Sorry, no robot tongues, not even hologramic ones.

They all have the ability to make holograpic drivers, but thats basic mod most had to get installed after coming to earth so they can blend in when driving. Dont want random humans wondering how that car is driving itself. But most driver holograms are super basic, they cant be used out of alt mode, and most don't even move.

So other than Mirage, none of them could make that kind of hologram, and Mirage is not the kind of bot to do something like that. So I guess the answer is theoretically possible, but the one bot who could do it would never do it.

Cybertronians have their own ways of showing emotions and have been doing so for millions of years without touges. Though some cybertronian did pick up using some human jestures and manurisms after coming to earth, it's always stuff their somewhat physically able to do.

I try not to buy into the whole AI/bot panic for a multitude of reasons, but I recently found out about something that really bothered me.

Some of my friends in the Lois & Clark fandom have been receiving comments from bots on their newest stories. I will not be using a cut as I feel it's important for people to see them (but let me know if it gets too annoying on your dashes):

How can you tell these comments were written by bots:

They're all guest comments (notice the lack of a link under the name).

They contain absolutely no mentions of the specific fandom, characters or events in the story, just generic compliments. (Notice how one says "the protagonists" instead of the characters' names! Who writes like that!!)

The assumption is that the bots leave comments so that they can pass as human and not get flagged as bots. Perhaps it also serves as training for them, teaching them how to pass through spam filters.

The thing is - regardless of how one might feel re: AI text bots being trained on fanfiction, leaving fake comments on stories is disingenuous, offensive and unethical. We write to connect with and reach out to an audience that can understand our stories and share in our love for the characters and storylines. If we wanted empty compliments, we could write them ourselves. :P

Obviously, I don't have the power to convince the people who create these bots to leave us the fuck alone, or make them understand that it's shitty to play with people's feelings like that and reduce their artistic efforts to a bot training ground. So instead I tell you, my fellow fanfiction aficionados:

REGISTER ON AO3. Stuff like that makes people lock their fics to keep the bots away. If you haven't got an account yet, now is the time.

LEAVE COMMENTS. Balance out the fake comments with your own, genuine ones. Even a simple "I liked this!" can make a writer smile.

REACH OUT. Don't let fandom become a place where no one knows what's real and what's not. Make an effort, make friends. We're all as shy and weird as you, I promise.

DON'T USE AI FOR YOUR FANFIC ENDEAVOURS. Don't feed it stories, don't make it write your stories and comments for you. Just don't.

Personally, having seen that, I'm tempted to lock my fics even though I don't really want to. We'll see.

because Slimecicle was the villain, the whole point of his character was to cause problems and it didn’t matter because he would just be reset before he could face any repercussions… never cleaning up because it was never his job; all three of them confused (slime included) about why he just leaves dirty dishes on the table (…wasn’t that the ghouls’ job? why can’t he just fucking clean up after himself?)

Sneeg i think would struggle with basically having free will and getting to choose things. any time he had been faced with a choice, it was always either showfall or the audience that would get the final say. (the three of them going shopping with sneeg offhandedly mention he wanted something and staring in shock as he watched charlie put it in the cart. no hesitation about if it was the right choice, it getting bought simply because sneeg had said he wanted it.)

and ranboo i think would shut down when faced with any decision. every choice he made had fatal consequences. nothing was ever a simple question about his opinion, but a matter of life or death, innocent people’s lives lying in blood covered hands that have killed far too many. but if showfall controlled the show did they kill them? were they doomed to die? was it the audience? …does it matter? he still ran from charlie and sneeg when he could’ve helped them. he’s still a murderer, no matter how he tries to frame it.

...so. Tumblr's gone through a lot the past week or two, huh..?

With this new update, I...don't think I feel comfortable posting Ask Cueball to Tumblr anymore. I've already switched all the toggles to opt-out of them selling my work to the AI companies, but I also know from here that they've already compiled and sent the data, including things that should never have been sent like post drafts, private posts, and all the unanswered asks that you all have sent in. My work, and your work, is already in the hands of the AI companies, without our consent. And most of my work is old enough that Glaze didn't even exist yet, so of course there was no protection on it when the data was compiled. Plus, you can't Glaze text.

...I haven't decided where I'm moving yet. I'll let you all know once I figure it out, and I won't delete anything here until I've relocated, so you'll still be able to read the comic. But between the AI stuff and the recent public treatment of trans people on this site, I don't want to host my art here anymore, not like this. As of right now, I'm considering a Cohost and/or a Neocities site, and am looking out for other options as well. The Ask Cueball Discord is remaining active and you're always welcome to join (it's been pretty quiet since the blog's also been pretty quiet, but I am active on Discord all the time so if you show up I'll be there!) And while it's not Ask Cueball related, or a social site at all, I do have an ArtFight as well.

Well he certainly is a strange one but aren't most the nobles, he doesn't seem to have any close freinds on the crew but he also doesn't really have any enemies ether, except if you count that one overly suspicious minibot. Mirage just tends to stick to himself and out of sight and out of mind of most bots on the crew.

Only time anyone noticed anything wildly out the ordinary with his behavior was when he freaked out because he didn't want ratchet opening his Chassis for repairs, But guess that's understanble some bots don't like being open up, so it's probably nothing to worry about.
