so it's tru love. First and foremost what he wants in a partner is for them to be the type to also eat dry cereal by the fistful

- if he scrolled thru the Eddie x reader tag and read the descriptions he would be terrified and would need to look up a lot of terms and would need to go lie down for a second after all that information

-calling Eddie on a bluff is extremely easy and extremely satisying

-full of love

-cries really easily but sometimes that's bc his eyes are huge and it's windy and he's been sitting in the dark for a long time

-has waaaaay too lax a policy on what's OK to eat after you drop it on the floor

-has really bad undiagnosed untreated adhd. Cannot focus unless he's invested, will say the first thing that comes into his brain and regret it instantly and its either something wildly off topic or a response to something you said 3 minutes ago

-sometimes absentmindedly chews on his hair and it gets hard on the ends. To his credit he knows that this is gross

-hey why am I getting turned on writing this thats weird right

-you'd expect him to have like a million stupid fancy bongs that he won't shut up about but actually he has like 4 and only uses one and it's the fucking grodiest yellow tinted black bongwater that hasn't been changed in ages resin inside that looks like fuckin bushes bong you have ever seen and will not use it. One time you steal it and clean it out with an entire bottle of rubbing alcohol. It's still kinda gross when ur done and he genuinely would silently hold it against you for years

-uses his jeans as a napkin

-can't remember the last time he washed his jeans. Says you're not supposed to wash them but put them in the freezer. He does not put them in the freezer either

-smells like cigarettes. This one isn't sexy its just gross if somebody smokes weed and cigarettes they smell like cigarettes if somebody wears cologne and smoke a certain number of cigarettes that is all they smell like and it's kind of overwhelming until you literally air out and febreeze his whole fucking trailer and wardrobe to put a dent in it

-he got those holes in his jeans by falling over onto concrete really hard while trying to carry like 20 things at once inside

-very strangely patchy chest hair

-insomnia and watches a lot of infomercials because of it

-sometimes tastes things that aren't food if he's curious and nobody's around. One time he did lick a frog and it tasted weird and it was bad but he will always know what it tasted like so who's to say if it was a success or not

-laughs at horror movies but gets scared and jumpy for the rest of the night

-eats like an animal or Brad pitt in an oceans movie. If he can eat it with his hands by the fistful he will.

-I wonder if anybody can get which of these are autobiographical and how badly I'm giving myself away rn

-sometimes says and does things he saw his metal musician idols doing without knowing what they meant and being confused when confronted

-has AT LEAST one very badly scarred stick n poke disaster

-there are a lot of these and I honestly could go on probably indefinitely so I'm gonna stop now but every time I read a fic where he's too sexy and fuckable I'm gonna add 2 more to balance it out.

-one last one the wallet chain isn't for fashion it's for fashion AND bc he loses his wallet a lot

the time has come for me to rant about why almost all of my akashi playlist is billie eilish, sometimes im bad at wording my thoughts and i just wanna go "yknow that one billie eilish lyric? yeah thats him"

idk why i just really relate music to whatever in into at the moment, like obsessively

a couple are just gonna be vibe based but some will also be very detailed 0_0 im just gonna go in order of my playlist

i dont need to explain myself on this one but,,, he literally had a "nah im gonna be the bad guy" moment

im not currently doing writing prompts atm but oh god oh fuck i have THOUGHTS about this one

So like obviously we have some well trodden routes we could take here.... but who am i if im not making shit crazyinsane for kicks. this is making me think HARD about my hologram au, actually, which is lowkey inspired by localwheel's desertduo buzzcut season pmv (for the love of GODS watch this if you havent already, im insane out here)

Hologram au is essentially my tribute to the concept that sometimes if you play games they can come with unexpectedly serious consequences /lh

Or, in plainer terms: the life games are just that-- games. Specifically, they're like VR but you're living inside the game for a brief period of time while you play¹. All the lives, all the deaths, all the damage taken and betrayals etc etc? Thats just the life participants hardcore larping for fun. They arent actually feeling pain or death, it's all a hologram. None of it is real.

Except during the first game, Grian ends up committing to the bit a little too hard and catches actual feelings for Scar. The games become a mask-- he can do things he wouldn't normally do under the pretense that these actions arent real and don't have actual meaning attached to them. And then it becomes a cage: the games become the only place Grian feels he can display his feelings, where he's allowed to act as hopelessly in love with Scar as he actually is. Something something the soulful ache of buzzcut season's i live in a hologram with you that makes me want to pour hot lead down my throat [insert discord crying emoji]

