rick (WRITER OF THE BOOKS AND THE SHOW) said that the show was BETTER! in all aspects, and if you're mad that it's not EXACTLY like the book— then go read the damn book idk. y'all always got something to bitch and moan about but the series was amazing! the actors, the cgi, the writing— it was top notch. money well spent, EASILY. a little rushed? maybe but considering the first book wasn't that eventful it doesn't matter. plus you can't necessarily put out 40-60 min eps for a show meant for KIDS and it's only the first season 💀 not only that but you can't expect the kids on set to work for that long for hours AND months on end, there are laws about this, people!!

Local detective is like, no problem dude. You had a personal relationship with the decreased but you can still handle the autopsy. I trust your professionalism. oh if only he knew that Bun just accidentally? on purpose? reframed the story of last night to Hot Stranger Tan arguing with Jane, who had a mark on her. Leaving out the part where Tan was clearly whaling on Bun's Old Friend because he'd done something not-good to Jane. We already see that Bun has like -100 in objectivity and good judgement lmao.

This will bode well for his love life.

I remain confused why Tan is stepping in to teach a class of students?? Does he really do a teaching side job?? idk this whole drama is a fever dream. I'm not gonna worry about it.

Love how early episodes Tan's entire modus operandi is to protect good doctor Bun by... warning him off in the most smugly menacing way possible.

Bun: "everyone is suspicious"

Bun: "but you are more suspicious than others"

It's not clear to me still, and this is a rewatch, if the whole, 'have Bun repeatedly attacked to terrify him into dropping the case' thing was Tan's idea & execution vs following orders from his brother. Either way it's nuts that Bun later just brushes that off, but that's why this is weirdo4weirdo.

It's like I can SEE Bun's thought process now. Which is both social darwin's law dumb but ALSO thirsty-guy understandable.

Tan is his best suspect for the murder & absolutely sketchy but also the hot guy he kissed when drunk & was kissed back. Now Tan keeps showing up and giving major sexy vibes and major I'm-involved-in-this-case vibes. Maybe he's the killer. Which would be bad. Bun will probably get murdered. But maybe he's not! In which case, Bun completely turning away his advances and not allowing himself to be pursued could mean hot guy loses interest. Bun is thinking with his dick but in his defense, hot guy keeps showing up and doing wild shit like telling him his hands smell good, and bringing him a cute Get Well Soon cactus, insisting on driving him home from the hospital, and beating up a trespassing thug.

Hi today we're talking abiut power level and my thoughts about certain gen rex characters being weaker than their peers in a way.

There's one thing I've been thinking about for a while and I just need to share ny thoughts. It's me wondering, if Rex when he was a part of Hong Kong gang, was the phisically weak one? Ofc now Rex is stronger than all of them but I've been thinking about how Tuck said that Rex back then couldn't do his builds, and only could steal money from ATMs. So Rex back then only had his technopathy and curring abilities, wich makes sense since in promises promises that was the only thing Rex could do aswell. These are awsome powers, don't get me wrong but like,,, they were street kids, they propably got into phisical fights a lot, and overall a power to pounch someone good would be useful back then. But technopathy and curring? I'm not sure how that would help, you can't pounch someone with technopathy. And his bare fists wouldn't propably do much eighter. Like he was propably 12-13 years old, skinny and short. And this leads me to think, he was propably phisically the weakest of the group back then. Like he has awsome useful powers, just not useful in combat. Honestly it's interesting to imagine Rex who's now so op, as the one who propably was left mostly helpless in phiscal fights since what would he do? Cure the attacker? And what if that attacker wasn't a currable evo but an adult man with a knife??? What are you going to do hack his phone??

Other thing kinda related to this topic, is how in current Hong Kong gang I can't help but feel like Skwyyd is now in this "weak in combat but useful as fuck regardless" position. Okay so like this might sound dumb and it propably does but hear me out. I'm not saying Skwyyd is weak, beacuse we saw him in fight and he can do it just fine BUT. Okay so Skwyyd's main abuility is that smoke ink thing wich is obviouslly really useful to distract the opponent. We also see him ONCE (I think correct me if I'm wrong) in his first apearance use like turrning his hands into tencales of sort that are great to pounch someone. But like we see him use that only once as far as I checked, and it makes me wonder if that wasn't retconed beacuse like?? Why wouldn't he use it more fr. Maybe it's beacuse around 3 years ago I was into Jojo and like it was so common there for character to be instoduced with some ability and then retcon it out of existance. But like I just can't help but feel like creators eighter didn't like that hand tencale smack thing and decided not to use it, or they just forgot since it wasn't that memorable to begin with. So of that's the case (wich if it's not, that means Skwyyd propably just thinks that power is lame and decided to not use it dhhdhdhd), we're left with a great distraction power and just regular fist combat skills wich Skwyyd definetley has!! Like just for this post I rewatched fights in that Hong Kong gang season 3 episode since that's the episode with him I memorised the least, and there's a moment where Skwyyd pounches the ground and OH MY GOD I WOULD CRY MY KNUCKLES WOULD HURT SO BAD and he was fine so he definetley has skill in that. But like I can't help but feel he would need some support while fighting other evos. Like he's phisicallt decently strong like I said, just not as strong as Cricket with her legs litearlly made for kicking or Tuck with whatever the fuck you call his bandage powers. But even if that doesn't convince you, I think we all can agree he's at least NOT THAT GREAT at parcour and jumping. Like for sure he's good enough since it was said Hong Kong gang did those parkour sessions everyday (besides the days they did arts and crafts ofcourse bruh), but also even durring one of these sessions, we see how he rides on the back of Rex Ride with Rex. Overall there's a pattern of Skwyyd being helped in some way while jumping. Like the way he gets on Tuck's back in that season 3 ep?? It all leads me to conclussion that even if Skwyyd is good and what he's doing, and not really "weak", he's still a bit weaker than his friends and he does need their help.

