Perfect bargain for the Gothic Victorian lover, this 1908 Queen Anne Victorian home in Shamokin, Pennsylvania is huge and only $350K. What potential, b/c it’s dark inside, ready to decorate, and is the former home of a wealthy coal baron.
Tumblr media
The front porch overlooks a lovely garden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That newel post is HUGE and look at the large light fixture on top. Love the bench seat- very convenient in an entrance hall.
Tumblr media
They’re using this room as a dining area, but it has a large window seat and brick fireplace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stained glass and another window seat. Can you imagine putting your own touches to this?
Tumblr media
Pocket doors with stained glass.
Tumblr media
Carved built-in bench seats.
Tumblr media
Another nice fireplace in this room, but look at what else it has.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The coal baron’s walk-in safe.
Tumblr media
The kitchen update isn’t great, but the cabinets can be painted and there’s plenty space for open shelving.
Tumblr media
Cozy breakfast room, also has a window seat.
Tumblr media
This hallway has access to the 2nd fl. porch out front.
Tumblr media
This home is huge- it has 8 bds.
Tumblr media
4 full baths, but this one has a modern update that doesn’t match the style of the house.
Tumblr media
This is a nice stained glass window for a bath, though. You can do it in a froggy theme.
Tumblr media
This bath is much nicer- it has a great vintage feel.
Tumblr media
It also has the original tile floors.
Tumblr media
Look at the ceiling skylight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a great vintage bath, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the bds. in the turret.
Tumblr media
The 3rd fl. rooms have great angles and nooks.
Tumblr media
Plus, there’s another safe up here.
Tumblr media
Brick and stone construction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The garden needs to be cut back a little, and there’s a porch on the 2nd fl. in the rear.
Tumblr media
Love the rusty gothic fencing.

The Lyon Manor
Here is the link to the video!!
youtube
Moving downstairs, the main floor was in just as rough shape as the second floor.
Constructed in 1896 with Italianate and Queen Anne architectural styles. The two-storey home featured a red and buff brick exterior and also included three arched windows that ran up the length of the staircase. The mansion also had additions built over the years added to the house.
Built for the Canadian politician Robert Fern Lyons who spent 17 years in office. Lyons owned 2700 acres of land where the manor home was located, he farmed livestock as well as various crops. He lived in the home until 1919 when the house was sold. Lyons would later pass away at the age of 70 in 1926.
The home had 4 other owners over the years leading up to its vacancy. It is believed that the home was formally abandoned sometime in the late 1970s.
During the last 45 years the mansion has fallen into a severe state of disrepair. The roof has many holes leading to the wooden floors below rotting, the foundation is crumbling and there are major structural cracks in the brickwork.
The land surrounding the house is being actively farmed but the owners seem to have no interest in the house whatsoever and it will inevitably collapse upon itself one day.

Well since you basically asked
Here are my predictions
Mike=Minnie
Zoey= Zack
Silent B= silent B
Lightning= as much as you could keep this the same,I think naming her Thunder would be clever and funny
Anne-Maria= Adam-Mario (high doubts on this one except for the Mario part)
Cameron= Cammy
Dakota= Dominic
Dawn= I agree with that last person,Dusk would be a smart name
Sam=Sammy/Sam/Samantha (it could totally stay the same)
Staci= Steven
Brick= Bri (short for Brianna, goes by bro so it sounds a lot tougher)
Jo= Joanna/Joanne
Scott= Scout or if you want something more known I think Skylar
Tumblr media
Also I never noticed this but in the ROTI promo image Scott has his hand on Jos waist and Jo is just staring with her usual hatred towards him
Good theories
But all I can say is 🤫
(Also as the queen SHOULD)
Side note it looks like Scott has his arm around Brick. Bisexual hm 🤨

Pre-betrayal Goro in Saes palace getting grappled and thrown by some shadow, and Ryuji being Ryuji goes to catch him bc like thats kind of a normal thing that happens in fights, and he tries to make sure no one lands flat on their ass (it fucking Hurts). And he positions himself to catch Goro, expecting him to be light like Yusuke or Akira, and instead gets fucking sent flying across the room, wind knocked out of his damn lungs bc Goro hits like a fucking freight train. Hes so incredibly Dense and heavy like Ann and it completely throws Ryuji off. Hes like ‘what the HELL are you fuckin eatin man?’ once he catches his breath and Goro is like (pink, slightly flustered) ‘If i were anyone else, id tell you that was a very rude thing to ask; dont you know not to comment on someones weight?’
