hey tumblr, thanks for recommending me a TERF post "based on my likes." I hope the hour I spent blocking as many people as I could bear in the notes is enough of a hint for you.
#i've seen some shit this morning y'all#like it was one of those posts that i initially agreed with but then alarm bells went off in my head at some of the phrasing#the post was about how 2-year-olds and 3-year-olds don't have a concept of gender yet because they're too little#followed by 'amazing it's almost like telling kids what boys and girls are will help them understand'#so i checked the notes and it was rampant with terfs#the main post was never tagged as anything though someone just posted a twitter screenshot#i need to find the terf tags post thing cuz i didnt have time to block before but i guess i do now#now i'm paranoid about how much of my stuff has been this shit and i never realized#anyway be careful guys it's fucking BAD out here#dimond speaks#tw transphobia#tw transphobes#and like i agree- 2 and 3 are too young for this stuff since the gender binary is so fucking strong#of course girls can play with dinosaurs if they want that doesn't make them boys#but kinds will understand that the more experience and knowledge they gain of the world around them#they barely know they're sentient yet of course they're gonna get confused#but once they DO get a better handle on what gender is then some of them are gonna realize that being a boy was the right answer all along#you cannot make that judgement for them#and also like no harm no fowl if they DO think they're trans for a while? like what's wrong with that??#this shit is complex as fuck and i do not expect a 3-year-old to get it okay?#took me til i was about 15 to even know trans people existed at all and a couple more months to realize i was one too#and i'm fucking dumb like i'm not a good metric to go off of#but even if 3-year-olds aren't going to understand that's where you as the parent have to help them understand it#but little by little#like as teenagers and adults we can just look something up and tada! there's the answer!#kids can't do that yet they DO need parents to help them#those parents just also have to be aware of how they're teaching their kids#there's a difference between 'girls like pink and boys like blue' and 'and your age it literally doesn't matter but girls like she/her'#and that was a terrible example but i'm not a parent so#you figure it out

So I've had some thoughts and I don't actually believe that males aren't attracted to women over 25, they absolutely can't even tell a 40yo from a 25yo woman, they made it clear they're only attracted to visual features and they don't even know what age they're looking at. But they are still absolutely obsessed with youth and repeatedly attempt to mingle with female teenagers and try to find a partner who is in the age brackets from 14-21. I do believe a lot of these males are pedophiles, or have converted themselves into pedophiles, but also the end goal of pedophiles and other males is the same: to find a girl/woman with no background knowledge or previous experience.
Even if a 18 year old woman looks exactly like a 25 year old woman, they'll go for the 18 year old, not because she's more attractive or 'fertile', it's simply because they can have that much more power and influence over her. They can tell her anything about life and she wouldn't know the difference, wouldn't know she's being lied to. She hasn't yet had the experience of tolerating male nonsense to the point of breaking, hasn't seen trough their schemes and grooming process, she doesn't know their true intentions, she doesn't have her finances/career/living situation in order, she is more vulnerable, more naive, more easy to exploit. She's still filled with hope and optimism, inclined to believe the best of them, to give them benefit of the doubt, to forgive and tolerate and do whatever she's told to, in order to gain their approval.
25 year old woman will not do this so easily, she's probably had enough experience with the world and the m*n to see the red flags instantly. The 40 year old woman, who looks exactly as attractive, will not even spare him the second glance, he's nothing to her, she knows his value is null.
I don't think it's youth, appearance, or any other kind of 'biological impulse' that makes m*n go after younger women, it's just the amount of power they're able to have over younger women. The idea of a woman who knows who they are and what they stand for is intensely non-attractive to them, a woman who understands their core and knows their intentions, that is a complete no-go, they'd rather throw insults at her and make sure she can't communicate her knowledge to the younger generations.
But a younger woman who is still under the effects of patriarchal grooming, who is easy to convince, manipulate, trick, cheat, who is without any defenses, naive, gullible, that's where their attraction is amplified. If the situation suddenly switched and all of the younger women had the exact experience and power of mature women, while mature women were under some kind of amnesia and thought m*n were cool, and were willing to do whatever for them, the attraction would flip just like that. M*n really can't do well anywhere except among children who are fawning over them, not knowing what they're looking at.
Being young and without experience makes a woman so much less likely to be able to defend herself against abuse, so much more easily pulled into doing things against her own benefit, much more easily obliged with a promise of a fake future that will never happen. And they all know they're pulling those young women into relationships/partnerships under fake pretenses, that they're just going to use these young women, until they age up to the point where they're sick of his bullshit, and then find new, younger, more inexperienced, more easy to manipulate girls.
What I'm saying is that their attraction grows only with girls and women's inability to truly consent to what they're going to do to her. If those young women knew where the situation was going, they would never say yes to it, and m*n all know it.

i’ve had this post in the drafts for like two months but with the release of poor things on hulu has come an uptick in really really bad poor things takes so here I am clocking in for the poor things discourse!!
while art is obviously subjective and can be interpreted like literally however you want blah blah blah etc. etc., I think a lot of the criticisms of poor things are pretty surface level and in the name of like performative anger and not genuine criticisms. will be addressing and commenting on the two biggest criticisms I’ve seen:
1. poor things portrays the born sexy yesterday trope
ultimately I think the film does enough to subvert the trope, and actually utilizes the trope as a vehicle to subvert it. what I think poor things is really doing is critiquing and commenting on how men seek out infantile and docile women as a means to exert control and assert their own self importance. these men then become disillusioned when said women gain intelligence, perspective, and experiences that don’t center them.
godwin, max, and duncan all sought to control bella in some way. they sexualize her, view her as an object, property, and an experiment. at the beginning of the movie, prior to bella leaving god’s house and exploring, we do get a bit of the traditional born sexy yesterday trope. but bella being who she is, she wanted more and she wanted to explore the world, grow, etc. this fundamentally changed the way these men interacted with her, and they were no longer infatuated by her innocence and curiosity, but saw her as threatening and something they needed to reign in and control.
first, when bella asks to leave the house and see the world, she is met with pushback from both godwin and max. when bella expresses her frustration, godwin fucking chloroforms her to get her to stop talking and fighting him. this pattern continues until bella leaves.
we saw this to an extreme with duncan. he noticed that bella was gaining intelligence and perspective, was threatened, and resorted to locking her in a trunk and literally fucking kidnapping her as an attempt to regain control. but after that, she continues to learn and grow. she meets new people who introduce her to philosophy and reading and intelligent conversation. this essentially brings duncan to his breaking point and he begins to mentally deteriorate.
2. all the sex was super gross bc bella developmentally had not yet reached the age of consent
people not grasping that bella having sex with all these men is SUPPOSED to make us uncomfortable is baffling. the depiction of this kind of relationship cannot be equated with endorsement. I actually think it was important that the audience know that at the beginning of the movie that bella had the brain of a child because it allows us to see how much duncan takes advantage of her. it also just further hammers home the critique of men preferring underdeveloped infantile women they can control, rather than independent intelligent women who challenge them.
