v big news for annoying people called rusquared. so the song that was my most played in 2023 has a DUET VERSION NOW. fuck.
context: the song is sung in both korean & japanese, as a love letter to a lover on the other side of the ocean. it is assumed the lover speaks japanese and the singer korean, so she translates every line of her letter as she sings it to them.
so a duet, featuring a japanese singer, is just putting it in a whole different meaning. its a conversation now, not just a wistful song sung at the ocean's edge. at the end, the japanese singer sings in korean and the korean singer in japanese. they don't sound natural. they're singing words of love that they're not fluent in, but understand intimately.
the lyrics, to anyone interested (amateur translation i did w/ google's help):
my heart is crossing the sea
it takes flight on top of a poem
my heart is crossing the sea
it flies away on top of a poem
my heart continues down the road
it continues following the stars
my heart continues down the road
it continues following the stars
in the lost forest
please embrace my child-like heart
we will meet again someday
on a day of autumn rain
in the lost forest
please embrace my child-like heart
we will meet again someday
on a day of autumn rain
follow my heart that has been dyed white
i will follow your heart that has been burned white
my heart is crossing the sea
it flies away on top of a poem
my heart continues down the road
it continues following the stars
in the lost forest
please embrace my child-like heart
someday we will meet again
on a day of autumn rain
my heart crosses the sea
it flies on top of a poem
my heart travels down the path
following the stars
please follow my heart that has been dyed white
and ill follow your heart that has been burned white
my heart crosses the sea
it takes flight on top of a poem

In honor of a bunch of my friends being served iris rhizomes instead of daylily bulbs at a skills event and puking their guts out all night, here is a friendly reminder about wild edibles:
Do not eat any wild edibles that are at all new to you or you are even a little uncertain about without double and triple checking the ID with a trusted, professional resource. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT feed wild edibles to anyone else that you haven't repeatedly IDed and eaten yourself with no problems.
