I’ve been thinking a lot about one scene on Mizuki’s side, while playing as Bibi- its right at the start of her day 2, when you run into Ryuki and Chikara’s left half. Talking to Ryuki has what I thought for a while was really the only ‘cheat’ in terms of misdirect in dialogue related to the twist. When you ask him about the body, you get this dialogue.

Bibi: What’s wrong? Ryuki: Well... Ryuki: Thinking about what happened six years ago... Ryuki: How could this happen...? Bibi: ... Ryuki: Anyways, that half a body is definitely Chikara’s. Ryuki: I saw Chikara’s right half at Sekiba High. Ryuki: This is the other half.

Which, this is. definitely still intentionally misleading to the player, by having Ryuki mention 6 years ago, which is why it was the one line that stuck out to me because I genuinely haven’t noticed any others like that.

It struck me right now though: this is the day before his brother’s death anniversary. A set of events from 6 years ago would be weighing heavy on his mind- he saw half of his brother’s body crushed, and now he’s dealing with these half-body killings. The fact that Bibi doesn’t say anything in response to him talking about ‘six years ago’, and he treats returning to the topic of the half of a body as more of a tangent than anything- he wasn’t thinking about Chikara at first. He was thinking of something entirely different, then returned to the topic he’d originally been asked about.

And im... oof. pats him on the shoulder. even just the setup of this case is inherently traumatic to him, considering what he’s been through, but then it also being the exact same time of year? That’s. gotta be really painful for him. And Bibi does seem to have at least some awareness that he’s not doing well, considering her immediate concern for his wellbeing at the park- its just rough all around.

It’s also those little interactions they have that make me want to see them getting along more postgame, though. Like Bibi genuinely did care about him and worry about him before everything happened, and even after that she withheld information from Date in order to help protect Tama. I think there’s a lot they could understand about each other, and they’re both older siblings.. they should be friends someday. 

ABIS found family moments, please. I think if someone said to Ryuki that he was like an older brother he’d ugly cry, but in the good way. It’d mean a lot to him. I really do think he’d have a fun energy with both of the Mizukis, I’d like to see him able to actually look out for them now and get along (and also get inevitably teased a Ton by them both for being such a dork).
