Skeletal Trauma (2022); Art Installation/Sculpture; J. Bonegard. The subject of this installation pertains to 'wear and tear' that the human body is often subjected to in the course of daily living. On par with the much-talked about subject of 'emotional stress' and the unique form of trauma that it sometimes triggers, physical stress is a precursor to the often irreversible outcome, called skeletal trauma. From elevated BMI, to exercise-induced trauma, to excessive alcohol intake, and drug abuse, the effects on the body are lasting, both to the skeleton and the organ that it protects. As the work of an artist cannot always distance itself from the reality of living, this piece has an element of activism attached to it. The choice of the textbooks (recycled from the artist's, redundant medical library) was intentional, lending its name to the title of the art installation. The nature of the construct and the simulation of a pendulum in the video portrays the real message of this artwork, is also an attempt to bring to light, why balance is critical to our engagement in all of human endeavors. https://www.instagram.com/p/ChTN4ifAmNR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I’m Thinking about Moving accounts.

Bonegard has been fun and all and I appreciate everyone who has followed me over the last few years, but I’m really thinking I need a change. A clean start. I havent decided yet, but I’m still heavily leaning toward the yes. @cereusblue thinks its not a good idea, but IDK. I guess like this if you are cool with me moving accounts? Lift Me Up (2022) | Art Installation/Sculpture by J. Bonegard. 'Lift Me up', is a follow-up to the earlier, medicine-inspired piece, titled, 'The Art of Transfusion', video of which is available on YouTube. In addition to the works of abstraction that have come to define the artist, @J.Bonegard, art installations are another dimension to the artist's ongoing creative journey. The three separable components of the artpiece are loosely held in a state of balance, using the weight of one of the two oblique pieces to balance the other out. It is indeed an exercise in equilibrium. The featured photograph of the work, a triumvirate construct, is an example of how the artist continues to evolve, using the prior experience in the practice of surgery. The artwork, created using several disused orthopedic crutches, is another example of the artist's commitment to recycling, in this instance, using reclaimed disposable medical supplies for artistic purposes. The title of the work, 'Lift me Up', is a metaphor for the challenging moments in life, when one could benefit from the support of others, to better endure the storm.