“Man thats not what I meant you fuckin’ drama queen; i meant youre built like a brick wall. If i knew you were the gym bro type, I wouldve fixed myself to catch you better.”
(Still pink. Still flustered) “I…am not a ‘gym bro’, I simply have hobbies that keep me active outside of the metaverse.”

Jake x Reader (f)
Warnings: None
Find All Parts Here
Carefully placing a stack of wrapped plates in the cardboard box, you ease your hands out and close the flaps, taping them shut. With a huff, you blow the stray hair out of your eyes and lean on the top of the box. You take a look around the kitchen and across the counter into the living room. Boxes had been scattered everywhere. Each one labeled for the room they’re meant to go in once at the new house. Bookshelves that were overflowing with books now sit empty. Everything but this box had already been taken to the new house.
You look beside the box and grab the black marker and sprawl the word ‘Kitchen' across the top and side of the box of plates. Putting the cap back on the marker, you turn and lean against the counter. Spotting your coffee from this morning by the stove, you walk over and grab it. Taking a sip, it’s long grown cold, but it’s still caffeine. You take another sip and lean against the stove and sigh. You start to think about the weeks that had led up to this moment.
Jake had been very eager to find a place for the two of you and had you going to open houses almost everyday. The houses were all beautiful but nothing was feeling like home. House after house you would like certain things of each one, but nothing that just spoke to both you and Jake. That is until on a rainy afternoon, Jake’s realtor Kathy gave him a call and said a house just came on the market and she thought it would be perfect for the two of you. She said if the two of you could get there in twenty minutes, you’d be the first to view it and could be the first to put in an offer if you liked it.
You and Jake practically flew off the couch and threw on some shoes, not caring that you were both in sweats and baggy shirts. Putting on your jackets, you ran out to Jake’s car and headed over the address that the realtor sent Jake.
You pulled into the driveway fifteen minutes later. Getting out of the car, you looked up at the house. It was a beautiful Queen Anne style house. The veranda stretched across the entire front of the house and off to the right, it featured an octagonal extension similar to a gazebo. Then to the left side, it had a three story tower. The brick exterior wasn’t exactly what you would have gone for, but you couldn’t discount the beauty of this house.
Looking over at Jake, you held out your hand. He took it, and you walked up the steps and to the front door. Just before Jake could knock, the realtor opens the door with a smile.
“Hey you two! Come on in!” She says, opening the door wider and extending her arm out as a sign to come in.
You walk in first and are met with the beauty of the entryway. A large staircase is directly across from the door and to your left is what you assume is a sitting room. Without even thinking, you find yourself walking over and exploring it further. A beautiful semicircle window takes most up the outer most wall, a custom built in bench extends the width of the window. A fireplace is featured on another wall, with built in bookcases on either side. You walk around the room taking it all in. Running your hand along the fireplace mantle, you catch sight of Jake.
Jake has his hands in his pockets and is grinning as he watches you admire the room. “Hey, there’s more rooms to see babe. Let’s go take a look at the kitchen. I have a feeling you’ll love it.” He chuckles.
You nod your head and let him lead the way. Walking back through the entryway, you walk through the formal dining room and into the kitchen. The original custom cabinetry immediately takes your breath away. A large table sits in the middle of the room, to serve as additional counter space. The kitchen is quite big and has a large pantry. A beautiful gas stove grabs your attention next. It’s the exact one you’d dreamed of having.
Turning to Jake with a huge grin, you say, “Well, that settles it. We’ll take it!”
Jake throws his head back and laughs. “We haven’t even seen the rest of the house.”
You shake your head and say, “Don’t need too, it’s perfect.”
Jake shakes his head and chuckles, “Come on, let’s just look around a little more before making a decision.”
You pretend to pout and say okay. You and Jake walk through the rest of the house. Each room is more perfect than the last. Everything about the house is exactly what the two of you wanted. There’s one last room to see before heading outside and seeing the guest house. Jake opens the door and you gasp. It’s a library. Bookcases fill each wall, only leaving space for three windows that stretch from the ceiling to the floor and an enormous fireplace.
“Jake!” You gasp, covering your mouth.
He grins and says, “I know. It’s perfect. Our own little library. Kathy told me about it while you were exploring the sitting room down stairs.”
You turn and look at him. “Jake, you can’t deny it. This house is our house.”
“I'm not denying it. I already had her put in an offer for us.” He laughs.
“Did you really?” You ask excitedly.
“Yep, we should know in a few days if they accept it.” He smiles and walks over to you, wrapping his arms around your waist. “I have a feeling they will though.”
“I hope so.” You sigh.
