Incomplete list of the funniest disability experiences I've had
Pissed a little too enthusiastically once and the pelvic muscle contraction dislocated my tailbone and that sudden unexpected pain made me inhale sharply and choke on my own spit and start coughing and then the muscle contractions from coughing popped the bone back into place
Got home after being discharged from a weeklong ICU stay and immediately collapsed onto the floor too weak and exhausted to move so my roommate at the time cheerfully rolled me onto a rug and dragged me on it from room to room belting the magic carpet ride song from Aladdin
Ran into some people I'd known in college but hadn't seen in a couple years, after I got too sick to continue and dropped out, and they stared at me in shock and one of them said "oh my god I totally thought you died"
Fainted at work and fractured my spine from the fall but went "it's probably fine" and finished out the work day and then continued walking around with a broken spine and increasingly severe chronic pain for six months going "it's probably fine!" until finally I stopped being able to walk and my girlfriend made me go to the doctor
Got my oxygen cannula tangled in my sword while sword-fighting someone and accidentally yanked it out of my nose and my opponent, already unsure on the ethics of sword-fighting a girl with an oxygen cannula, stopped and dropped his sword to go "oh shit are you okay do you need a second" and I took the opportunity to beat the shit out of him with my sword and then blacked out a little
Shortly after I started using a wheelchair I was wheeling down the sidewalk and some random person driving by slowed down and rolled down their window and shouted "HEY GIRL, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?" and I shouted back "I HAVE A NEUROLOGICAL DISORDER!" and they yelled "WOOHOO!!! YEAH, GIRL!!!!" and revved their engine and sped off. Still not really sure what to make of this interaction but I do enjoy their enthusiasm
My cardiologist made me do a cardiac rehab program for a while because my heart did not work and he hoped specialized physical therapy might strengthen it (it did not). The cardiac rehab program was largely attended by octogenarians recovering from triple bypass surgery and I was a perky young nineteen year old who looked like I did not get enough to eat, so all my fellow patients collectively decided to adopt me as their grandchild and collaborate to smuggle me home-baked goods when the nurses weren't looking. I had the best blondie of my life while on a treadmill hooked up to an EKG

thinking about nico rosberg and how happy he seems in retirement. and how much bravery it actually took to retire on that high, to say "i'm happy, i don't need more", and refuse to get bogged down in all the discourse and the hate. about his random exploits making a youtube channel and openly figuring out who he was away from the sport. how unstressed he is now compared to 2016. i'm thinking about how the f1 circuit chews people up and spits them out even if you go in with all the tools and money in the world, because money and resource is very insulating, but you're still always paying and paying in different ways - and at what cost. how he's now thriving and hydrated and his hairline is safe and he's able to stay on the sidelines of a sport that he's loved so much. able to enjoy his winnings and his nepo baby money and his family time. the way he's hilarious on camera, and says things that sometimes are outrageous (all things about lewis - like he's soooo lewis biased he's basically running a stan account but on sky tv actually... drop the burner twt @, nico). but sometimes he says things that are also really needed (being loud on camera about lando being a great driver who will have his time and his win). like, maybe we have to stan actually.
plus look at this stance:

I keep seeing people on my post say the bullet to the head didn't leave an indent on the wall because the bullet simply did not go through his head and got stuck.
For the sake of the argument, let's forget the size and depth of those indents compared to the point-blank head shot (that would not have gone completely through) that opnly left a neat little hole that barely bleeds by assuming it's all one big aesthetic choice and what they look like has no narrative weight.
These indents were drawn, and that's the important part.
In a visual medium you want to take into account what was given emphasis. Chuuya shot Dazai 4 times. That's enough to create a pattern and expectations.
Tumblr media
The first shot goes clean through his shoulder and indents the wall.
Tumblr media
The second shot, the one to the head, is given a whole dramatic slow motion moment over three panels on as many pages... but no indent. At this point, it's 50/50 if it's really just that the bullet got stuck or what.
Tumblr media
but! Chuuya (uselessly, might I add) shoots Dazai two more times immediately after, and both of these shots also leave indents on the wall. That's a pattern. We already left physics at the door when I started this post, so the amount of body mass/skeleton should be irrelevant too.
I fully believe this is a case of the narrator going "hey, look what happens when we shoot him :)", then doing the big dramatic shot, and then going "hey, remember what happens when we actually shoot him :)"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
translation source
And like. I can't stress this enough. He spoke a whole sentence (or well, almost) after being shot in the head. He also managed to move his arms and legs a little? If that's not suspicious I don't know what is.
As a bonus, you can also take notice of how the extra bullets besides the head shot are all in relatively safe areas (I mean it's still a gun and he's still bleeding a lot) that could get healed if treated in time :)