I don’t necessarily have any problem with the movie depicting that bella enjoys having sex. discovering sexuality it is an ordinary part of adolescence (when she first starts masturbating I’m assuming she was like 12-14 developmentally) and ultimately what makes the lisbon scenes with her and duncan so uncomfortable is that we know that he knows he’s taking advantage of her. I do think it was intended to be uncomfortable for the audience to watch. she does not have the knowledge and understanding to know that the dynamic between her and duncan is very very bad, but she gets there eventually. I can’t fault her for in the moment not realizing what was happening to her.
but this is where my personal criticisms come in — once bella does learn how these men took advantage of her she does not fight back against them like I wanted her to. she isn’t outraged, she doesn’t tell them how violated she feels. duncan does get his comeuppance (which was hilariously played by mark ruffalo) but I think that max and godwin got off too easy. especially max who agreed to marry her when developmentally she was a child. I just don’t think she should have been so quick to forgive them.
I also just want to take a moment to discuss the common critique that “it’s so obvious this movie was made by a man like duh this is how men perceive what female empowerment is” etc. etc. this was actually addressed by emma stone in a conversation she had w olivia coleman — emma was a producer on the film and really feels like people are taking away her agency in deciding how to tell this story. she was an integral part in the production of the film, no one was demanding her to portray bella in a certain way, and ultimately what we see on screen is a product of her involvement in the filmmaking process. by reducing this to being a movie about how men perceive women you are completely removing and invalidating the women that actually had a say in how this story was told.
tldr; idk like obviously you can think whatever you want about it, but just don’t mistake depiction for endorsement and understand that sometimes the point of the movie is to make you feel uncomfortable. stories and narratives in fiction are complicated bc people are complicated!!!! we are messy and difficult and exploring certain topics in a fictionalized world allows us to better understand the world we live in. sanitizing ourselves of engaging with this kind of material will only hurt our ability to analyze and form opinions about contentious areas of life.

There seems to be some discourse lately about content, the kind of content, and the community as a whole. Now, the last thing I want to do is stir up anything, but I had some thoughts that I'd like to type out, and I appreciate whomever decides to read it.
The purpose of this band is to make us happy. You've heard it time and time again, as long as we go home at the end of that show feeling just a little better, then TF is satisfied. And it seems like lately that happiness is hard to achieve here, on twitter, or wherever else one is active.
On Headcanon
Were you sitting at work today? Home? And suddenly that thought popped into your head, a little scene playing out about Copia, or Terzo, or Secondo, or Primo. A thought that filled you with excitement, butterflies dancing in your belly, which had you smiling because yes, in the world that makes you happy, that is what they are like. That is what they do. That is what they say. It's an amazing thing and it's good and okay, and you should be excited about it. Because you just added another chapter to the amazing story in your head. And you decide to post about it, but...someone left you an anon. Someone left you a comment. Someone vague posted. And it hurt.
This is happening far too often across tumblr, and it needs to come to a close. I understand that we all have vastly different ideas of who the Papas are and how the Ministry works, but that does not give a single one of you an excuse to say anything untoward or foul to anyone else on this platform. And this isn't talking about any particular group because more often than not, posts like this are used to justify the actions of others. You do not have permission to use this to further your agenda. Be kind. Choose to ignore that fic. Choose to stay off that person's blog. Stop making posts at the expense of others just because you don't like a particular aspect of their world.
I promise you'll still be able to sleep at night.
On F! Reader and x Reader Fic
I have seen many posts since I joined tumblr to write for the Ghost fandom that express a dislike toward reader fics, and in particular f! reader fics. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd like to just reflect on my own thoughts on the matter, and once again, I appreciate the time taken to read and perhaps understand where I'm coming from, and know that it is a place of care.
I am a woman. When I write fic, I am writing it to satisfy my own little world in my head. So naturally, I am going to make the reader female, because the universal you is not only the friends I share it with or those kind enough to read, but the you is me. Every sweet word whispered, or gentle touch from a Papa is something I wish would happen to me.
I do not have the right to invade someone else's perspective. I do not understand what it is to be a gay man. I do not understand what a trans person experiences every day, and therefore, I do not feel like it is my place to write these perspectives in an x reader fic, or more so than that, in smut. And otherwise, I'm just not comfortable in doing so. I know my experience, and isn't the first step of writing, writing what you know?
I want there to be inclusivity in writing, but that doesn't start with attacking other authors for writing from their own perspective. It doesn't start with making hostile posts about reader fics, because what's the outcome? You just end up with some people very hurt and unwilling to post their stories because they think it's unwanted.
If you feel comfortable exploring these topics, talk to your mutuals. Say hey, what can I do to gain a better understanding of the content that I'm writing? What can I do to ensure that I'm not fetishizing due to my lack of knowledge? Be a community, and help each other out.
On Notes and Reblogs
A note is not the value of your writing. Whether you receive just a few or hundreds, you have impacted someone. Someone loved your story. Someone is thinking about your story all day. Someone was able to make it through because that one thing line you wrote spoke volumes to them.
We put so much of our energy into worrying about notes that the reason we started writing in the first place is lost. It becomes a chore. There are a hundred WIPs sitting in our folders because it becomes so goddamn painful just to work on one.
No one owes you a reblog. No one owes you a like. And even though it's nice, and it's gratifying to see nice comments on something you worked hard on, notes cannot be used as a currency between followers or mutuals. It just becomes a poison. Your entire tumblr experience is going to be marred by the constant worry that you aren't good enough just based on a number.
Learn to appreciate the ones who do read. Allow your story to make you feel good because there it is! That thing you've been thinking about. It's written down. You brought it to life. That is far more valuable than a tumblr note.
If you've reached this point, thank you. Everything you're feeling is good, and okay, and we're gonna get through. Because even now? When it feels like things are more hostile than happy? You still have Ghost. And you still have everything.

Oh god I would love to hear you go off about homeschooling
Oh absolutely.
So okay: the public education system is deeply, deeply flawed. Most notably, in the US anyway (which is what all of this is gonna be- that's what the material for my degree was on) our education system was built up from two primary sources:
1. Schools for rich white boys to learn how to continue their legacy of being rich white boys (rich white girls were added much later)
2. Boarding schools and attempts to convert Native children to Christianity, erase their cultures, and replace them with white Western culture- all using incredible amounts of truly horrific, unspeakable violence.
The remnants of both of these systems still exist today, though there are more steps between them now: #1 exists in wealthy upper-class schools with a high level of gatekeeping, and #2 exists in impoverished and underfunded schools with mostly students of color.
#1 schools tend to also have a really positive impact on kids; their teachers believe in and respect them, resulting in both a higher level of academic success, and a higher level of self confidence and ambition. They believe they can do anything- so they can!
#2 schools have the inverse effect; teachers resent their students and view them as burdens, or charges to keep in line and shuffle through to the end with minimal trouble. Their students are, as a result, demoralized and unmotivated. They don't believe they are capable of anything, and so they struggle and often fail.
The steps between the two are lower-class, middle-class, & upper-middle-class schools, which make up a kind of scale- the lower class schools tend to have lower ambition and achievement, but also lower ego. There's a sweet spot- kind of- somewhere just below the wealthy schools, where students are highly motivated, but still a little humble.
You can see how people might be having different experiences with the education system, even in the same country.
People coming from low income backgrounds understandably, even rightfully, really resent the education system. People coming from anything above that might see things a little more favorably, though- that's not because anyone is stupid or self centered or wrong, it's because those experiences are intrinsically very, very different, and that's not really their fault for falling into one kind of school over another.