Jake kisses you and says, “Come one, we still need to go see the guest house. I need to see if I can have it converted to a home studio.”
You and Jake go out and look at it. With quite a bit of remodeling, it can be turned into the home studio of Jake’s dreams. Heading back inside, you thank Kathy and the two of you leave. On the drive home, you talk about the house and all the things you love about it. Growing more and more excited and nervous. A couple days later, you got the call that your offer had been accepted and you would have the keys in hand as early as two weeks from then.
You smile and the memory. The sound of footsteps pulls you back to reality. Jake walks in and clears his throat. You look over at him and grin.
“Is that the last one?” He asks.
“Yep! That’s the last of it.” You say with a sigh.
Jake walks over and lifts the box off the counter. “Do you want to take a look around before we leave?” He asks.
“Yeah, I just want to make sure we got everything.” You say.
Jake nods his head and leans over to give you a kiss on the cheek. Turning away, he carries the box out of your old apartment and down to the car. Taking a deep breath, you dump the rest of your coffee in the sink and rinse it out. Grabbing the marker you’d been using and your purse, you take one last look around the apartment. Finding nothing else that needed to be brought with you, you walk back into the living room.
Jake is already standing at the door waiting for you. He smiles and asks, “Did you find anything we missed?”
“Nope, we didn’t miss a thing.” You say.
“Are you ready then?” He asks.
“Yeah, I’m ready.” You say.
The two of you walk out and you turn to lock the door behind you. With the door secured, you and Jake head down stairs. Jake goes on to the car and you go to the office to drop off your keys. Once you’ve left the keys at the front desk, you go to meet Jake at the car. Getting in, you get settled and buckle your seatbelt.
Jake turns to you and asks, “All ready to go?”
You smile from ear to ear and say, “Yep. Let’s go!”
Jake grins and starts the car. Pulling out of the parking lot, he heads to your new home. Reaching over the middle console, he takes your hand.
“I love you.” He says, bringing your hand to his lips.
“I love you too.” You reply.
It doesn’t take long before you’re pulling into the driveway. Turning off the car, you and Jake sit there for a moment.
“Welcome home.” Jake says softy.
“Welcome home love.”

shed tell me all of your opinions on the tdroti ladies right now. this includes svetlana if you skip her i will scream. /lh
Oooh the gen 2 gals
Staci: She’s a fairly funny character in canon! I get a good chuckle from how other characters react to her (especially Dawn. I think it’s so funny whenever they get mad or annoyed). Also I think it’s cute that she styles hair :]. Though more of my affection for Staci comes from fanon. I greatly enjoy the idea that Staci is insecure socially and uses her lies to try to find validation from her peers. She’s sadly my least favorite of roti’s cast but that’s much more about of how much I like gen 2 than anything else.
Dakota: Dakota is genuinely one of my absolute favorite characters in all of total drama. I love her character concept because of just how popular Total Drama is in-universe of course a teenager would look towards it for fame. The additional idea of her returning as an intern is genuinely creative and well executed. I think genuinely all of her jokes land and they capture her personality perfectly to make her flawed and in need of growing but still completely likable throughout. Her and Sam’s romance is well developed and genuinely sweet, and love that it actively makes both characters better in my opinion. I have some mixed feeling about Dakotazoid, but I do like how plays into her character arc and I think her being a wrestler and living her dream of being famous through a new angle is delightful.
Dawn: TD D&D SWEEP Dawn is such a unique and funny character. I think she could interact well with basically any other character in the series. I absolutely adore how the writers used her as a tool for the audience to learn more about other characters. They’re a fun little oddity to think about. Easily one of the most memorable early (or earlish) boot characters in the show. My thoughts on Dawn that aren’t just rambles are rather concise but do not think that means I adore this character any less.
Anne Maria: Anne Maria is a very funny character that I think is under appreciated in a wide sense! She has such a fun little personality and I like this line she balances between being either very sweet or brash. It makes her a rather well rounded character in my eyes! She has so many memorizable lines More like Queen I’m-A-Dorka! and just moments in general. This is rather small I do like how Anne Maria sticks up for Cameron and Brick, it’s very sweet to me. Speaking of Anne and Brick I also like how she took his early position as being Jo’s opposition! They have a fun back and forth. Anne Maria is a very fun character that I wish had a bit more focus in the season proper. Also her and Vito are cute :>
Svetlana: Svetlana is an entertaining character! I have a notable enjoyment of athletic td characters that can dominate challenges. I wouldn’t say necessarily say she’s my favorite of the system but she does have my favorite moments of them I think. Svetlana helps you now. Yes, I am knowning this! Svet steals the show whenever she shows up and I like that its a genuine character trait. She’s a showboat! She knows she’s talented and is going to make sure others know!
