Wille at the Masquerade Ball: an AU (?)

The kiss at the ball with Wille dressed as a literal 18th century prince was iconic ofc, no doubt, but.. ok hear me out.

Remember how Edvin said that Wille's lowest point was when he realised he had transformed into the traditional image of a prince and what was worse was that he'd done it to himself? So what if..

After Wille tells Simon at the ball that he's finally gonna let him go, he goes outside, sits in the stairs and as he's slowly understanding the weight of what he's done, he suddenly can't take the itching wig anymore and takes it off in frustration.

So, later when Simon kisses him, he wouldn't be kissing Wille in the image of a prince, just as.. his Wille.

And then and then... when Simon is interrupted and has to run back to the choir, Wille straight up stops functioning for a minute and just.. sits down right there in the grass, processing everything, and as his heart swells with hope and happiness, he remembers that he has to be there also. Not wanting to miss the song, he rushes over. Suddenly, Simon is singing and he stops stock still in front of the window near the choir.

And then he listens, arms resting on the window ledge, looking at Simon fondly through the glass. He can't bring himself to move from there, lest he miss a single moment of the song. Simon catches his eye and smiles back at him.

Throughout the whole song, he's watching Simon, his expression soft, his hair rumpled up, and the wig on the ground by his feet. He's the only one outside, on another plane of existence, seperated from the crowd huddled together inside, looking through the window into high society. He's the farthest from being a "prince" here. Simon is up on a pedestal smiling down on him and he is but a humble admirer.

Think of Greta Gerwig's Little Women, when Jo and Laurie dance alone outside the party in the dark. Two outsiders content with just being in each other's company. With Wille alone outside, invisible to the rest, the spotlight falls on him in the audience's eyes. The song connects him and Simon even stronger in this contrast. It says, "Look. This is the person whom it was written for." And I think.. that's what would've made the moment stand out even more.

Bonus: when the song ends, Wille quietly picks the wig up and puts it back on. He enters the ball unnoticed, among everyone's applause. As Sara hugs Simon, his eyes find Wille again.

What's your go to ice cream flavor? And one you'd never lay a taste bud on ever/ again?

Ooo good question. My go to is superman ice cream, its basically vanilla but not really. It's kinda hard to explain if you've never had it. But it's like rainbow colored and supposedly every color has a different flavor but either way it's delicious.

As for one I'd never eat anything with coconut in it I think. I just don't like coconut in things. I like it plain and coconut milk but otherwise I avoid eating it.