So okay, the public education system is flawed; but we can also see that there is a sweet spot. What we need is to figure out how to get there, normalize it, and bring that positive and healthy experience to as many kids as we can.
There are also certain undeniable benefits to a standardized public education system: ideally, children with abusive families are given a space away from the violence they face at home. They are given connections to trusted adults, mentors, peers, and experiences & knowledge their abusive families cannot control. They are given access to help, and access to power. (This isn't up for debate; rates of child abuse rose dramatically when schools closed during the pandemic because it removed a vital line of defense).
In a perfect world, the public education system is a really, really good way to facilitate communal raising of children; and who better to participate in that than people who are trained and educated and devoted to doing it in the best way possible?
There's obviously a lot of ways this can go wrong: teachers can seek those positions out for the power they might gain, people can weigh in on or control the curriculum who should not have that control, etc.
But these are also problems with homeschool. Parents might choose to homeschool their child because they want more complete control over them; they might put their child into a religious "homeschool" system designed to brainwash kids into blind devotion to a harmful ideology; they might find creationist schools or schools that otherwise align more perfectly with their beliefs, and with nothing to challenge that or help them develop critical thinking skills, kids are less likely to ever question or grow beyond what they absorb in homeschool.
Sometimes homeschool works out- and sometimes it doesn't.
But the thing with homeschool for me, at least, is this: there is a severe lack of accountability. There is nobody else to ensure those children are being treated properly. There is no standardization of curriculum, no training, and no education on best methods to educate- not just on facts, but to teach kids to think for themselves, question authority, and be capable of independent thought and action.
If a teacher in a public school abuses a child, there are people nearby more likely to notice and defend the child (and, legally, they are obligated to in a way even police are not). If a homeschool teacher abuses a child, nobody knows about it.
That's why Christian conservatives are such big proponents for decreased public school and increased homeschooling & private schools. Money or they themselves control those institutions, and they want that power and control. In many ways, they need it.
Tne public education system is a direct threat to their political and social power. That is why we need to fix it- to make it a more effective weapon against fascism and abuse.

Senshi, Laios and Dunmeshi Episode 4
When I first read through DunMeshi, a lot of themes, ideas, and characterization flew over my head as I wasn't really sure what to make of it. What was it really going for? That was what I was trying to figure out going into it. Like some sort of narrative detective, I tried to piece together all the puzzle parts but the meaning of it escaped me. And probably for the better because that's kind of the point of Dungeon Meshi. The genius structure that winds through every narrative crack of the story is that it's about understanding. Through the worldbuilding that slowly reveals clues to the walls around the main characters hearts that slowly crumble away, to almost every single way the story is told, Dungeon Meshi works around this core act of understanding. Understanding through knowledge and experience. So, when I watch it now, every single part makes sense holistically. Through that final understanding of the story, each small piece gains more meaning. Dungeon Meshi gains so much from a repeated experience.
So that's why the character I was the most confused by when I read it, now makes so much sense to me that I'm experiencing it a second time through the anime. I'll keep the spoilers for people who've finished the manga below the cut in case any anime watchers stumble across this, but the gist is this: Senshi entering the story and the group makes him into a nearly complete and static character that symbolizes the really important theme of staying true to yourself. Specifically this idea that by staying true to yourself, you will find your place in the world. Senshi, by most others standards in the Dunmeshi world, is someone out of step with common and polite society. Someone that doesn't belong. And yet, by staying true to his ideals, he becomes an essential part of the dungeons ecosystem. He makes his own place in the world. And in connection with that central pillar of Understanding, he does it through understanding the dungeon and the world he lives in and also understanding and accepting himself.
Now if you've read the manga, maybe those idea's have some of your neurons firing, so I'll see y'all after the cut.
So, yeah, if you've finished the manga you probably understand what I'm getting at. And what this episode makes clear. Senshi is basically what Laios strives to be. Free and having found his place in the world. Hell, Senshi even plants the seed that pays off with the stories last few chapters in which Laios becomes the ruler of the Dungeon.
Just as Senshi is out of step with the world, so is Laios, except before Falin's death, though it did drive him to chase his freedom, he didn't reveal it to anyone. That system shock of losing his sister as well as meeting someone essentially living the life he so desires points him to that idea of finding his place by being himself. Which he does. By being himself, he conquers the dungeon and becomes an essential part of the world. By being free, understanding himself and the world around him, and very importantly, accepting all of that, he becomes the ruler of the dungeon.
And while Senshi is an incredibly developed character that has to grow very little compared to the others, his most important act of growth actually comes in the first instance we see him. His trauma has caused him to shut himself away from other and in that first act of reaching out to the party he basically completes the most important stage of his devlopment, though we don't know that until much later on. It's that acceptance of others, another part of understanding the world you wish to find your place in, that Senshi fully realizes his best self.
I'm honestly slackjawed in awe at how amazing the structure of DunMeshi is. Through that final chapter, we gain this understanding of the series that recontextualizes the whole thing, which of course isn't a new idea to storytelling, but the the way it feeds into that central theme and idea of Understanding is just breathtaking. Maybe by the time the first season wraps I'll find better words to describe it but I really hope that idea makes sense. It's basically like the theme escaping out of the story and becoming a part of the active reconsumption of the story. It's so cool.

First Ninja can easily defeat Chase during Heylin Eclipse. If he finds out about this phenomenon, will he take advantage of the opportunity?
Well, perhaps not easily, but his chances of winning certainly rocket from 15-25% to like, 75-85%!
The thing is, we do not know many details about Heylin Eclipse, the only sure thing is that Chase seems to be unable to use magic freely (but he still can participate in showdowns and use Wu, which imo require some?? sort of minimal magical capacity) and transform into his dragon/lizard form. It also seems that the same magic usually assists Chase in being/reacting faster, since he is easily caught by Wuya (but she is also weakened?? so). Does it just takes away that buff he acquired since becoming Heylin or is the Eclipse actively nerfing him (making him sluggish)?
However, just as Chase himself said, despite lack/suppression of Heylin magic, he is not helpless - he has strategy and experience on his side and not to mention probably 100 tricks up his sleeve AND its one of the rare instances his motto of 'using Wu as a crutch' is nowhere to be seen, because he literally had Serpent's Tail hidden in his gauntlet! (talk about aces in sleeves huh!)
(I kind of wish there was a bit more of that smart and experienced Chase in the episode, instead of what happened.)
So that's mostly the reason why I think First won't get a win too easily. But of course the main question is would he even use that opportunity? TBH I don't think he will go out of his way to do it.
(kinda radnom babbling on under cut, u can ignore it, the point of anwer was said xD)
In my mind, after First VS Chase event, First is too busy doing his stuff to actively worry about Chase. I mean, this guy still has a Sorcerer locked under his town attracting/causing chaos and monsters, and a Ninjanomicon to write and to prepare the future generations to keep Sorcerer locked and Norrisville safe, and probably other dozen things he has to worry about (and unlike Chase, First got only this mortal life and time to deal with it all, lol).