Jo: What a standout character Jo is! Easily one of my favorites in the season proper. She’s such a bulldozer she easily directs the whole season into how it turns out. I realize I’ve. said this multiple times but Jo is genuinely such a hilarious character, I love her nicknames and I think she has an amazing va! Jo has a plethora of amazing rivalries between Cameron, Brick, and Lightning and I think that’s apart of why she’s so vital to ROTI’s dna! And I do appreciate an episode dedicated to showing off her insecurities! It makes her so much more two dimensional and an interesting character to think about! Jo’s amazing.
Zoey: What an odd character Zoey ended up being. A character that was presented with often conflicting personality traits that were quite possibly made unconsciously by the writers. Still however, I find those conflicting personality traits to be exceptionally interesting and makes Zoey a more complex character to a degree. I do find it disappointing her label as the Indie Chick wasn’t always used to its full potential, there’s elements of it in Zoey’s scenes of course, but she doesn’t wear her stereotype on her sleeve like her castmates do. Over all, the best way I can say how i feel about Zoey is that she’s an enjoyable character when not in the presence of her love interest. Which is unfortunate of course. However, I’d rather not leave this on a poor note so I’ll say this, I do really like Commando Zoey. I like that Zoey realized her own vulnerability in the game and did something about it. Her frustration with Scott and even with herself possibly manifesting in a hardcore challenge beast. She gets so in her head about surviving the competition however, she loses herself and puts Cameron into harm’s way. I like that she snaps out of it and effectively abandons her place in the game for her friend. I like Zoey when I think about her, but I don’t think she was used to her full potential in the season proper

It had been perhaps less than a week since a new place had opened up in Opulence, a strange and peculiar house which outwardly may not look like much more than a slightly out of place family home on the very border between Bowden and Dillon. Built before Bowden had been given all of its rows of townhouses in a neat line along its main street, the house seemed to stick out like a stubborn nail refusing to be hammered in, surrounded by its own patch of green where predominantly asphalt and bricks ruled. It broke the overall concept of the neighborhood but added significantly to its quaintness.
Right by the wrought iron gate which leads into the now fully restored from its previous weed-overgrown state of neglect front garden was an inconspicuous but unmistakable once noticed blue sign, hand-painted and weather-worn, simply informing ‘Antiquities’. Finding out what that meant exactly was only possible by asking the one and only person running and managing it, who was very often away or unreachable. But, at the very least, the place no longer looked abandoned and would never be locked again, at least not until its single resident and owner decided to mysteriously vanish without a trace once more, just like he did almost fifty years ago. How he got it back to looking livable in within a week with basically no noise complaints or any curiosity raised by the neighbors was yet another mystery…
Once through ‘Out of the Attic’s’ door though, a not entirely expected magic within awaited. There was not a single spot, place or corner in the shop that wasn’t intricate, old, peculiar or uniquely different. Yet everything came together in one perfectly arranged harmony, mixed styles, periods, materials and uses of every single piece of furniture and decoration somehow coexisting in a flurry of blended colors pleasing to both the eye and the soul. Nothing was out of place, nothing could be pointed out as something that did not belong, even if by all rights it could be called out as in one way or another mismatched. Medallion Baluch rugs were spread under early 19th century mahogany armchairs, art nouveau blended into rococo - you could sit in William and Mary style, lounge in Queen Anne, go through the drawers of Chippendale cabinets, write on Empire desks, draw French Restoration curtains, go through a hallway of gothic revival and then end up in an Elizabethan room only to decide to cook in a kitchen that appeared like it was brought not only from another time but from a whole other side of the world too.
A time machine glitched and spat ‘Out of the Attic’ out and now it was there, in Opulence, a little rusted, a little chipped, but very antique and vintage.
Tumblr media
Maybe just like its owner, but one could never tell when it came to him. In one of the back rooms, he sat over a workbench, bent over a very purposefully directed light source which, even this early in the afternoon, was much needed to carefully and without any slip-ups bring a rough detail brush upon a tiny, rusted silver spoon in much need of a proper cleanup. Just a small first step on a long journey to its restoration to former shine and glory, requiring patience and a loving eye for details. A tinkle of a small bell above interrupted his peaceful focus, connected through the house by a tightened wire tied to the front door, a completely electricity-free motion sensor alerting him that someone had made an entrance. At no rush whatsoever, Duncan slipped off an old piece of magnifying head gear, too complicated to be called glasses. Everything was put down carefully before he rose and made his way to the front, to check who’d one of his first visitors since his arrival could be.