Matrixbearer's Ranting Time:
Referenced Post is here. Fair word of warning- the original post does have a fair share of mature themes. But you don't have to read it to get context since I do explain anyway.
Just a gentle reminder for the ladies, gentlemen and everybody in between- but please please for the love of god be careful about how you word your reposts.
Tumblr media
I want to give @claudethecrabdemoness the benefit of the doubt and say they had well meaning intention thinking that @bindeds wrote a drabble that was very oc x canon coded which they really enjoyed. But please pay attention to how things were worded in their tags.
"Not my writing but it might as well be."
Excuse me my dear but that is genuinely quite an entitled thing to say! How unbecoming of you to go ahead and so blatantly undermine another creator's efforts! It isn't your writing and please highlight that fact instead of trying to pass off someone else's work as your own.
This isn't me being protective of Beck, I just hate hate hate content thieves and liars. We appreciate the reblogs guys, especially when it gives us more exposure; but not when you try and brush off that we created for you all to appreciate simply because you want the credit to a similar idea you have.
A gentle reminder that it actually takes our time, energy and effort to post things for you all to enjoy. We don't even know if you enjoy it as much as we do but we shoot it out anyway with the hope that you will. So please, please be considerate enough next time to not do this.
As writers and creators it hurts to see this, especially when there's such an obvious disregard for the effort and time we've put into honing our craft just for someone to go: "I like this! It's mine now!" That's not how the world works hun. Grow up.
Lastly, please don't go and attack the person who did this. I just wanted to make my stance and opinion clear on the matter as a fellow writer and friend. Again, they possibly mean well or the words carried the wrong intention- which is why I'll say it again.
Be careful about what you post online, how you word your posts, and who you affect. Anonymity and social media presence can often make us forget that there are in fact other people who we make happy or sad depending on what we do on here. So be mindful, be kind, and be considerate. We just want to all have fun here like you do.

i sometimes think that gojo would be a terrible terrible backseat gamer but then i think about geto.... and i take it back. i think sugu would make an awful backseat gamer lmao.
he means well though!!!!! ari n i talked a while back about how he can be a bit pretentious when it comes to films and i feel like the same energy would be with cames too... he isn't even properly paying attention to your game, he's reading or smth and he'll still make the occasional comment of you missed a thing or no, because you've been here already. bro you are not helping😒😒😒 when you don't understand your objective, he tends to tease you mercilessly before either helping you out or telling you why would i know? i'm not the one playing the game, sweetheart. 😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠 and when you kick him with your foot from the other side of the couch he just laughs..... if you tell him that he's being mean, he just kisses your temple as a reply?????????
i think satoru would definitely also point out loot in the beginning but when you tell him that you in fact see the same things he does, he holds back on it. he learns when to actually point things out, calling out for enemies when he he sees you focus on something else and he'll only point out the loot when you've already gone passed it. i think he gets super into the games no matter whether he's the one playing or not; he's laying on his stomach, head resting on his palms and feet swinging in the air as he dives into the story of the game. he's listening to intently and his eyes are so big, it's like he's in the game. he's super curious too, always asking questions whenever he doesn't understand something and it's really fucking endearing how into it he gets.
he definitely praises you whenever you do well too!!! at first he probably does it very over the top, just for the fun of it but the longer you two game together, the easier he lets the praise slip from his lips. it comes very naturally. you killed a boss? i'm so proud of you baby<3 you did a puzzle? you're so smart baby<3 you completed a level without dying? you're so good baby<3
gets super ampted during your boss fights btw!!!!! this is his moment – now he can freely point out the loot and call out enemies because you have bigger things to worry about!!! team work makes the dream work baby<33333 and when you finally win? oh, he's jumping up with you, he's taking you in his arms, spinning you around, yelling, screaming, kissing you stupid and you have to take a minute after all that to continue with the game he's just thee best hypeman in the world!!!

Mutant mayhem was solid (love how they talked like teens) just the cowaboomers love their iteration from 12 years ago.
I’m partial to Rise of the TMNT
cowaboomers... astonishing, astonishing
i haven't consumed any tmnt content except the 2023 movie and... wait. i think i might've watched... one of the michael bay live action movies that we all collectively decided to suppress the memory of. and i didn't hate it. but i didn't think it was very good either. but does a movie have to be good? is it not enough to simply look at megan fox?