And while, sure, while Chase is a menace and a threat to any capable warrior, Chase also has been around for so long: he has clearly established his place in Hierarchy of Dark forces loooooong before Ninja came around. And yet while participating in wars and causing trouble, he is yet to be the supreme overlord of the world or whatever, so?? Chase kinda leads an existence of eternal evil final boss, doing his evil things and what not. Mostly he is too busy collecting cool warriors, like pokemons or trader cards or whatever.
I feel like in some sense First would understand the whole 'letting evil exist for the sake of the world balance' thing. Because like the XS last episodes established - Chase's existence is a sort of necessary evil that keeps balance from being upset too much on either side. Selfish and Cruel enough to be evil, but also Reasonable and Honorable enough to be sorta neutral good...-ish? I guess the right alignment would Lawful Evil? Though it doesnt really fit completely right, but it somewhere in that ballpark.
(On a side note, IMO about the Sorcerer - he is pretty much clear is not necessarily just Evil, he is more of Chaotic Evil. And Chaos is sort of also neutral, in a sense?? I mean Sorcerer was running around turning people into monsters, causing havoc across continents to gain power to... I dunno, be unstoppable? Cause more chaos and pain? Destroy everything?? Perhaps his goal was to make the World be like Chaos Realm/Land of Shadows? Who knows??? His motivation is as mysterious as his defeat in the finale, lol. But his deal feels more like those World-ending Spiders That Eat from XS, because it seems to me, he basically just gained more power for sake of more Chaos, not like... rule the world or something.)
Also while Chase is bugging First, he is kinda... not actively doing world-ending evil stuff to First's knowledge?
It's like... bothering First is distracting him from doing other evil stuff (he still probably has some schemes going on, but like in the background, not related to First), so First is like 'I could waste energy and effort to put an end to his reign of terror...but i guess i can let him bother me if it stops him from actively doing evil, just for a bit ' (but Chase is certainly doing evil, just nowhere First can see lol).
But, let's suppose First does figure out about Heylin Eclipse. For it to be of any use to First, it has to happen soon and in his lifetime, when he is still physically capable to take on Chase. He also got to plan out how he would defeat Chase (kill or capture him, how to do it and etc.). AND he also got to plan it around his duties to Norrisville. So like, if by incredible stroke of luck, all of it aligns? First might attempt it and most likely win!
But i feel if, it would take much longer (like say 30+ years) for Eclipse to arrive, First would not prioritize capturing Chase over his duties in Norrisville. This dude already wasted most of his life to defeat the Sorcerer (and like a bajillion creatures and monsters to do it), AND he is gonna waste his afterlife to keep him locked up too, just let the poor man rest! xD
(There is now an image in my head of First looking at Chase and going 'Not My Problem' and just peacing out of there.)
So, yeah, while I'm sure First can defeat Chase during Heylin Eclipse, Im not so sure he would actively dedicate himself to doing it.
On ANOTHER, much more shippy note (that u can ignore if its not ur thing), there is something very delicious in the idea that First, knowing such a blatant weakness of Chase's, and just doesn't do anything about it. Perhaps it's because, in some way, First prefers to fight Chase in full power, a much honorable battle no matter if it ends in defeat or victory. Or because it feels like such underhanded tactic of striking when his opponent is at their weakest. Maybe it feels this way because, they are enemies in name only because of their moral alignments, not because either of them actually hate each other (that much lol).
Ooooo just imagine, First and Chase confrontation during Eclipse, Chase fully expecting First to take the opportunity (because its what he will do), but First does the unexpected, and instead of ending the fight, he steps back and that stops Chase on his tracks. And somehow they end up waiting out the Eclipse together, First keeping an eye out for his weakened enemy, while Chase, despite all his previous flirting and needling, is geniuenly baffled by First's behaviour. He really did expect First to take the chance, after all the annoyance and bothering, and just generally First being exasparated with him. But here they are, with Chase at his weakest and First watching his back.... Trully strange.
*eyebrow wiggle*
but thats just silly shippy thoughts haha. I do feel like First will 100% use that opportunity to whoop Chase's ass just to vent all the frustrations about the trouble and annoyances Chase caused.
anyway ye sorry for rambling ;D

The Knowledge of your Rising sign (Pt. 1)
You'll need your birth time to find your rising sign, which can be done online. Disclaimer: this analysis is whole sign, archetypal and based on what I've personally seen---take what resonates ;)
Both Sagittarius and Aquarius represent knowledge. Sagittarius represents the knowledge expressed as one's own opinion---this knowledge is important in fields like social science or politics. Aquarius, along with Virgo, represents developing a precautious balance between everyone's perspectives. But while Virgo's an objective learner, Aquarius has objective knowledge (more on the Virgo-Aquarius connection in my article "The Sixth Aspect"). Aquarius represents knowledge expressed through objective awareness---this is more important in fields that center innovation. In this part we'll talk about Aquarian knowledge, or objective awareness.
Aquarius is traditionally ruled by Saturn. Saturn is a fearful planet--it represents being ready for the external. Saturn's knowledge is the awareness and responsibility that comes with age and experience, and the wisdom that emerges from hardship. Saturn's knowledge ultimately gives it fear. Fear is about being prepared for anything. Practical Capricorn prepares for anything by planning for the material reality of future scarcity. Intellectual Aquarius, on the other hand, prepares for anything by collecting every perspective and determining through experimentation the path that is most efficient. Empirical objectivity and innovation results from Saturn's fear of leaving possibilities unconsidered. Tying in the idea that Aquarius is co-ruled by Uranus, you end up somewhere around the trope of a "genius" or "mad scientist" who anxiously operates on the edge of out-of-this-world innovation.
Aquarian knowledge is rational and empirical; is a conclusion based on perspectives collected.
Having an objective understanding gives you the ground to experiment and innovate a new more efficient way of doing things

A snippet from my WIP (so please ignore any mistakes for the moment 🙃) for the @omegaharryfest
Since before Harry even began his degree in architecture, his sights were set on working for one place in particular—LT Designs. The company was renowned for unique, stylish and boundary pushing constructions. Well established and prominent in the industry for more than thirty years. With the original owner building it up from nothing, to the business that now, according to ‘Architectural Review,’ was redefining what it meant to be an architect. That the firm wasn’t creating spaces; it was crafting art.
Harry had to be a part of that. It was non-negotiable.
So when he had finally finished his degree, he’d applied straight away. Because of course, why wouldn’t he?
And he’d been denied. Twice.
In the end, he had been told it came down to his lack of experience. That the firm wasn’t interested in hiring fresh graduates, and that he should return with a functional portfolio and further industry knowledge in a few years.
God, how he had gone on a tangent about that specific tidbit to Liam for hours on end. Because how was he meant to gain industry experience, when the industry didn’t want him?
As undeterred as ever though, he had waited, patiently— for six months. When an opening to work in an administrative role for one of the higher executives at the firm had come up, he’d jumped at it. His degree made him overqualified for the position, yes, but it also gave him insider knowledge and a greater understanding of the business. After three months and five interviews, he secured the job.
To Harry, it was a foot in the door— a stepping stone to gaining the experience he needed. If nothing else, he hoped to build connections. After all, it’s not “what you know” but “who you know.”
Isn’t it?
There was only one other issue— an inconspicuous elephant in the room if you will; Harry was an omega.