Since I answered the ask about Anne Howard and had to think about her relationship with Gabriel, I also spent some time thinking about the other heterosexual couple in The Patriot. And something about the way Benjamin and Charlotte weirdly flirt reminded me of another couple, but I could not put my finger on which one until today.
Even though Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1955) is my second favorite play by my second favorite American playwright, I haven't thought about it in years: a tragedy for which I am compensating now! It's set in the mid 20th C South, so prepare yourselves for some unhinged names. The story focuses on three unhappily married couples: Brick and Maggie, Goober and Mae, and Big Daddy and Big Mama, the parents of Brick and Goober (because what else could people who chose those names for their sons possibly be called?) The two young couples, and the numerous children Goober and Mae have together, have gathered at the family plantation on the Mississippi Delta to help break the news to Big Mama that her husband is dying of cancer (along with less noble motives we'll discuss later).
Inheritance of land and birth as a source of rejuvenation in the face of death are important themes in Cat as in The Patriot, but the comparison of the two highlights a third theme that is likely unintentional on Rodat/Emmerich's end: heterosexuality as industry.
Brick is the younger and favorite son, but he and Maggie have no children. It transpires over the course of the play's three acts that Goober has married Mae, a former beauty queen, and had all these children in an attempt to charm his father's affection away from Brick and inherit the estate. This plan is foiled at the end when Maggie triumphantly announces that she is carrying a child "sired by Brick out of Maggie the Cat." This line in which she compares her husband to a stud and herself to a broodmare was recalled to my mind by the "They come from good stock on their mother's/father's side" exchange between Benjamin and Charlotte. The baby in Charlotte's arms at the end of the film demonstrates that at least one of Benjamin's hopes and prayers for the new nation has come to fruition. There is new stock, even if the bloodlines are, uh . . . not so new. The baby Maggie promises carries the same hope for the future with one notable difference. It's based on a lie, and it's hardly the first one to appear in the play.
Brick is, in addition to being a former football star and an alcoholic, a deeply repressed gay man, one of the few to actually appear on stage in a Williams play. Usually, his gay characters are dead before the plays begin and yet among the most important characters in them, and this play has one of those, too! Brick's relationship with deceased fellow football player Skipper is the most important of his life and a source of deep resentment and jealousy in Maggie. When she confronted Skipper about his feelings for Brick, he attempted to prove her wrong by having sex with her, but failed. He also tried to get Brick to run away with him, but failed in that as well, and then he committed suicide: a typical cheery 1950's representation of gay life. Brick fares little better; the play ends with Maggie locking up his liquor supply to coerce him into sex so they can "make the lie true."
Cat is a scathing critique of the role lies play in heterosexual family life. Goober and Big Daddy do not love their wives any more than Brick does, instead seeing them only as a means to an end. Mae seems well-aware of this, but by God she has committed to winning away Maggie's fortune by out-breeding her, and she is going to see it through! Big Mama has performed her roles as the dutiful wife for so long she seems incapable of anything else. Big Daddy, at the end of his life, has decided to part way with "lies and mendacity," which in part means confessing to Brick how he came by his land, an inheritance not from his father but from another couple that could not have children . . . because they were both men. Perhaps he, like Brick, only married because he had something to prove.
Benjamin is already proven as a sire of seven children; why does he need to marry again? This is a question I ask each and every time I revisit, and the film fails to answer it in a way that has anything to do with Charlotte herself. When she reminds Ben that "I am not my sister," she is voicing everyone in the audience's thoughts out loud, and Ben's "I know" is not very reassuring. She seems to be in love with him from their very first scene: pinching her cheeks in the mirror when his arrival is announced, giggling like a schoolgirl when Ben's children jostle them into each other. He, on the other hand, only seems to think of her as a convenience. The only time he speaks her name are when he tells his children to go to her in the event of his death and when he delivers a voice over recap of the war's end framed as a letter addressed to her (and the children, of course). When she is not a destination for his children she is a womb provided to supply him with more!
It is hard to resist making a connection between these two stories about straight marriages brought to life by gay men, but Williams and the wives in Cat deserve better. After all, the tragedy is not simply that these men are trapped in loveless marriages but that the women are trapped with them. Maggie in particular is vastly richer and more nuanced character than Charlotte. But, if we consider who always manages to catch Benjamin's eye, who never fails to get a rise out of him, whose death brings about the end of Ben's engagement with the main plot of the story and his settling down with the mute props his wife and children have become . . . maybe Ben has something to prove after all.
