Y’all ever think about if Sora falls to darkness that inside his heart will look like the Destiny Islands falling again

#i do a lot #kingdom hearts #one of the biggest reasons i think we’ll see something like this in canon. briefly at least #not only would parallel ddd w ven’s heart/armor no longer there to protect sora #and roxas and xion gone from sora’s heart too. so sora would be alone #and actually there as opposed to in the RoL/awake when riku dives in #but also there is no way nomura’s gonna pass up the chance to bring us full circle like this. he loves making his characters revisit/relive #worlds and memories like this to make a point. and sora’s heart was sunset in ddd… following kh1 the dark and stormy night comes next #The thought of sora and riku reaffirming their love and friendship here when it broke the first time the islands fell #both of them having to in a way relive this horrible night for the final time #but riku doing the total opposite of last time. trying to save sora trying to stop the darkness from consuming everything #being totally honest with sora. reaching his hand out for sora but this time he’s not being consumed by darkness. #he’s become the light in the darkness. and they finally reach each other they finally grasp hands. I’m chewing on glass #i don’t think sora would ‘fall’ to darkness in the traditional sense #thematically i think it makes more sense for him to be faced w another martyr choice #though his own negative feelings would still be tangled up in there. and this would parallel kh3 #and if sora chooses to let darkness into his heart to save others it’d also parallel kh1 w riku choosing to open the door/let the darkness #into destiny islands at the risk of others #god it’d be just like kh1 but we’d be playing as riku and he’d be the one looking frantically for sora #a reversed dynamic. but now they understand each other’s pain and feelings so they can reach each other #figuratively and literally #i love parallels i love symbolism i love themes kick my ass !!!!

Sacrifice as an Act of Love in One Piece

Been thinking recently about how Oda uses character sacrifices in One Piece so often. Ace’s death is probably the most obvious example, but you can argue the same for so many others: Zoro taking Luffy's pain, Shanks losing his arm, Bon Clay staying behind at Impel Down... Corazon, Bellmere, Whitebeard, Tom, Pell, Pedro, Zeff, Rouge … it just goes on and on. But why do we see characters make sacrifices for the sake of others? Why are these moments so significant?

In the world of One Piece, sacrifice is a means of protecting someone else's freedom.

It has been established time and time again that freedom is the driving force of life itself. People cannot dream without the freedom to do so. And without dreams, of course, no one has the willpower to achieve anything at all. As a result of this ripple effect, the world's collective future would implode. After all, who creates destiny — the series of events which dictate the world's future — if not people with the willpower to achieve their dreams, interconnecting?

Fate and the willpower One Piece characters have to achieve their dreams is a bit of a chicken-and-egg relationship. (e.g. Did fate lead Luffy to his dream, or did Luffy's dream create his fate?) But regardless, Oda clearly shows us that these three aspects of a meaningful life are all dependent on freedom.

This is why I think Roger's quote is so pivotal to the series at large:

“Inherited will, the destiny of the age, and the dreams of the people. As long as people continue to pursue the meaning of freedom, these things will never cease to be!"

As long as you have freedom, you can dream and do just about anything; the world is your oyster. So, when Ace sacrifices his own life, he protects Luffy in a physical sense, sure. But he also protects Luffy's freedom to live — and by extension, Luffy's dream (whatever it may be).

In One Piece, sacrifice is not the act of valuing someone else's freedom more than your own. It is the act of treasuring someone's freedom so deeply that it becomes equal to yours. Characters like Corazon and Bellemere put their lives on the line without regrets, without expecting anything in return, because of love. Simple as that.

Nothing highlights this idea more than the conversation between Sengoku and Law at the end of Dressrosa. Law believes Corazon saved his life because of his ties to the Will of D., but Sengoku denies this and delivers one of the most beautiful quotes in any piece of media:

"Don't try to find a reason for somebody's love."

True sacrifice is an act of love in its highest form: unconditional, selfless, and entirely free.

Headcanon for Island of the Slaughtered : Of all the survivors (Gwen, Duncan, Katie, Lashawna, Cody, Izzy and Eva), only Cody felt bad about Heather dying. That's because she's never been mean to him, unlike with the others (especially Gwen and Lashawna). He wanted to go back and help her, but Gwen took hold of his hand and dragged him away- which was for the best, as both Cody and Heather would have died in that scenario.

I think, of all the campers on the Island, only Cody, DJ and Harold got along with Heather. That's because they saw some good in her, despite her mean and harsh personality.