He’d considered the idea that maybe his initial rejections had not been because of his lack of experience, but instead, linked to his second gender. Harry was all too aware of how omegas were viewed in the world, even now. “It’s twenty-twenty-four,” Liam had asserted, “No one cares about that stuff anymore.” Harry had only been able to roll his eyes at the naive optimism, of course an alpha would believe that. For Liam, the world was an open field of endless possibilities, he could be, do and enjoy, whatever he wanted. While Harry had to claw and fight just to have a seat at the table.
Despite the everpressing social biases, Harry never let being an omega hold him back. When he’d presented, he hadn’t been disappointed, in fact he had embraced his omega status. Harry witnessed his omega mother raise him and his sister alone, he watched her fight through touch deprivation, observed her defiance against stereotypes, and saw her struggle to put food on the table. Yet, through it all, she remained soft, nurturing and effortlessly kind to both him and Gemma. To Harry, that was the embodiment of real strength. His mother had looked adversity in the eye and hadn’t allowed it to harden or break her; she moved with it, like a flower in the breeze— always returning to its original beauty after the storm passes.
So no, he wasn’t afraid that his omega status would hinder him, because if it did, he was ready to face it head-on, just like his mother had. He would stand resilient, and he would have a seat at the table, regardless of whatever obstacle stood in his way.
He could be strong like her. He would be.
Right?

okay here's a backstory dump for this fatui!kaveh... fucked up au idea. i've got like... an animatic planned because i'm in desperate need of refreshing those skills, but there won't be like a linear ongoing comic like my other projects.
'potentially a fanfiction? maybe? but 'potentially a fanfiction? maybe? but there will probably be like. drawings of key moments.
TL;DR
everything is the same up until the night they meet at the bar, kaveh does not go with alhaitham. either alhaitham bungles the proposal, or kaveh is simply too proud to accept the help being offered and views it as an admission that he should be living selfishly.
instead, after a dream conversation with nahida, he becomes involved in the very early stages of planning for the sabzeruz festival.... and is killed, both as a warning to alhaitham to learn his place, and as a lesson to those of sumeru who wish to worship lesser lord kusanali so openly.
ill dottore revives him as part of his experiments with the akasha terminals. this is a success, and kaveh retains little to no memory of his life in sumeru. he is given a new name and a new purpose - yahya of the fatui, sworn to serve the tsaritsa and her goals. he re-enters the story at the same point, after the crisis in sumeru has ended. he remains behind as the eyes and ears of the doctor and one of the only holders of a functioning akasha terminal.
LONG VERSION OF HISTORY AND BACKSTORY:
that night at the bar, at his very lowest, kaveh refuses the invitation to stay in alhaitham's home. it feels too much like giving up. too much like accepting that he was wrong, that his beliefs are wrong - not the way he went about enacting them. to accept the invitation feels like co-signing onto alhaitham's view of the world as he understands it, and that is so grim and bleak he declares he would rather die than live in a world where people live only for themselves.
he has no idea how prophetic the words are to be.
that night, camping in the wilderness, lesser lord kusanali meets kaveh in his dreams. he does not recall most of the dream, only that she is a warm and comforting presence. everything he believes knowledge should be. a light in the dark, the tools to give the suffering some sense of peace. the people of sumeru are lost, he declares, and the akasha terminals have ruined their capacity to think for themselves. to see the world beyond puzzles that must be solved, and people are hurdles rather than assets.
and when he wakes, he no longer feels as aimless. there is a path forward that he sees all too clearly, and all he grown tired of in sumeru is the akademiya and it's overreach.
the efforts to revive the sabzeruz festival gain much more traction when the light of kshahrewar himself joins in. the actual festival is months away, but the fact that it being planned - that a famous scholar has joined in on the efforts - immediately gets traction.
people who hadn't previously seen kaveh's vision now see it at his hip, and rumors start to spread. he has been chosen by lesser lord kusanali to bring them into a new age of wisdom. kaveh had never minded the whispers of others much, as the only expectations he had ever worried about failing were his own and his client's - but if he'd heeded those warnings, he may have been better prepared for what happened.
when word came from the akademiya that his proposal had been approved, he has confused. what proposal? he had been funding this work on his own and with the aid of the desert folk - who were more eager to assist an endeavor for kusanali if her people were kinder than that of rukkadevata. still, he goes to the meeting place that the head of his darshan asks. they have a pleasant dinner, a few drinks - the taste of which is off - and kaveh grows concerned that questions about his supposed proposal are dodged.
they walk the docks of port ormos afterwards, though kaveh insists that he is not feeling well after that meal and wants to go home. thjat kind nature is taken advantage of, as the man says he wishes to discuss something important. he has been carrying a heavy weight and wishes to share it.
they stop short and stare at the water, and the man laments that kaveh has thrown away a bright future in pursuit of fruitless dreams. he was always a dreamer, that's what made his work stand out, but he does not care for or respect the spirit of knowledge. it brings him no joy to do this to the most promising alumni in centuries.
what he says is truly upsetting is that in the end, kaveh hadn't even earned this through his own merits. it had been his friendship with the scribe that sealed his fate. he would be a message to all.
there's no room for elaboration. kaveh can't even process what he's being told, uncertain if alhaitham ordered this or - if this is meant ot harm him.
regardless, there in the docks on a dark summer night, kaveh meets his end.
he flings mehrak as far from himself as he can once it takes too much damage to pull his sword free. they deliver death unto him brutally, and staged to look like angry debt collectors. and as he lay dying, the doctor steps from the shadows and asks if they have any further use for him once the message has been sent.
he's found in the morning, laying haphazardly on the shores. a dumped body that resurfaced. those lovely hands smashed and broken.
the details of the architect's ruined financials filter out, that he was less a light and more a bringer of ruin. it looks cut and dry. a debt collector had come to collect.
rumors of non-existent fundraisers slip into the conversation, leaving people to assume him nothing more than a charlatan and a fraud. destroying the budding reputation that the festival had.
before an autopsy can be performed, the body goes missing. those dedicated to recreating the sabzeru festival do not give up, and they are determined to see it through. not believing for a second that kaveh was taking them for a ride, and determined to not let his death be in vain.
elsewhere, the doctor carries on with his work.
a broken bird of paradise awakens in his laboratory. the glittering green vision resting atop his chest no longer gives off a glow, but the light at his temple does. this akashic terminal glows with the blue of cryo. all the information that could possibly exist within it has been downloaded into his mind, most of it partitioned away so it doe snot overwhelm him. this process, and the modifications to the terminal itself, makes up for the parts of his brain too damaged to continue to function on their own. the terminal regulates the processes his body should know how to do, allowing him to breathe, his heart to beat, his body to move when he wants it.
the drug slipped into his drink done a decent job of keeping him in a death-like state without actually crossing that threshold into death, but the damage was extensive. recovery, too, would be a nightmare. impossible were it not for this little gift.
when the bird is finally well enough to take wing, Il Dottore bestows upon it a new name, yahya and the codename uccello del paradiso. and with this name, a new mission - to serve the tsaritsa and burn away the world.
yahya does not know what happened to him, only that the cruelty of the existing world is what caused his suffering. he knows that he would have died, were it not for Il Dottore intervention. he is grateful to have been saved, though he remembers so little about his life before he feels he may as well be a new being.