So while it's not a forbidden love, per se (no outside forces are stopping it from happening), it's still treated by Grian as one. In the games he can act out and channel all that helpless love into a narrative, where it's safer to contain. Outside the games, though, that safety net comes tumbling right back down, and Grian ends up trapped between his role as Scar's platonic friend and the very romantic feelings he's developed during something that, in his eyes, has no business being taken so seriously. Maybe not a ground-breaking dynamic but the circumstances around it are very funky to me (and also realistic. who hasnt² accidentally developed a crush on somebody for incredibly arbitrary reasons, yknow?)

arc v 51-65 thoughts! JACK IS HERE FINALLY!!!! also crow. also, prison arc. they sent 14 year olds to actual adult prison! the gang learned about classism, corruption in the system and that you cant Beat Cops with Smiles, but with your Fists :)

-ok. in the back end of the reiji v yuya duel yuya seems surprised to hear yuzu is okay, just taken. and im like. OH IS THAT WHY HES SO UPSET?? HE THOUGHT SHE WAS /DEAD/??? I mean. you know what thats fair. being turned into a piece of paper/cardboard(?) cards. would usually mean death I guess and he did think thats what happened to her. I still think its silly for him to be so pissed at reiji who by all accounts is the nicest ygo rich guy in the entire serieses history imo. but reiji did withhold some info to test yuya a lil bit. but yknow. still.

-…reiji's mom…TOLD the WORLD about the war/invaders AND THEY CANCELED. THE. TOURNAMENT. THEY CANCELED IT AND PRIORITIZED THE WORLDS SAFETY. we ARENT getting a FULL TOURNAMENT ARC??? IN YUGIOH??? i am shocked. no way… (I know I said itd be really funny if a protag didnt win the tournament, but they CANCELED IT which is somehow even funnier to me) I cannot say I expected this at all but im not MAD abt it

-see the next ep when yuya v his mom we learn his mom was a former GIRL GANG BOSS??? WHERE HAS /THAT/ ENERGY BEEN THIS WHOLE SERIES??? instead of being a creep towards kids she couldve been characterized like this! the story abt her and yuyas dad is pretty cute but if /i/ i had a hot mob boss wife i wouldnt be telling her to solve everything with smiles not violence :) i would pick up a fucking bat with her. whatever its FINE

-god the lil montage of yuzu's dad dueling with her in a lil baby pouch on his back and pausing a duel to change her diaper was SO CUTE. TF BEST YGO DAD FOR REAL GOD. hes a duel school teacher!!! why!! cant he come to help!!!! why are they just letting an 18-19 yr old lead the lancers into anOTHER DIMENSION. i dont CARE that hes thee most responsible smartest guy ever or whatever. my god

-shun and serena are remarkably chill abt all of this, hope we see more of them talking and hanging out and stuff. like serena looks just like his sister and yuya looks like his bestie and u KNOW thats SO weird to him?? but also they were on oppisite sides of the war! i want! more interactions! (very funny theyre both kinda trailing reiji. tbh if /i/ was stranded in another dimension he would be the person id be latching onto out of this cast, too. very nice and level headed guy)

-MY GOD. yugo is SO sweet, his calm explanation to yuzu and them just sittin and talking was great. (his reaction to yuzu implying he loves rin was also very very cute. and rins design AUGH I love it SO much. yuzu is still best arc v girl for me but rins design is my fav. GREEN.) JACK!!! MENTIONED!!!

-while they were talking it sorta explained yugo v yuto was a huge misunderstanding bc yuto thought yugo was the Fusion Enemy and yugo thought yuto was yuri. very very understandable and funny. and also im starting to think everyone in this series is colorblind bc they cant tell any of the yuzu/yuya counterparts apart by hair… (also, speaking of yuri, where did he GO. whts HE up to. weve barely gotten any of him and id like More Please)

-it's…been a minute since I watched 5ds. years. and I only watched it once, so I know im probably going to get details wrong, but aside from jack and crow, all other charas so far are arc v originals? like melissa and Guy that Looks Like This :>/ arent in 5ds right… the city kinda looks different to me, but maybe its just the animation looks newer… are we going to get an explanation to where yusei is? bc if jack and crow are in this…like, none of the protags are in arc v. are they busy. is this a universe without them.

-YUZU'S REACTION TO YUGO DWHEEL DUEL IS SO FUNNY SHES LIKE. SO RATIONAL THO. my GOD she kept saying he should stop to duel on foot and yeah. playing yugioh (or, any card game) on a bike would be insanely hard. like you have to basically have your cards ALL memorized bc you gotta keep ur eyes ahead to drive, right, so ud only be able to glance? everyone in synchro world has insane memorizing skills. (I know to a degree you'd be able to make the d-wheels have a sort of autopilot, but no, we see them steering themselves and accelerating themselves…)

-the animation kept cutting to 3d models while they were dueling on their bikes and it did Not Look Very Good. it was still very fun.

-yuzu Learns About Corrupt Police and Society Today! She once again is the Real Protag to Me. reporter cowgirl ladys design is cute!

