violets have forever been my favorite sapphic symbol and I knew I wanted to make some vintage-y lesbian valentines favors with linocut so here they are!! They’ve honestly grown really close to my heart as I’ve been printing and carving and coloring them. Im really in love with the design and how they look and the whole process!!! Happy valentines to my fellow lesbians and sapphics out there, you deserve a good one :]
I've been making benchmarks for a highschool design unit on card making, so I haven't had any time to myself since last sunday to draw, but as soon as I do im gonna try drawing my actual collage references cut from magazines!! I wanna!! do that!! also i fixed the colors on my last piece, and I wanna draw from digital collages too cuz pinterest has a lot of cool stuff, I just want more time to myself ;_; working two jobs and doin schoolwork and promising away my next weekend to family are all good problems but I just want time with me and my love and love of drawing ;_;
Moving from the Midwestern United States to Sofia, Bulgaria is certainly an experience in cultural growth. I have found that tends to bleed into my art. Having a Bulgarian partner, joining his family, learning the language, and experiencing the traditional crafts have changed my aesthetic sensibility.
This greeting card is a combination of soft lino carvings in Bulgarian traditional textile patterns and this black heart design I have been messing with lately. Embellished with posca pens.