his hands are strong enough to hold a sword, but the fine motor control necessary to write or paint has been lost due to a mixture of the damage to his mind and hands. he is still deceptively strong despite that willowy frame. even more so than before, as the modifications to his body and brain allow him to use more strength than what a normal person should be capable of without harming themselves.
his mind is sharp as ever, and the modifications to the akashic terminal allow him to more directly interface with ancient technology. most of his work has been in the investigation of king deshret's ruins and the so-called 'forbidden knowledge'.
he is most often seen in a modified version of a fatui agent's outfit, though the colors mirror that of ill dottore's harbinger uniform. he is also most often seen with a mask, meant to cover up the altered color of his akashic terminal and to hide his face from any who would recognize it in these lands. though there is light scarring across his face, he still looks like himself... though his eyes have changed. they're flat and lifeless.
the most concerning feature of his new existence is that at any point, his eyes can be looked through. his ears lsistened through. his voice used to say another's words. his autonomy hijacked and used used for the fatui's goal's. and he won't remember anything about it.
i'm still working out where this goes from here.
alhaitham and fatui!kaveh (yahya from here on out) have some encounters where they come to blows. yahya just seems to have it out for him and alhaitham has no earthly idea who this could be, but he pisses so many people off in the run of a day he doesn't pay much mind to it.
alhaitham definitely gets mehrak working in the aftermath of everything and hears the conversation with the doctor because mehrak recorded it, so he knows that the man has kaveh's body. but he assumes its just the body and he's disgusted at the idea that kaveh's corpse is being used for cruel experiments, and he just wants to get it back to give kaveh peace.
it isn't until he speaks with wanderer that he finds out that the experiments were a success and kaveh is alive.
WHAT IS FATUI!KAVEH LIKE?
yahya is still kind at heart, though no longer the sort of person who burns himself alive just to warm others for a second. he is still compassionate to the deserving, but far more willing to lash out at those who throw their weight around to punish the unworthy. in many ways, he is the version of himself alhaitham wanted him to be. he priortizes himself and his safety above all others, though that leaves a coldness to him that is difficult to ignore and hard to witness to those who knew him before.
he is far more quick to violence. pacifism obviously did him no good in the past. and what good is doing good if the evil are still there to reap it's benefits? there is a greedier, hungier edge to him - all to fill the void of loneliness and grief for a life that was robbed of him. yahya can't remember anything about who or what he was. he was told that he was killed for debts owed, and that he should blame the gods for it. as if the god he so loved had helped him, this could have been avoided. thanks to the modifications to the akasha terminal keeping him alive, nahida can't even enter his mind to set the record straight.
he can't pursue the softer things that brought him joy due to the damage he sustained before his death and revival. he collects mora as some holdover of the stress he used to have around it, though he has little to spend it on. nothing really sparks that joy and passion beyond the idea of creating, and he finds his new limitations too frustrating to deal with to pursue that.
while he is far from hostile to most people, he holds little love for sumeru. what he can recall - the phantoms of memories, nothing concrete - does not speak of a life filled with joy. but of loneliness, abandonment, and an untimely end at the hands of people he had trusted. he doesn't think he was much mourned, and doesn't realize that his death set both alhaitham and cyno on a path that ultimately lead to the changes in sumeru he had long desired.
DOES FATUI!KAVEH HAVE A VISION?
sort of. his vision expended most of its power keeping him alive, and is still kind of doing that. he wears it around his neck now, but it looks like the dead visions that we saw during the vision decree. it does start to glow when he starts to remember who he was and the convictions he used to hold.
DOES FATUI!KAVEH HAS A DELUSION?
yes! and he can use one without the negative effects because he's already basically dead. i'm torn as to whether i want it to be pyro or hydro.
WILL HE AND ALHAITHAM KISS?
probably yes.
the core idea here is that alhaitham always fucking knew that kaveh was going to give too much and get himself killed, and alhaitham is grappling with guilt.
kaveh is also feeling a lot of guilt, though he can never place the emotion or figure out why. the fight in the akademiya and the conversation at the bar are recurring moments for both of them.
but the tl;dr is that kaveh eventually realizes that despite how much of a dick he can be, alhaitham wasn't telling him not to ever help people. because alhaitham himself does help people when he can spare the bandwidth, he just... believes people need to also be willing to stand up and help him help them. and that he has to care for himself first so he's not dragged down and drowned.
he was trying to tell kaveh that he needs to take care of himself too. and that he can't drive himself into the ground over the guilt he feels for his father's death. because that wasn't his fault. that was kaveh trying to take responsibility for a situation he didn't create, which is ultimately what he does every time he rushes to save someone. he's trying to take control of an uncontrollable universe, to give all people an equal footing in the world without noticing that he himself is falling off the fucking cliff.
so yes there is probably a big climactic speech and then kaveh's vision flares back to life because he remembers why he lived the live the way he did and all the good he got out of it. and how inspiring it was. and how even if he mcfuckingdied, so many people cared enough to get justice for him. his actions had impact, had weight, and the ripples they caused made sumeru better for everyone.
and then the kiss.

Day 52 Lena Challenge
First go at the 'Magician King' Motem, though this would be his younger appearance as he usually looks like an elderly man.
Originally, the concept was that a journal from long ago documented the personal details and accounts of the Magician King and the Crimson Knight Kion, and the main party discovers these pages as they travel the world. I don't think it'll work out the way I have it planned as it is now, but one way or another, their story was intended to be uncovered piece by piece as the main characters gain more knowledge and experience travelling the world.
Shortly after, the Magi colluded together to call forth the Withering Calamity, an event marked down in Alexandria's history as the day of the Shadow. Firsthand accounts and documentation are hazy and irregular at best, but those who survived it described it as a place where darkness crept from the ground and sprouted from all living things, the sockets and joints of animals seemed to leak living liquid that trembled and grew into each other, weaving and twisting, growing larger and darker, sinking its host deeper into an abyss that seemed to absorb all sense of life. A vast silence, an unearthly stillness, an emptiness beyond understanding, like whatever once existed would be forgotten and just a touch of it would consume all sense of yourself. The land, the plants, the stones, even the air felt like it was being pulled into this darkness, gnawing at itself and everything around it, drawing in the world and devouring its existence. A great sense of hopelessness and despair came upon those who dared witness it and live.
According to the scholars of Alexandria, the fiercest crusader employed by King Alexander himself was known as Kion. She was a magnificent warrior and beloved by her people for both her mighty strength imbued with the Divinity of Flame and her unyielding compassion for the weak and innocent. She was also part of the founding members of the First Flame chapter, the original soldiers trained and dedicated to eradicating the Magi threat. She performed her duties diligently until the rise of the Magician King, a beastly elderly man who somehow managed to gain control of his devilish powers and wield them like a monster unlike any Magi before him. Worse yet, Magi flocked to him seeking refuge and brotherhood, and instead of terminating each other, under the leadership of the Magician King, they were not just surviving, but growing stronger. Kion hunted him down and finally was able to confront him, but a poison stronger than any blade and that no antidote can cure crippled the Crimson Knight before this Magi as she had become deeply infatuated with him, turning against the chapter, defeating them and fleeing alongside the Magician King as a traitor.