Been meaning to watch this since it was released around this time in 2022 but there was such a debacle with the airing, like airing for a 2 hour window on Youtube before it's taken down lol I hope I like it, I enjoy time fuckery and seeing the one you love die over and over again in front of you.

It's not that Tin being changed and cold now in this timeline is that different than what he was like in the original timeline first few loops. Similarly, this comment about "How do you know if Tin would be the same Tin if he didn't meet you."

I never commented on it but I guess Tin's wish to save Tol when they were kids really had a part in this loop?

This last ep hmmm it was good but somehow felt messier than the earlier loops, which felt move tightly woven together and better written? Like this is the type of writing that put me off of Manner of Death where things didn't feel quite rational, like the Sing and Gap and Doi stuff, or Doi in general going off the rails, or the random kidnapping in the hospital, and then Tin being in a coma for months and months until meeting in the clock tower on a random day. They wanted the last ep to be fast-paced and intense and that's fine but it wasn't as coherent as some of the earlier episodes.

Overall:

Great concept, mostly great execution (especially the first 3/4 like until ep 9 or 10), strong character building. Enjoyed unveiling more and more through each loop and seeing how situations and people changed through them.

Very commendable that despite it literally being time loops, the show didn't feel repetitive, they timed things well. I could've done with a little more romance but what little there was of them actually being together in like eps 9 - 10 were very cute.

I'd thought that they were the same age or similar ages for some reason but Tol is at least a few years younger than Tin and I liked that. Also omg in the last loop last few eps, I was thinking that wide-eyed, bumbling, eager, kind of naive Tol reminded me of Yeowoon from Love for Love's Sake after he softens up and turns out there's even an edit for it on tiktok lol so I'm correct.

This also makes me more excited for 4 Minutes and Spare Me Your Mercy, also Sammon novels because I found Manner of Death to be underwhelming and frustrating with how... stupid everybody was. This had more intelligent characters and I liked the plot better since it didn't fall into the "somehow a show about abuse women face but we only focus on male characters"

A Re-Introduction (A Timeline of Events)

Hello, I'm karma kazuya. I'm currently 17 and I'm a rapper and producer from Illinois. Other than a few one-off songs I made when I was in grade school and middle school, I first started making music in late 2021 during my sophomore year of high school. My first 6 songs were released on YouTube under the alias "Y2K Cherry Blossoms". They were a mixture of really weird instrumentals and some remixes of songs I liked. In January 2022, after I better familiarized myself with the music making process, I deleted those 6 songs, changed my alias to "moriko karma", and dropped a 3-track beat EP entitled "Submerged Sky", a mixtape called "fiji angel splash", and another EP called "midnight in marble meadow". After dropping a whole slew of beats, I started to dabble with the art of rapping. In February-March 2022, under the alias "low-poly karma", I dropped 3 rap singles and a freestyle mixtape. After that, I went back to strictly producing. I dropped around 30 beats, some remixes, and a couple beat EPs from March - August 2022. Then in late august 2022, I decided to focus on rapping. I deleted all the songs and music videos from my YouTube and SoundCloud and changed my alias again to "LOW-POLY KARMA" (this time styled in all caps). This was the beginning of a new era. The Based Era. I dropped my first based freestyle to SoundCloud and started work on my first REAL mixtape. After recording, mixing, and editing to the best of my ability, I finally finished my first mixtape. A rap tape called "TOKYO TRAPPIN". It dropped on September 1st, 2022 and was quickly followed up by a few rap EPs. In mid-September 2022, I got into contact with fellow up-and-coming rapper Sunshine Christo. I had already been listening to him since late 2021. We dropped 3 collab songs together and have another one that is unreleased in the vault. He was the first artist I had ever worked with. From there, I just kept honing my craft and experimenting with new sounds and styles. I dropped a boat load of rap tapes, EPs, and songs from September 2022 - May 2023. In mid-2023, I realized something very important. I noticed I wasn't getting anywhere. I never stuck with a certain sound long enough to master it nor did I keep my music up without deleting it long enough for people to find it and listen. I was stuck in a loop: drop something, delete it, try something new, repeat. I wasn't seeing any success. So on May 31st, 2023, I deleted all my old shit, changed my alias to "karma kazuya" and started fresh. I started putting more time and effort into my music. I started to only drop stuff I felt confident in. My first song under this new name was the track "smoking haze 蒸気". It was very reminiscent of that 2014 cloud rap, dark trap, spiritual era. My main inspirations were yung bruh, black kray, sad boys, and cold hart. This is the sound i stuck with. I've since been working to perfect this sound. I keep all my unpolished based freestyles and throwaway tracks for my lavenderlust music which is linked in the pinned post of my tumblr incase you want to check it out :)