-what was the point of the duel if the cops were gonna just set up a blockade anyway tf. the entertainment aspect is SO fucked lmao bored rich ppl. too real. yugo u dont need to rise in society u gotta burn it all down its all fucked. -_-

-YUZU HAS BEEN IN SYNCHRO WORLD FOR (1) DAY AND IS NOW A WANTED CRIMINAL!!! HOT GIRL SUMMERRRRR. (and by proximity, yuya and serena lol)

-LAYRA SAW COPS AND FLIPPED OUT. understandable but also WHO HURT U. SHINGO IMMEDIATELY NOT GIVING A FUCK AND IS READY TO DUEL THE COPS. -you know I understanding theyre tryin to duel their way out of it but letting ppl from synchro see: fusion, action cards, and pendulum in ONE GO seems DANGEROUS.

-sorry, but shingo being arrested while yuya is like YAY ACTION DUEL LET ME ENTERTAIN U ^_^ IS THE FUNNIEST THING EVER. and everytime he asked layra if theyre okay they look like a goddamn espurr like O__O clearly NOT OK. VERY SCARED WITHOUT REIJI. WHY DID U BRING THIS TRAUMATIZED CHILD!!!

-there was a scene when yuya was like 'look at these beautiful ladies!" n his hippo girl monsters danced for an uncomfortably long time and the cops face kept being zoomed in on and he was like O__O this ep…i cant tell if its TRYING to make me laugh but it is, my god yuya u are making ME smile if no one else. for absolutely the Wrong Reason. the CHEERFUL TONE he takes on in this situation is SO NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE GRAVITY OF BEING. ARRESTED. this cop hes dueling is also the most tirest man ive ever seen which makes it so much better

(an irl example would be like, I enjoy making art for others to make them happy. but I also enjoy getting positive feedback for my own satisfaction!) absolutely nothing wrong with it!

HOWEVER. the impression I've gotten so far is that yuya gets upset when his opponent is the one being cheered for (a good example was the michio duel and that annoying trivia kid duel. he didnt seem real happy when the audience was rooting for them and not him!) as opposed to…I cant believe I'm comparing him to dennis but. the dennis v gon duel was a great example of what I think a more genuine entertainment duel should be…they were playing the roles of hero v villain, and dennis was great at improv there, quickly turning into the villain when Straight Man to his Comedy Guy routine Gon accused him of being the Real Villain in that situation. like he ROLLED with it and was perfectly fine with gon winning bc it suited their lil story and the audience loved it! I think entertainment dueling SHOULD be like that, like improv and acting bc you're entertaining ppl. ur a performer. u need to go w the flow more.

(Okay, this might not have been the best duel to show it off bc 1. hes dueling JACK of all ppl who declared hes gonna WIN and. he Will. 2. this is a situation where hes trying to showcase the strength of the lancers, so it wouldnt do to THROW the duel. but he couldve played into jacks dramatics a bit, made himself out to be more of a dramatic underdog, or a potential upstarter…for wanting to be an ENTERTAINER I want to see yuya channel his dramatics a LOT more than he does. esp w jack of all ppl!) to me it feels like yuya also ties a LOT of his self worth to how other ppl perceive his role in duels too which is Unhealthy (and again. is an extension of the 'smile when u want to cry' stuff imo, also pretty unhealthy) I…dont know if any of this is That Deep or theyre just trying to make jack seem like an asshole. I WANT it to be this deep bc its a REALLY interesting trait for a protag to have!

-kinda love how ppl in the Tops are dressed like old timey victorians. (also a lot of them have very western names) it just creates a very. unique vibe

-can I also just say i LOVE LOVE LOVE the trope in ygo of 'person does what they think is the final finishing move, then theres smoke and everyone is like :0 and when the smoke clears, the person is still standing in the duel because of some trap/spell/effect' IT HAPPENS SO MUCH IN ARC V AND I EAT IT UP EVERYTIME.

-...jack gave this random child servant a card and told him it suited him and the kids mad jack 'changed' and got mad jack compared him to a 'weak card'...first off its gonna end up being smth like 'even weak cards have potential, none of them are useless, its like u, u feel like ur a low level but u also have potential' (which. very yusei thing btw) but also if my hero gave me a card i would literally be SO happy this kid is dumb asf. jack literally wasnt even being RUDE when he gave it to him and jack is usually SO Rude like CMON. 'wheeh i had NO cards and jack gave me one but its WEAK so i dont want it' this is called being ungrateful. i know hes a kid so I shouldnt be so annoyed but damn its rude. its a REALLY cute card too (not one I recognize and the text is in japanese but its a cute lil cyber girl with pink hair and a tuning fork and bc this is synchro I assume its a tuner monster or smth?)