Yet the great King Alexander used the last of his strength to personally stop the Withering Calamity before it could consume everything and bottled the Magi's strength within it, trapping the all consuming Calamity to infinitely devour the Magi's endless source of power. This seal was called the Hallowed Graces, physically locking away the Calamity, but leaving behind a massive crater in its place. Though the King was mighty, the cost was too great a strain on him, and he could no longer stay in the living realm, finally passing on and ending the era of the First King. The day of the Shadow both marks the survival of Alexandria and the passing of their founder.
While Magi no longer exist at full strength, their kin and bloodline continue to persevere as a diluted form known as Magicians, though thanks to the efforts left behind by the First Flame, have never grown in such power and strength as they did before the Calamity. While official details are muddled around the actual event, the fear of the Magi power became enshrined through all the living realm and rejection of Magician kind continued to propagate throughout time and history.
What is the truth behind the Crimson Knight, the Magician King and the Withering Calamity? Their personal journal may be the only real clue to what really happened all those years ago.

hiii, i am also interested in cybersecurity but don't know how to gain skills to start it as a career after graduation next year
Hi! First of all, good luck with your last year before graduation! it can be kinda hectic and kinda scary, but there are lots of good things in store!
The cool thing about cybersecurity (and computer science in general tbh) is that there are lots of opportunities to learn things on your own!
(Brief side note: my recommendations are U.S.-centric, just because that's where I am and where my experience is. The industry may be a bit different if you're in a different country, but lots of things should be the same.)
This got very long, so I'm putting it under a read more. The tl;dr is:
play CTFs
get an entry-level certification (or even just study for one!) - the CompTIA Security+ is a great choice
join or start a cybersecurity club on campus (or join a professional organization like Women in Cybersecurity)
stay up to date with cybersecurity news
learn some skills on your own time: networking, programming, general IT skills, etc.
If anyone wants more information about any of these suggestions, let me know & I'd love to make a separate post about them!
CTFs Capture the Flag games are how I initially got into cybersecurity and they're a fantastic way to practice new skills in a fun, real-world kind of environment. If you've never done one, you absolutely should! Here are a few of my faves:
Cyber FastTrack is my top recommendation. It's only available to current college students in the U.S. (and requires U.S. citizenship), but the challenges are fantastic & they have awesome learning materials. It generally runs October-April each year. I did well in this CTF and got a scholarship for the SANS.edu Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Cybersecurity - that's 4 certifications & nearly $19k of free training. It's ridiculous and I love it. Highly recommend.
CyberStart is the same set of challenges, but you have to pay to access all of it. It also has programs similar to Cyber FastTrack for high school students, high school girls, and UK and Canadian students - check their about page.
picoCTF - I haven't done this one before but it's constantly recommended as a good beginner CTF. It looks like you can practice online at any time, but they also do a yearly high school competition.
OverTheWire Bandit - This site has several different wargames (similar to CTFs) that teach you different topics, but Bandit is the one to start with. It teaches you lots of Linux things & will give you the skills to play the others.
Certifications Certifications are a recommendation or a requirement for many (if not the majority) of cybersecurity jobs. They're not a replacement for experience, but getting one as a student demonstrates that you have the passion and work ethic to pursue cybersecurity on your own. Studying for an entry-level certification is also a fantastic way to get a general understanding of the field and pick up some essential knowledge.
The main one I see recommended is the CompTIA Security+. I studied for this certification very slowly for a long period of time, because I was using it to learn cybersecurity in general. It covers a lot of material but it also goes very in-depth in places. I got this cert because I knew it could get my foot in the door in lots of places, and just telling people that I was studying for it was a way to impress potential employers!
Professor Messer has a ton of fantastic, 100% free training material for the CompTIA certifications. In addition, you can use all the free resources that you have as a student to study for this. I used LinkedIn Learning courses, check if your college or local library give you free access to this.
In addition, there are technically 2 CompTIA certifications you should have before you get the Security+: the A+ and the Network+. The A+ is just general IT knowledge, and you can probably skip it if you're decent with computers. Having a solid understanding of networking is super important, so it's worth going through the material for the Network+ even if you're not going to pay to take the exam.
(Also, taking the Security+ exam while you're a student lets you get the academic discount! I think that saved me $100-$150.)
Clubs and Professional Organizations Join a cybersecurity club at your school if there is one. It's a great way to meet other students interested in the same things and get advice. They may also have tech talks, run CTF events, or have local professionals come and speak. If there's no cybersecurity club at your campus, consider starting one!
You can also join a professional organization. The only one that I know of is Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), and they do lots of great stuff. Student membership is $20/year, and then you get access to their webinars, a mentorship program, their member community, and student scholarships to the WiCyS conference. I was lucky enough to get a scholarship to the conference this past March and it was a really fantastic experience. I was also the president of my campus's student WiCyS chapter! If you're looking to start a cybersecurity club, WiCyS has good support and resources for their student chapters.
Stay Informed About Cybersecurity News Cybersecurity is always evolving, so it's important to have current knowledge of what's happening in the industry. This gives you real-world examples that you can keep in your mind while you're learning new concepts, and it's also a way to impress employers during interviews. These are a few of my favorite sources:
SANS Internet Storm Center StormCast Podcast - 5 minutes of security news every weekday morning
Blogs:
Krebs on Security
Schneier on Security
Malwarebytes Labs
Learn Skills on Your Own Cybersecurity involves working with lots of different technologies. Having solid foundations in these areas will help you a lot:
computer networking (OSI model, ports & protocols, how the internet works, firewalls, etc.)
Linux commands & Windows PowerShell
programming/scripting
cryptography basics
"everyday" security: if you're the IT person for your friends & family, know how to answer questions like:
"How do I set a good password?"
"Should I use a password manager?" (yes.)
"Where should I use MFA?" (everywhere.)
"How do I keep my home network secure?"
"How can I avoid getting scammed?"
This DIY Feminist Cybersecurity Guide is one of my favorites for general security hygiene information.
This got really long (over 1k words! wow!), but I hope it was helpful! Please feel free to send me any more questions you might have, whether specific or broad! I think cybersecurity is a great place to be and I love sharing resources and talking about it!