Side-Note : More people felt bad about Noah's death due to the circumstances, but if he were to die differently (like Courteney or Heather) only Cody would've been affected by it. That's because, again, Noah's never been mean to him, unlike with the others.

my piece is an interpretation of the caverns on Iron Island 🏝️ so I wanted to incorporate more of the water surrounding it by creating a sea cave to have light spill inside (akin to the modra špilja/blue grotto)

the focus of the zine was on the daily lives of trainers and their pokemon, so Riley uses a spot inside the caverns like this to meditate with his team, although any new Riolu he trains can’t resist wanting to jump into the water to play υ´˶ ･ﻌ･ ˶`υﾉ”

Jaiden who is always alone and leo who keeps everyone at arms length because no one's proven that they can be nice to them. Like you dont GET it theyre PARALLELS theyre Red and Blue and yet both are Purple and they both only have their dads' hands to hold onto and theyre both in the federation By Default and dont really have any Solid option of their own on it.... i know im just rambling out of my ass but tia jaiden&leonarda is such an underrated duo and i cant wait to see more of them

thinking about 4halo again and dying

they just. they used to be so sweet together. and then the election arc managed to genuinely turn them against each other (and bad is still affected by being caged in the museum) and i would NOT have been surprised if a rebellion had started within the next few weeks after their last fight and. they used to be friends and then they almost destroyed each other

and then the eggs went missing

and there are so many parallels between them, but one of the biggest parallels is how they're both protectors. they both protected the eggs (and, when he became president, forever extended that protection to the other islanders) but the eggs went missing and they had to put all of that aside. Forever was quicker to put it down than Bad was (it felt like only a very temporary truce, from Bad's end), but they put their problems on hold, because their eggs. were gone.

and another parallel. the destruction. both of them with their plans to cause ruin because then, maybe, theyll get their kids back. bad caused most of the grieving arc damage directly, and got aypierre and antoine to help him. he dug holes in the ground. he placed mines everywhere and leapt into them. he started the lavacasting process of the fed building (and was interrupted by admins, so he stopped, but philza and fit were still right to laugh at him lmaoo). he drilled a hole through the side of the federation office from a huge distance away. he has chosen to hurt his friends and himself to get the eggs back. whatever the cost.

forever destroyed the island. or he planned to destroy the island. or he was interrupted just before he destroyed the island or or or. I don't know. but it was big, and it was bad. bad enough that the feds had to step in and forcefully drug him, and kickstart the happy pills arc.

and the happy pills arc..... oughghghgh as fucking awful as it was for their characters to experience i genuinely truly think that it saved them from each other. when he was first told about forever being fucked up bad was still in the "i need to kick his butt" mindset, and was all ready for an excuse to kill forever. and then he saw forever. and the first proposal happened. and bad was angry and he was sad and upset and he was careful. forever tried to kill him. bad decided to save him. forever kept trying to marry him. forever kept taking the pills. forever was so scared of his own anger and all of the damage he could and would have caused to his family that he kept taking drugs that kept him so out of his mind he hallucinated his son was just sleeping safely at his house.

and they both tried to kill each other. and they both failed.

and bad showed phil and cellbit (and tubbo) the item scanner that dapper discovered, which could destroy him, because nothing else was working. because they needed to save forever. because bad was reminded by then that forever was a victim of the federation instead of just a mouthpiece for it. and then when forever woke up he saw bad, suffering, and so excited to see him awake.

and now they're here on opposite sides again with forever projecting his protection urges onto the fed worker in bad's basement and bad frustrated that he isn't being believed and his evil plans of giving ron lemons apology brownies is being interrupted and. look at them. soft "i hate you" and the appreciation room and bad's quiet heartbreak when he learned about forever being missing and the "i miss you" book bad got mad at because it asked him not to torture fed workers. does anyone hear me im so ill about them. do you understand they care about each other so much and the happy pills arc reminded them of that. forever realized bad is colourblind and bad assumed forever was poisoning him and then forever helped bad cheat on another colourblindness test and forever was giving bad flowers and bad was accepting them and accepted that he was colourblind despite his previously constant denial and! i don't know if im being comprehensible and i dont really care i will be honest i just need you to know i am frothing at the mouth like a rabid little beast. they are a TRAGEDY of miscommunication and external pressure but they love so so much. platonic or romantic or qpp they CARE and it tears me to shreds