I’m sorry I just gotta say after your most recent post, I find that your head canons and personal stories for ocs and whatnot are top notch. Especially due to your wording. Love your stuff man your creativity always makes me smile /gen (I really do get a smile when you post, my friends always ask me why giggle and flap my hands when I visit tumblr!)
[P:S] your way of writing reminds me of Clown’s social media posts. If I were to find a couple words to describe it I’d go with “Whimsy”, and “daffy”!
AUGH!!!!

I’m like Johnny Truant in the tags of every goddamn post I make or reblog on this site and I’m not apologizing. If you want me to apologize come over to my house and you can talk to the minotaur about it
#House of leaves#im literally going insane these days I should go back to journaling but I’m also afraid of how far off the deep end I’ll go#Literally I am losing it and I’m being serious#I’m so fucking tired of being lonely and being left out and not being able to make connections#Sometimes I feel as if im doing things without realizing and no one is telling me about it#Other times it feels like I must have something incredibly wrong with my face or body and no one will say anything#People make plans and don’t bother to ask me if I want to join and then when I find out there’s a group chat that all my friends are in#Except me and when I asked if I could join I was given a bunch of reasons that were frankly bullshit why I couldn’t join#Are they talking shit about me? I know everybody there it’s not like I am a stranger#Am I just a stranger in this world as I unllikeable? I try my best to be nice and charitable but what am I missing?#Do I black out and say things and do things? Am I more mentally ill than I know?#The only reason (or one of the very few) why I stay alive is because of my horses because I know they would miss me and I already feel bad#Not seeing them everyday#I’m tired of being the odd one out I’m tired of being entertaining when necessary#I don’t want my only friends to be horses because it further alienates me from the rest of society and I just want to be accepted I’m not#Looking to fit in I just want connection and friendship and I can barely seem to manage that#Maybe I’m just not worth it.

not to be about opera again but to be about opera again. as an art form it has the reputation of being super stuffy and something for snobs who don't know how to have fun only but honestly this was one of, perhaps even THE main theatrical entertainment for centuries. i wish people knew how hard these things can go and how engaging they can be. like characters kill and die and fight wars and (almost) commit human sacrifice left and right. characters fall in love they mourn they're ecstatic they cry they're furious it's an extremely dramatic and emotional art form! and i understand that opera does not appear approachable bc of the general conventions of the art form but i promise old works can be fun and engaging if you go watch them with some preparation beforehand (reading the libretto helps) - not to mention not all operas are old bc there are so many modern operas which engage with topical events! also the music slaps.
#le triomphe de trajan (1807) out here calling for a man's execution with this banger:#point de grace pour ce perfide; que tout sons sang coule sur un autel#(no grace for this treacherous man; let all his blood flow on an altar)#this is also annoying to me when people write historical fic and the characters treat the opera as this elitist thing#that they don't know anything about.#you know when they go to the opera reluctantly and then they have no idea what's going on on stage or who the composer is.#which is. very unlikely for anyone with the money to attend an opera in certain opera houses in the 19th c. tbqh#like im more of an expert on paris and vienna idk what it was like in london#but if you were decently (upper) middle class or nobility (esp in paris) you went regularly. this was like a whole social space too#i recently read a fanfic and one of the characters was like 'oh it's in italian. i don't know that' and the other character went like#'it's by a man called donizetti what did you expect'#(this was situated in 19th century london)#like first of all. donizetti was NOT a librettist he was a composer he did not write the text#and second of all. he worked on french operas ?? so did rossini. and spontini.#opera was an incredibly international art form. also bc productions would be performed in different countries all the time#(sometimes changed and/or translated but not necessarily)#and again like i said. this was one of THE main forms of entertainment. people were familiar with its conventions! it was well-liked!#ofc bc of the seating prices it was not very accessible to lower classes most of the time#but lbr most characters that get written into an opera scene in fiction are at the very least decently bourgeois lol#i wish people knew how to properly historicise forms of entertainment whose reputation has changed in the modern era#from what it was a century or more ago#very adjacent to people 'cancelling' old lit bc of 'bad takes' like idk how to tell you this but people thought different back then#completely different world view from what we have today. that does not make lit from that era irredeemable it is just from a diff. time#acknowledging that and reading the text critically but also still enjoying it are things that go tgt here#ok rant over (it is never over)#curry rambles