no cuz i feel so bad for the collector
like that poor child was manipulated by their siblings and had the first real friends that he felt accepted and loved and welcomed by completely snatched away from them and didn’t understand what had happened to the other Titans and before they could understand, confront or try to save his first real friends, they got trapped
obviously the Titan didn’t know the full story either so no hate to the Titan or anything
but then the Collector spent probably thousands of years trapped alone in the world in between worlds, a place where they couldn’t actually do anything except sit with his own thoughts and be bored out of their mind with vast emptiness to speak to
and then, in order to break themselves out of the prison and enjoy freedom again, they are lucky enough to be found by the “titan hunters” who the Collector tries to use to free himself, but when that chance came, instead of freeing them, the leader of the Huntsmen decides to try to kill the one chance the Collector has at freedom to gain more honor respect and power for himself
and imagine, Belos finds them, asks for his help and promises to play a game and set them free if the Collector just helps Belos kill everyone and with the very little knowledge of what death means to mortals, the Collector agrees because “toys break all the time, you just fix them” and that is just the price of their own freedom and the price they have to pay to have a friend to play with after so long alone, being lied to and manipulated
then Belos betrays him, drops them off a bridge in the hopes of smashing the plate that allows the Collector to communicate with the mortal world
imagine the amount of betrayal and manipulation the poor kid has been through, the very little understanding of life for people who aren’t immortal or semi-immortal because no one has given them a chance to understand
until Luz
when Luz shows up, teaches them about death and then dies in front of him i can’t imagine the amount of confusion and panic they felt. The first person to have been genuinely nice to him in a very, very long time is dead because everyone else was too busy trying to manipulate the Collector into doing something for them to care about teaching them the basics of life
i mean obviously King was probably the Collectors first real friend that we see, but King was also trying to get something from them. Of course King didn’t mean any harm and was actually really nice, but the fact that King was trying desperately not to upset them while also trying to get his friends de-pupitised for a while until he realised that the Collector was just really confused and knew practically nothing about reality probably meant the kindness wasn’t totally genuine
anyways, the more i think about the Collector, the more i understand how utterly horrifying their life experiences have been up until Luz, King and Eda
ALSO THAT LAST END CREDS SCENE
the Collector is growing as a person they wanted to show Luz and the Boiling isles how much he cared and how sorry they were for the events that caused so much damage to their world, (because it was the first birthday Luz had that wasn’t just cleaning up the boiling isles) and that was the Collectors farewell gift, thank you gift and i’m sorry gift all at once
this is why i love the owl house
all the characters are much more complex the more you look at them and it’s brilliant

DotS: Knights of the Stars file #??? — Dark Meta Knight
Tumblr media
Name: Calls himself "Dusk" Age: 5 yrs (Young Adult • Artificial Dream Puff) Rank: N/A
As if Meta Knight couldn’t get any more enigmatic! This monochromatic lookalike is the creation of Dark Mind, a poor attempt at copying the original with stolen magic from the Mirror World.
After Dark Mind’s defeat 5 years ago —thanks to Meta Knight, Kirby and company— this shadowy knight was freed of his evil shackles and left to wander without purpose.
Dark Meta Knight is a false Mirror counterpart to Meta Knight, unlike Shadow Kirby. Under normal circumstances, anyone who approaches the Amazing Mirror and has their image reflected upon it will create a Mirror counterpart; yet whenever Meta previously tried, nothing ever manifested into being.
He attempted to utilize this to his advantage against Dark Mind, but the foul wizard was cunning. Well, he thought he was, anyhow, and instead created a rather confused, but legitimate enough counterpart for Meta Knight, which would have never come to be otherwise.
Tumblr media
Still, the shadow knight was crafted using the Mirror World’s magic, and so acquired unique properties on top of inheriting some of Meta’s hidden personality. Much to his dismay, he was given Meta’s darkest, most well hidden aspect: his soft and sweet side. Much like his counterpart, he attempts to run away from this; however, unlike Meta, he sucks at hiding it. Absolutely rubbish at hiding anything about himself, as much as he’d like to think otherwise.
As an attempted evil clone of Meta Knight, this gray Puff has a handful of his combat skills. However, he lacks years of experience, and is often easily bested by someone of refined skill. Despite having the form and mental capacity of an adult, he’s only lived for about 5 years, and so has a very limited understanding of how the world works. As a result, he’s ignorant and ironically innocently-minded. His knowledge is greatly lacking, but he does have some decent street smarts and is a quick study.
As one with limited knowledge, his social skills leave much to be desired. He’s blunt to a fault, and speaks his mind openly. He will, without hesitation, sass anyone. He also inherited much of Meta Knight’s vocabulary, including his fluency in the Spanish language. Much of his.... Profane vocabulary to be precise. Both English and Spanish. Though he speaks both languages just fine, he lacks Meta’s restraint, and so does not hold his tongue in either dialect.
This also reveals what exact kind of Spanish Sir Meta Knight truly speaks. It’s pretty ghetto Spanish, which is quite contrary to Meta’s formal and dignified demeanor. Goes to show that the Lone Swordsman hides a lot of himself to upkeep a certain image.
Tumblr media
However, on a strange positive side, he lacks his counterpart’s traumatic background, and so has none of Meta’s insecurities. He’ll freely pry his mask off and show his face to others, and be himself unabashedly. He just hates it when he realizes that something about himself is just like his counterpart.
The only true insecurity he has is his lack of purpose, a deep and sad longing to fit in somewhere. His greatest desire is to fit in someplace, and matter. As a failed copy of someone else, he feels that he lacks personal identity— hence why he gets upset whenever a shared trait with Meta shows itself. He wants to be his own person, to be unique, rather than someone’s shadowy echo. It doesn’t help that he has the likeness of someone quite popular and famous on Popstar.
This identity problem of his once got too out of hand. Some time after Dark Mind’s demise, Dark Meta Knight struggled to find use and purpose for himself. So he fell into the hands of some rather dubious people for a time, performing even more dubious acts in the Mirror World. However, once he started gaining a bit of a wild streak, he was abolished from those criminal syndicates. He often ended up being used by rather evil people, and eventually broke away to try and forge his own path, running away from what he was most familiar with.
He tried being the evil master himself, manipulating innocent people through their vanity mirrors, and sowing chaos for his chromatic counterpart in Dream Land. He even once attempted to conspire with the mage Magolor; however Magolor refused to partake in his schemes, having once already learned his lesson— and a hard one at that. The Halcandran was certain to leave this shadowy knight a dire warning to cease his mischief, lest he be damned to a fate worse than death.
Tumblr media
And no, he didn’t listen. The boy’s about as stubborn as Meta Knight himself!
Eventually he grew so lost, twisted, and frustrated over the fact that he couldn’t faze Meta Knight, he turned to wreaking havoc on several villages. He made himself a proper threat, in which the Lone Swordsman dealt with accordingly.
Accompanied by his brother, Sir Antwan, Sir Meta Knight faced his dark echo in combat. Together, they defeated him and sealed him away in a void mirror. This became his prison for the next 3 years where he remains. That mirror is currently encased in canvas and locked away deep within one of Sir Meta Knight's many Popstar bases. At least, according to last time one of Meta's men checked. That was a few months ago, prior to the Jambastian debacle that happened recently.
3 years is a long time to think about one’s existence. Perhaps now he’s gotten a grip on himself? Maybe even an idea as to who he wants to be, what sort of life to live? Or perhaps he continues to float endlessly in a void, left defeated with a broken spirit.
He also owes Magolor an apology for failing to heed his warning...
Tracking down information on this fellow required a lot of sources, and help from a friend in the Mirror World. This is a year's worth of work and compiling every piece this truth-hunter could find. While this armored identity crisis doesn't serve under the Knights of the Stars, he's worth mentioning because of his association with Meta Knight.
One can't help but wonder, however, if Dark Meta Knight could find someplace that he'd fit in. it's not his fault that he exists, so he shouldn't be condemned to living forever as someone's shadow. Shadow Kirby mentioned that the last he heard him say that he preferred to go by the name "Dusk". Maybe this is the beginning of a change in him? Or some desperate grasp for self-identity?
That's enough rambling! Stay tuned for more in-depth dives into the mysteries and truths behind the Knights of the Stars...