I rewatched Avatar this year with my niece

I tried to show it to her when she was around 3 going on 4 but it was sorta lost on her so I didn't go beyond episode 2 (even have a video of it)

I showed it to her again (she didn't remember it) and she got hooked, wanting the next ep after next, and it made me really happy that I could sit down and watch something with her instead of her usual sparkle unicorn ponytail crap or the mini teen titans

so I rewatched Avatar for the, idk, 8th time??

I've mentioned it many times over the years on this blog, its in my top 4 shows of all time, I never get tired of it. I'd rewatch it again the second I finish in a heartbeat

and I felt this as a child when I watched it but my only criticism EVER of the show was the overuse of the goofy shit when it wasn't necessary. like sometimes it didn't fit the scene.

I've such a vivid memory of being in Florida, I was prob 12, and ep 4 was on, where Aang is swimming at Kyoshi island. he then has to run away from the monster and the animation was just sooo... idk. too comical. and I was embarrassed about that scene and didn't want my parents or brother to see it. I dont really know why??? prob cause I defended the show down to the bone, I didnt want anything stupid to be portrayed.

obviously dont care care about that now. but defo my only gripe with it.

however, for the first time since 2005, I found a second criticism!

ok. I think this is one of the most feminist shows to ever exist. I ADORE the female characters.

but I noticed something this time around, and its just the female characters.

both Katara and Azula, main girl and main villain girl, do noooot act 14. in fact, you can see snippets of a 14 year old, but bruh, they're wise beyond their damn years.

I think the writers, y'know, being older men, may have struggled with that. I think Mei, Ty Lee, Toph and Suki match their supposed ages age pretty well.

each guy matches theirs perfectly.

like I give way to Azula and believe in a sense that she's putting on an act for most of the show, and she's actually just a dramatic spoiled bratty teenager as shown by the end, but y'know.

and I know its well known that Katara is the "mom" of the group, but that girl is more mature at 14 than I was at 24, like dayum.

but anyway, still love her lmao its just something I noticed this time around. not in any way a big criticism

also while im on the topic of anime and stuff, is it just me or most of the anime that aired later than 2016-2017 are impossible too watch?

maybe im just old or something, but i felt so much from earlier animes, god. like, that's why khr is my favorite anime ever while it's cringe-y and dumb mostly, and because it's old the drawing style is a mess, especially in the first episodes, and i can do this nitpicking all day, ngl, but i LOVE it. i love how characters are alive, all of them. i love the world building. i love character design. it was one of the first anime i've ever watched and it sat such a high standard for every one of them that came after.

and don't get me wrong, there were great animes that came after, not as great, i am die hard khr fan, but very good ones.

and around 2017 they've just stopped?

i remember watching yuri on ice and ancient magus bride and so fucking enjoying them, i remember so many great anime from those times but if i have to remember more recent ones... eh.

given is a fucking masterpiece. as well as belle, though it's a more of a movie, than standard 12-eps. cyberpunk edgerunners was good i'd say, much better than the game obviously, but it had too much fan-service to my tastes. i really liked vanitas no carte but of course it was going to be great since the author is mochizuki jun and ive read the manga prior. there are probably some more honorable mentions (chainsawman, sorta), like i started blue lock recently, and it's seems okay from 3 eps i've watched but.

that's it.

most of the animes lost me in first episodes. like if i start watching something, it goes off rails pretty quickly for various reasons.

and that's so fucking sad.

and yeah, maybe I've just become way too picky or am unable to watch more than 2-3 episodes at a time or my tastes simply changed or all together but hell. it does not feel the same.

and i haven't even started on how apparently all shoujo/shoujo romance is fucking disappearing from this world. bruh.

just to be certain, it's my opinion and not something i think is the only way of thinking. just some thoughts.
